I contacted Fixer last Wednesday to see if they could take on a small task that just required supporting a couple of bolts on the hinge of my fence. When I called, the representative couldn't quite understand the scope of my project, so he decided it would be best to schedule a consultation. I explained I only wanted a consultation if the project could be completed that same day. He said it shouldn't be a problem. He confirmed the cost would be $139 at time of consultation and that would be applied toward the total project of hired, also that would be the hourly rate. Knowing there's no way that project would be more than an hour. I was desperate and needing it to be done ASAP and so I agreed. My scheduled time came and went and then I received a notice that my appointment was rescheduled to the following day and they would Credit $15 toward the cost of the consultation. I reached back out and again reinforce that I wanted to cancel unless the project could be completed on the same day. Again was told it should not be a problem. Nino came out the next day. He was very professional, and nice. He explained he couldn't do the project the same day because he hadn't been booked for it, and even if he had, it was too cold for him to make the repair. This was a blessing in disguise. I paid the consultation fee, and later got the estimate and was in shock - the total for this project was nearly $300. I had no idea they were going to charge $89 for their handy person to walk into a hardware store, on top of charging $50 (+20% upcharge) for parts which was a couple pieces of wood and a couple of bolts and the hourly rate. My dad made the repair today in less than 30 mins with a drill and two bolts. He also used a saw to level out the bottom of the fence as Nino had also offered to do. I just can't believe the cost, it's outrageous. I would not recommend this company based on cost and also the administrative to field miscommunication. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! What a total joke! They were responsive as in they came out. But, didn't say what they quoted as far as how long it would take. One guy came out and he couldn't bring in dishwasher by himself (no dolly?) so he called another guy to come help. So he left until the other guy got there. Then the other guy did all the work, installed dishwasher and replaced the valve that broke under sink. All the while first guy, only thing he did was change the arm on toilet flusher! Here's where the joke begins.... The guy who changed the toilet arm charged $139 per hour and the guy who did most work $89 per hour. First guy said he was there for 3.5 hrs and guy who did all the work was there for 1.5 hrs. So, yeah the first guy had to go to Home Depot for the part and that was included. I can tell you without a doubt it would not take 3.5 hrs to go to home depot and get the part then change it! I could do it in less time( this is my father in laws house , so I was there while guys were working). WE WILL NEVER EVER USE AGAIN! The bill was unreasonable and after several emails, because nobody would call me ...I did get them to come down some on the bill. But, I still feel like they took advantage of an old man with dementia! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE SCAMMERS. read more

I called these folks to come help me with a project when I got 3/4th in and couldn't figure it out. They were able to schedule a time the next day (!) and they showed up right on time, got done in 30 minutes, and did everything I needed. Professional and competent. Can't ask for more than that! Nino and Andrew were good guys, and clearly knew what they were doing. Much appreciated! I'll definitely be using Fixer in the future. read more

I was looking for someone to move a gas line about one foot below where it was. My new stove didn't fit because the back was hitting the gas line. Anyway, these two guys came out. They didn't seem to know what they were doing. I thought they were supposed to be pros. I was not feeling confident because these guys were going to be working with gas lines. After they said it would take 5 hours at their rate, I asked them to leave. I asked them if they had worked on gas lines before and they shrugged. I dodged a bullet there. BTW, I hired a professional who did the job in about 1.5 hours and it was half the cost that Fixer wanted to charge me. read more

Water damage from a refrigerator installation. Please do not use this company!! This company tried to install a water line to my refrigerator but they didn't check to make sure the line didn't leak and it cause water to leak into my basement. This company form of communication is by texting only In which is unprofessional. This company finally send someone back to my home to look and take pictures of the damage 2 weeks later.
