Flakowitz is always a must stop when I'm in Boynton. Parking is free and though it can be a zoo with pedestrians and cars zipping in and out, I've never had a problem finding a spot. Coming in May meant drastically less of a wait than in the Winter months which was nice. We were seated in a booth and immediately brought out complimentary marble cake for the table. We ordered our drinks (a hot tea for me and a hot coffee for my husband) which were included with our breakfast specials. I got a bowl of oatmeal (brought out as more of an appetizer) as well as the brown sugar, raisin, and cinnamon fixings. Just as I finished that, my two eggs over medium with wheat toast as well as my husband's scrambled eggs and home fries with rye toast arrived. I highly suggest signing up for their rewards program. We got 10% off our bills all month long! You may see some reviews complaining about the seniors that are the majority of the clientele at all times. If you ask me, that's the sign of a good NY style deli and you just need to find amusement in it. Came back here for dinner haven't been here in years for dinner. Delicious roast beef sandwich and potato latke is always good. My mom said last time she went the coleslaw was sour but today it was very fresh. When sitting down the wait staff are super friendly and food comes out quick. You have to wait in line for a table but once you get one the food comes out quickly. I've been getting the meltaway which is like a giant babka, and unfortunately it's not as good as 10 years ago. Flakowitz deli frequently has lines out the door, so we were fortunate to get in with no wait. The service was helpful and friendly. The food is quite mid. The matzo ball soup has minimal flavor. The gravy for the open-faced hot turkey sandwich is kind of gross, leaving the sandwich rather limp and uninteresting. Best things? Flakowitz did it again; Shawn & his staff hosted an amazing Memorial Day BBQ. They came early, set up beautifully, and bought everything we could want or need to serve 150 friends burgers, franks, salads, drinks & condiments. This Memorial Day our new grill was not functioning properly, it didn't deter Shawn in the least. Shawn & his staff are so accommodating & always do a fabulous job of catering our pool parties & events. I had an early lunch yesterday at Flakowitz in Boynton Beach. As always, it didn't disappoint. I couldn't resist ordering the hot pastrami sandwich with potato pancake on the side with apple sauce. The restaurant was very busy and the service was excellent. It's difficult for me to go to Flakowitz and not order the pastrami sandwich. I highly recommend this restaurant. They also have an amazing bakery and cold deli items to go. They also serve kosher pickles on the table along with marble cake. Plenty of easy parking makes this place one of my personal favorites. I was super excited to try this place out because I wanted a little taste of home (ny) here in Florida! I ordered the 2 specialty sandwiches. The sloppy Joe and their chicken cutlet sandwich. This place was absolutely disgusting. "Low grade" doesn't even begin to describe how bad it was. The food was complete garbage--the meat didn't even look or taste like real meat, it was just nasty. It feels like a total cash grab where they are just looking to take in as much money as possible while putting zero effort into the food or the facility. The lack of basic hygiene is shocking. The booths were completely unwiped, tables were left dirty, and the entire restaurant felt filthy(Sorry I did not take photos). Remarkably, there was a huge line of people waiting outside--predominantly an older, local retirement crowd with walkers and oxygen tanks. It is amazing that people line up for this. Between the filthy environment and the terrible quality of what they are serving, I will never be back. Total skip. read more

We have been eating at Flakowitz for over 11 years. We love Jewish Delis and in the past Flakowitz were among our favorites. They have a bakery on site which is great. They bake all kinds of breads including the best bagels I have ever seen. Their delicious desserts are a work of art. Their restaurant section has been our favorite. We have been regular customers for over eleven years. You must expect to wait at least 30 minutes in line just to be seated. It was that popular. Unfortunately the restaurant has lost its appeal. The original servers were great and have been there for years. They seem to be disappearing. The new servers are not as good. The food is not as good either. Tonight we ordered Chicken Schnitzel that was burnt to a crisp and was actually black. The dining room was not full like it was in the past. I asked the restaurant manager what is going on. He said that they are trying to make some changes. I hope they can improve by doing things that they did in the past. I hate to think that they will