Garbage Salad with steak and Creamed Spinach and cheddar cheese jalapeño mashed potatoes.

Wow what a great find. My family was in town and wanted to have a nice steak dinner for my dad's birthday weekend. We found the Flame Steakhouse close to our hotel and are we lucky we did! Because the Flame was FIRE! First of all they come out with a tray of freshly baked bread and blueberry muffins. The service was professional and the atmosphere was classy. The place had a ton of character and felt like it could be a great jazz club. But the food was what made this a great experience. The steaks had a fantastic sear and were seasoned to perfection. Every side I tried from the creamed spinach, loaded baked potato, French fries, and jalapeño cheddar mash were delicious. Everything I tried immediately became my favorite. The only problem was I didn't have two stomachs to fit it all. My wife had the salmon and she ate it all before even got a chance to try it. I had the garbage salad with steak and it was one of the best salads, every single bite had a great texture and flavor. Overall I'd say this is the best place in all of Springfield to enjoy a special evening with some really special food.

My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary on Halloween!! We were celebrating six years and dressed in vampire costumes. The staff were amazing and our server was very attentive and personable. Our food tasted amazing, and we got a few cocktails, too. Beautiful restaurant, too! At the end, our waitress surprised us with a dessert tree that had chocolate-covered strawberries on it, and a sparkler to celebrate! She said it was because we were the first people all night to have costumes on. We were so appreciated, the experience was awesome! We will return again for a special occasion!

Beautiful restaurant in vintage "saloon style" space with high ceilings & balcony seating. Fabulous.

A rare find in the mid-west. "Flame" is on fire in food, wine, service & ambiance. "Flame" is located in a old brick vintage store front space with high ceilings. The ambiance is off the chart. A very dimly lit, very romantic, old wild wild west saloon style space with balcony style seating. Very beautiful & a very neat experience. Once the wine starts flowing you will think you are in a old saloon where real cowboys & gun slingers once gambled and dined with the fancy ladies swooning on the upper balconies. The service is impeccable, food & drinks top notch. We had the steamed Mussels in a garlic tarragon Beurre blanc sauce. One of my favorite sauces of all time. They nailed it. It was sublime. However, I wish it didn't come in a bread bowl. Garlic bread on the side would be much much better. I have never seen it served this way & wouldn't order it again in the bread bowl. Just garlic bread or regular bread on the side for moi. OuiOui. They also serve a 12 ounce bone in filet. It's the same as the Allen brothers cut. We order them at home from Allen brothers, it's our favorite bone in filet cut. Anyhoo, so we had to have the 12 ounce bone it filet bc it's a fabulous cut that we really enjoy. Flame offers their 12 ounce bone in filet peppercorn crusted etc., with your choice of sauce on the side. We chose the peppercorn crusted version with au poivre sauce on the side. They nailed it also. The crust was super crusty/crunchy peppery fabulousness cooked perfectly. 2.DIE.4. A MUST ORDER. Can not wait to return. Added to my steak house favorites list. Highest Recommendations.

Enter The Grotto west coast food. Since I lived on the west coast for 40 years I thought it was appropriate that I come to judge the West coast authenticity. This place is awesome. My friend had a Baja bowl that looked and smelled divine and I had the steak Gorgonzola salad, the meat portion was huge and the candied pecans were delicious. I might even bring my super judgmental west coast rude family here since I think even they would be pleased at how delicious the food was. We sat in a comfy booth and loved every bite of our meal, the balsamic vinaigrette was the perfect complement to the savory steak and sweet pecans. I can't wait to go back to the grotto

I got the caesar salad on the side and that was actually better than the sandwich, I should have gotten that as my meal instead of the side, it was MUCH better than the sandwich. Fiancé picked the burger and he was pleased with it, he said he would come back for it, so maybe just don't get the chicken sandwich. Everyone working at this spot was very nice and super friendly! The location itself was very clean and staff were going through table by table and cleaning everything (I was shocked because it was already very clean).

LOUD AF on a Tuesday night with incredibly slow service…read more I like to eat in local places while we're on the road. Read about this place being historic with a beautiful bar and lovely tin ceiling. And that is all true. Walked in and could not believe how loud the single singer with an acoustic guitar was. There was a sound engineer, working a board, so he must've thought that level was OK. But you could not have a conversation at all. I was wishing for earplugs. When we first stepped in, I considered just looking at the carved mahogany bar and going somewhere else. But, we figured it should be fast and we could endure the cacophony for a short time. We were so wrong about it being fast. There was only one wait staff working that night, and she was also behind the bar. When she finally moseys over to us, she admitted she had forgotten all about us. She then took our drink order, and the drinks came quickly. But then she literally never came back to take a food order. Watched her go to all the other tables, watched her clean off the bar, watched her answer a phone call for a takeout order, and then I finally went up to the bar and asked her if we could put in a food order. Once the food was ordered it came out quickly. My husband's smashburger and candied pecan salad were both really delicious. I am a sucker for a local food item whenever I see it on the menu, and I made the mistake of ordering the cashew chicken poutine. The cashew sauce had zero flavor and was just overly salty. The chicken was fried very tough. At least the cheese curds were good. But I barely ate any of it. Nothing but regret about this choice.

Eating in a wing back chair, at some odd table, isn't well suited for dining. But, sure looks neat. The food is ok to good: Burger : The burger was really good. Has some jam sauce on it which really works. Beef has a good flavor. The bacon was very good. . Potato soup: The soup is good....but needed far greater seasoning to have it be great. Pork Wings: Again, needed more seasoning to elevate the pork. And the dipping sauces were a bit unusual. And the Asian style sauce - by gosh did it have a ton of saffron. Patagonia side item: These potato chunks weren't much. Potatoes were nothing special, under seasoned and the dipping sauce was unusual. And so much saffron, it was way overpowering. . Is it worth going to - absolutely and the place is neat. But I give an extra 1/2 to 1 star more, just because of the neatness of the place.

I really wanted to like The Table…read more The space itself is absolutely beautiful -- one of the best dining rooms in Springfield -- and it feels like the kind of place that should deliver a more elevated, full-service experience. That's part of what made the counter-service model feel a little out of sync with the atmosphere. We first tried visiting as a group of about 12 on a Saturday around 7 PM. I had called ahead and was told they don't take reservations, so we planned accordingly. When we arrived, we were told there wasn't any way to accommodate our group together -- not even the option to wait for space to open up -- so we ended up going elsewhere. I did come back later with a smaller group for lunch. The experience was better logistically, but still a bit disjointed. The menu felt somewhat scattered, and while we were able to find seating at a communal table, the overall flow felt a bit chaotic. After ordering at the counter, the wait for food was quite long -- around 45 minutes or more -- which gave us plenty of time to observe how things were running. Toward the end, I noticed tables being marked as unavailable/reserved, which made me wonder why a similar approach couldn't have worked for larger groups earlier. When the food arrived, it was good -- nothing wrong with it -- but not especially memorable, especially considering the wait and price point. There's a lot to like here, especially the space and overall concept, but the execution didn't quite match the expectations for me. I do think with some adjustments to service flow and consistency, this could be a much stronger experience.
