Flakowitz is always a must stop when I'm in Boynton. Parking is free and though it can be a zoo with pedestrians and cars zipping in and out, I've never had a problem finding a spot. Coming in May meant drastically less of a wait than in the Winter months which was nice. We were seated in a booth and immediately brought out complimentary marble cake for the table. We ordered our drinks (a hot tea for me and a hot coffee for my husband) which were included with our breakfast specials. I got a bowl of oatmeal (brought out as more of an appetizer) as well as the brown sugar, raisin, and cinnamon fixings. Just as I finished that, my two eggs over medium with wheat toast as well as my husband's scrambled eggs and home fries with rye toast arrived. I highly suggest signing up for their rewards program. We got 10% off our bills all month long! You may see some reviews complaining about the seniors that are the majority of the clientele at all times. If you ask me, that's the sign of a good NY style deli and you just need to find amusement in it. Doesn't Hit the NY Deli Mark. We stopped by because we were craving some authentic New York deli classics, but unfortunately, this place falls short of the real thing. The food was strictly average--we ordered the matzo ball chicken soup, the pastrami sandwich, and the Reuben, and none of them really impressed us. On top of that, the service was poor; our guy never once came back to check on us after bringing out the food. To cap it off, the bathroom was a total mess (I uploaded a photo for reference). Beyond the restaurant, there's also a deli counter and a full bakery stocked with fresh bagels, rugelach, babka, challah, black-and-white cookies, and more. Came back here for dinner haven't been here in years for dinner. Delicious roast beef sandwich and potato latke is always good. My mom said last time she went the coleslaw was sour but today it was very fresh. When sitting down the wait staff are super friendly and food comes out quick. You have to wait in line for a table but once you get one the food comes out quickly. I've been getting the meltaway which is like a giant babka, and unfortunately it's not as good as 10 years ago. I enjoyed a California omelette with avocado and Swiss cheese. Paul had the French toast. Portions were overwhelming. Flakowitz did it again; Shawn & his staff hosted an amazing Memorial Day BBQ. They came early, set up beautifully, and bought everything we could want or need to serve 150 friends burgers, franks, salads, drinks & condiments. This Memorial Day our new grill was not functioning properly, it didn't deter Shawn in the least. Shawn & his staff are so accommodating & always do a fabulous job of catering our pool parties & events. At Flakowitz the have frozen quarts of soup, buy 2 get 1 free. That was my agenda for today. I really felt like buying some soup and taking it home. When I got the rest and I swear it wasn't overly crowded, so I decided to stay and have a little lunch. The restaurant is fairly large with booths and tables all around. Normally there's a long line waiting to get in, but today I was lucky. I just wanted a simple lunch so I had a bowl of split pea soup and a corned beef sandwich on rye with a latke. My server, Evan was very friendly. My food cand out pretty quick. The soup was very tasty and the sandwich was piled high with corned beef. My lunch portion was very good. My was the lack of attention at the deli counter when I wanted to pay for my soups. Three men having a nice long conversation behind the opposite counter one Lady being insisted by a counter worker and me of the register with three soups being completely ignored. I was finally able to pay for my soups, but they really need to be more organized at the deli counter. It's really disheartening as a customer to be ignored while three men are having a conversation and not helping customers that are waiting. read more

I had an early lunch yesterday at Flakowitz in Boynton Beach. As always, it didn't disappoint. I couldn't resist ordering the hot pastrami sandwich with potato pancake on the side with apple sauce. The restaurant was very busy and the service was excellent. It's difficult for me to go to Flakowitz and not order the pastrami sandwich. I highly recommend this restaurant. They also have an amazing bakery and cold deli items to go. They also serve kosher pickles on the table along with marble cake. Plenty of easy parking makes this place one of my personal favorites. I got the chicken schnitzel sandwich on a kiezer roll today and it was really good. Lots of mushrooms and onions on top which added good flavor. I have to give mixed feedback about my experience at Flakowitz of Boynton, located at 7410 W. Boynton Beach Blvd. First, the food was excellent, and one gentleman working there was extremely friendly, professional, and accommodating. He noticed that I was having an unpleasant interaction with another employee and made an effort to make the situation better. I truly appreciated the way he handled it. Unfortunately, another gentleman was extremely rude, condescending, and dismissive toward me. His attitude and the way he communicated were completely unacceptable and overshadowed what otherwise could have been a very enjoyable experience. I found his behavior absolutely disgusting and completely inconsistent with the level of customer service I would expect from an established restaurant. It's unfortunate because the food is excellent, and the gentleman who stepped in demonstrated exactly how customers should be treated. Management should address this type of behavior because one employee's attitude can negatively affect the reputation of the entire restaurant. Excellent food, and sincere appreciation to the gentleman who was friendly and accommodating, but the disrespectful and condescending treatment I experienced from the other employee was unacceptable. read more

