We had dinner on Friday, and loved everything about it. The food, the drinks, the service, the location - on the beach. There were so many servers, all so efficient and attentive. Food is good and the kids working there are very nice, but when I went there first week of July, it was as if they didn't know summer was happening. A table side umbrella that they couldn't open and eventually tossed into the dunes, while we're sitting next to an unneeded space heater being hauled away as we dine sitting on rusty chairs paying top dollar for slow food service. Just left five ocean and was pleasantly surprised! Off the strip and right on the beachfront it was a nice change of pace! The place is a little small with ample parking adjacent, obviously the place to eat and drink would be on the deck that is beachfront unfortunately there's a huge dune blocking the water which the city kindly provided and I'm sure the owners of this fine establishment weren't thrilled about it!lol You do get a nice ocean breeze and you can hear the waves crashing unfortunately you just have to picture the water in your head lol but at the same time the dune provides protection which is a good thing I guess, my friends and I had Amanda as a waitress and she was extremely friendly and sweet from the beginning! Very attentive and courteous and informative as well regarding the menu and drink options!The drink menu along with the food menu is small but creative!We came here to drink so the only food item ordered were the lobster nachos and they delivered! Huge portion of fresh delicious lobster of nachos,cheese, jalapeños,guac and whatever else was in this big metal bucket, the chips could have been salted and the cheese a little tastier but it was still very satisfying and enjoyable! Great to share for 3-4 people!I had quite a few cocktails off the menu and the bartender did a great job mixing them up to our satisfaction, I think the deck could be a little bit bigger to dine as they're only about maybe 6 or 7 tables but it might be due to a town ordinance how far they can go out into the sand, it's also a little pricey for what it is but you're getting good quality food & service here in a nice friendly laid back atmosphere and there aren't many restaurants/bars that's close to the beach as here, looking forward to coming back for dinner real soon And I would definitely recommend our waitress Amanda again! read more

New ownership only 2020 has completely changed this place for the better. Came a few times 2018/19 and was always good and had enjoyed it but new ownership has taken food/cocktails/frozen drinks to the next level. Everything is fresh ingredients, from food to drink. Berlin the Mixologist was brought in from LA and has a whole bunch of new drinks on the menu, wish I got to try them all during my stay in LB. Perfect for hot summer days. Food was second to none, so good. This is the #1 place I would recommend in LB. Great value, service, and experience. read more

Staff is so friendly and they go out of their way to accommodate you. The drinks are amazing, fresh, refreshing cocktails made with real fruit purées. Looks can be deceiving. Those who have complained about price were probably expecting a beachside shack experience. If you stop with the chips and salsa, you are cheating yourself of the menu that makes this an unexpected neighborhood gem. Where else on the beach can you get a mound of briny-fresh clams with linguine, perfectly seared ahi tuna, a cream of lentil and squash soup delightfully presented? Then add American classics like buttermilk fried chicken (with lime chile sauce no less) and a hefty angus beef burger. With a full bar, thoughtful wine pairing, and the beach setting, you have a fabulous meal. Our party of 5 enjoyed all of this and friendly, accommodating service. We are from California so have had our share of memorable oceanview restaurants. Five Ocean is now among our favorites. Try it, you won't be sorry. read more

Talk about prime location right at the start of the boardwalk on the west end of Long Beach! You will feel like you are eating and drinking at your friend's beach house on the boardwalk. The margaritas are strong and refreshing so yes "gurl bye!" The fish tacos are grilled perfectly with guacamole, slaw, and just the right amount of jalapeno. The menu was smalller but you can tell they're going for the quality over quantity thing and they nailed it. Everything we had was spot on. Thought it was wildly overpriced, guess you are paying for the location? More recently, stopped by to pick up some beach cocktails. Ordered two rum punches, they said they didn't have that. Had a reservation for table outside. We arrived on time, plenty of tables overlooking beach available but were told they were reserved, so we could either sit at a table overlooking the street or sit at the counter. After we put up a fuss they finally allowed us to sit at one of the beach tables but only for an hour, because they expected someone else at 7:30pm, so it kind of ruined the experience. Afterwards we walked on the boardwalk for a while and upon returning to our car around 8pm there was still no one sitting at this table. What the ??? What is wrong with these people? It didn't seem to matter if you were white - so I guess we didnt look cool enough for their wanna-be image. read more

This is by far the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Racism at its best. Came there with my girlfriend and was told that they were not serving dinner until 5pm. It was 440pm. We decided to order drinks and shortly thereafter the waitress took our food order. We were sitting on bar stools facing the dunes. Since the food was ordered I asked the waitress if she could sit us a table. She said I'll check and came back 5 minutes later saying all of the tables were reserved. Really? All of the tables. It wasn't even 1/4 full and there were tables. White Patrons came in and they were promptly seated. When I asked for the check all of a sudden they had a table. I am a brown skin Latino and to have this type of treatment is completely unacceptable. I would think this would happen in those hick southern states, but not in NY. Also reading through some of the reviews this is not the first call out of racism. You guys should be ashamed of yourself. My money is green just like everybody else's. If you are reading this, and you are a non white person, do yourself a favor and find another place to go. read more

Just moved to the area and heard this place was good. Most people said it was a great place to grab lunch by the beach, so I'm thinking sandwiches, nachos... well they have nachos but with lobster. So we walk in and order froze's and fish tacos. I ask the blonde girl at the front with black nail polish and tattoos on her arm (making sure I don't confuse her with the other blonde girl who was very sweet) "do the fish tacos have fruit of any kind cuz I can't eat that." She looks annoyed n flustered at my question n says no only the shrimp tacos do so I said ok n didn't send a special request to the cooks. I get my tacos and low & behold there are pineapples in there. So I told the gentleman Craig and he quickly offered me 2 new tacos free of charge. Because of your hospitality and great attitude and service, along with the bomb froze' and yummy tacos we will definitely come back.
