I live in Hoboken and was trying to find a reasonable place to get my oil changed. I saw that a regular oil change is $25.95 but I also knew that I'd be charged for a new filter and yadda yadda and I'd be happy with anything under $40. The mechanic (nice guy) told me right away that it'd be $39.95, which was great because I like knowing up front how much it will be. As I was sitting in the waiting room (small and had a bit of a weird smell which is why this review gets only 4 stars) I noticed a sign that said something about texting the word 'flashlube' to a number and get $5 off your purchase. I did that and when I went to pay I the receptionist just asked to see the text message and took $5 of my bill. Total charge was $37 and change. I'd recommend this place just based on the fact that the manager responds to Yelp reviews (the main reason I went actually) and the staff was professional. This is my go to for an oil change, they are quick, easy and pretty decently priced. There is no reason to pay full price here, you can text, get a card, send a smoke signal to get a $5 coupon and they will tell you about it. I am usually in and out in 20 minutes, if that. Last time I went they said my brakes were shot, they even showed me to show me they weren't trying to fleece me. They were indeed dangerously low. I got new front brakes right there in about an hour for about $140. Not bad, you'd pay twice that at Pep Boys and it would take 4 hours. Even if you say no to what they are suggesting needs replacing, they just shrug it off and say "ok" no stupid forcing you tactics, just ok, that's cool, I respect that. My husband brought his car here in February 2016 to have his battery replaced. The car wouldn't turn on the same day because they didn't reconnect the new one properly, after charging us an unheard of $200. Today, 2 1/2 years later, he had to bring the car here for something totally unrelated, and they tell him he needs another new battery, which makes no sense considering how recently we replaced it. He does it anyway to be on the safe side, but again, they didn't connect it properly, it disconnected itself, and now we're currently stuck far from home with a car that won't start. And out another $200. How you guys have so many good reviews is completely mind blowing. read more

You come in for an oil change, which is reasonably priced, but they'll try to up-sell you on services you don't need. They'll use the fact that you know less about cars than they do to make you think you need something like an engine flush, which 99% of people don't need, and when you do get it, there's often more harm in it than doing nothing. That's exactly what happened to me. Came in for an oil change, and within 5 minutes the tab was up to $300+ with filters and oil flush. Good thing they show you the tab on the screen before proceeding, because unless you speak Spanish, you won't really understand what they're telling you. I just declined everything besides the oil and made out OK. So, be careful here. read more

I took my car to get an oil change on Friday 10-19-18. I've been here several times in the past and never had a problem. So I'm thinking everything is fine just a normal oil change but on Monday 10-22-18 I noticed my oil light turned and and I didn't understand why. I took the car back to flash lube and told one of the guys my oil light came on. He opened the hood and checked it out only to tell me I have an oil leak. I was in shock i couldn't understand why the other guy would perform an oil change on Friday without letting me know I had a oil leak. Prior to this I didn't have an oil leak everything was fine I didn't have no oil light on. I still don't understand why he didn't tell me I had a oil leak before or after the oil change was done. Something doesn't feel right about this place now that I had time to think about what happened. Didn't feel like going to my Honda service center, so I brought my 2012 Honda Civic for an oil change. The mechanic insists it uses Synthetic oil and they charged me $59 ($5 discount) on what usually costs me $29.99 in my dealer on Rte 22. I brought my 4Runner yesterday to get a standard oil change and to have one of their mechanics take a look at a leak I had. Now let me be clear, I know nothing about types of auto fluids. When asked what kind of oil I'd like the mechanic quickly picked up on the dumb look I gave in return and began asking how much I drive, how many miles on the car etc. He gave me a solid suggestion and the reason for the suggestion... Sounds great, lets do that. Then comes the leak. I need something to do with my transmission. I did my best to remember what was needed and then the mechanic mentioned a transmission expert down the block. Mind you this was done in about 30 minutes. I saw three other guys come in and go with simple oil changes in 10-15 and all were very happy. I was very happy with my experience here and will continue to come back even though there is a place maybe a quarter mile from my residence. 5 stars read more

Only been here for oil changes so can't comment on all services but as they advertise, the oil change is very quick. Go early when there's no line and you'll be done in 10-15 minutes. I went in to have my break pads changed. Like many things it had been done WRONGLY by Mercedes of Ft. Lauderdale. As a result it took 10 hours 9 of which were spent trying to dislodge the pins that hold the pads in the calipers. I'll keep this short and sweet... they stayed on it and on it and on it and got it done. I can't imagine better care from anyone but from an auto repair shop?? AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you need your oil changed I know a GREAT place because I was there watching them change 50 of them yesterday. More important you can TRUST them. Very professional, great hours, perceptive, quick. I went here needing an oil change on my (new) used car, not knowing exactly what was wrong with it. They recommended synthetic since my car is European and has high miles, then noticed also I needed an engine flush, radiator flush, transmission flush, and power steering flush. Most places you'd think they were just taking advantage, but I actually needed all this stuff, and they took care of it for me quickly. I probably would have paid more other places, and now my car is running great! My regular mechanic didn't bring any of this to my attention and it could have cost me a lot more down the road to repair the damage from not having this done. read more

