I didn't realize Flame and Skewer had a location downtown. We stopped in today to order a chicken kabob plate for myself and a mixed kabob (beef and chicken) plate for my husband. Food is good at all locations, the taste the same, but my dislike came for the portion of the chicken. We got short changed and only had 4 pieces when I swear it's more at other locations. Service was good, the purple haired girl who tends the front is nice and, just by asking if we want hot sauce goes above and beyond. Usually at other locations you have to ask for it. Flame and skewers is consistently delicious and reliably perfect for years. I love their falafel options: plate, pita, and salad bowl. Their red hot sauce makes everything better and I cannot separate it from their meals. The salad dressing seems to be homemade and I could literally drink it if I could. Admittedly, I have taken shots of it in the little cups that were unused in my order and intended for their salads. Baklava can be a little wet but still delicious. I would give their baklava a 6/10 as a self proclaimed bakersfield baklava rater. As long as they are there, I will keep ordering take out from them periodically. I love flaming skewers, it's my favorite specially this location. I noticed though when Meri works, she always gets my order wrong. I asked for feta cheese and was charge $1 but didn't get any, also asked for dressing on the side for my beef shawarma and I didn't get any dressing at all. She is not pleasant, cannot even crack a smile. When all the other girls work there they are so friendly but for some reason I cannot same the same for Meri. Anyway, this place is amazing. We came here this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was inside. The girl behind the register was nice, and it looked clean. We waited about 15 mins for our food so it wasn't bad at all. I will say I have visited the other locations for Flame and Skewers and this was my least favorite. It felt a little muggy indoors, I ordered a bowl to go and they forgot our garlic sauce (it's my favorite) so I was pretty disappointed. I walked into this establishment at 7:50. The staff was mopping the floor. Just wanted to get some fries because I haven't ate all day. Soon as I walked in the gentleman who was mopping the floor said we are closed. Our kids love the kids bowl with rice and chicken shawarma. But they have to add the garlic sauce. I think it's about $.75 for a 1 ounce container which seems like too much. I have never had Mediterranean food before. It was worth going. Beef kabobs on a bed of rice with fries and a salad. But you cannot forget the pita. All in all the food was delicious. The salad was so fresh and crispy. With a vinegar dressing on the tomatoes and cucumbers, it stood out by itself. The fries were crispy and hot. I am talking burn your tongue hot. Excellent . The rice was a bright yellow with great flavor. It was not sticky or hard. The rice was cooked to perfection. The pita bread was warm and soft. Easy to make four small sandwiches, which I did. The beef, what can I say. The four chunks of beef were not on a skewer. But that's okay. They made their way to my belly. They were DELICIOUS ! Perfectly medium rare. Tender and juicy. Wow have they lowered the standards since opening. My employer bought from here today and it was not good. Paying close to 20$ a person you would think the meat would be decent quality but it's far from that. Meat has got to be the lowest quality has fat all throughout the meat. The vegetables if you call onion and tomato and hot pepper a side of veggies were all burnt and soggy. The only thing worth eating was the hummus and pita bread. Oh and they can't even put what you paid for in the bag. Someone had to go back to this location to get what they hadn't put in the bag. This is the closest Flame & Skewers to my in-laws house. We usually get the chicken shawarma sandwiches. The last few times coming to this particular Fame & Skewers we weren't very impressed. The pitas seemed stale and they are getting very stingy with the pickles but heavy handed with the sauce. The Flame & Skewers on Coffee Rd is much better as is the one on California Ave. there are hardly any tables in this Flame & Skewers and it looked like most of their orders were now take out, so if your eating there expect a long wait! This franchise must be cursed to be located in areas with horrible parking, but out of the three locations I've been to, the one on 24th probably has the best parking- though that's not saying much. I've never been disappointed by this place food-wise though. The beef and chicken are excellent as is the pita bread, hummus, fries, garden salad... that lemon dressing is to die for! Went to check out Flame & Skewers for lunch, and I was pretty impressed! I had their chicken and beef kabob plate! It came with rice, grilled veggies, hummus, pita bread, and a side salad. Their bowls are pretty customizable when it comes to the meats. Note that if you decide to get two kinds of meat, they will charge you extra for "double meat" but you dont really get double the amount of meat. I think you only get double the amount of meat if you only order one meat, so just keep that in mind. Per usual, customizing your plate can add up! Their flavor on the chicken and beef kabobs were really tasty! My mom is not a fan of Mediterranean food, and she actually enjoyed the flavors from here! The rice was cooked nicely. I do wish they grilled the veggies a little more though. The side salad brought a nice touch of freshness to the meal. The plate is definitely a bigger portion, so you can always split it into two meals, so I guess the price isn't too bad! The customer service was great! me and my colleague (Marites) at work ordered from them thru doordash but store sending a wrong food choices! Instead of 2 beef sharwarma and 2 chicken shawarma, they send 4chicken shawarma! We called them to replace it but staff requested us to bring it back the food they send wrongly and picked it up there. also, theyre expecting us to eat by hand as no utensils given! We are working at the hospital at that time, thats why we ordered thru doordash! Staff even mentioned to return it later but give it back the food to them! While not particularly exciting, the dishes at Flame & Skewers were tasty. I was dining with unadventurous eaters, and this was not too far outside their comfort zone. The girl at the cash register enthusiastically, if a bit loudly, explained the menu and popular options, but she was friendly and patient. This is along the lines of other "build your own" fast casual restaurants. Choices of dishes include a plate (meat with three sides), salad, wrap, or bowl. You then select your meat: chicken, falafel, beef, lamb, or lula (a mix of beef and lamb, if I recall correctly). They have kid's meals available. I went with the bowl, which included lettuce, garbanzo beans, a sort of chopped veggie salad, and rice (which I left off). My meat was the lula kabob. It was yummy and satisfying, with the best part being the garbanzo/veggie salad. Other members of my party reported the falafel as delicious, hummus and pita as fine, and chicken as decent. So again, it was good, if un-exhilarating. They have self-serve pickled cucumbers, peppers, and beets available by the drink fountain. The cucumbers are seasoned differently than traditional dill, but good. The peppers were quite spicy, and I particularly enjoyed the beets. I believe baklava was the only dessert available. The restaurant was a little dirty, and it seemed most customers were just picking up orders to go. Prices are average at $7-$10 for a dish. read more

Tonight I ordered in, I was looking for something healthy but also delicious. I had multiple people over so we had a rather large order though I didn't get a picture of everything. We ordered the beef and chicken Shwarma bowls, and beef and chicken shwarma salads, some sides of pita and humus, falafel and sauce and a chicken shwarma kids meal. First off everything was great. The hot food arrived hot and the salads were packed separately from its meat in order to keep the salads as fresh as possible and not a wilted mess. The food tasted fresh, well seasoned and perfectly made. The chicken and beef were perfectly cooked, tender and well seasoned without being salty or over bearing. The flavors in the bowl blended perfectly. The chick pea salad that comes on the bowl is my favorite part of the meal. The portions were large and we were able to share our portions and have a little left over. The price is a little high but it was nice to be able to eat food that wasn't drenched in oil. Sometimes quality food cost more. I would recommend this to anyone who is over junk fried food and needs to have a nice healthy delicious meal. read more
