After talking to several hospice companies about my father, I decided to move forward with Five Star. I'm so glad I did. From the start, Rosario was the most helpful and knowledgeable person I had talked to regarding my father's needs. She knew to tell me things I hadn't even known to ask. The nurse at his intake appointment was so kind and put him at ease. They were so caring and wonderful with my dad at every stage of his decline. Nurse Genesis became a part of the family. She was great not only for my dad but for managing our care needs. Communication was excellent. I could call Five Star at any hour and we received great assistance no matter the time of day. I didn't take advantage of all of the services they offered, but everyone I spoke with was so kind. Even on his final day, the round the clock care made him calm and kept him at peace. This org is the absolute best at what they do! They more than delivered on their services during the most stressful time in my life. The owner, Mark, himself delivered materials to our home for my mom within hours of getting our business request. We secured them as our agency at noon and by about 8pm we had all the equipment and supplies. If I could give ten stars I would. Five Star Home Hospice is definitely worthy of its name. Seriously, I love them. Melissa has been our nurse who visits us daily and I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. This poor lady has had to endure daily (sometimes hourly) texts from me with questions, meetings with tears, and frantic requests for help and she has always, ALWAYS been so comforting and provided the help we've needed. Any call I've made to the hospice number with a concern has been promptly answered, or in times where they had to have someone call me back, they've told me "someone will call you in less than a minute" and it was absolutely true. Losing a loved one to cancer is one of the hardest roads you will ever have to travel. It's so hard seeing them in pain and not knowing what to do to be able to help them. Conditions change hourly raising questions and concerns for the family. My siblings and I are all in the medical field (I'm an oncology pharmacist) so we have the highest standards for nursing and medical care. My grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and she had only a few months left predicted by her oncologist when he suggested her to apply for hospice service. When my grandmother's condition declined, they provided us with continuous care for a while. We believe that Charde, Shae and the other nurses took good care of my grandmother. My entire family is so grateful for Five Star Home Hospice. They helped care for my aunt until she died. Then when my mom fell very ill last year, Five Star came to our rescue once again. Mark came to the hospital to meet with the family. Then Rosario came to our home to help us set up all the home care equipment that mom would need. After that, the nurses that would visit twice a week to make sure Mom is doing ok - Isakai, Brenda - you ladies are the best - thank you so much for all your loving care. Also they offer 24-hour support and I have called countless times in the middle of the night to talk to the nurses (Johnnie - thank you!) for immediate help and advice on how to care for mom when she was very ill. Our experience with Five Star Home Hospice was brief but exceptional! While at the hospital we were getting many visits and calls from various hospice agencies and needed to select an agency in order to discharge our family member. Processing the prognosis and searching for an agency became very overwhelming. There are many choices. We wanted our family member to have the best care at the end of her life. After reading the Yelp reviews, I decided to contact Five Star. It did not take long for our family to decide on Five Star. I was sold on their team approach and friendly, professional, and compassionate staff. I was contacted by Rosario the following morning as promised and she handled the entire process in order to get our loved one home from the hospital. The transport ambulance arrived on time and medical equipment was in place by the time our family member was transported to our home. Rosario personally met with us at our home to gather all the information and explain the the process. She was patient, caring and professional and answered all of our questions. The following day we were contacted by Luz (LVN nurse) and Maria (home health aide). While we did not use Maria's service, she was polite and willing to work with our schedule. I cannot say enough about Luz. She was absolutely amazing! She is great at what she does and enjoys her work. She treated our loved one with dignity and respect and has extensive and personal experience working with gravely ill patients. She assisted with bathing our loved one and did so thoroughly and in a respectful manner. Her mannerism is friendly, respectful, patient and detailed. Our loved one was only in hospice care for a short time, but Luz was available for our family when needed. She was present with our family when our loved one took her last breath. Luz cleaned her body and allowed us to have as much time as we needed with our loved one before her body was transported to the mortuary. Later that evening we were contact by Earl who offered his condolences and explained the grief support available for our use. The entire process was well coordinated. Our only negative experience was with the medical equipment company who did not pick up the equipment when they said they would twice but hospice staff were in the loop and made sure to contact the company's supervisor to correct issue. Overall, our family was very satisfied with Five Star's services and would use them again if needed. read more

Our family just concluded three weeks with 5 Star Hospice care, and we cannot be grateful enough. It was because of the great reviews that we initially interviewed 5 Star Hospice for our mother's end of life care, but it was 5 Star that kept us with them. The doctor, nurses, care provider, and social worker were thorough, kind, caring, and professional. We were never rushed or hurried along. Each one spent all of the time that we needed to get a comprehensive evaluation of our mother and answer all of our many questions. We are five siblings with a variety of different questions. It is a team that works with the family, and 5 Star was consistent in sending the same nurse and care provider each time. We made a number of late night calls with concerned questions, and received the help we needed. The nurse was always on the look out for our mother's comfort and immediately asked for new medications when the previous ones were no longer offering the comfort intended. This company truly lives up to their Five Star name. The time came for my family to search for hospice care for my grandmother this past month or so. I research everything, and I was hesitant to go with a smaller, lesser known company with only a couple of reviews, however...i know we made the best choice! We are a mexican family, and the language barrier was a concern...not with this company! A lot of their staff spoke spanish, and even if they didn't they were all such great, kind people, it didn't matter! Mark the administrator, was prompt to come out and meet with my aunts/uncles for an initial visit..soon after my grandmother was placed in there care. Julie the head nurse is always on top of things, and in contact with the other nurses, who are also all great! This may sound horrible, but I am sure a lot of families may experience this: a sense of almost regret for not placing your loved ones on hospice sooner. And when you have a great, caring, personal experience from this kind of company we almost truly wish we had been using them for months prior. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed only about 2-3 weeks into using their services. The moment my grandmothers' health declined, we had 24 hour care, Mark paid a visit to our family with coffee and donuts, and they truly were able to show they care because of the fact that they are a smaller company! There couldn't have been a better choice than a stay at home hospice care for our grandmother. Our huge family was able to be by her side and have the care and support of professionals throughout the entire time. I hope they continue to grow as a company and wish them all the best! My 90 year old mom was in failing health and the owner of her wonderful retirement facility recommended Five Star Hospice. He was impressed by Five Star's quick response whenever the facility called Five Star about a patient. I was impressed and pleased from the minute Mom and I signed papers til her last breath on Oct. 31. Julie was in touch with me after each visit with mom as well as kept me informed on any phone calls from the facility during the day. Julie and I texted for many days and nights those 3 long weeks. Sophia, Karla, and Shae were fabulous with Mom's 24/7 care. They treated her with love and respect as if she were their mother. They gave us our alone time with mom as needed, but they were only a step or two away. They also texted with me during the day/night as needed. Mom's last days were calm and peaceful due to Five Star's excellent knowledge of non-verbal cues from the patient. They could see or hear when she was in pain and treated her well and with honor. They always talked to her when they entered or left the room as well as when they were moving or changing her. Hearing is the last to go, so them talking to Mom was wonderful. I am sad that my mom is gone, but I do know that she went with dignity because of Five Star Hospice. Five Star Hospice is truly five star! read more
