We had the absolute best experience at Nick's Boathouse in Pensacola, and Anastasia made it unforgettable. She is truly adorable -- so attentive, personable, and warm from the moment we sat down. She made us feel completely taken care of while still being fun and genuine. The crab legs were spectacular -- perfectly cooked and delicious -- and the view was just as incredible. Between the food, the scenery, and Anastasia's amazing service, it was one of those meals you don't stop talking about. Overpriced in my opinion, but a nice ambiance nonetheless. The only complaint I have is when we told our waiter the table was a bit sticky instead of wiping it down for us, he gave us a cloth to do it ourselves. The lunch is good. They do have a soup and salad special and their Caesar salad is amazing! The soups are good too. It's mostly seafood restaurant, hence the name and the location being on the water. Disappointing Thanksgiving Day dinner. I've eaten here on several previous Thanksgivings. Your turkey this year was DRY. Very very DRY! It was cooked to the point that the skin was tough. I had a difficult time cutting the skin on some pieces. One piece I picked up and knocked it against the table. It sounded like a rock hitting the table. The gravy used was way too salty. Sorry you cannot cover up dry meat with too salty of gravy. The next problem was the stuffing. It was mushy. I've never seen dressing that mushy. It's like the cook over cooked the dressing then added too much chicken broth to it in-order to cover up it being over cooked. Additionally, it lacked celery, sage, and pepper. It had plenty of salt! The last issue is the skillet potatoes. Now I've eaten all over the country, but I've never seen skillet potatoes served as a Thanksgiving side. Instant potatoes mixed with real potatoes would have been better than skillet potatoes. Still it's a beautiful restaurant with an incredible view but the view cannot make up for the food this year. I was concerned when I walked in and there were three parties in the restaurant during spring break. Service was great, but the food was awful. My wife ordered salmon, and it came out completely raw. You could tell from the doneness on the edges versus the thicker part that it was cooked straight from frozen. The feta tasted old. I ordered fried shrimp. The fries and Brussels sprouts were okay, but the shrimp was bad. Obviously, cooked hours earlier, and reheated. Our waitress immediately discounted the meal by 50%, and you could tell she'd handled this situation many times. I tipped her well because she was great, but even with the discount, we paid $40 (not with tip) for a meal that came out of frozen bags and was poorly prepared. My guess is this place is already planning to close, and they're running the operation as cheap as possible read more

Came in to treat my father in law for Father's Day on Friday before. We were sat right away. Server was Anastasia and she was great. Has a great view and live music was playing on deck outside. Y'all this was the WORST food we have all had in a longtime. We paid $160. For 4 meals and they were all horrible. The food was so SALTY I mean SALTY it wasn't even edible. Salmon with Burre (sp?) Blance sauce was broken during last July 4th lunch visit. A broken sauce is straight up laziness. Clearly had new butter nuked into it as it was left over from the night prior. If the kitchen can't make/ keep fresh & properly prepared sauces during hours of operation, hiring managers need to look elsewhere for kitchen staff. The place was nicely full of patrons so it wasn't simply poor attendance that encouraged a lazy, careless hand with sauce . Fast forward to a recent visit, on a weekday for a late lunch: I was seated at a bar table whose top was AS sticky as was the menu, both sides. After trying multiple times, I was obviously able to free said menu, now turned off to my visit. Ordered Chèvre ( goat cheese) "crostini" " with blueberry compote and bacon lardons", per the menu description. Love Chèvre; love a crispy, crunchy crust and a somewhat pillowy interior, laden by pockets of trapped air. When the dish arrived, I felt duped & peeved for $10. Four TINY, 1/3 of an inch tall, thoroughly crunchy ( think more like an old school Melba toast crunch) pieces of what ate/ chewed like stale bread. The slices were very slight in height and were a max of 2.5- 2.75 inches long/ wide. The "Chèvre" , by sight alone, was barely swiped onto the would-be crouton bread ( definitely NOT "crostini") in such a barely-there manner that I was so regretting not trying another restaurant. No tang, no real Chèvre flavor except entirely too salted; I've not experienced salty Chèvre, ever. Let's not forget the "lardons" of bacon.: Zero lardons on the plate. Nuked, standard bacon at approximately one curled- up inch per crouton slice topped the needlessly salty cheese. The gulf coast ubiquitous fried shrimp AND accompanying French fries were not seasoned with anything just out of the fryer. Shrimp were a generous size and maybe six or seven on the plate; they were also hot. The fries were heavy and mushy which, I know means that the fry oil wasn't allowed to reach max temp , in what was a sadly truncated fry fry. Ugh, they were definitely colder than the shrimp which in turn, leaves the diner struggling how to salt a cool pile of French fries ( can't season if the kitchen doesn't pay attention & season AS fried foods emerge from the fryer). Ive spent a few hundred dollars @ Nicks on my visits & given the place opportunities to demonstrate that the kitchen cares AS much about the experience of the lunch or mid afternoon patron, as evening diners. Only rarely do I seek a comp & I did not here because given enough chances over the past two-ish years, Ive determined that I will not return to Nicks, any longer. It's an early aughts bayside restaurant with plenty of indoor and out, seating. Pop Rocks of satellite radio sets the vibe such that if you're over 45ish, this music is nicely familiar without feeling dated. Servers are attentive & try to make small asks, happen sans making the patron feel like a pain in the rear. It's a good enough place to fill your belly & nothing terrible about it. As dining out becomes increasingly more of a luxury, the $65 for an app, a fried entree, & two glasses of vino for a single patron, will be better spent doing serious due diligence as where next to dine for a kitchen that shows its' care for the quality of food execution. read more

It's on the water. We sat outside. We had a great meal. We had a couple a couple of lobster shrimp bisque and it had a lot of chunks in it which was nice. They have a lunch menu for $9:99. Two of us went with the pork chop and came on top of me mashed potatoes and really good string beans with a sliced onion in there sautéed interesting. My SIL had the pop corn shrimp, which came with french fries it was fried. There were plenty of shrimps. They were not cheap on it. Dolly was a great server. Nicks used to be one of our favorite downtown restaurants. Went there for lunch today and found they have changed their menu. Prices have gone up and they give you less food. They have also changed the bread type on their fish sandwich. The bread is an artisan style bread soaked in olive oil; so much so that you can't even taste the fish. read more

Nice place near downtown Pensacola and Wahoo stadium. Went with my wife before a baseball game. We were kind of before dinner so it wasn't crowded at all. We were greeted and sat promptly. The snow crab was too overcooked. We couldn't even break the legs without the whole leg bending and being flimsy which smooshed the crab meat. The oysters weren't bad. Tried to book a Tuesday night reservation for two tables 10 people at each, with different checks. The hostess rudely hung up on us after saying they are short staffed and cannot accommodate. We bring clients there often and if they do not need our business no problem. We gladly will take our money elsewhere. what has happened to Class, and top notch service to make business a success? People quickly forget who is the customer willing to pay your tip and for the food.
