He also noticed my car had gotten some paint sealant on half of the car that painters painting the garage door forgot to cover. He was able to figure out a solvent that could remove the settled sealant and bring the car back to its smooth and shiny state. Dave and his team arrived as scheduled and did an amazing job on my SUV, the interior of which has never been properly cleaned since I bought it 7 years ago (and bore the filth of 2 kids and a very hairy dog). I just had the interior on my 1996 Honda Civic detailed today, (a cat had crawled in my window and sprayed my carpet) the odor in the car was awful and now the odor is gone! He also got out A LOT of stains on the carpets that have been there for years. I'm not real particular about my cars but I do like them to look reasonably nice so I get them detailed once a year. I've tried a bunch of detailing alternatives: detail shops, car washes, and mobile detailers. I thought they were all OK but was never that impressed. After trying Five Star, I realize that all the other guys sucked. First, Five Star was responsive, on-time, and friendly. Then they did an awesome job. They are truly anal retentive detailing experts. They put about 6 man hours into each car. I wouldn't have guessed that either of my cars could look that good inside and out. Go for the full detail service for $185. I feel I got about twice as much value as they charged me. read more

Spoke to Dave, the owner and he agreed to come by my workplace in Mountain View to detail my Rover. After he arrived on time he asked if I mind if he took it back to his house to work on it since it was only a couple miles away. I trusted him to take it away and after he called me in the afternoon to drop it back off my car looked absolutely brand new. He took clay to remove the embedded dirt in the paint, waxed it, shampooed the carpets and cleaned and polished every nook and cranny all for half the price it would have cost me in SF. Five Star Auto Detailing lives up to its name. Friendly, professional, meticulous, honest and punctual, they are a five star experience. I drove through some wet tar which unfortunately got caked onto my car. I called around to get some quotes, as well as went to another detail shop, who quoted me $300 for 5 hours of work. Awesome work, great communication, very flexible. David was was quick to respond to my initial request via email, answered every question I had over email until we scheduled a final date for the detail. Since I had recently bought this car used, he quickly noticed some issues which two different mechanics didn't notice (that the hood had sap digging into it and that the rims were spray painted to hide curb rash). I was very impressed with his eye for detail. He was also super flexible in picking up my car at work and dropping it off in about 5 hours. It looks amazing, the shine is great and the interior leather feels completely different now that it's conditioned. This is hands down the best auto detail we have ever gotten! We've gone to storefront auto detailers, and had mobile detailers come out, with mixed results (one guy damaged our car!). David spent hours on our car (2009 White Toyota Highlander) and it ended up looking almost brand new. Everything shiny and clean on the outside, and not a spec of dust on the inside. The dashboard and all other plastic panels in the car looked like the car had just left the lot. He worked on the headlight covers and completely removed that haze you see on so many older cars. Not only do they look great, but I have actually noticed the difference in brightness when driving at night. David was also very friendly and easy to deal with. They didn't miss a thing, and didn't take shortcuts either. The headlight restoration was worth every extra cent. David couldn't work a complete miracle on the half gallon of paint that I spilled in the trunk a few years back (but didn't expect him to). I decided to give Five-Star a try after reading all the great Yelp reviews - and the Yelpers were RIGHT - FIVE-STARS - just like the name! Dave came to my home, helped me clear out my mini-van (which was purchased pre-owned 6 years ago, had never ever been detailed, and has seen a significant share of kids and food in the car...), and after 3.5 hours, the car looked brand spanking new. There was one part (the footboard of the sliding door) that he joked that he had decided to replace, and I ACTUALLY BELIEVED HIM - yes, it looked THAT new. There were a few very minor stains that they couldn't get, but they were totally up-front about what they could/couldn't do from the start. I was able to call Dave and get an appointment with him within a week. Prompt, beyond excellent service. I will be making this a regular routine from now on!!! I purchased an auto detailing package for $100 for Five Star Auto Detailing from Groupon. When I called to set up an appointment, the person I spoke to asked that I contact Groupon and cancel the voucher, and to pay him cash directly. I told him that's not how Groupon works, and that I use Groupon for convenience. When I went to my appointment, he barely looked in my car and said, "This is so dirty! You will have to pay at least $50 dollars more!" I told him that my car was not so bad, and for him to point out what was so "dirty" about it. Then he said once again, "Cancel with Groupon and pay me $100 cash, and then I'll do it for you. I'm only making $44 off the Groupon." I told him that this was unethical and I was going to file a complaint. He began speaking to me in a threatening tone and said, "When I spoke to you on the phone, I knew the kind of woman you are! I have your face on camera!" This is the most DISGUSTING experience I've ever had in any customer service area. I wasted my time and now have to contact Groupon to get my money back. They will try and gouge you to get more money off you. Conniving and unethical! NEVER GO HERE!!! read more