disappear. First time in Waited 37 minutes for a table. Hostess sat a 4 top from behind me in line. She said it was because we had 2 people. I told her id like the next table even if its a 4 top. I want two separate containers mixed. Those two flavors. Renren- its $19.99 a pound. How much you want? Me- well, give me a 1/4lb then, if its $19.99/lb. $5 worth equals 1/4lb Renren- so you want 5lbs? This went on for another 5 minutes. It ended with me telling him he had to get someone else to cash me out. That next guy profusely apologized. I told him, its basic math. Its something is $19.99. And I tell you I want $5 worth. Then how much am I asking for? He replied, 1/4lb. Me- that's right. Its basic math. Thats when the guy said, oh. Your coupon isn't valid. You cannot use it the same day you sign up and receive it. Me- keep the regula. After that exchange with Renren, I couldn't enjoy it anyway. I paid for my pastrami and rye and told the manager, I dropped $100 on breakfast. Tipped the kind server. The place is an absolute nightmare since Karl passed never a manager on duty to fix challenges or simple requests and the histess actually thinks she's in charge running the worst service iv ever seen in my life. The servers are wonderful but with zero leadership the place runs on pur reputation which they are losing day by day. You speak to people in line waiting as no one guides bussing table timely or managing stafff iv never seen a restaurant operator complete absent destroying families reputation daily. When it finally came too the table I sent my eggs back they were not hot I said don't re make. one other person sitting with me sent his back to make it hot. I excused myself from my friends and said make sure it's not on the check. I sent back my food which came with coffee that i had left because it like my eggs was no hot. I finally got around to trying Flakowitz, the Mecca, in Boynton. Some things were good and others not so good. On the good side was the service which was quick and efficient. The restaurant was packed and as I understand It is most of the time. We ordered the famous sloppy Joe sandwich which I was familiar with from my visits to New Jersey, but their version is not like that. They actually grill theirs, which makes it a little less authentic so we requested ours not to be grilled. Additionally, I do not recall the original sloppy Joe having cheese and theirs does. The sandwich is supposed to be made with thousand island dressing but theirs doesn't have any on it and instead they serve the sandwich with a packet of Ken's salad dressing which I thought was ridiculous. The sandwich itself was delicious. The bread was soft and from the amount of bread on display in the bakery I believe all of their bread is made on the premises. What wasn't so good was the fries that come with it. I'll never understand why some restaurants insist on serving those horrible fries with coating all over it. I would much rather have steak fries or crinkle cut without all that crap on it. I couldn't eat them. Even though the sandwich had coleslaw on it, we opted for a side of coleslaw, which was pretty skimpy served in a little plastic cup, the kind most restaurants use for to-go coleslaw. Also the sandwich was served with half a pickle. It is a shame that they serve those kind of fries because I saw some breakfast dishes being served, and the breakfast potatoes looked outstanding. The main reason I wouldn't go back is that it was so crowded that it was chaotic. The deli sandwich was good, but not so out of this world that I couldn't order it somewhere else. They were featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives so they get busy. They do not take reservations, so give yourself some time if coming on Saturday and Sunday morning. They are perfect for breakfast and lunch. You can also come in just for the bakery and walk up deli. We love that they bake on premise, the marble chiffon cake they give you when you dine in, is our family favorite. My other favorite is their bialy bagel, more like a bread roll consistency. My kids wanted chicken soup, and I was thrilled to see Flakowitz pop up on my GrubHub search for chicken soup. I was even more thrilled to see they carry chicken noodle soup AND chicken matzo ball soup. I ordered both, and rounded it out with the salad trio: I chose whitefish, shrimp, and waldorf chicken salad. I would have prefered these to be in little containers but the only option on this ordering format was the salads smushed together, with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, coleslaw, and a choice of bread. My husband wolfed these down before I could even try them. I snagged the round of challah: it was awesome. The pickles were awesome too! Unfortunately, my kids rejected everything, even though both soups are incredible picky-kid-friendly because they have nothing visibly green floating in either!
