I will start the review by saying I am not a fan of buffets. I went here because my nieces love this place. This was my first time going. A Friday night and it was packed. We got there about 5:30 p.m. and were sat at a booth. Lots of choices as other customers have highlighted. I enjoyed the cream cheese wantons, boneless bbq ribs, chicken teriyaki and green beans. My nieces ate a variety of items. No complaints from them. Sushi bar was impressive, but this is where the reduction of stars comes into play. I found a small dark hair on a piece of sushi - the crab sushi. The other item is they did not change out the utensils to put the sushi on your plate. Some of the utensils had build-up of God know's what kind of yuck on it and just was gross. The cup of Hershey's chocolate and vanilla was a nice end to the meal. read more

It is your average buffet, but with a little extra. They have a great hibachi section that never fails to disappoint. They have lobster for dinner. I wish they would bring back their frog legs. I recently discovered the Flaming Grill and Buffet although it is only a buffet having discontinued the hibachi and grill. They are practicing covid restrictions because the servers serve you the food from the buffet and your temperature is checked as you walk in the door. The food selection is pretty good and I have no complaints about most of the food...EXCEPT THE LOBSTER. Now I love lobster but at least four of the five times I went there, the lobster was spoiled. As I sat at my booth I smelled a foul ammonia like smell emanating from the lobster. Very unappetizing. I found out that the smell was from dead, not live fresh cooked lobster. The rest of the food ,even the sushi was pretty. What a shame to serve spoiled lobster and possibly make customers ill. Please serve fresh, live lobster!! read more

As buffets go, I give this 4 stars. The atmosphere is very bright, pretty, and clean. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. The food selection is the best I've seen at an Asian buffet. They have a wide variety of meat and seafood dishes at dinner time (I've yet to visit during lunch). They have a very fresh sushi bar, hibachi bar, and dessert bar. I was particularly impressed with the dessert, which featured a chocolate fondue fountain, a freezer full of different Hershey ice cream bars, and lots of fruits and cakes. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the buffet areas, and the freshness of the food. The counters were clean and the food was never sitting out for very long. The staff was constantly swapping out trays, even before they were empty. The only reason I give this 4 stars and not 5 is because some of the dishes were disappointing. I was overall satisfied, but a few of the dishes simply lacked flavor. However, I would not want this to dissuade anyone from trying this place out. There are so many dishes to offer, that it still was a great dining experience. We will definitely be going back. Side note - but important to me - bathrooms were clean and well maintained (and the place was packed too). Updated review: We visited Flaming Buffet four times since last review. It looks like my comments were taken to heart as the items which needed improvement, were improved. The Lo Mein is no longer greasy. The Green Beans were cooked to perfection. The Wonton soup is less salty and Wontons are cooked properly. The seasoned steak is still uneatable. It's usually overcooked and the "broth" it sits in is very vinegary. If you go for dinner, chances are you are getting lunch leftovers. This needs improvement. The ribs could have a better tasting sauce on them and more of it. The grill is fantastic. They have a new chef there and he knows how to cook. The sauce he puts on the food is awesome. The service staff is the friendliest around. Polite and courteous. I am still trying to make friends with the manager but it's a tough nut to crack. But at least he has a nice personality. At dinner today, they added turkey. It would make your Mother proud. You could cut it with a fork. read more

I've been going to the Flaming Grill buffet for years. Usually most times I go, i don't eat lunch so i can be extra hungry that way i won't regret spending $13 and not eating $13 worth of food. I went a couple days ago and immediately after eating a couple pieces of sushi, my stomach started to hurt. At that point I was almost already stuffed so I stopped eating. Traveling down the state and passed by Newburgh. It was dinner time and got my fiancé's cousin with us, a hungry teenager. We looked at the mixed review and hopes for the best. And surprise! It was very good for the price! They indeed have a great selection of food, American, Chinese, Mongolian grill, self-curving station, and a make-right-there sushi section. They also have a great selection of seafood, including raw oyster and cherry clams, crab, fried lobster, baked salmon, and even clayfish. Certainly worth waking around once before digging in, and remember to check out the Mongolian grill in the back! The food quality is good. Less of gourmet but quite acceptable and fresh. The staff is helpful and respectful, and even have the crab cracking tool on hand for the crab. They don't have a soft-served ice cream machine but I am satisfied with their cream puffs and fruits. As far as a buffet can go...Flaming Grill is definitely the best I've been to locally. Been here 3 times and every time was always good. The food is what's expected of mass production of entrees. There are a few things they just weren't the best. Tried the teriyaki salmon and the fish was beyond dry. Tried the squid and it was like chewing rubber bands and some of their deep fried things could definitely be fried a little longer. But overall, everything is good. The sushi is never ever a disappointment! They have a beautiful range of sushi to choose from and they're always preparing more as you stand there. It's fresh and there are many options. Another thing I really enjoy is the fact that they have a full hibachi with a ton of choices. You can mix and match! But just like every other buffet....this one doesn't have the soft serve ice cream. I think with a soft serve machine this restaurant could top anyone elses. And if you get the Valuepak coupons in the mail.... There's a 1.50$ off coupon. Brand new in this area. Clean, very large restaurant. Enough items on buffet that you can avoid the typical fried items and have a healthy meal. I gave it two $$ but Monday through Friday lunch is only $7.49. The most expensive cost is $11.99 for the dinner buffet. All the food that I had was fresh, hot and tasty. While I don't do Sushi, the Sushi bar was very busy and they had various salads to offer. They also have a section with ' kid friendly' food like pizza. It's in a good location, easy to find with plenty of parking. While it is suppose to be a grand opening, the sign on the door states that they are doing a soft opening. read more

This place used to be my favorite place to go to about a year ago. Went tonight, for the first time in a year, with my kids and their father. The food was HORRIBLE! No flavor and very minimal selection. The ice cream is pre-packaged and seems as of it has been in the freezer for ages. As far as the 'American food' selection....seriously lacking! Terrible experience from the moment we walked in until we left. Signs say masks and gloves masks were provided but not gloves...not sure why we had to wear masks since that is not the recommended requirement any longer. The food was scarce and the variety was minima. Hibachi is still not back. I saw absolutely no staff cleaning or changing out the spoons. Then I went to use the restroom which was filthy and the women's door doesn't close...I came back to my table and sat down two waitresses started pointing at me then came over and asked me why I was sitting there ...i was completely confused then they had the manager come over and continued to question me. My family started coming back to the table and the manager is asking them if they know we and where is my mask. The manager refused to apologize to me after I asked for one. I've lost interest in going to Flaming Grill. Whenever you want to use coupons, 9 times out of 10 their picky criteria preclude you from being able to use it at all. If you need help, the staff responds in a way as if they are annoyed and impatient. The waiter service is virtually non-existent. You have to hunt down your server for help and wait a long time. Finally, the cashier check out person makes it clear with their icy cold countenance and tight lips that refrain from saying a nice thank you, that they don't really give a darn about you being a returning customer. I hope the manager sets their staff straight because there are plenty of other restaurants to eat from and I have plenty of people to share my negative experience with. read more

Disappointed that when I asked about crab legs, I was told that they charge by the pound IN ADDITION to the price of dinner service - and that if you don't finish, they charge an extra $10 on top of what they charged you for a pound or half of a pound. The only reason I could think of that someone wouldn't finish their crab legs would be if they were so small that you couldn't get the meat out. But what's the difference whether or not you finish them if they are already charging you separately for each pound? If I eat them and poop them out, they are essentially ending up in the same place as if I left them on my plate: they are still fully paid for. Charge one or the other: not both.
