In my photo you see the Ox Tails. First time trying ox tails. I was scared. They were AMAZING!!! The macaroni on the side and corn bread was delicious with a little pepper. Yams very sweet. The fried green tomatoes, save yourself and do not order them. They have no flavor despite how they look . We also had drinks, they were ok, hope they get more craft makers. The catfish was amazing, it's just one piece however . The crab cakes amazing as well. Over all great experience LOVED IT. The manager was out cleaning tables and seating people. We had just landed in Pensacola, on our way to Orange Beach, and needed a spot for dinner. My boyfriend is a big blues lover, so this seemed like the spot to try. We found parking easily in the back, and the inside of the café is really interesting with all the memorabilia to look at. We went full southern on our dinners with fried green tomatoes, cornbread, fried shrimp, and country fried steak. It was all so yummy and delicious! The servers were very friendly and efficient. The woman manager carried an unfriendly demeanor, while the man manager stood watch over the dining room in a manner that felt more like surveillance than hospitality. The discomfort this created was impossible to ignore. Sadly, the food did not justify enduring the atmosphere. The macaroni and cheese was neither fresh nor hot, looking as if it had sat out for some time. Everything was heavy-handed with salt, dulling any complexity of flavor. Most disturbing of all, I bit into a piece of fried chicken only to find hair baked into the crust. Unsanitary incidents can happen in any kitchen, but what followed was unacceptable: neither server nor management offered an apology. Instead, I was asked if I'd like "something else" or even dessert, as though the issue were trivial. Restaurants are not just about food--they are about care, respect, and trust. At the very least, diners deserve to be acknowledged when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, 5 Sisters fell short in ways that went far deeper than seasoning or preparation. For those who care about cultural integrity, customer care, or simply basic food safety, I cannot recommend spending your time or dollars here. Especially if you're a person of color--you, I, we deserve better. Response to the "owner": With all due respect ma'am, I did the research while I was at the restaurant and no "minority owner" shows up or is even pictured anywhere when the business googled or business searched (only a chef or former chef). What a lovely Saturday morning brunch we had as our first brunch experience as Pensacola residents. It was a dark and stormy night... Actually it was a cold and rainy morning. The goddess, princess (our shih-poo) and I had just finished a stroll through the Saturday farmers market and said, "My, a libation and some creole food would be lovely. So we sat on the porch and... ate like pigs. Very happy pigs. I had gumbo and a shrimp po boy. And a sazerac. No, two sazeracs. Okay, three sazeracs. Now, being a NOLA/Arnaud's sazerac snob, I'm picky. Five Sisters did them proud. Not that anything can match Arnaud's but it was close enough for jazz. Forgive the pun. The gumbo was Nice. Not thrilling, but nice. The shrimp po boy was spot-on. Soft, spongy bread with crispy, bitty breading and puffy, sweet, and perfectly cooked shrimp. What did goddess have? Dunno. Too busy with my food. And after the third sazerac, do you really expect me to remember? Princess was treated like a goddess, with a water bowl and a complimentary plate of dog snacks. This has been on my list for a while. The customer service was amazing. It didn't take long to be seated even though they were pretty busy. My waitress was very attentive. The co-owner was walking around checking in with customers. That was really a nice touch. The food took no time coming out. The chicken was pipping hot and really good. My husband and I were looking for some good fried chicken and heard that Five sisters have the best fried chicken in town. I ordered the 14 hour slow smoked beef brisket with sautéed mushrooms, onions and Swiss cheese on Texas. Toast served open face with fries. both were very delicious and I highly recommend ordering those two items. They have indoor and outdoor seating and live entertainment every night. And they also offer happy hour daily from 3 to 6. I would highly recommend five sisters for some good classic southern food, entertainment, and southern hospitality. looking forward to return and check out happy hour with some of the other choices they offer. read more

