They always take the time to stop by each table to say hello and make sure everyone's happy, which really adds a personal touch you don't find often anymore. The food is consistently amazing, one of my absolute favorites is the fried burrata with honey drizzle (trust me, it's a must-try!). The cheeseburger, pasta dishes, and chicken are all incredible -- everything I've had has been a solid 10/10. You can really tell they put care into every detail, from presentation to flavor. Made a last-minute reservation and asked to sit at the bar instead of outside -- the team couldn't have been nicer! They not only accommodated us but even asked other patrons to shift a bit so we'd have more space. Such a thoughtful touch. We started with the chickpea fries with smoky hummus and the crispy tuna tartare -- both were incredible. The chickpea fries were different in the best way, perfectly crisp, and that hummus had just the right amount of smokiness. The spicy tuna hit the spot -- fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For mains, I had the chopped gem salad, which was so fresh with the best tangy dressing -- light but full of flavor. I also ordered the lamb kebabs, but I was so full I had to take them to go. My husband had the pork shank, which was fall-apart tender with a rich cider sauce that was absolutely delicious. And the drinks -- my Tito's martini was perfect. Love this restaurant in East Rockaway. Margo was our server and she was a treat. Outstanding service, great food and a nice venue. I hesitate critiquing Haviland from a selfish standpoint only. My wife and I walked in without a reservation ( not recommended) last Saturday evening at around 6pm. We were greeted by a most gregarious host, "DP" is one of the owners as we later found out. He surrounds himself with family in this beautiful setting on Main Street. He suggested that he is virtually sold out this evening after 7:30 and we assured him that we would certainly be done and on our way well prior to that. As for the food itself, we found everything to be beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious! All staff were genuinely welcoming and we had a most enjoyable meal. DP made sure to visit each table as we traded quips and common ground with this Baldwin native. With limited seating, this restaurant gem stands out from the rest. The food was excellent! I saw the brisket sandwich on Instagram and it did not disappoint. Come with room in your belly to finish it, though. Between the sandwich and the yummy fries, I was stuffed! My husband got the beet salad which was plentiful and yummy. I forgot to take a pic of the dessert, which was the bread pudding and it was delicious. It's definitely made for two to share. Small but mighty! Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The decor is updated and tasteful. The staff could not have been nicer. The food was delicious. Has been on my list of spots to go and finally my husband and I got the chance last weekend - and we were blown away! Good vibes upon arrival - the owner/hostess greeted us right away and we got to small talk - so welcoming and kind. She genuinely took an interest in us and shared a bit about the restaurant and staff. It was consistently busy, which was nice, and we never felt a wait or lag in service. The food - amazing - charred wings, truffle fries, pork chop and pasta (all of the specials were interesting too!). The drinks were great, wide variety of specialty cocktails. Finally got to try this place with my boyfriend and it did not dissapoint! Really hard to find quality ingredients around where we live and this place hit the mark! The service was really good, everyone was friendly and our waitress was so nice! Very attentive and always asking how we were doing etc. The food was so good! Very hard for me to enjoy burgers out and this one was juicy and delicious. Also the calamari was the freshest I've EVER had. Usually greasy but this one you can tell was hand battered and not frozen (love how they have wild fish as well) also GET THE SPICY MARGARITA, SO GOOD! I heard great things about this restaurant, but the food exceeded my expectations. Our drinks were also really good! Our waitress was amazing and attentive and gave us great recommendations! The owner greeted us as we walked in, and then when we were leaving asked how our meal was, it shows he cares what is put out. It's very pretty and dimly lit. My wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Haviland. We were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary and were so very glad we chose this restaurant. We started with a tuna tartar which was crispy and tasty. For dinner, I chose the pork chop which was fabulous, and my wife selected the garlic and herb shrimp which was terrific. Both entrees were most delicious. The wait service was outstanding and the ambiance is upbeat, friendly and upscale. The restaurant reminds us of a high-end establishment in Manhattan. My first time at Haviland did not disappoint. I've been trying to get here for so long I wish I went sooner. The ambiance is very cozy and welcoming. All of the staff is friendly and accommodating. Our server Amanda was a real gem. The food was spectacular. We had the calamari that was tender and coated with a light crispy batter that came with a tomato sauce and garlic aioli. That aioli was to die for. We had 2 special entrees, the lamb ribs with artichokes and mashed potatoes which were flavorful and tender and the scallops with mushroom risotto. Wowza. The place itself is warm, dimly lit, super welcoming, the staff are genuinely happy to have you there, we had an Irish waitress whose name I can't remember but she was a DELIGHT. The Pops Old Fashioned was the closest to a NYC old fashioned I've had in months. The crab dip comes with deep fried saltines, sounds odd is amazing! Crispy, salty, cheesy, good crab flavor, perfect winter app. The Bad Ass sandwich is ginormous, thick bread, loads of toppings, don't add anything bc it's already huge, we added cheese and it didn't need it- be very hungry for this. The bolognese was classic, rich, hearty, flavorful, a great pasta. We had a chocolate dessert, don't remember the name but it was INCREDIBLE. FANTASTIC! went for dinner last night with my husband & inlaws and i truly can't stop thinking about how good the meals were- and so unique without being unappetizing!!! In particular, we got the charred wings that came with tangy & flavorful dipping sauces- loved. I also split the crab dip & fried saltine crackers with my sister in law and we demolished them. I would never ever think of preparing a saltine that way, and now I never want to eat them any differently! My pomegranate margaritas were light, refreshing, flavorful and all of our drinks arrived quickly. We were attended to constantly, but not in an overbearing way- the wait staff were all perfect, kind, and attentive in all the best ways! For my entree, i opted for the tamari glazed salmon- had to have been some of the BEST prepared fish I've ever had at a restaurant, and I am a seafood girlie!!! Served with micro greens, sesame seeds, and a bed of perfectly crisped rice, I literally went to use the bathroom to prolong its existence in my life for an extra 5 minutes, that's how good it was. Is it a little pricey? I guess so, but for the overall cozy, welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food, it could truly not be beat. Also, the bathroom smelled phenomenal- a 10/10 experience. And they say that the menu will change frequently based on the seasonal ingredients, I just hope our favorites don't go away. This place has become one of my dad's go-to spots. Everyone on the staff is extremely friendly and service is great. We went on a Friday night and they were quite busy all night which shows how much people love this place. Everything we ordered was great. The Fiery Rice Bites and Fried Burrata were my favorites of the appetizers. We got the Tuna Tartare too and the combination of the tuna tartare eaten with the fiery rice bites was fire. The Garlic & Herb Shrimp, Seared Icelandic Cod, and Grilled NY Strip are must tries for entrees. And make sure you don't leave without trying an order of fries! Will definitely be back! read more

Havilland's is wonderful friendly local dining experience. The food, as well as the service was top notch, warm and attentive. The crispy calamari appetizer topped with jalapeño pepper slices had just the right amount of kick, that even my wife, who usually shys away from jalapeños, enjoyed the dish as much as I did. The kale and beet salad, terrific. Same with our entrees, tile fish over garlic mash and sautéed spinach, was delicious and cooked perfectly and served hot. Really worth a try!
