Wow. Who knew how easy it could be to get your car looking like it did when you bought it! I called David (or maybe I emailed him, I can't remember) and he had a time slot available the following week. He arrived right on time, and we immediately hit it off - even though he's 9 years younger than me, we talked about all kinds of things from our past that we both remembered. He's very personable and if you meet him and don't like him, I'd suggest there's something wrong with you :-) :-) Anyway, I figured I better let him get to work because we could have easily kept on talking for another half hour. He made our 2017 Corolla look (almost) brand new, revealing the sparkling part of Blizzard White Pearl (or whatever Toyota called this in 2017.) The very best part is that he was able to almost completely get out some abrasions and scuffs that I assumed would require repainting!!! These abrasions were on both sides of the car, and one of them was deep enough that I could feel it with my fingernail, which I assumed meant they were permanent. Well somehow he made even *that* spot look almost perfect! I had budgeted over $2,000 for body work! (Of course this is my fault for being ignorant - hopefully a body shop would have been honest enough to tell me that a good detailing job would suffice.) So what else can I say? I'm super pleased with the job he did. He's a great guy with great skills. He's timely, communicates well, no surprises (price was discussed right up front.) I asked him if he could clean the windshield of our old Suburban - I had tried multiple times and it looked like I was just moving all the gunk around the windshield and not actually removing it. He of course said yes, and only charged me a very small amount. Do I recommend David? Whole heartedly! Absolutely no reservations! David, I wish you all the best, and maybe we'll ask you to work on our 2001 Suburban (which hasn't ever been professionally detailed ever) - it would be great to see it looking nice again. David is an awesome guy and his detailing skills are top notch. also very good and timely about communication on when he's going to show up, his process, and how to care for the car. I actually had scheduled him twice.... After I saw how good the first car turned out with the ceramic coating, I wanted him to work his magic on my other car, the paint of which had gone through some mild abuse by taking it to Tahoe for a ski trip during the last storm. I am pretty anal about my cars, but these days short on time. David did a much better job than I ever could - highly recommended. I originally requested a ceramic coating on my new 911 which recently had the front end Xpel wrapped. Wrapping can sometimes make the car look dull.. I'll show pictures of - it is shinier than any wax job. The following week I scheduled time for coating a 4 month old Q5 which is black, and black is notorious for being sensitive to scratches/swirls/defects/water spots. Admittedly I didn't really take care of the car's paint and took it through some auto car washes/duckys/lorenzo type places. Also had lots of trips to some pretty dirty places, snow, hauling lots of trash, etc. David prepped the car appropriately, removed hard water spots, buffed out a bunch of hazing and scratches before doing the ceramic coating. I'll attach pictures - seeing is believing. The black Q5's finish is now mirror-like due to David's meticulousness. The 911 also has a very glassy look to it. read more

Based on a referral from my brother, I called Five Star Auto Detailing yesterday and I happy to hear that David had time to come by my house (he lives nearby, not sure how far he can go but you can ask him) to do some headlight restoration on my 2002 Honda Accord and my wife's 2005 Toyota RAV4. His price was reasonable and moreover, I was really happy with the work. My wife's RAV4 came out awesome with the headlights looking as close to new as you can expect on an 11 year old car. On my Accord, it turned out good, but not as good as the RAV4; That said, I think it was about as good as it can get without replacing the headlight panels. As for the service... I didn't watch everything, but my understanding is that he sanded the headlight panels with very fine sandpaper, polished it with some special liquid and a special electric tool, and then used a sealer to retain the good finish for longer... Overall, I'm really happy with the work. David is a good guy to work with as some of the other yelp reviews mention. He's down-to-earth, jolly, and a funny guy. I appreciated the humor and good stories, but especially having clearer headlights! At the end of the day, safety is key and I'm glad that my wife and I will be driving with more lights at night. This review is LONG overdue. I've had David detail 2 of my cars twice and another one 3 times in the past couple of years. He is, hands down, the