I have a 2004 Pontiac Vibe and for seven years I have been using my car to haul just about everything you can imagine (kids, food, bikes, etc). In addition to small food and beverage spills I had a habit of putting on my makeup in the car which over the years had resulted in a number of stains on the front passenger seat. I had tried cleaning the seats myself but was unsure what type of soap to use so in the end I decided getting my seats professionally cleaned would be the best. I emailed Dave and we scheduled a time about 2 weeks later for Dave to do an Interior Shampoo on my car. As the date neared I changed my mind and decided I would like to have my entire car detailed, both inside and out. Dave was able to accommodate my late request and so my car got the Complete Detail Int/Ext about two weeks ago. I am very happy with the work Dave and his crew did. I was especially surprised at how much of a difference having my headlights cleaned/buffed did for the appearance of my car. My car now looks crisp and clean both inside and o. I hope to not need my car detailed again for awhile but when I do I will certainly come back to Five Star Auto Detailing :) read more

Before I continue - know that Im a hugely obsessive car-guy. Manic, even. Probably certifiable. Im also ok w/ spending a bit more when I have confident the results will be there. That said and after an 'ok' detailing experience years ago with another car my mechanic suggested I try Five Star Auto Detailing to detail a car I was going to sell as hed heard good reports from his clients. In short: I was/am *very* pleased! Being manic I looked long and hard for excess polishing compound, dirt, grit, missed spots, etc. Nothing! Door jambs spotless (way past the door hinges!)? Check. Trunk sealing surface spotless? Check. Wheel wells (!?) spotless? Check! Check, check, check! The interior was equally beautiful - all carpets/mats shampooed, leather treated, etc. Really an impressive job and priced very fairly. In fact I stalled a bit before selling the car because I wanted to enjoy it for a while! David is plainly a car-guy himself, knows of what he speaks, and was very amicable to my inane 'detailer secrets' questions, promptly returned my calls and emails, etc. He offered to pick up my car from my office, work his magic, and return the car w/in 4ish hours. I wouldnt ordinarily agree to this but given the recommendation of my mechanic (Modderman Service in Mountain View - whom I also trust implicitly) and Five Stars prior Yelp reviews I felt confident that David would do as he promised. Five Star will definitely see my other cars soon since I know theyll be in trusted hands. My husband picked Five Star Auto Detailing based on Yelp reviews, and wow, what a great find! Dave was super easy to work with, he was able to schedule us in within 2 days. We were preparing to sell our Audi and Dave suggested a small upgrade from the regular detailing package, one which included cleaning the engine compartment since potential buyers would likely be looking under there. On the day of our appointment we forgot to leave out a power supply so Dave took the car back to his house to detail it. It was returned in immaculate (I mean seriously immaculate) condition just a few hours later. He even managed to get every stubborn little pug hair out of the car and find my husband's missing bluetooth earpiece that had been missing for months. We were able to sell the car within a few days (at full asking price!) because it looked so beautiful. Every potential buyer commented on the pristine condition the car was in (despite us not ever detailing it in 9 years of ownership, having 2 kids and 2 dogs). A great experience! read more
