The day has come where I'm writing a bad review and it's not about bad service, lousy food or outrageous prices. Instead, it's about a visibly angry manager. I had high hopes for this place and I didn't even make it to ordering a meal before I'd completely lost my appetite. After watching the manager, not-so-subtly, lose his cool on one of the female staff members, I promptly asked for my bill, left, won't return and won't recommend. Unfortunately I don't think that they care for customer's or your business. Waited nearly 30 minutes at our table waiting for someone to take our drink and/or food order. We were starving and were planning to order a lot, and while the chef was pleasant to talk to (they seated us at a counter over looking the kitchen) the staff and attentiveness left a lot to be desired. Wouldn't recommend unfortunately. To me personally, it speaks volumes when basic customer service is not met and hopefully they learn from this. read more

Spent an evening in the Flamingo Lounge in May 2023, an evening or two prior to my son's nuptials in Seward, Alaska. Eclectic ambience (the story I heard was that it was once a strip joint, but I cannot confirm or deny that) so big button & tuck leather booths, and 40s style, decorations, and interior decor. Nice menu, and the food was good, as were the drinks and the service. read more

Recommended to us by a local!! Terrific food, service & atmosphere! It's a hoot to look at all the old liquor bottles. The chowder was delicious as well as the salad. The date cake made our day! Even at the end of the season it was busy, but we weren't rushed or ignored. Parking on street was easy. read more

Beautiful decor! It was just my hubby and myself so we were seated right away but if you have a large party high recommend reservations 2 weeks in advance. Cesar salad was amazing and hubby got the 28 dollar sandwich which was amazing. Friendly staff and if you are in Seward it's a must do to for dinner. read more

What a fabulous find in Seward! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere and vibe were fantastic! The decor was endlessly interesting from the glass walled bottles to the art deco ceiling, we felt as if we had entered into a time capsule. Was in AK for honeymoon. Food was absolutely 5 star. Ambiance sucked eggs ... zero stars. Owner heard about it. We ordered a reasonable amount of food ... 1 cup of soup ... 1/2 lb tanner crab legs, 6 oz deep fried halibut (OMG great), sides of broccoli and glazed carrots (also OMG) but (a) it all came out at the same time and (b) could not fit on the ridiculously small table we were at. Imagine the table being seated beside you apologizing for hitting your crab legs as they try to get seated in worse than Southwest Airlines seating! Owner heard my frustration I was never returning. I heard how they inherited the seating which got a response I can write ... "You are in total control of your seating density". I left and wife explained things perhaps more rationally. Food was good! Our party had beef and sides (no fish this time) and all were delicious. Ambiance is 'cool', but unfortunately a number of people bring their young children to this restaurant and it's really not that kind of place. In addition, the music could be different and add to the 'lounge' vibe. Lastly, our server did everything but tell us to hurry up...and we really weren't lingering. We wanted to have a cocktail and then order. In addition, she definitely wasn't interested in offering us dessert, coffee or an after dinner drink...the bill was ready. Great vibe and open year round in Seward. The decor is vintage lounge/cocktail bar but the food and cocktails are thoroughly modern. We started by sharing the Sourdough Bread with rosemary honey butter, which took the edge off. I had a pumpkin amber ale since its October, hubs had a BBQ Weather, a sweetly smoky old fashioned. For entrees the Bucket of Butts (halibut) was crispy and the fish was delicious. The Plain Jane Burger was reportedly delicious. Sides are large enough to share, the fries were not hand cut, but tasty. The brussels sprouts weren't my favorite, they were on the mushy side, rather than crispy and overly sweet. Dessert was a shared monster cookie with ice cream, and it was plenty big, four people could easily share it. We also tried two dessert cocktails, which were fantastic, The Ode to Thornes and a Mint Cookie concoction whose name I can't recall. Both were delicious but a generous pour. read more

This is a great casual place for drinks and food in downtown (4th street). Sit at a table or at the bar. Great service regardless. And it's probably one of the few places you can have dinner with your kids (under 21) in the evening. We enjoyed some very generous appetizers sitting at the bar while having our drinks served up by a fellow Floridian bartender. read more

Check your credit card statement if you booked reservations! We had a good dinner and the food was great. Service was ok. The bummer came with the Tock reservation system. We booked ahead and had to pay a "high season" deposit that was supposed to be refunded on our dinner bill. However they never asked about it when we paid the bill so I just assumed that once we checked in for the reservation they would refund it. Not the case. Luckily, we were still in Seward the next day and I checked our credit card and the charge was there. I stopped in and the hostess was rude about it "I guess we just missed that" and asked me to write my credit card number on a post-it note, so they could check into it later. Coincidentally another gentleman came in with the same issue of no refund for the reservation fee and a different staff member came up to help him and refunded his card right away. So I asked that staff member to help me versus leaving the card on a post it and he was super helpful and apologetic. If they are going to charge ahead of time they need to get a better system to deduct from your bill or refund the fee. There are a bunch of restaurants on this street, so plenty of choices other than this. read more

We had a delicious meal - fried pickles and sourdough bread as appetizers. Then the flank steak and petite filet as our entrees with a delicious loaded baked potato and the carrots. Everything was fantastic and our server Cheyenne was great! She definitely knew the menu, answered our questions and was super attentive. Cool place - very 50's/60's vibe. It was packed on June evenings. Make a reservation to ensure seating. Prices are high, but that's been true of every meal we've had so far in Alaska. Interesting array of house cocktails. Our party had halibut, strip steak and the $28 steak sandwich. All were excellent. I was charged $33 for the $28 steak which was likely due to the cost of the fries ($5) which I never received. The one thing I think the Flamingo needs to fix is their seating system. The system itself seems to be very slow. Staff had difficulty keeping track of tables for seating. There are bar seats and counter seats at the kitchen which add to the confusion. The hostess was juggling reservations, people who were on the wait list and those who wanted to grab a seat at the bar. That's normal for a busy restaurant, but here seating was not well managed. All that said, if you make a reservation you will get in and have an enjoyable meal in a place that has a neat vibe. read more

This place is amazing! The staff is so nice, the vibe is great, and the food is superb: I am from New York City and this bar reminded me a lot of the hidden gems back home. While the aesthetic of the bar reminds me of New York it's manages to maintain the Alaskan feel. The halibut is tasty and so is their dirty martini, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and sourdough bread with rosemary butter. I wish locals would mention this spot more to tourists- you MUST try it for yourself. read more

Wow. Did not expect such a treasure during off-season in Seward. Some of the best cocktails I've had in the state, maybe the best fried pickles I've had anywhere, and all of our meals were on point. All with great service and a perfectly curated vibe that was clearly crafted by someone with a love for kitschy Americana. One of my new favorite restaurants/bars in the state. To the point where I'm now trying to figure out how to visit Seward again soon just to be able to come back for another meal. read more

I'm not a fan of 5-star reviews. I'm picky about customer service, and there is always room for improvement. Almost always. From the minute we stepped in the first night for pre-dinner drinks we loved it. Welcoming staff and a fun atmosphere made it feel homey and inviting. The drinks...taste and dress are on point. We had fried pickles (usually too greasy or fall apart while eating them) that were the best I've had. We did not eat dinner there the first night (an error we realized later), but def wanted to try their "real food" before we left. Went there the next night for drinks and dinner. Again...a great experience and the food was SO good! The crab is amazing, sweet and easy to pull from the shell. Baked Alaska is a must try here as well.
