California omelette with avocado and Swiss cheese, tomato and French toast with fruit
Audrey L.

Here we are again at Flakowitz but this time for brunch celebrating Father's Day. We sat almost immediately and the adorable and efficient Brenda was our waitress. I enjoyed a California omelette with avocado and Swiss cheese. Paul had the French toast. Portions were overwhelming. The latest from Flakowitz is they now are part of the InKind app which saves 20% on every check. I'm very happy about that.

This stop is part of my ongoing tour of all the Florida spots featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives--and yes, I've even got a Yelp collection going if you want to follow along with my adventures. The show has been running since 2006 and is now deep into its 40th season, with Guy Fieri crisscrossing the country in search of some of the most underrated and delicious local eats. Flakowitz of Boynton Bakery & Deli Restaurant was featured in Season 6, Episode 5 ("Biscuits, Bagels and BLTs"), which originally aired on May 4, 2009--and it's easy to see why it made the cut. This place is a true Boynton Beach institution. Since 1967, they've been serving up classic New York-style Jewish deli fare, and they do it right. Think towering, sliced-to-order sandwiches, rich matzoh ball soup, and hearty comfort dishes like their stuffed cabbage (which Guy himself tried on the show). Beyond the restaurant, there's also a deli counter and a full bakery stocked with fresh bagels, rugelach, babka, challah, black-and-white cookies, and more. The bagels are made the traditional way--boiled and baked--and you can taste the difference. From the moment I sat down, the experience felt warm and welcoming. They brought out complimentary marble cake while I looked over the menu, which was a nice touch. The service was just as good--my waitress was attentive and seemed to know exactly when I needed that much-appreciated, steaming cup of coffee. I went with a classic: a corned beef sandwich piled high with tender, flavorful meat. It was massive and incredibly satisfying, especially with the sides--coleslaw, a crispy potato pancake, and a half-sour pickle. Definitely the kind of meal that leaves your soul satiated. And of course, I couldn't leave without stopping by the bakery on my way out. I grabbed a few cookies and bagels to go--no regrets there. I've been wanting to check this place out for a long time, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. If you're a fan of classic delis or following in Guy Fieri's footsteps like I am, this one is a must-visit.

Pastrami sandwich with potato pancake

I had an early lunch yesterday at Flakowitz in Boynton Beach. As always, it didn't disappoint. I couldn't resist ordering the hot pastrami sandwich with potato pancake on the side with apple sauce. The restaurant was very busy and the service was excellent. It's difficult for me to go to Flakowitz and not order the pastrami sandwich. I highly recommend this restaurant. They also have an amazing bakery and cold deli items to go. They also serve kosher pickles on the table along with marble cake. Plenty of easy parking makes this place one of my personal favorites. Enjoy!

Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich

I got the chicken schnitzel sandwich on a kiezer roll today and it was really good. Lots of mushrooms and onions on top which added good flavor. Their French fries are so good and the coslaw is very much Jewish deli coslaw. The service was good and it's always a busy environment, but other than that it's a solid place for lunch.

Sloppy Joe, coleslaw, fries and sour pickle

By far my favorite deli I keep coming back! The service is superb excellent if I could I would rate them higher! Definitely recommend! The sloppy Joe is delicious with coleslaw, fries and a sour pickle fantastic very filling! The black a white cookie is a must try! And the Dr browns extra dry ginger ale phenomenal! The black cherry is good also as well as the cream soda! The ambiance and over all vibe is wonderful! They are always packed and I see why. Thank you guys! I have enjoyed all of my experiences at your deli!

Even though they don't make their corned beef in-house anymore, it's still delicious. The place is constantly busy, and the service is always excellent. I highly recommend most items on the menu, especially the corned beef, pastrami, fries, coleslaw, and their matzo ball and mushroom barley soups. Come before 2 pm to enjoy their complimentary marble cake, definitely a sweet bonus!

Plenty of free parking lot, Entrance no steps , plenty of seating inside store . Large variety of food patties breads etc. Seating for dining indoors you could enjoy a meal. Went for brunch with sister and friend, o ordered eggs on a brioche and home potatoes, hot tea and lemon. The waiter also brings you a plate of marble cake . Fast service. Family friends welcome . Has some seating for waiting outside store . Posted some photos also from last visit also

Mediocre breakfast
Bernard S.

Not our first visit. Came for breakfast: ordered eggs, bacon & French Toast: Eggs were cold, bacon not crispy as ordered, at least the French Toast was good. Place is packed with loud, obnoxious seniors who all seem to know each other. Service is average- waited forever for more coffee creamer.

Recent violations....FYI.... Keep up with local restaurant violations! ... Today in Palm Beach Post, along with other restaurants!!
Heidi D.

Look what I saw today, in The Palm Beach Post.. consumer beware! One, should check, restaurant violations, occasionally! ( I do) Flakowitz, had quite a few violations in mid-October,hopefully,employees and management, will take these violations seriously, and be more attentive towards cleanliness, and food safety, at all times !

Famous sloppy Joe on white.

A nice size, comfortable restaurant with a cool comfortable ambiance. We walked in and were immediately seated. Moments later our server came to the table and took a drink order. Pretty simple... coffee and two waters. When she returned with our drinks we gave her our lunch order. 1/2 Pastrami sandwich on rye with mushroom barley soup and two 1/2 sandwiches with chicken matzoh ball soup. Shortly after ordering, our soups came out. I reminded her that we only ordered 'cups' of soup (see picture). She explained "That's our cup." She later showed me their bowl. Large, really large... definitely a meal by itself. The Pastrami sandwiches then showed up with their respective sides... cole slaw, pickled cucumbers and fries. (I had the fires and they were perfect.) Many people know that doesn't happen all the time. The sandwiches were loaded with pastrami on a delicious rye. This was one good sandwich and I will definitely be back. Overall a great place with excellent food and service. Most of the reviews are four and five stars which I get... For the people who gave one to three, why? PLEASE, stop complaining because of an experience that you had that can be easily resolvable. WHY do one star reviews come from people who have no connections, no yelp friends and just one or two reviews.... Is that your job. Please stop diminishing the overall ratings for these great places. And for good measure, I added a Schmear of chopped liver. This turned out to be one of the most outstanding deli sandwiches I have ever eaten. The sandwich was in a word outstanding served with a sude of the best potato salad, you will ever taste as well as complementary pickles, like the deli of old would do and even some delicious extra bread. I just loved it and I had to bring my wife back for a second visit. This visit was even better than the first. I got an over stuffed two meat sandwich of pastrami and corn beef. It was absolutely wonderful. Same excellent service. There is so much on the menu. I want to try that I will be stopping there pretty much every time I pass by. Finding this wonderful delicatessen atmosphere with superb service and outstanding food is really rare. Highly recommended.

The prices have gone up significantly while the portion sizes seem to have gone down. The matzah ball soup is still decent, and I still like the knishes and hot dogs, but in my opinion the sandwiches are not worth the price. The last time we ordered lunch from here, everyone was very disappointed, which says a lot because this used to be a go-to spot for a lot of us. I hate saying it because I have a lot of good memories here, but I can't really recommend this deli anymore unless you're comfortable paying aggressively high prices for food that simply isn't as good as it used to be. I hope they can turn things around because I would love to be able to become a steady customer again.

You should not have to pay good money for incorrect orders followed by rude, dismissive treatment from management.
