Most expensive oil change I've ever received. Other Subaru dealerships I've been to were $20 cheaper. Also quoted me $700 for an oil leak and sealant job. I heard bad things about this dealership so I went to Longmont Subaru and they inspected my car for free and turns out it was a transmission issue completely covered by warranty. Highly recommend going to a different Subaru dealer in the area, they actually take care of their customers and aren't out to get as much money out of you as they can. Awesome experience. I test drove just about every model on the lot. Bobby was very gracious and cool about the whole thing. You could tell he wanted to sell you the right car. We eventually ran numbers on a Forest XT Touring, but we couldn't come together on the deal and I wasn't ready to commit to a larger payment or down payment. Done with Flatirons Subaru after our 23 years with them. Time for new dealer and new vehicle but NOT SUBARU! We have been going to Flatirons Subaru since 1998. We always bought our Subarus and got them serviced at Flatirons with a smile until today! We had our vehicle in for just regular oil change and multi-point inspection yesterday. Everything was fine and we left with our usual smiles. Later in the day, we were out for first drive since the oil change when several warning lights started flashing. Texted them right away and were told to come back first thing this morning. When we arrived today, we were greeted as strangers. Had to wait for them to check our records and they finally found service from yesterday. We were then told this check would take a while and they requested shuttle service. The dealership is currently a mess as they are renovating which we understand. However, the waiting room is temporary and way in the back and noisy. Shuttle driver never found us which was a mixed blessing. While waiting, sent several texts that went unanswered for over 40 minutes until... finally get text back saying: we found problem with your Subaru... and it is a Big One! There is a leak in right side of engine into cam carriers and onto couple of sensors. Need to reseal cam carrier and the replace sensors... PRICE for Repairs: over $3200 and will take 2 to 3 weeks! Ouch!!! They offered us a 10% discount - wow!?? Needless to say we are done with Flatirons Subaru after our 23 years with them. Time for new dealer and new vehicle but NOT SUBARU! read more

Pete Seabrook is someone who gives the negative "car salesman" stereotype credence. I have a Forester lease about to come to the end of term, so I have started shopping around for a new lease, and was looking to go up 2 trim levels on the new vehicle. I have done tons of research on trade in value for my car, as well as what a fair price on a new Subaru is. I am not under any illusions that Subarus are vehicles you can get bottom dollar deals on in CO, so I went into this situation with a realistic perspective on what it would take to get the deal done. I inquired online about a price for a vehicle they had coming in, and got an email and text back from Pete. They were willing to match the price of the vehicle that matched an offer I received at another dealership, who could not get that particular one in stock for 1-1.5 months. He ran the trade in estimate for my vehicle and came back with an extremely low offer, between 3-5k lower than a conservative estimate for TRADE IN, not even sale price. I went back and forth with him all day, asking what offer they could provide, telling him what I am seeing for trade in values, etc. Fortunately, I am pretty good at math, and went through the numbers I had to ask him for no less than 6 times (he finally gave them to me on the 6th ask), and here is what how the math breaks down based on their "deal" vs. how the math ACTUALLY calculates. Sale price provided by Pete (including tax) $35284 Trade in value - amount still owed: $8100 Residual value of new lease provided by Pete: $21876 Total amount of lease: $5308 Lease payment (36 months): $148 -this is what the payment SHOULD be Lease payment Pete gave me: $272 (interestingly, the exact dollar amount of my current lease payment; this is what prompted me to scrutinize the numbers.... If you are trying to screw someone over, try harder Pete :) ) Per month overage this dealership tried to weasel their way to: $124 My question today was for him to explain where the additional $4464 dollars went... he became fairly hostile and impolite, particularly when I attempted to work with another sales person because I was really uncomfortable with him, and also I wanted to see if I was going to get taken by someone else too. He confronted me about trying to work with a different sales person, and basically said they did not want my business. After tossing a paper at me with the above specs (minus the correct math) he said "we will have to agree to part as friends". Obviously I dodged a bullet considering doing business with this dealership, and fortunately there are much more reputable dealerships in CO I can do business with. They could have sold a car off their lot at a fair price by being accurate and transparent with their math, but instead became rude when someone attempted to call attention to this. My advice is definitely do not come to this dealership to purchase a car, they 100% will attempt to take advantage of you, particularly if you are a woman. read more

