Ive been wanting to try this for several years and never got around to it. Heard amazing things about it. Honestly I was a little disappointed. The owner was super nice we were the only ones in there I won't say we were ignored but I wouldn't say she necessarily rolled out the red carpet either. It was confusing to us if we ordered upfront or if we should take a seat she didn't really instruct us on what to do how to order etc. I thought the food and the flavors were really good but not worth the price anymore. Portion size is pretty small especially for the price. We had bulgogi and a beef bibimbap . The bibimbap was $17, but the bulgogi was $25 and def not worth it. I'm certainly glad I got to try it but I'm not sure I would be back at least not on a regular basis. If I could give half stars it would actually be 3 1/2 but I had to round up to 4. read more

I wouldn't peg Liberty Street in Newburgh, NY as a place where I'd find one of the best Korean meals I've tried, but here we are. On the corner of Liberty and Spring sits a wonderful establishment serving up delicious and authentic Korean fare at very reasonable prices. I've walked and driven past Seoul Kitchen countless times but never had a chance to try their food, but I'm glad I finally did. Family owned and operated, this is as homey a place as you can find anywhere. The decor is minimal but welcoming and the backyard is the stuff of dreams. I dined solo and loved every moment and every bite sitting outside on a perfect 70 something day with a nice breeze to keep things comfortable. The kimchi dumplings and seaweed rolls are a must and they there's plenty of vegetarian, seafood, and meat options to choose from for entrees. I opted for the eel over rice, which I loved, but I can see myself trying something new and loving it when I get around to trying it. The owner was very kind and helpful and it was so nice to have her tear a few perilla leaves off a plant and add it to my entree because it took things to a whole other level. Asian fare that isn't for American palettes is hard to come by in the Hudson Valley, so it's a real blessing to have a place like Seoul Kitchen, which offers guests the warmth, generosity and comfort of well cooked Korean food so close by. This place would deserve a five just for the fact that while I was there it was only one person who greeted me took my order and served me all the while smiling and keeping up a light conversation until my food arrived. The food was fantastic. I have maybe been to nine or ten other ramen shops and my experience in most was greasy, overly salted broth. Not the case here. Although a little salty it did not overpower it and there was NO GREASE at all in the very tasty broth. I ordered the vegetable ramen and the kimchi pan fried dumpling and both were great. It's a small but neatly kept place I guessing when it is closer to dinner hour she isn't working alone because there is indoor and outdoor seating for maybe forty people. If you're nearby and want to try some really well made ramen, in my opinion, this is probably the best choice within 25 miles read more

My husband and I went here in the fall and sat outside. We tried to go to dinner at the waterfront in Newburgh but it was packed and there was zero parking. We drove down Liberty Street and decided to give Seoul Kitchen a try since we found parking and it was not crowded. A lovely Korean women owns, operates and cooks the food here. Everything is homemade and delicious and very authentic. I had amazing noodle soup with perfect Korean spices and I was able to get my dish made vegan. Without this quaint, unassuming corner spot right across from Washington's HQ, our neighborhood would lose something special. Korea has been called the "Land of Morning Calm," and indeed Seoul Kitchen - with its dark wood benches and ancient scrolls on the walls - provides a nurturing spot of refuge for all of us in the Hudson Valley. For the past 9 months, Hee-Won has been faithfully making each piping hot dish for her customers, even when not allowed to seat them - During those times when indoor seating was banned, she has been happy to bring the orders curbside, or will even deliver the food herself if she has the time (and if the grubhub driver will take too long). She's a force of Nature and she stops at nothing to feed her customers! PLEASE help Hee-Won keep the lights on as we endure the "last gasp" of this pandemic before the vaccines do their job! All in all, solid 4 stars, and would come back again. Ambience: Came here late August evening for dinner, no dining in yet due to Covid-19. You wouldn't know there's outdoor dining unless you walked inside through the back. The restaurant felt very homey like I've walked into someone's grandparents place, and grandma is cooking. The outside area is the cutest and coziest place with hanging string lights. It was pretty and made it super relaxing on a quiet night. Staff: there were only 2 people working when we arrived. Unsure if both are owner. But 1000% agreed with other reviewers on the cute lady who cooks/prepares the food once we placed the order. Incredibly friendly and very cute. Food: ordered the kimchi dumplings, seaweed roll, and tofu pot. Gave us brown rice which made it healthier. All items were freshly cooked. 1. The kimchi dumpling were good, though wished it had even more kimchi in the filling. 2. Seaweed roll was very unique and tasty; it's japchae wrapped inside a sheet of seaweed and then flash fried. Crunchy on the outside, soft and spicy on the inside. Yum. Best of all, both the dumplings and the roll are homemade. Would get both again. 3. Lastly, I was incorrectly expecting the typical soondubu soft tofu stew; however, seems I have ordered a different type of soup because the tofu wasn't quite the soft tofu and the soup was closer to a ramen broth. read more