best. I've been to others and no where do they get the cars spotless and looking like it just came off the car showroom. His work ethics is very professional and to boot, he has a great personality. He's very amicable and very easy to work with. If he's running a few minutes late, he'll notify you immediately. His son helps him at times and he, too, is exceptional in his work (he detailed one of my cars for me). Did a full detail job for my X5 -- inside and out. Wash, clay, 2 step wax, wheels, dressing, leather conditioner, shampoo, windows, etc. So convenient to schedule via email and have him come to your place. All I needed to provide was the water source and electricity. Spent over 3 hours on the job and did great work! This was my first time with him but will definitely schedule again as a part of regular maintenance. read more

While I wasn't specifically looking for mobile detailers, it turned out all the highest rated ones on Yelp are mobile (probably because people like the added convenience). After a harrowing experience with another mobile detailer, David was refreshingly honest, polite and communicative. Yes, it did take a while to get an appointment with him (his first availability was 2+ weeks out), but it turns out there's a reason why. David showed up on time and was ready to go. I don't have a driveway, but he immediately figured out something that worked for him (and my neighbors). He likes cars and already knew a thing or two about mine; you always feel better with these kinds of people because you think they'll show your car the respect you think it deserves. He must love his job; spending four hours on a car that isn't your own is because you're an artist. At the end of the day, he did an excellent job on my vehicle. It was in excellent condition beforehand but was just dirty from driving ... and he made it pristine. I'm almost hesitant to drive it now because the detailing will get ruined! Being a busy professional, I don't have the time to run all over town to drop off my cars and have them detailed. That was why I gave "5 Star Auto Detailing" a try - they are mobile and come to your house! I was driving down my street and I saw my neighbor with a crew of guys working on his Mercedes S500 and Lexus GX470, so I stopped and asked him what was going on. He told me he was having his cars detailed in his own driveway by Dave from 5 Star Auto Detailing. My neighbor said he had been using Dave for years and the results were always top notch. So I asked Dave to come by my house later that week. Dave and his son showed up at noon and spent 7 hours detailing both my Porsche 911 Cabriolet and my Lexus LS460L (red and black respectively). Not only did he do a fantastic job making each car look better than when they were new, but he was able to: 1) Get rid of a nasty scratch on my driver's side door 2) Eliminate the smell of gasoline from inside the Lexus ( a dab of gas got on the leather - long story... ) 3) Removed all the sap from my hood 4) Made the leather inside my Porsche like new again I've had my cars detailed before, but usually it costs much more - a full detailing is only $185. If you don't have that cash a $40 entry level hand wash is a great bargain. Having Dave come to your house is the best, because otherwise I'd have to figure out how to drive four cars over to some shop and then pick them up again. Dave is a perfectionist. He has to be to spend 14 man hours on two cars! After he did the cars he washed the driveway before leaving so there was no trace he was there at all. He even tried to program the garage door opener into the Lexus to help fix that issue. In a word, Dave goes above and beyond the call of duty and he's fun to just shoot the breeze with too. I'd highly recommend his work to anyone who has a special car they treat like their first born. Bottom Line Up Front: David does excellent work, is easy and pleasant to deal with, and charges a fair price for what he does. I won't be looking for another detailer as he has exceeded my expectations. I emailed David asking to set up an appointment and he responded within 24 hours suggesting a date about 2 weeks out as he's booked that far in advance. I requested a full interior and exterior detail on my dark blue Mercedes E350. David confirmed a day in advance of our appointment and arrived on time the next day. When he knew he was going to need additional time to complete the job, he contacted me in advance to let me know that it was taking more time and gave me a new estimated time of completion. He finished right on time. The results? The car looks better than when I took delivery from the dealer 11 months ago. I can't see a single spot inside or out that was overlooked. The paint feels a smooth as glass and has a glossy shine that make the paint look a mile deep. The interior is spotless. It looks brand new. One minor note, he