Justin O was my salesperson and was kind and patient while I asked many questions! He was never pushy and didn't try to force me into buying a car. He was willing to take the time and test drive several cars with me as I decided what vehicle I wanted to purchase. There were no scheezy car tactics when negotiating price which made the purchase much less stressful. I recommend going here for purchasing Subarus! An interesting update - I have owned the car for exactly one month with only 200 miles on it and when I started the car the rear windshield exploded. This was terrifying and incredibly unsafe. I went to the dealership and they were able to replace the windshield free of cost - thank god since it was brand new! I am slightly worried about this being a potential defect in the car. I had been going to this dealership for roughly three years with great service on my Outback. I really liked the dealership, and was extremely happy with the quality of service, customer support, and prices. However, this year I brought in my car for a check engine light issue. The tech quickly diagnosed it and said that a fix would run me $500. Trusting them, I believed it and chose to do the service. Soon after I got the car back, the check engine light came back on. When I ran the error code from the car, it was the same error code as before. I assumed it was some minor mistake or maybe it would resolve itself soon. Just to be safe, I brought it back to the dealership to get it checked out. Then, the tech told me that this fix would run me another $400. Confused, I asked the tech why the same error code would cause two unrelated problems, and b. He said "The code refers to problems around the general engine area". Which sounded suspicious to me. After he reassured me some more that it was a different problem, I asked if he could just confirm it with the technician working on the car. After a few minutes, he came back and said that he had been wrong, and that the service they had performed last time was not related to the check engine error code that I had before. They claimed they "mistakenly inputted the wrong error code into their system". And therefore fixed the wrong part of the car in the previous service. How could a technician fix something that was operating and performing functionally? Would they not notice that the parts they were repairing were not faulty? Anyways, I figured that this was all just a mistake that Flatirons would take care of. They didn't initially offer any compensation, so I asked for it. They initially offered $200 off the new service, which seemed shady to me. I paid $500 for a service I didn't need or want, to fix absolutely nothing causing the check engine light in the car. Basically, they get to pocket $300 in this scenario. I denied the offer, and asked for more, since not only was I out $900 for a service that should have been $400 (the second service's cost), but I had to go through the hassle of doing the detective work to find out their errors. Soon after, the manager called me back and proceeded to complain, at me, about how unreasonable I was being. He couldn't understand why I wouldn't want to pay for the previous service, claiming that "you would have needed it eventually." I told him that I paid for that service to fix the check engine light, and that they performed the incorrect service on the car. Yet, he tried and tried to claim the service they had performed, the one they had mistyped into their system, as valid and one that I should pay for. Basically, he was trying to claim that I was unreasonable for requesting money back on a repair service that was not requested and not needed. It felt like I was in a shady repair shop, not a licensed Subaru dealership. Out of frustration, I hung up on him. He called me back five minutes later offering to comp the service, which I accepted. In the end, it worked out, my car was fixed and I paid an appropriate amount to do so. The problem was the insane amount of hoops I had to jump through to get it done, and the incredibly hostile attitude of the manager. I was really surprised this all happened, since I had three fantastic years of service on my car at the dealership beforehand. I've never written a negative review about any business before, mostly because I know that businesses can make mistakes that deviate from their normal service level. But this was truly another level of poor service. The fact that it took hours of phone calls and frustrating explanations for them to simply do what is right was shocking. I purchased a 2018 Outback in Feb, 2018. In August 2018, ran out of gas twice but the gas gauge was listed at 1/4 tank. Took the vehicle in for servicing 8/20/18, 9/06/18, 9/13/18 and 9/25/18, no fix. Spoke to Subaru of America in August, they have know about this issue for months with no fix. It is now October. This is not an isolated incident, other owners have the same issue. Don't purchase a 2018 Outback, it likely has the same defective gas gauge. There should be a recall on this vehicle or it may qualify as a lemon. The people are great at FlatIrons, but the product is not. Extremely Disappointed. read more

