The Flaming Wok is located right in the middle of the University Place foodcourt. When touring the different establishments, samples of the sesame chicken were being passed out. I liked it enough to try it. The fried rice was good and I liked the taste of the sesame chicken. My biggest problem was that the food was lukewarm (at best). This is especially troublesome because Chinese food is best enjoyed at blazing temperatures. This owner will deceive you steal your money!! We said we wanted a small combo in their face, and they agreed and then asked if we wanted an egg roll, not knowing they would charge us for a large combo (with only an egg roll!!!!!). I asked for a drink at the end and he gave me a large, which I didn't know was a large until he handed it to me after paying. We looked at our receipt and found we paid $6 more than we ordered for with the two combos and drink. Food was super mid. Tasted like it'd been sitting there for a few hours. I went over to ask for a refund after realizing how much he up-charged us, and he protested! After I persisted and called him out on all of his shady tactics, he said he was sorry but wouldn't give us a refund. Really petty and deceitful owner. read more

The owner has been seen many times in the bathroom after doing a number 2 and not washing his hands. Not just my coworker but other workers. He has been spotted using a knife to clean his toenails. The orange chicken sample was good, I ended up ordering orange chicken and BBQ chicken. The orange chicken was the only thing in my combo I could eat. The BBQ chicken's smell alone made my appitite jump ship. The rice was all mushy and was more like rice pudding. Their noodles were very salty, and The wontons were okay but very grainy i could actually feel the grains of sugar in them. If I could write a review and give them a 0 I would. We went during an afternoon at the mall and it was a busy day! 'It was pretty loud but they caught our attention with a free sample. We tried the sesame chicken, sweet & sour chicken and the bourbon chicken with rice and noodles and it was SO GOOD! They LOADED us with food! If nothing else seeing by for the free sample usually being handed out. $6 for the small page with 1 item but they do not skimp on the serving so it overflows to the second item portion of the tray. Best value in the food court. I prefer over panda. The sesame chicken is sweet (good for some, not for others). I have stopped by the mall just for the Chinese food here. The food isn't the best Chinese food you've ever tasted but if you're craving Chinese and need something quick, this is definitely better than going to panda (in my opinion). Mall food court food has a bad reputation, and deservedly so. This place is the exception. I ate here just about once a week for five years. They recognize the regulars and give them extra food. I know, you're thinking that's maybe a mixed blessing. If if you want a quick lunch, for a good deal, and you like to people-watch, you could do worse than the University Mall Food Court, and the Flaming Wok. read more

Unfortunately there was quite a bit of someone else's hair in our food. When talking with the staff, they were very rude about it and refused to believe us about the hair, although it was obviously there. The older woman, possibly owner, came out of the kitchen and started being racist towards my mother and me. After a long wait, they threw the cash and coins from our refund at us. Brought the hot sauce to the table which I was eating at and they literally yelled at us for having it at the table when they have multiple at the register. They are quick but the food has very little flavor. I put tons of soy sauce but it still seemed flavorless. The meat has a wet chewy fake texture as if some kind of artificial additive was added to make it go farther. The cabbage was undercooked. This place used to taste better. It needs to taste more like Panda Express. One time our noodles were really burnt. The flavor in the veggies (sugar?) was the most flavorful. You would think the meat dishes would have more flavor but the meat had very little flavor as if it had been boiled and then the juices were drained off it. The staff were friendly though. This is my favorite place to get Chinese in Utah county. They always have great service. The price is extremely fair for the amount of food that they give. My favorites are the BBQ chicken and the sesame. I choose flaming wok over Panda Express every single time. read more

This place is seriously one of my favorites! Always super friendly staff, offering samples, and available to help. I always go with their fried rice and BBQ chicken--SO GOOD!!
