I brought my car in for a smog check. Alex initially diagnosed the check engine light issue as needing a software update, which I paid for. A dealership mechanic later suspected that this software update wasn't done or wasn't done in full. Alex then diagnosed the issue as needing an ECM reflash and charged me an additional amount, but this second diagnosis also turned out to be incorrect. He kept my car for multiple days, did not keep me updated on the status of the repairs, and drove my car long distances, claiming it was to meet the legally required mileage to recheck the smog, though my meter showed he drove it farther than necessary. The check engine issue was still not fixed after these services. A dealership mechanic ultimately diagnosed and fixed the issue within one hour. Although Alex agreed to refund me, he never issued the refund so I had to file a dispute with my bank. read more

I had just had my Volvo 2010 repaired elsewhere and needed a smog done. Had the oxygen sensor replaced, new fuel pump installed and had a large crack in the manifold repaired and now needed the smog done. Was told I had to,wait 100 miles before I could get the smog done so that the cars computer could finish its diagnostic. Went in to fix and smog at 75 - the car showed incomplete. Went in at 103- still incomplete. Went in at 175 - still incomplete and then today at 275 and STILL incomplete!! He was very patient and super nice about it. His expertise was very much appreciated because I finally passed based on his recommendation that I drive the car on the freeway going 55-60 MPH for a length of time (which I did for 45 minutes) and came back the same day, today. Am happy and relieved to finally get this done!! I have always gotten my car smogged there and have always been happy which is why I go back and will continue to!!! read more

They do far more than Smog Check services, they're a full service garage. His prices are reasonable and the work is excellent. Stopped in this place to get a smog check about 10 years ago and noticed the work he was doing on the other cars. I brought my car back in for service a few weeks later and he was actually telling me things I didn't need that I was previously told I did need. He was honest. Honest mechanic? Yes! I found one. Now you did too. He always starts with the simplest, least expensive, solution first (another plus for sure) and then notifies me if anything changes. Disappointed with my experience. Looked around for a smog check and they were close by and offered a coupon online for $38. Took my truck in and after they were done the owner tells me the price is $58. I showed him the coupon and he said that's not valid because trucks are extra. Not sure why that is the case but was annoyed that it was $20 more than what I expected to pay especially when there was nothing on the website or coupon that said there would be an extra charge. If we could leave no stars that would be a more accurate representation of the experience that was endured at this dump. The techs are helpful and seem to actually care about the quality of work they provide, however the managers/owners take absolutely no accountability. We had quite a bit of work done (north of $1000) only to find out the job was obviously rushed and wasn't done properly. The car was taken back today to fix a knocking noise that was heard on the rear-end and instead of offering an apology for the lack of quality work. The owner/manager did not hesitate to direct blame at the customer. We refused to pay for the repairs since they were self inflicted by the shop. But hey, thanks for offering a free oil change and filter! That's fantastic! (Sarcasm) Save your money. Take your business elsewhere. Don't go here if you have a coupon!! They will treat you very differently on top of not being a man. I went in to get a smog check, was told it would be $60 something, I presented my coupon that came from their advertisement in the mail for $31, his whole attitude changed. He became very unpleasant and visibly annoyed that I had a coupon. There was one other guy that was waiting for his car, they pulled it up to the front for him when they were done. When my car was done I was told to pull it out of the shop myself, had to walk in and over their lift in flip flops to get to my car and pull it out of the very small space they had it in. read more

Alex is a thief he had my Chevy Malibu for 12 weeks screwed my original engine up bought a piece of crap rebuilt engine told me my car was fixed 20 different times each time it broke down I was coming up Santiago Canyon Road twice and it just stopped this guy has no regard for safety and should never be in business he is a crook he kept telling me I fixed your car over and over again when actually he was selling parts off my original engine I caught him and the rebuilt engine he bought was worth about $200 according to a Chevy dealership he thinks he's real slick he's a liar he's a thief and he shouldn't be in business he's a very dangerous person I had to juno my Chevy Malibu because of Alex I found out later there was nothing wrong with my original engine this guy is should be thrown in jail he screwed me around for 12 weeks telling me over and over the car is fixed he wasn't able and did not have the intelligence to fix the car even hiring a mechanic saying this guy can fix your car like I said he cost me over $10,000 hung me up for 12 weeks with all his bullshit and because of this I had to go out and buy another car my Chevy Malibu was a great car I had it paid off for three Years this guy sees an opportunity and he will screw you over to never go to fix N smog after 12 weeks he started crying literally telling me he was sorry he couldn't fix the car after I caught him selling my engine parts my name is Michael Sears I live in Orange Park acres and this guy should not be in business ever!!!! this guy doesn't even deserve one *I give him an F minus F minus and another F minus for is dishonesty fraud not even caring about the safety of the people who bring his car to him telling me over 20 times your car is fixed when it broke down I've had do you have my Chevy Malibu towed back there I had to rent cars in between and I am doing everything to close this guy's business down he cost me over $10,000 plus and all he could do at the end after 12 weeks and start crying and tell me how sorry he was because he I caught him he is a crook in the first degree!!!!!! read more

I recently purchased a used car and two days later the check engine light came on. I took it to Fix N Smog and I was told that there was standard maintenance that had to be done and the previous owner was not transparent, disappointingly. Thankfully, I had great service here and they were very honest and upfront about what had to be done and generously I was even offered a slight discount.