Let me begin by saying that I purchased my 2004 Subaru Outback at Super Repair last November, and I've been going to them ever since for repairs. Unfortunately, I got my cheap little hands on a Groupon to Flatirons and I immediately thought, "Wow! $17 for a car wash and oil change?! Count me in!" Worst. Idea. Ever. I go to Flatirons and sit there for a couple of hours, diggin' the free cookies and Wifi, everything's dandy, then "Service Adviser: 1067 Kristen Miller" calls me up to one of their "advising podiums". She proceeds to give me a death speech -- yes, my Subaru, which was healthy only three months previous at my Super Repair oil change, has taken a horrible turn for the worst. I listen, aghast, as she explains that the repairs are going to cost around $4,000. FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! She said, "Really, you can either, y'know, pay to get it fixed, or you can put that money down for a payment on a newer vehicle here." I walk off completely bewildered and worried with the piece of paper that advises me: "TECHNICIAN FOUND BOTH FRONT STRUTS LEAKING OIL ($365 TO START/ONE SIDE AND $100 ALIGNMENT). FOUND MULTIPLE OIL LEAKS AT FRONT COVER, BOTH CAM CAPS, LEFT HEAD GASKET REAR OF ENGINE RECOMMENDS RESEAL AND ADVISE ($3187 TO START). CUSTOMER DECLINED AT THIS TIME." Now, I know nothing about cars, so Flatirons had me convinced that every time I got in my Subaru may be the last time. Every little noise had me thinking my engine had gone kaput, and I kept looking for these fabled "oil leaks" after I parked on concrete (they never showed up). As I was obsessing about this, I got a letter in the mail from Flatirons. It was addressed to a "Mr. Bugbee" (I am not a "Mr.") advising me to "address the repairs as indicated in your last visit as soon as possible, if [I had] not already." I found it suspicious that the "repairs" were not expounded upon in the letter. Nevertheless, it added to my paranoia and conviction that my Subaru -- which was acting healthy -- had to be on death row. With much hesitation, my boyfriend and I took the Subaru on a 9-hour drive (18 round trip) to Kansas City and back ... no problems. The next weekend, we went to Colby, KS, and back (a 3.5 hour drive, 7 round trip), no problems. Finally, I was due for an oil change at Super Repair... The mechanic at Super Repair took a copy of what Flatirons had given me, and promised to look over all of their claims. An hour later I got a call ... and what Flatirons had said baffled the Super Repair mechanics. "This isn't stuff to worry about. There aren't any oil leaks; you get seeps in every vehicle, and it's not a big deal. At all. Your struts are fine. There's nothing wrong with your Outback..." Wow. Are you kidding me? For three months, I'd been driving around thinking my car was about to explode and you're telling me it's fine?? Okay. Can you say "coupon scheme?" Get me in there for a $17 oil change hoping to turn it into thousands of dollars ... maybe these guys are fine to buy from, but I will never -- NEVER -- use them for repairs/oil changes again. I'm sticking with Super Repair, definitely. And ... Super Repair, I'm sorry I cheated on you and it bit me in the ass. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. I needed to have my sunroof replaced and since I have glass coverage on my car my insurance will pay for it. I called the dealership to see if they could replace the sunroof and direct bill my insurance so I would have no out of pocket expense and on both phone calls with the service department I was told that was not a problem. On the second call when I made my appointment to bring my car in I was very clear that I wanted to make sure they would bill my insurance company and I would be able to pick my car up the next day without them expecting a payment from me and I was assured this would not be a problem. After arranging with a friend to go with me to Boulder to give me a ride home when I drop my car off and again the next day to pick it up and for another friend to give me a ride to work I headed to Boulder to drop off my car the next day. When I got the service department I said here's my claim number with my insurance company so you can bill them and was told 'oh we don't do that.' Then they came back and said 'well Chelsea made the appointment, she's just the booker.' I'm not sure how her job title is relevant, how this relates to the issue we are currently discussing or how this is my problem. If both her and I are telling you this was what I was told by your employee that you would do then you should say 'oops our, bad we're sorry, we'll make the exception and take care of this for you,' Honor the appointment, take my claim number, call my insurance company and verify its valid, do the work on my car and then let me pick it up the next day as promised while you wait for the payment from the insurance company. I know for the dealership this is a small job (probably $900-1000 with taxes and the other charges they throw in) and losing my business won't really put even a small dent in their bottom line so for them this doesn't matter but would be nice if you would have at least taken the responsibility and said I need to train my people better instead of well there was a miscommunication and she didn't understand what you were asking. When I said 'I want to drop off my car and have you direct bill my insurance so I don't have to pay any money when I pick it up' is pretty clear and doesn't leave much room for misunderstanding. read more

Went in for an oil change because I had a coupon. I told the service adviser Ryan that I was early, so he asked me to wait. I sat down and after helping another customer, Ryan told me he could check me in. "You're appointment is at 2:30," said Ryan looking at me. I reminded Ryan that I told him I was early, 45 minutes early. "I thought you were a just a FEW MINUTES early," said the strangely frazzled Ryan. As I sat waiting for my oil change, I could see that Ryan is in constant state of busy, unlike the other service advisers. Ryan seems to constantly be on overwhelm -- he puts people on hold (then someone else has to get the call) and tells people walking in to wait (while he fiddles with his computer screen). Wait, wait, wait. People standing around waiting to be helped, everyone is waiting for Ryan. When I went to pay, Ryan again made me wait so he could begin to help another customer. Ugh. Customer service is not good here. I've been in here once for a free diagnostic and had the same vibe -- they told me I had over $700 worth of repairs that needed to be done. I went to Fuji Motors and they charged me a lot less. I now go to Hoshi Motors and have been satisfied with their attitude, customer service, prices and work. In a Subaru town, it's a shame that it's so difficult to work with Flatirons Subaru. Thank goodness in Boulder we have other options! Life's too short to spend waiting for someone who is overwhelmed by his job even when there are no other customers around. read more

