Just had the worst experience at this diner. Waitress brought me the wrong drink, then explained that she was having a "bad day"! She then left and didn't me the right drink for over 5 minutes. When she final returned to take my order, she then repeated it back to me and got it wrong. I then waited for over 30 minutes for me food and guess what; the order was wrong and she never brought the toast. When she came back and asked how it was, I told her it was not cooked the way it asked for it and I never got my toast. She said, oh well! She then left, I assumed to look for my toast, when she returned she said, someone stole it! Are you kidding me?!?! This place used be a good, reliable breakfast stop. They have hired incompetent staff and it has gone down-hill. Too bad. This will be removed from my list of places to go in Davison. read more

We visited on Sunday, April 11th, as we were in the area at another business and found ourselves pretty hungry. A search on Google prior to our departure had directed us to another restaurant in the area, but when we saw Flag City, we knew we had to change our plans! This place is fantastic! Retro Americana in style, with excellent portions and quality of food. We had brunch, and there were leftovers to take home. I had a platter with two eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast, and a side of biscuits and gravy. I'll ask for my bacon a little bit crispier next time, but that's a matter of preference. My husband had steak and eggs with hash browns and toast - his steak was rare, just like he ordered it, and it was a nice quality cut of meat, too. The toast is made from nice quality bread, too - not cheap tiny squares, but large slices with texture and flavor. My rye was a swirl of light and dark and was an unexpected treat. Everything was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the retro-feel booths and decor are right up my alley! Even though we live 30 minutes away, we'll be making the trip there again for brunches - nothing in our area compares to it. Even if you don't live nearby, if you are traveling along I-69 near exit #145 - M-15/S State Road - you should absolutely stop for a meal. They are right off the freeway, and it will be a welcome change to the chains one typically encounters while on the road. read more

They changed a lot of things...coleslaw used to be thick sauced and soooo good, Now it's watery. We used to get the Mac and cheese and fish every Friday--both taste super over cooked now. Please bring back old recipes! We have no interest in coming again unless they go back to the classic way of how things were done. I miss my old favorite restaurant! read more

I really liked the remodeled diner atmosphere and the friendly service at this spot. We stopped here for breakfast on a trip home from Grand Rapids over the summer. Just a quick exit off I-69. My meal choice wasn't one I would ever make again...WAY-TO-THICK sausage gravy and biscuits. The only thing that helped me get some of it down was the over easy egg I had to "loosen" it up a bit. My husband liked his Mexican omelet though, so he was happy with his breakfast. I will give this diner another try when we are headed that way again because I really liked the bright and cheery atmosphere. I'll just make a different choice next time. read more

Stopped here on our way back from up north and had an amazing experience all thanks to Suzy!! We weren't expecting much walking in to the restaurant, but Suzy gave us the best service. Attentive, enthusiastic, and a great saleswoman on top of that. Everything she suggested did not disappoint. I had the sweet cream pancakes, and my family had the patty melt, the cranberry chicken salad wrap, and cheddar ham potato soup. All homemade and delicious, but Suzy is what made the experience worth five stars. A true asset to the company. read more

