Atmosphere: Five Spice is an AYCE KBBQ spot that opened in Honey Pig's old location. The inside was clean and spacious! Service: Our server was friendly, and the orders came out fairly quickly. The ordering system was on an iPad, making ordering easy and quick. Food: We ordered several of the menu items, including the pork belly, beef finger ribs, beef short ribs, marble beef, beef brisket, and corn cheese. Our favorites were the beef finger ribs and marble beef -- the meat was soft and tender! The pork belly and beef short ribs were both on the fattier side. The corn cheese comes in a pretty large serving, so beware if you're trying to save room for more meat. The one big weakness of Five Spice was their sauce selection. They were not authentic/traditional KBBQ sauces and were oddly sweet and tangy. Overall: For AYCE KBBQ, Five Spice is probably your best option in the Triangle. The quality and variety was good but wasn't the best we've ever had. We'd love to come back to satisfy another KBBQ craving! read more

The only downside is that they don't have lots of banchan options but they definitely make up for it with their wide variety of other appetizers and vegetables which I haven't seen at other spots in town. We love to try new fun and yummy places, especially with an experience like self-barbecue. This isn't a strict Korean BBQ, which was actually a plus for us because we appreciated the other Asian foods and flavors. The grills were nice, not sticking much and not too much smoke. The foods were flavorful, though the meats didn't seem HUGH quality. It is great for $35 AYCE. We were super satisfied and when full, not bloated, as many BBQ places leave us bloated and sluggish. The staff was largely Chinese, so obviously don't expect Korean hospitality and sides. Everyone was friendly and checked on us and made sure we had fresh new grills. We would definitely come back for an affordable fix of AYCE if whenever we are in the area and craving a lot of food, there are also a lot of desert options around for after! read more

Finally, Raleigh needed a place like this. No frills, just order your food and eat. The waitresses were super friendly. Sometimes orders were forgotten, it's ayce so it didn't really matter, just order it again. We also ordered the seafood pancake, dumplings, spring rolls, and mushrooms. We went during lunch time on a weekday. It was amazing! The service was impeccable. They cooked our food for us! I was not expecting this. The other places like Kpot or seol grill do not do that for you. I'm not sure if they do this regularly because I can see it being hard when they are super busy. REALLY glad to see these nice people take over the space from Honey Pig where the owners were jerks . This place is good KBBQ, although the owners and staff aren't Korean (based on the name I'm guessing Chinese?). So some of the standards (japchae, banchan, etc) are missing and the kimchi is meh. But the service is great and the meat is high quality. And frankly I want to see this place succeed so the old Honey Pig owners see how well a business can do when they are nice to their customers read more

The service was really quick for a 6PM on a Friday evening. The meats came out first and cooked appetizers and rice followed shortly after. The beef choices were my favorite, but their garlic calamari was good too! They were cut small or thinly sliced for quick cooking. They frequently changed out the grill so every time new meat laid down on the grill, it was a clean grill. There is an option to take home what you cook and don't eat but it is pay $20/lb. read more

I brought my family here for the first time as a pre-Thanksgiving dinner/get together. I hadn't yet heard of it, but was excited to try a new spot. As someone who is used to West Coast AYCE kbbq, it did not disappoint! The meats were all high quality and perfectly seasoned--and in reasonable portions (it's hard to order too much, which is a good thing). The staff was so friendly and even brought my 8-years old niece "learning" chopsticks to help her get used to them. We were so well taken care of throughout the meal and never waited long for meats, side dishes, grill changes, or otherwise. The restaurant itself is clean and modern with a variety of booths and tables. We were easily able to seat 8 of us comfortably. I think this is my new favorite AYCE kbbq spot in the triangle. New place in Cary! The concept is similar to Korean bbq but this place is not Korean bbq, just bbq concept. With that said they have small side dishes (similar to banchan) that does not automatically comes out but you can order. There are marinade meats and non-marinaded. They will cook the food for u if u wish (just like Seoul Grilled). Service was okay. We came around 430pm. We were the only table in there. Our server was quick at first then disappeared and didn't bring us our beer. But that's okay, she was very nice! As 515pm hits, more parties arrived and the place was popping! The service was good. I wouldn't necessarily say the ambience was anything to write home about. The food tasted good BUT we became very concerned about cross contamination. We'd never been to a place like this before, so the staff was helping us cook. They kept using tools that were contaminated with raw meat to then manipulate cooked food. For example - they cut raw steak strips with scissors, then used those same scissors on both raw and cooked chicken, and then used them yet again on broccoli. I think it would be fine if you take full control of your cooking and tool usage. I would not recommend letting them cook for you if you have concerns about cross contamination. read more

I've been to a lot of different kinds of cook at the table BBQ, and this is by far the best in the area. The meat is really good quality - nice thick pieces of steak, not little thin slices, the spicy pork was amazing, seafood was a nice addition with delicious garlic shrimp, and a great variety of appetizers. The grill is gas (not the typical electric), so you get a nice char on the meat - which was all a lot tastier than other places. Service was great too.
