I just felt really annoyed bc the workers there would constantly stare you down and come to your table every 2 min without even refilling my cup or taking the empty plates. Wow is all I can say. I recently ate here and all I can say is that it is AMAZING. I don't say this often but you can take it from me.. The buffet is HUGE. I don't just mean the food selection.. The seating is incredible there's even a huge party room!! For $12 you can eat as much as you want! The food is tasty, hot, and fresh. They have salt, soy sauce , and hot sauce to season your food to your liking. The hibachi was delicious. The service was great I am absolutely coming back. TO SAY THE LEAST, this buffet is average. Has potential. TO SAY THE MOST LOL Visited this buffet this past Wednesday around quarter to 12! Spacious and clean establishment, also very welcoming host. You pay for your meal and beverage up front (free refills, Pepsi products). It was 10 dollars and some change for everything. They have a suitable variety of foods for children and adults. STARTER: with a little shrimp cocktail, mixed greens, chopped tomatoes, mussels, and fried calamari. Everything was alright. The sauce on the mussels was super delicious! And calamari fried just right! The chopped tomatoes had a taste similar to pico and the shrimp/mixed greens were fresh. ENTREE: I had some hibachi rice and pork, general tos chicken, broccoli and carrots from the beef and broc lol, corn, pepper chicken, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, spinach from the spinach and cheese, and cheese wonton (perfectly made). It was tasty. The chicken (excluding fried) though tasty, was not a good quality meat. They obviously use cheap chicken thighs that are fried to hard and was stringy like! WHILE DINING: The floor staff was very attentive, making sure plates were cleared off my table and I got refills(had ginger all which was very refreshing! A lot of places suck at delivering ginger ale smh). DESSERTS: included tea party like cakes in different flavors, banana pudding, strawberry sauce over bananas, two bundt cakes (German chocolate & bday cake), jello, an assortment of Icecreams (some felt like that had melted then froze again, from the way they felt, so I dug to the bottom of the strawberry shortcakes, and picked one which turned out to be good) had canned and fresh fruit, and some other stuff I saw but can't recall. The banana pudding was ok, only top layer had cookies. The bundt cake could have been better, and the fruits (pineapples, cherries, watermelon, mango) were cool. CONCLUSION: I did NOT like that they had fruits, salads, seafoods and desserts mixed up! That was so crazy to me, when everything could have been organized! Salad next to shrimp, not mussels next to creme brûlée (worst I've ever seen btw, didn't bother to try it). I did like that they had hibachi rice, pork and chicken in case you didn't want to wait in the hibachi line! Overall, as mentioned earlier, average China buffet, has potential to be better! This place is overcrowded all the time. No wonder, they offer a never ending diversity of food, and you can stay or take out, with a very weird container policy. You can choose a small or big container, but at the end you must to put your container in a scale to check how many lbs of food you're taking. But what bothered me was the seafood price... I just took 2 shrimp and the rest of the stuff was rice and meat. They charged me the full price of a seafood container (reminds me that episode of "The shrimp incident" with Larry David...), I was penalized!!! But that's fine... I did not read the policy when I get in :( ... But what really bothered me at all, was the rudeness and impolite way this people treated me, a customer, in their restaurant. Okay I normally would not give buffets a 4 star review but this place kinda deserves it. Ironbound Newark is filled with run of the mill places and lackluster Chinese restaurants. This place gives the neighborhood some hope at hibachi and Chinese. The place is super clean and huge! And the food was super fresh and had a great selection. I have a shellfish allergy and wanted Hibatchi. 1. The shrimp was behind the chicken which in turn I could not get the chicken because there was cross contamination of food, because people were dropping shrimp in the chicken. I tell the man doing the cooking I have an allergy and asked nicely to cook my food separate. But instead of honoring my request, I was laughed at. Tried speaking to a manager, but no apology, and with a different chef, same thing....he cooked my food with others and touched my food with the same spatchula all the other plates with shrimp on it was touched with. I asked for my money back and get told there is other food to eat than Hibatchi. Mind you I would say about 1/3 of the food had some type of shellfish in it. Overall, this is a really good addition to the mostly Portuguese/Brazilian restaurants in the area. Bring on the diversity! The place is very new and probably fits close to 200 people (my guess). They have the typical Chines buffet items, but they also have a small sushi area (which surprisingly is pretty good compared to other buffet places and even some sushi restaurants). I want to start off by saying that my 5-star rating is because of the balance between quality/variety and price. If this place increased their price it would be rated lower (currently $13 for dinner). Pros: There is a pretty good selection. Traditional American Chinese food, a hibachi section, sushi, pizza, mac n' cheese, soups, salads and desserts. They even have a sauce section. Most of what I have tried I really enjoyed, in particular the hibachi, vanilla cake, crab salad and green beans. Cons: There isn't too much of a variety if you don't eat meat. It is also hit-or-miss if you get a good hibachi guy. This isn't a critique on the restaurant, but on the jerks who go there, there is a sauce section for everyone to share but selfish jerks keep taking whole bottles to their table leaving a sparse selection. Odd: The lay out needs work. There is cold apps near the fruit which is near the puddin which is near the salad. It's weird but not annoying. You also pay before you sit which is odd and also annoying because I've been there a few times and have wanted to add coffee or ice cream to-go but was deterred because I already paid. Also, it means that I have to have tip money in cash because I am NOT tipping before know what kind of service I get. The price of admission is actually very affordable for the buffet. Most of the food is good to me, at least to my standards. The sushi does not seem to be spoiled or rancid, and the Chinese food tastes is excellent. There's no off taste and there is a variety of food. Seafood, Chinese, Japanese, American, Italian and maybe even more but that's all I can think of. Don't expect luxury if that's what you're used to and the place looks a little run down. It seems over the years the customer service is getting worse. The waiters used to be more charismatic or seemed to be more interested. Great parking space. The food is fresh and the staff have all been decent. Some very nice, others just get drinks. It's a pretty popular place but good hot food is what you will get. The ice cream bars are not real ice cream. It's more like ice water frozen cloudy bars but definitely not real ice cream.