I love this place! It's one of my favorite diners. The food is always good. They have an amazing menu with a lot of super delicious options. They play some old music to enjoy while you munch and the waitstaff are all super friendly. You can eat at the bar or at a table, something about being at the bar makes my kids feel cool. Lol! Great location and decent hours. The diner is very clean and has a nice layout. We had no problem finding seats and were greeted immediately. Service was very quick and thorough. Food was pretty tasty but both the temperature of the food and coffee could have been a bit hotter. Portions were decent, not small but not overly large either. Hmmm... A little confused... First time visit before New Year's 2013, the service was fabulous and the food was too...The Monterey chicken was PERFECTLY cooked and juicy...YUM! Went again this evening around 7:45pm. The short, long-haired girl with her pulled-back, reddish hair was a TOTAL SNOT. She didn't give us a smile or speak nicely. She didn't ask us if we wanted anything when she threw our plates of grilled whitefish down in front of us, and didn't come back to ask if everything was okay during our meal. I had to flag her down to ask her for some tartar sauce. Why didn't she ask if we might like some lemon or tartar sauce with our fish when she served it? The coleslaw was really good and so was the fish. It was the waitresses' crappy attitude that turned me off. We won't go there EVER AGAIN. When DH was done with his plate, she appeared to quickly snatch up his dish, throw the crumpled up bill on the table and then scurry off as fast as possible...before we could even say... "WE WOULD LIKE SOME DESSERT AND COFFEE. COULD YOU BRING US A DESSERT MENU, PLEASE?" Like a flash, she was gone. She got a tip to match her crappy, unfriendly, unhelpful, inattentive attitude. The Diner looks real nice inside but the service is OK and the food is not so great. Ordered a burger and the bun made the meat look like a mini burger, it was dry and didn't taste very good either. Fries were not so great either. My mom ordered fish and chips and it was a grease fest and mostly breading (not good size fish). Breakfast and coffee there is good but I'm not a fan. read more

First impression not so good. There were only a handful of people dining yet there were dirty tables. When the sign says seat yourself you would think they would at least keep the tables clean. There were enough employees. Service was ok at best. The waitress seemed like she could care less if people were happy or not. Watched her address the next two tables that sat next to us as well. So it was'nt just us. The food was tolerable at most. I know its a diner but c'mon. The burger was ok. Soggy bun di to the fact they put pickles on the bottom. I ended up having to finish it off with a fork. The chili cheese fries were all from frezzer and cans. The fries were ok but from a bag and the chili and chese just straight out of the can. Yay gordon's. Not a bad place but i dont think i will be back. There is a big boy across the street that i habe been to and they win this round. I ate at this diner a few times on my work trip recently. Really good food! I recommend the Flag City Burger, juicy and flavorful. Also would recommend going for breakfast! Their prices are lower, or close to, any fast food place but the quality and quantity of food is much better! The staff were all friendly and attentive. Flag City Diner is a solid place for breakfast in Davison. In my opinion, the lunch food isn't as good as some other coney island style restaurants in the area though. They make a decent omelette, and I like the hash browns. The staff is always friendly, and what appears to be the owner is always busting his hump to make sure every guest is happy. Don't bother with the corned beef hash... it is merely hash browns with a few bits of corned beef. read more

Me and hubby love to come here for breakfast when we both have days off together. It is a family friendly environment, with a classic feel. We love their breakfast specials, although I wish they would allow me to order cheese and bacon on the hash browns again. I do not know why but that is no longer an option. Whenever we head south from home, we try to stop at Flag City Diner for a meal (23 miles away). The menu is extensive, with many breakfast, lunch, & dinner selections available at any time. The food is great: very tasty, generous portions, & creative selections, e.g. compact turkey balls, strawberry cream cheese walnut pancakes/french toast, various skillet breakfasts, & a Texas burger (too complex to describe here). Once had all-you-could-eat fried walleye, which had such a huge initial portion that I couldn't handle a refill. And it was delicious. The service is very friendly & attentive. Prices are reasonable. The motif is 1950's-60's, with oldies rock 'n roll playing & corresponding pictures & models on the walls. The owner is the chief cook & is very friendly & customer-oriented. read more

Today me and the hubby decided to go out to breakfast, we went to the City Flag Diner on Lapeer and M15 in Davison. We sat down they brought us coffee, we ordered, thirty minutes later we were still sitting there with no food, we asked the waitress what was going on she gave us some lame ass story about there only being three chef's instead of four and that our food would be out anytime. Then we notice that other tables that came after us all had there food, and food was continuously coming out of the kitchen, it just wasn't ours. My husband was furious, it had now been an hour and still no food, we went up to the counter to let them know we were leaving and all the waitress could say is that I told them you were waiting on your food, I guess they didn't want to cook for black people.
