I placed my order through uber for pick-up and OMG THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINTMENT. Food was ready at the time it was ready and it was cooked to perfection. The rice has such a beautiful savory taste. The chicken was so juicy with great flavor. The fries were cooked the way I asked NO SALT but had their own flavor. The beef peta things are new for me but 10/10! The only thing I will say i didn't enjoy is condiments such as ketchup or hot sauce were not offered or placed in bag as I seen when I got back to work. As always before I travel to a city I look up 2 things, BBQ and Mediterranean restaurants, quite different but still 2 of my favorites. I saw the 5 star rating for Hummus Express and was looking forward to having one of my dinners there. I was totally blown away that that 5 star rating was worth it. Believe it or not - I was at a LOSS FOR WORDS - (funny huh?) when I saw the hamburger, drink, and fry combination ordered by two patrons that were sitting at our table. I MEAN SPEECHLESS! Oh my goodness! Have never seen a hamburger bun so fresh and fluffy, not to mention the contents of the burger! Reminded me of the A&W RootBeer Burger days! But wait - it gets BETTER! Seriously! Due to the favorable reviews. I decided to try out this little spot during my recent overnight stay in Bakersfield. I'm a big fan of mediterranean food and I've eaten at many different mediterranean restaurants. In my opinion, this place was just okay, but certainly nothing special. I ordered the beef and lamb shawarma plate which goes for $14.99. The plate came with a generous portion of meat and rice, salad and hummus. I thought the hummus was actually quite tasty, but the shawarma was just mediocre. It was chopped up into small pieces and somewhat on the dry side. Easy parking, gets hot summer evenings, food is good and fresh. I even heard a group of people next to me who said they come here frequently and they love it. I've been wanting to stop by for a while after my neighbor brought me some lentil soup. We decided to stop. I noticed it was busy. I didn't wanna wait too long. I was not feeling very good. I asked about their soup and what they sold them most. I ordered the beef kebab. My husband ordered the chicken fries. We were thinking OK we don't wanna wait that long so we're done. Let's just get it to go and go home. While waiting, the owner comes out and introduces himself tells us about how the food is prepared and brining us lentil soup . Very delicious by the way. Delicious and filling meals for fast food prices. This is a counter service place with quick efficient service. They are obviously working hard. The plates include salad, rice, hummus and pita in addition to the entree. For lighter appetites the wraps are a good choice. It's a small room with about 10 tables. A great find in Bakersfield! A coworker recommended this spot to me, and I am so glad I stopped to try it. I ordered the Chicken Kabob Breast Plate and could tell it was made fresh. After ordering, the meal did not come out for 10-15 minutes, but I did not mind since I knew it was cooked to order. The chicken kabob pieces were huge and extremely flavorful! We order from here quite often, but lately, I don't know who is cooking their rice because it's extremely salty. If you like salty food, you'll love it -- but I'm definitely not a salty person. We usually get the chicken (breast) kabob plate. Their rice used to be good. We also usually order a side of grilled veggies -- well, they might not know the definition of "grilled" because lately, they've been serving practically raw onions. Today I had to ask them to re-grill the veggies because when I ordered over the phone, I specifically asked for them to be extra grilled -- but it seems they didn't get the memo.