Judd was great. As first time buyers we had a lot of questions and wanted to make sure we were getting a car that would work for our lifestyle. While I'm not a fan of Colorado's Dealer/Handler fee ($499 at Flatirons Subaru), I appreciate that they are forthcoming about charging it. Everything was ok until we met with the woman in charge of finance. I think her name was Kerrie. She talked to us about an extended warranty (totaling 7 years or 100,000 miles) and a service package. We negotiated a bit, and she let us know that she had given us $400 off the cost of the warranty, but that the service price couldn't be changed (She informed us that the dealer cost for the service plan is $800, and she couldn't go lower than $1,100). Ultimately, we decided that for the extra $35 a month, both plans were a good fit. Then..... I looked off to the side of her desk and noticed she was filling out a form with different information. She had signed us up for the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty with a $100 deductible and NOT the 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. We asked her why she had changed it, and she exclaimed that there was no way she could sell us the other warranty at that price, so she "thought we must have been talking about the other warranty plan" and knocked us down a level in the warranty. She apologized for the "snafu" and again tried to tell us that she couldn't sell us the other warranty. I was not upset that she couldn't lower the price of the original warranty (although, it was clearly outrageous, about $2,400) - but I'm still very upset that she tried to pull a fast one on us. I was so upset, that I ended up not purchasing the additional warranty OR the service plan. My fiance told her that she never mentioned the deductible or the change in warranty plan to us and her response was "I didn't tell you it was something else, I just... Well, I didn't NOT tell you...". We all know car dealerships have a reputation for scheming, but this blatant exclamation of lying by omission did not bode well for our experience at Subaru Flatirons. read more

Another stop in my car buying fun-ness was Subaru. THIS PLACE MADE ME FILL OUT A CREDIT APPLICATION BEFORE THEY WOULD LET ME TEST DRIVE ANY CAR!! That is NO way to do business. Their logic is: if you don't get approved, what's the point in test driving? My point is: how do I know that I even want you to run my credit if I don't even like the car? Even though Mark had a bunch of awards hanging in his cubicle, I don't think that he really deserved them (and I didn't see any from the past few years). He didn't smile, had a weak hand shake and then there was the credit thing. He didn't even go with me on my test drive. While we were waiting in his cubicle for my papers to go through he worked on stuff on his computer completely ignoring the fact that I was just sitting there... staring at his awards... thinking how on earth did this guy even get a job let alone all these awards? Worst maintenance I've ever had. You couldn't pay me to go back there! The employees were very rude, MISLEADING, and not helpful. Not only did I have a 2.5 HOUR WAIT for an oil change but the employees were being extremely difficult. Also it was very EXPENSIVE. Don't let them change your air FILTERS! They will tell you that your filters need to be replaced and charge you $100+ to replace them - but they don't actually install new filters!! What a scam. Also, if you have an appointment around 5pm, I doubt the mechanics will do complete, adequate maintenance on your vehicle - because they like to leave at 5pm sharp! Next time I will drive 2 hours to the Colorado Springs dealership so I can deal with respectful and honest professionals. read more

I was referred to Flatirons Subaru by another dealer in Denver. Unfortunately, Flatirons has an employee that is not honest. He lied to us about a car they had in stock and then talked bad about one of the cars we were looking at. He just wanted us to buy the first car we looked at and was annoyed when we wanted to look at other options. Flatirons has a car in stock that we would love to buy, however, they have a sales rep preventing that from happening. The owner of the dealership really needs to look at the rep with the initials B.S., he has another review accusing him of bait and switch and we got the same feeling. Had a great experience leasing my Subaru Impreza from Flatirons. Bruce was extremely helpful and didn't pressure me as other dealerships had. Very helpful with answering questions and getting me the exact car I wanted. Just had my first oil change (first one free!) and a couple things looked at. The service department staff was great and I even got a complimentary shuttle ride to and from downtown Boulder, which beat waiting around the dealership! Maggie was very helpful and made sure all my concerns were taken care of. Overall I am very happy with my decision to lease and get service from Flatirons. Every time I come here I feel like my car gets what it deserves! This time we needed snow tires and they had exactly the tires I wanted and researched.. for just as much as tirerack.com and I didn't have to wait for shipping or very long for installation. I also was impressed that my service advisor, Jessica, had had both sets of tires that I was looking at on her personal car and was able to give me first hand advice to help me make the decision! Sad that my prepaid maintenance is over but I'll still be coming up from Denver just for service! read more

I had a recall notice for which I made an appointment. At the time I asked how long it would take to determine if I needed to make arrangements to be picked. I was told it was a 1-1.5 hour repair. For that I decided I could wait. Therefore, I scheduled time off work. On the day of the repair I showed and was told that it was a 4 hour repair. They do offer a shuttle service but as I live near Erie they would not drive me home. Since I had not made arrangements to be picked up or scheduled enough time off work I had to take my car back and simply go back to work. The whole process cost me over two hours of work. read more
