Last year, I received a birthday delivery from Flavor, but the delivery arrived looking like it had been dropped and the cupcakes were a bit of a mess. (Not sure who the delivery service was. Flavor replaced the order without *too much* of an issue.) In November, I stopped in to get something for a friend's birthday, and bought a 4-pack for them. Staff were super friendly & answered my questions easily. Feed back on the cupcakes was thumbs up all around. There were about a dozen flavor options (I think), & they all sounded good. Ended up selecting the Snickerdoodle, Cookies n Cream, & 2 of the chocolate-peanut butter because the recipient is a big fan of pb cups. I no longer work in that area but I will likely be back soon for another special occasion. I get noticed for their specials and they're so tempting. Yummmm! read more

I highly do not recommend them. I ordered a cheesecake and called every single day to get some kind of status update on it and they do not answer their phones. When I went in frustrated to talk about this, an employee named Brooke smugly looked at me and rolled her eyes while I expressed frustration at not being able to get a hold of them. She shook her head and had a huge attitude with me as I explained that I just wanted an update on my cheesecake. The customer service was horrible if they can't even update regular customers on a simple cheesecake I can't imagine how nerve-racking it would be to hire these people to do a catered event like a wedding or a birthday. I stopped in to grab a cake quickly. It is a cute little shop with parking. The showcase has a lot of cupcake and cookie dough options. They sell their own edible cookie dough which is hard to find in bakeries. You can also come in and grab a coffee or tea. They make cakes for special occasions if you call in advance. They also have dog cupcakes which were cute, made of sweet potato and peanut butter. Also on Facebook I seen they were collaborating with Kara's K9 Waffle Treats (another business in Forest Hill). They have macrons and parfaits on display as well. I know macrons are more popular as well. The cakes on display were $40, which seemed a little too pricy for me. I did buy one for an occasion. But once we brought it home and cut it, the frosting kind of peeled off the cake. Maybe because of the type of frosting I just never seen that before. It was a good cake otherwise. read more

I purchased a mixed variety of cupcakes a few months ago to give to a group of nurses for Nurses Week. The cupcakes received rave reviews. Both times that I've been into the shop, the staff was super friendly. I highly recommend. Everything was delicious...our personal favorites are Strawberry Fields, Wedding Cake, and Red Velvet. We have been long-time customers of Flavor's shop in Bel Air and ultimately decided to hire them as our wedding cake & dessert caterer! It was such a fun process to taste-test the cupcakes and they have so many incredible flavors to choose from. We also rented stands from them for our dessert display and they delivered and set everything up on our wedding day. I am gluten free and we were able to get our wedding cake entirely gluten free! The way they make their GF cake is insane--so moist and flavorful. I have eaten their gluten free desserts since my celiac diagnosis and have never gotten sick. They even recently changed how they display their GF cupcakes and keep them on the top shelf in the shop to help prevent cross contamination issues. A co-worker of mine has been ranting and raving about this place for a long time. She suggested it to me because it has vegan and gluten-free cake/cupcake options. She brought me a raspberry amaretto vegan cupcake today at work and I must say it was the most delicious cupcake I have ever tasted. It was so moist and flavorful. It also had a raspberry filling. This place is adorable!!! They had so many flavor options it was as very hard to narrow it down and choose. I ordered 4 different options for my son to try. As I saw in other reviews, I kept them refrigerated and it took him a few days to eat them. He said his favorite was the strawberry lemonade but that he really like the fluffernutter too. I also bought a puppy cupcake and my dog didn't complain. Unfortunately I didn't get to try them as I gave up sweets for lent, but I was so tempted to dig on based on the presentation of the store and the way they looked. The cupcakes here are off the chain. So delicious and moist. I know I know, but how else do your describe a cupcake? I'm so excited to go each month and try out there new flavors. They also have other pastries and cakes ready to go if you forget to preorder them. You can customize it, but they look stunning anyway! We went looking for a cake but we fell in love with the cupcakes. They are well decorated. You can go for an elegant look or a fun vibe depending on the occasion. My boyfriend and his mom are pretty picky with flavors and they really enjoyed the strawberry champagne. The frosting is so light and flavorful without being overly sweet. If you want chocolate but not something sweet their salted caramel is the way to go. Our top ones were 1. Strawberry champagne 2. Creme brûlée 3. Definitely a great place for a sweet treat! Front staff is always smiling and happy to explain the specials. I love