Flakowitz deli frequently has lines out the door, so we were fortunate to get in with no wait. The service was helpful and friendly. The food is quite mid. The matzo ball soup has minimal flavor. The gravy for the open-faced hot turkey sandwich is kind of gross, leaving the sandwich rather limp and uninteresting. Best things? I was super excited to try this place out because I wanted a little taste of home (ny) here in Florida! I ordered the 2 specialty sandwiches. The sloppy Joe and their chicken cutlet sandwich. This weekend I made a 100th birthday party for my mom. At her request to have deli, I ordered from Flakowitz. We were 30 people. I ordered the deli platter of Turkey,corned beef,roast beef and pastrami. It came with cole slaw and potato salad along with pickles and condiments. Everything was delicious. Everyone loved it. And there was plenty of leftovers. Which we enjoyed for dinner. The sandwiches were stuffed and cut in thirds. We also ordered a fruit platter. Fruit was fresh and sweet. Ambiance was okay, it's a deli. Service was not the best, our waitress needs to give up her job. It was hard for her to walk. When we placed our drink order, we didn't think she heard us and we repeated it. Her response was I heard you the first time, (not necessary). Everything i always wanted in an old School deli: cranky old entitled Jewish customers, friendly wait staff ("so, you joined a Mah Jongg league"), delicious food. It's full of old men sitting together, avoiding their wives, who stayed home. It's like being in Brooklyn, except everyone is tan. The free marbled cake the bring out with your coffee is fresh and delicious. The guy sitting at the table next to us still complained that the restaurant used to give out TWO free pieces per person, and insisted to our waiter that more be brought out. i told the guy i want him as my lawyer. Pastrami Reuben is perfect. Cold Dr. Brown's. Old ladies in their faded finery sharing tables with their home health aides. Please go there before all this goes away. On the way out, stop in the bakery/deli counter area, which moves fast, so pay attention. Ignore the lady screaming at the counter man because her delivery order never arrived. The rye is perfect, get a half to go. When my wife subsequently placed an order to be delivered to her elderly mother, one of the Flakowitz family members and called to personally discuss substitutions, they were out a few things. First time in Waited 37 minutes for a table. Hostess sat a 4 top from behind me in line. She said it was because we had 2 people. I told her id like the next table even if its a 4 top. She seemed reluctant to give it to me. My server Maddy was awesome. The food was awesome. Waited another 15 minutes afterwards in the bakery. I scanned the code at the table to get a $5 reward. Me- good afternoon, could you tell me the kinds of regula? RenRen (guy had an attitude immediately)- that's peanut. Me- and the ones on this side? Is that raspberry and walnut? Renren- dont you know which one you want? Me- ill take 2lbs of pastrami. We can talk about my coupon in another minute Renren- you have a coupon? What kind of coupon you got? Me- the coupon that was advertised at the table. He then went and packaged up my pastrami. Hands me them. Not a word. Goes to help the next person. Me- im not finished Renren- speak up girl. I thought you was done Me- id like two $5 boxes worth of the raspberry and walnut, and chocolate regula. Renren- you want 5 boxes 2lbs each of raspberry and chocolate?! Me- no. I have a coupon for $5. I want $5 worth x2. My friend is in the bathroom and will meet me to pay. one is for her Renren- you cant use 2 coupons. Me- that's not what I said to you. I want two separate containers mixed. Those two flavors. Renren- its $19.99 a pound. How much you want? Me- well, give me a 1/4lb then, if its $19.99/lb. $5 worth equals 1/4lb Renren- so you want 5lbs? This went on for another 5 minutes. It ended with me telling him he had to get someone else to cash me out. That next guy profusely apologized. I told him, its basic math. Its something is $19.99. And I tell you I want $5 worth. Then how much am I asking for? He replied, 1/4lb. Me- that's right. Its basic math. Thats when the guy said, oh. Your coupon isn't valid. You cannot use it the same day you sign up and receive it. This place was absolutely disgusting. "Low grade" doesn't even begin to describe how bad it was. The food was complete garbage--the meat didn't even look or taste like real meat, it was just nasty. It feels like a total cash grab where they are just looking to take in as much money as possible while putting zero effort into the food or the facility. The lack of basic hygiene is shocking. The booths were completely unwiped, tables were left dirty, and the entire restaurant felt filthy(Sorry I did not take photos). Remarkably, there was a huge line of people waiting outside--predominantly an older, local retirement crowd with walkers and oxygen tanks. It is amazing that people line up for this. Flakowitz is our favorite deli in the West Boynton Beach area! The menu has so many options, I still order new items with each visit. They were featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives so they get busy. They do not take reservations, so give yourself some time if coming on Saturday and Sunday morning. They are perfect for breakfast and lunch. You can also come in just for the bakery and walk up deli. We love that they bake on premise, the marble chiffon cake they give you when you dine in, is our family favorite. My other favorite is their bialy bagel, more like a bread roll consistency. The ambiance at Flakowitz makes you feel like you are in an old fashioned New York deli style restaurant. They have plenty of servers, so service is quick and efficient. read more

We have been eating at Flakowitz for over 11 years. We love Jewish Delis and in the past Flakowitz were among our favorites. They have a bakery on site which is great. They bake all kinds of breads including the best bagels I have ever seen. Their delicious desserts are a work of art. Their restaurant section has been our favorite. We have been regular customers for over eleven years. You must expect to wait at least 30 minutes in line just to be seated. It was that popular. Unfortunately the restaurant has lost its appeal. The original servers were great and have been there for years. They seem to be disappearing. The new servers are not as good. The food is not as good either. Tonight we ordered Chicken Schnitzel that was burnt to a crisp and was actually black. The dining room was not full like it was in the past. I asked the restaurant manager what is going on. He said that they are trying to make some changes. I hope they can improve by doing things that they did in the past. I hate to think that they will disappear.