Stay away from this business and be wary of fake reviews here. the mechanic does not comminicate like that please. I always support local business but Flashlube can go fuck themselves. I live on the same block so I use their service out of convenience. Had oil change few times so my bad experience with them is not a one time thing. like many people mentioned here, they will always find some bogus fault on your car just so they can charge you more. my wife doesnt know much but we always end up paying a lot for simple oil change. the cashier lady speaks english but totally useless. they are there to open register and thats it. any product or car related question, she defers to the mechanic right away. now the mechanics hardly speaks english but thats ok i guess but found it super challenging to communicate with them esp when you have to explain things. why cant the english speaking cashier lady take the customer instructions and relay it to the mechanics? heres an example of what happened recently. my car is in bad shape and one warning is coolant. i figured id walk across and buy one from flashlube. super simple right? told the cashier i want to buy a coolant. g12++. very specific. cant miss it. she immediately told me i should talk to the mechanic (why? dont know). mechanic said bring the car they will do it. told him im not comfortable driving and really in a hurry and prefer to just buy it and fill it myself. he straight told me "go to autozone". tried explaining my situation but he didnt understand. just repeated the same phrase. ok i get it you need to earn too from service. next day i brought my car for service. ready to support this local business yet again despite their crappy sevice. parked and waited. was about to bring the car to garage and they stopped me. told me I should wait just like others. I just did that. was he being personal with me? dont know. i pointed out there was no one else before me but he said "wait in the office". i was in the office but ok, again i asked if i can just buy coolant. i offered to pay the labor service on top of the coolant price since I consider my time more valuable than what they would charge me for. his answer "go to autozone" mockingly. when I asked why, he said "no coolant". whisking us away. was i being unreasonable? i was never rude or confrontational so i didnt understand the way they treated us. living next to the shop, I couldve been a lifetime customer. but nope. not going back. ill just go to autozone. neighbors, pls stay away from this business. read more

Great service, the staff was very friendly and got my basic car services done in a timely fashion. Per usual, they checked out the car for other things I would need done. I gave into a couple bringing my total spending to more than I expected but they weren't pushy about it so I didn't mind as much. Not an honest place by any means. Mechanics there will certainly try to sell you a service you do not need, i.e. engine flush. If you refuse the service, they become visibly upset and unfriendly. Very unprofessional!! In addition to the poor service, the pricing is not fully clear. They charge you additional money for the filter. read more

Efficient, fast, and reasonable. This is near me so it tends to be my go to oil change place. The price is reasonable and the service is fast. I never have to really wait for my turn and once they work on your car you are out the door within 20 minutes. Staff makes you aware of what extra work you may need with no pressure that you need to get it done then and there. There usually is some kind of discount. read more

AVOID coming here at all costs! I brought my new car here for a simple oil change, and as soon as I left my car started having problems. I wound up going back the next day bc my check engine light was on and my car was smoking. It turns out they put a wrong piece in the car and all of the oil leaked out. No one wanted to take responsibility and they started lying to me that this was a manufacturer issue with jeep, and the car had been recalled for an oil filter issue. This was completely false, there have been no recalls for this issue. They then put a 2013 oil filter in my 2015 jeep and broke my oil tank. My car wound up breaking down on the highway and I was stranded in the middle of nowhere all bc these morons have NO idea what they are doing. They are unethical, uneducated, lying thieves. They should be shut down and no longer allowed to conduct business. If you go here you are guaranteed to end up in a disastrous situation. read more

I first asked for an oil change and I specified regular oil. Employee kept saying that my car needs synthetic oil - this has NOT happened to me in 8 years of getting oil changes. Eventually he check under the hood and said that I was correct - my car does not need synthetic oil. Then he said that my engine would have problems if I did not get an engine flush - based on the color of the oil or something like that. It seems that most car manufactures never recommend engine flushes. He was very insistent that my car needed one - I declined. I ended up getting an oil change, but did not like that they recommended an engine flush without a valid reason for doing so and that I had to argue over using conventional oil. read more

Mind you before coming here I went to the dealer and he told me that I just needed regular oil but the guy was being so pushy. Do yourself a favor and save yourself money. AVOID this place! They are Shady! I went in for an oil change requested Mobile 1 synthetic for my 6 cylinder 3.5. I sit inside the waiting room while they worked on it and inside the waiting room there is a surveillance camera monitor that clearly shows my vehicle being worked on by their guy and I can see very clearly that he only used 4 qts of oil but told me 7 was used. After I left the place, I popped the engine hood and check my oil level and coloration for signs of dishonor conduct. The color was definitely not new oil's color. They didn't drain my old oil completely and added only half amount of new oil to mix with the old. I paid $93 for it!!! Everyone was very friendly, open an inviting. There was a clean place to sit with TV and coffee which was nice. They were quick on Saturday and on the receipt it detailed everything done on the oil change. The price wasn't bad at all- plus you get $5 off if you just send a text message while you are waiting. They went so far as to take off my wheel and show me that my back brakes needed changed- the only reason they get 4 stars is their high estimate for 2 rotors/pads ($320) for an older Nissan. I may shop around on a better price for this but I would be open to taking my car back for the brakes and definitely for smaller jobs like oil changes. Can't complain - living in Hoboken the options for an oil change are very limited, so we decided to check this place out as everywhere else seemed to be booked up. They got us in and out in about 25 minutes which was GREAT. The only bad part was they filled up our tires and on our way home we realized one side was at about 41PSI and the others at 29PSI so we had to stop at a gas station on the way home to correct that. Not ideal but also not the end of the world - If the service wasn't so quick I would have been more upset about it, but I'll deal with that any day to get a quick oil change! read more