does use a scent on the interior of the car. I rather like it but if you are sensitive to scents be sure and discuss this with David in advance. Great first experience. As I am laid up at El Camino Hospital and unable to detail my Cayenne GTS myself, I arranged with David to pick it up here at the hospital, get a full detail and drop it back off to us. He was flexible with our schedule, called prior to arrival, arrived very promptly and delivered on time. Quality was excellent. He noted spots were paint-chip repair were possible, he was discerning enough to know that for a 4yr old vehicle, it had an amazing lack of scratches on the rear bumper cover and trim - because that section had been removed & repainted months before. He did approve of the good paint work that was done. He even polished up our black painted wheels without being asked to do so. The "GTS Red" color is shining through! Pros: Very responsive over email (which I vastly prefer to phone calls), reasonable price, great attitude, and mobile service. They did an interior detail and engine cleaning of my 12-year-old Honda Civic that I was selling on Craigslist. They got practically all of the accumulated dog hair out of the upholstery, and shampooed all of the cloth and carpet. Recently had Dave and his crew detail my husband's 1998 Ford Expedition-- it had been majorly abused through years of family road trips, boy scout camping and ski expeditions, moving our boys in and out of college dorm rooms, trips to the dump, etc. Five Star Auto Detailing did a beautiful job-- I can now borrow the truck for trips to the nursery without feeling like I should wear a biohazard suit! I found Five Star Auto Detailing here on Yelp, and decided to give them a shot since I work in Sunnyvale and having him come here would be very convenient for me. David quoted me a very comparable price to some other places I looked at, and said he could be done with the job in 3-4 hours. The only complaint I have is just that he's pretty busy, and couldn't schedule me for more than a week. That was later than I wanted to wait, but decided to go ahead anyway. On the scheduled date and time, he met me at my work, but since the parking lot was a bit crammed, he asked if I would mind if he took it back to his house, just a few miles away. Considering that I just met him, and I just bought this car a week ago, I was a little wary. But he's a very reasonable person, and acknowledged that it was totally fine if I wasn't sure about letting him take it, since we just met. I asked if he would mind if I copied his Driver's License, which he was more than happy to let me do. He took my car and had it back 3 hours later, and it's stunning. I bought this car, a 2006 Mini Cooper, very recently, and it was in pretty good shape to begin with. But it had a very clear "somebody else's dirt" feel about it. He just brought it back, and it looks like it's brand new! It's stunning, and he did a really great job! I've got two kids that completely wrecked the interior, spilling drinks and food, putting stickers on the leather and leaving crayons to melt into the seats. When I turned the keys over to 5 Star, the most I expected was to get some of the mildew up and maybe get the worst of the accumulated grime out from the cracks and crevices. Search around town looking for reputable auto detail shop. Thanks to Yelp I found one. Contacted David via email on Tuesday & was able to squeeze me in on Thursday of the same week. David and his crew showed up on time as scheduled and detailed my 2012 Race Red Shelby GT500. Car looks gorgeous and no complaints. What I liked about 5 Star Detailing is they're mobile and able to plug and play. Minimal impact - just simply provided water source and electricity and off they went. Their actions, professionalism, and teamwork reminded me of a NASCAR pit crew and I was Mario Andretti just waiting for the crew to their job so I can finish the race. He finally came and charged me far more for the mini-van than he had quoted over the phone. Worst of all he didn't even clean the inside carpet. I scheduled an appt and they arrived at my house ON TIME (which is very nice now a days) and spent the next 4 hours detailing every inch of my car (they had 3 guys working on it). They were extremely polite and professional and their work was incredible. My car (8 years old, 127,000 miles) looks almost as good as the day it rolled off the lot. They were able to remove several scratches on the side and back as well as "oxidation" where sap had gotten on my car and baked in the sun for a few weeks. They performed an exterior detail, which included a wash and polish. They removed sap that had accumulated on the hood over several months (that a drive-thru car wash couldn't remove), and polished the car to a like-new shine without leaving any swirl marks (a job well-done on a black car).
