The Gonzalez contract stated scraping of old paint is included, but the team refused to scrape paint off my siding saying they don't do that. I brought it up with the foreman multiple times. Well, most of the exterior of my house is siding, so I would never have signed the contract if that was stated at the outset. See the attached photo for how they just spray paint over peeling paint. I called the owner and left a message but there was no return call. I won't get into other issues, but for this reason alone, I am giving 1 star.

Nonetheless, our contact person Madeleine and her crew came out to assess our foundation and cracks and some mold from the humidity in the crawlspace. In the end we went with mold remediation, a sump pump, new vapor barrier, joist lifts, and air sealing to keep out the creepy crawlies. Big ticket expense, but when compared to the competition, we went with them because of the thoroughness with the estimate interview and the willingness to answer all of our questions, they were also well-spoken of on other review sites including a popular large community message board, and the price was pretty comparable. Also, the crew was very good. My only ding would be was not putting the items in the crawlspace back in the order that it was originally, which saved space. But to add to their credit, we have one additional project that needs to be done outside of Little Corner's scope and the new company took a look at Little Corner's work and said "They did a very good job, this is how we would have done it." I think that speaks well of them as a whole. They may not be the biggest company, but they are professional, kind, and diligent about their work. Thank you, Madeleine and crew.

I recently had a leak and had a roofing repairman come and fix it and inspect my roof. He found numerous examples of shoddy workmanship, including shingles installed crooked, exposed nails, improper flashing, incorrectly installed ridge caps, etc, etc, etc. I would never hire these guys again. Wish I could give them negative stars. Update 11/21/24: Apparently Cristian Romero is not very happy with my review and claims he never did any work for me. But I wrote a check for my roofing job to "Romero Construction" on Angier Ave in Durham, NC. Which is also where Modern Exteriors used to be located. It was the same business just going by different names. Kind of clever huh. Note that the other review of this business on Yelp called them "Romero Construction" and Cristian Romero didn't have any problems with that review. I'll be happy to update my review with a positive rating as soon as these guys come back and fix their poor work or give me my money back.

Mr. Taylor was on site several times to supervise and make sure everything was done as promised. (2) His crew was supposed to install (free) new gutter guards. They accidentally misunderstood his instructions and removed the gutters completely, damaging them in the process. He immediately had all new gutters installed on the house at no charge to us. This is an honorable person running a business you can trust to do great work and not overcharge. After 2 years of leaking we have black mold on two floors, damaged wood, drywall sheets and insulation. This company has refused to take responsibility to repair the black mold problem, although Barry did acknowledge the construction error they made which has been fixed. Do not trust this company. They cannot be trusted to take care if your home.