I came here so ready to love it, I even told someone I met that day about it because I was so excited to support this business. The woman who I assume owns the place was pretty aggressive and rude, when we were trying to be polite and patient. We asked if it was too late to change an order, she said yes, so we said okay, no problem! Then our food came out and it was a mixup. Okay, miscommunication, we were not upset at all, not asking for a fight, and she stood on the porch shouting at us saying she was right and we are wrong. We quickly said okay, we must have misspoken no worries! We would have simply paid for a third dish, giving her more business, but at this point I just wanted to eat and leave. We were also getting eaten alive by mosquitos in the backyard. Also sad to say, the food we ate did not had much flavor at all, and there was barely any beef in the bimimbap. I really want to support small business, especially female Asian owned, but this was not a good experience, in fact, one of the worst I've had in a very long time. If anything, order to go, although the prices are high for the small serving sizes. But avoid engaging with this woman (she had a server but wouldn't let him do his job). Also small suggestion: if customers order at the front, make customers pay for their meal FIRST. That way, no confusion, and if we want to change, too bad! We paid for it and we know what we ordered. And so you do. It's on a receipt. If we want something else, we can pay for it. OR let your server seat their customers and let them order through the middle person who's job is to make the experience enjoyable and smooth. Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I was practically dying of hunger so I decided to pop in. This place is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall. The menu changes from time to time, but since I didn't know what to order, Hee-Won told me exactly what I wanted to get. She recommended the Bibimbap with beef. She took my order, told me there was seating outside, and told me my food would be ready soon. In about 5 minutes, she presented to me the most beautiful plate of colors and scents. Wow... words cannot describe the taste, but I will try my best. Fantastic aroma, spicy, and crunchy, it was exactly what I wanted, and I have never had authentic Korean food before. Cute little place! Hee-Won is such a lovely gracious host and tremendous chef! I told her I am vegan and she accommodated my preferences without hesitation. My beau and I ordered the kimchi dumplings; he had the large pork ramen and I had the large vegetable ramen. We loved everything! Well, all I can say about this place is, "DO NOT GO, DO NOT EAT" if you are an Asian, you will vomit afterwards. Wife said ramen was spicy and very good. My only gripes are no online menu, not enough selection of traditional Korean dishes, and high prices for what you get. We've been meaning to stop in because friends have raved about Seoul Kitchen, so after seeing a historical reenactment at Washington's Headquarters for President's Day we walked across to grab a quick snack. It was 2:30, so of the 7 tables only 2 were being occupied. We ordered the kimchi dumplings to split, and we were a bit taken aback when the woman at the register said "I have a very small restaurant here. I don't let people just order an appetizer". I replied with "oh I'm sorry, we just knew it was mid afternoon and saw most tables were free so we wanted to try the dumplings". She told us that this time was fine but we can't do that again. Ramen wasn't good. Ramen noodles were overcooked. Like extremely overcooked. Tasted like your run of mill packaged instant noodle. But broth was luke warm. It might've of been room temperature warm. Anyway appetizers were great but main dishes were not where it was at. read more
