Food did not disappoint! I loved it here. Corn bread and butter was like crack. I had jerk chicken and French toast, my brother had a Rasta pasta. Both were phenomenal. Drinks were on point too! This place is small, but cheerful, colorful, and has a welcoming, homey vibe. The service was slow, but that clearly was because the food was being prepared as it was ordered. Also the waitstaff was extremely pleasant, friendly, and helpful. The food was completely fresh, and very high quality. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous. As a result, people at literally every table were taking to-go boxes of food away with them. We had the fried catfish strips, macaroni and cheese, and fried chicken and waffles. The chicken was excellent--crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. The catfish strips also were moist and tender inside. They had covered outside seating perfect to keep us dry and keep the baby from bothering guests. We got burgers & chicken fingers. They were so fresh and cooked perfectly! This place is fantastic! The owner and chef, Nikki, is friendly and incredibly talented. The decor inside is simple but fun with a beautiful mural and bright colored walls making the small space feel warm and inviting. The house made lemonade is delicious with different flavorings, the passion fruit was excellent! The shrimp and grits (with cheese!) were incredible. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sauce was creamy and flavorful. The jerk chicken was amazing and paired well with the collard greens and sweet plantains. The collard greens had chunks of pork and a splash of acid that cut the richness, SO GOOD! The pancakes were sweet, almost funnel cake like, with a dusting of powdered sugar. (disclaimer, ive lived in brooklyn for 8yrs so im not just a tourist stopping by). the interior is so cute, the staff is great, and the music is great too the chef came out to check on us and she was lovely. the menu is awesome, i tried the jerk chicken+waffles with their mango+pineapple+ginger lemonade and it was all so lovely. my friend got their chicken roti with side of plantains and she loved it, and she is indian-am so she def has opinions on curry+rotis. now, they ARE new so they dont have their liquor license yet, and it was a tad chilly (they had a portable heater in the middle of the space). we'll be back, and can't wait to try more~! good luck read more

I came in for the first time today and although the take-out pick up is setup kinda weird (and by that I'm referring to how the orders are placed at a stand right next to the entrance to the kitchen), it was a great experience! I am testing a few menus nearby to determine the right place to get catering from for an event at my church, so I was trying to mix and match a few things on the menu so that I could taste as much as possible without have to order 5 different brunch entrees. Unfortunately the menu doesn't really lend well to customization because there aren't any options to get just a side of pancakes (e.g 1 as opposed to 3), so I was mad indecisive but the waitress ( don't know her name but she had short hair) was very patient and stayed attentive to me. Shoutouts to her, 5 stars for the service. I ended up ordering the berry french toast and the chicken and waffles. The French toast was elite. The compote wasn't too sweet and went perfectly with the creme anglaise. However the toast was burnt on the edges, so I would knock it down to 4 stars. The fried chicken was really flavorful and I really enjoyed it, but I wasn't feeling the waffles because they were kinda chewy and soft as opposed to crisp on the outside withe a soft inside, which I prefer. Had a lovely leisurely brunch at Flamingo Baby on a Saturday morning and the food was absolutely fantastic. I had the 3 eggs anyways along with cheesey grits, and my partner had the banana stuffed french toast. I am not usually one of those people who take photos of their food but holy moly look at these!! Honestly the hardest part is choosing what to order from the menu -- which (at time of writing this) the Brunch section wasn't available online so if you're curious here's some of what they had to offer on top of their regular menu: Pancakes topped with fruit, banana stuffed French Toast, 3 Eggs anyway you like them with grits or potatoes, Egg Sandwich on brioche or croissant, Shrimp and Grits, and Chicken and Waffles. THE FOOD IS TO DIE FOR!, Beautifully plated, with big portion sizes, just ready for you to dig in. This place attracts great guests as well, I felt like I was at dinner with friends just catching up. Leaving 3 stars mainly for the service. The food and drinks are TOP-NOTCH! But I have been here a total of 5 times since February 2023 and the service is almost always lacking. This past time was the first where i've had to wait almost an hour to be seated (party of 2) and there were multiple visible empty tables. I assume it was because of the lack of trained wait staff (there is 1 person seating, taking orders, making drinks, and running food). But i've also been here when my party was the only in the restaurant and while we didn't have to wait to be seated, the wait for the food is consistently over 40minutes (it's only 1 cook I think). The 1I think being that this restaurant has been open for well over 6 months, hiccups like this should've been dealt with much long ago. But the fact that I am receiving the same quality of service in July that I've had in February is terrible. Once they have that situated, this place has the makings of being 5-star. It's a small but very cute and intimate space and the music is usually a great variety of all genres. I hope in the coming months they can acquire the staff they need to run this place smoothly. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Went in here at 1:30 on a Saturday for brunch and while I was seated promptly, the wait for food took more than an hour and a half. Got tired of waiting so I decided to leave but no one on the staff seemed apologetic or concerned by the long wait. I also had to wait more than 10 mins to pay as I was leaving, and was barely acknowledged by anyone. I'm not sure how a business can be run with such disorganization and no care for customers but good luck to the people who choose to dine here. read more