I'm constantly surprised about how Pensacola has this cool New Orleans vibe going on here and there. This is a nice little New Orleans style restaurant with live music and friendly service. We enjoyed some live jazz while we had shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, and a vegetable plate. I love me a good vegetable plate and This one was very tasty. I think this is a converted record store in a groovy little part of town and there was plenty of street parking. The fried green tomatoes were of course great, but the rest of the sandwich left a lot to be desired. Without finishing that BLT, I moved on to the Three and Three. The three fried drum sticks were the highlight of dining at Five Sisters. Avoid the pineapple cole slaw, it was so tasteless. If you are in Pensacola and desire some down-home cooking that focuses on flavor and not fluff, you must try this place. It was honestly one of the best meals we had while on vacation. We visited for lunch and the place was packed solid. We began our lunch with Fried Green Tomatoes. I'm not exaggerating when I say that these were the best fried green tomatoes I've ever eaten, mine included. They use panko in the crumb coating to give it a crunch. Perfect texture and seasoning. We also had to order the fried chicken, which was seasoned inside and out and very tasty. You got to choose 2 sides with it and I chose Mac and cheese and sweet potato souffle. Both were amazing in their own right, but I might just swap out the sweet potato with something green. I was pretty full by that time and the potatoes were too much! I had tried eating at Five Sisters before on a Saturday and the wait was too long. It remained on my radar until I had another attempt and Wednesday was a perfect night. They have 50 cent wings on Wednesday after 4pm. My wife and I arrived at the restaurant at 4pm. There is parking across the street. We ordered fried okra that came with a jalepeno ranch. The okra was good but nothing to really set it apart. They have 5 wing choices: BBQ, Buffalo, Parmesan Garlic, Nashville Hot, and Lemon Pepper. You also have to order at least 10 before you can get another order. I chose BBQ and Parmesan Garlic. My Parmesan Garlic came out hot! They were cooked just the right amount. The Parmesan Garlic might have been a thin type of sauce though it did leave taste to it. The BBQ was disappointing. The wings were overcooked because they were tough and crunchy. I asked for them to be made extra wet and they were not. The BBQ sauce was either made with orange or orange juice and I didn't like it. We ordered pineapple slaw as a side. The slaw was creamy but my wife was disappointed because they used canned pineapple instead of fresh pineapple. My sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. But there are a lot of things I would like to try on their menu so I would give Five Sisters another chance. read more

I hadn't been here for a few months. But I was craving that delicious fried chicken. The food was all good. But, the Caesar salad was drowning in dressing that tastes more like Italian dressing. The service was ok. Young girl never once came to ask if we wanted more to drink. The ambiance was typical. The problem was the tables and floors. We were seated at a table that had not been wiped down. Sticky with crumbs and stepped on shrimp and other droppings under the table. Now, not all tables were full, so it wasn't that busy at the time. We asked for the table to be wiped down. We watched as the hostess...who could smile when customers arrive, continued to seat people at 3 tables that had not been cleaned or floors that were swept up, and 2 tables had the payment book still on them when they were seated. The family next to us broke out their hand sanitizer spray and wiped the table with the napkins. I love coming here, the food is always amazing. The atmosphere was nice and it's not overly pricey but the food didn't live up to my expectations. I had the red beans and rice. It had pulled pork in it and the overall flavor didn't make sense. Not sure how to describe it but it's not what you'd expect especially being in the south. And the collards, I'm confident that I can say they came out of a can. I came here on July 4th with my fiancé and our two dogs and I'm not sure if this place is dog friendly or not. We called in advance to ask and they said we were allowed to sit on their covered outdoor patio with our dogs but when I got there the hostess asked if they were service dogs and then she had to go check with someone else to make sure it was ok. She also kind of had an attitude. They ended up letting us dine on their outdoor patio. The waitress was really nice and brought out water for our two pups. Service was a little slow. My fiancé had the fried chicken with cornbread collard greens and red beans and rice. The collard greens and fried chicken was good but red beans and rice wasn't that great. Out of the five days we were in Pensacola, we ate at the Five Sisters three nights. Not a single person in our group had a bad meal the entire time we were there. Together, we probably consumed a third of the menu. The pot roast and cornbread were particularly loved by our group, as well as the ribs. The wait staff are kind and funny, making an effort to get to know us and giving phenomenal service. Nothing can bring down your mood while you're seated at the Five Sisters. The long waits were worth it and felt short knowing the food we were going to receive. There was live music one night that was particularly enjoyable, but the vibes are excellent even without it. We literally counted down the minutes until we were able to return to the Five Sisters, and no complaints were had about eating here three times in a row. Cannot recommend enough. read more

I was told the pork chops was one of the best items on the menu. In order of the best tasting items that came on my plate was the corn muffin, mac & cheese, pork chops, mash potatoes. There was no flavor in most of my items. The mash potatoes had a weird taste. My friend got the other dish and said that it was just ok. This was a wonderful experience. We saw the reviews and the menu and decided we would try this restaurant for good old southern fried chicken. We were able to get a table rather quickly and now, your in about 45 minutes, the band starts. The food was delicious! We had the fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, red beans, and rice, mashed potatoes with gravy, and the green beans made with a bit of bacon. This was a great stop on our short trip in town. I dined on a Wednesday night - unfortunately, no live music but they did have $0.75 wings. I didn't get any because the chicken dinner was calling my name. I ordered two thighs, greens, and red beans and rice. I also got to sample the shrimp and grits - masterful - and the Mac n' cheese and fried green tomatoes. For those that have never understood fried green tomatoes- this is a great place to try them. Super tangy and exceptional crust. Literally everything I ate was super flavorful and perfect. I was also surprised how quickly the food came out! All staff we interacted with were super cheerful and seemed to really enjoy their job. I didn't get dessert but I enjoyed the cornbread that came with the dinner and washed it down with a sweet tea old fashioned. Honestly was the best meal I have had in quite a while.