taking advantage of their happy hour on my way home from work. I've tasted some dry/stale cakes occasionally, but anything with a "filling" is a great choice, like the luscious lemon on Wednesday's. Cookies & cream and snickerdoodle are my two favorite daily flavors. If you want any of their specials, go early or call to have one set aside because they usually sell out. Not flexible at all with special orders. Also, bought a certain dessert from there about a year ago and have not seen it since. Emailed them to see if we could workout something to purchase them again, was told I had to order 12 of the same exact item. I explained this was just for normal consumption and not for any kind of event. Wouldn't budge to try to accommodate that the whole reason I would order 12 would just be because I wanted that one item and they haven't sold it again since last year. Um, not the best cupcakes known to mankind haha but they are good. First off they are inexpensive. Compared to cupcakes in DC where they are $3-3.50/piece, $2.50 is a deal. The shop is kind of small, which is ok because it's all they need. The over tshirts and candy jewelry on sale. They had maybe 8-10 cupcake flavors on sale on this particular day. I got a box of 4 to take home to a friend who is a pastry chef in Philly. I gave them to him with the stipulation I get to have a taste of all of them too! So... Double Chocolate - seriously too dense. Was my least favorite Snickerdoodle - WOAH. Amazing Red Velvet - just ok Salted Caramed - meh Out of the four I was only crazy about one of them. Still, that one snickerdoodle was the saving grace for them to get 4 stars... it was that good. Plus I loved the glitter on the chocolate. I really like the newly renovated space. It was unfortunate we couldn't eat inside to enjoy the ambiance but appreciated the outdoor seating though. Specifically came in for the vegan cupcakes. They had four flavors available so I chose two: the mocha and the chocolate- strawberry. I was a little surprised they were cold. It would've helpful if they told me that in advance and then I could ask why when the non vegan ones were not. Were these day olds? If so, shouldn't it be discounted? As paying full price almost $4 should be reserved for ones made the same day. In either case, I didn't have a chance to ask because I only realized they were cold (1) after the transaction and (2) I had already walked out. While I truly appreciate the vegan option and I love supporting local, I felt disappointed on the lack of disclosure. In short, if I wanted refrigerated cupcakes, I'd go to a grocery store. But to go to a bakery that prides itself in making cakes, cupcakes, macarons and the like, people expect nothing less than fresh especially when paying almost $4 a cupcake, regular or vegan. Minus one star for that. The the texture of the (cold) cupcakes were firm and dense but could not tell you since they were cold if they were fluffy or soft or moist. I did like how the frosting wasn't too overpowering and it was piped evenly and expertly. As far as the service, we were the only customers in there. There were two employees: one taking and filling the order, and the other was manning the register while simultaneously on her phone. Look, I love using my phone too but c'mon when a customer comes in, put it away and be all about the customer. How about making eye contact and having a conversation like talking about the bakery and it's history, ask what types of desserts or flavors we're interested in, or that it does custom cakes, etc.? This person looked bored and had little interest in engaging. I've been looking for a local bakery to fill an order for a very big upcoming event and was considering this one but the less than stellar service I received today tells me to look elsewhere. I sent the company the following message on Instagram over a week ago and received not one word back. Wanted to send you a message and let you know that I was in your shop yesterday and purchased a dozen of your cupcakes. I kept six and gave six to my niece for her birthday. The vegan cupcake was taken out from the back fridge , tasted old, definitely not fresh,terrible cupcake texture, super dense and just gross one of the worst vegan cupcakes I've had. I've been to this bakery a few times and probably was disappointed once with just one specific flavor cupcake- it was something with apple compote and a brown icing that was supposed to be like a caramel flavor I guess? It was wayyy too bitter. That however, has not stopped me from going here. Every other cupcake I've tried has been very very good. The icing on pretty much all of them is never overwhelmingly sweet. There's a balance with the cake to icing ratio. Macaroons- so. Damn. Good. Like all of them. Yes, I've tried all. I've only had the chocolate chip edible cookie dough, but heard the sugar cookie version is just as Bomb. The chocolate chip cookies are really good, they probably use cake flour for them. I ordered a custom made hufflepuff German chocolate birthday cake and the staff was super helpful in picking the right flavor combinations and helping me decide on the perfect design. Ordered bday cupcakes for my special someone and they were DELICIOUS. I ordered a dozen of the salted caramel cupakes. The cupcake itself was very moist, and the frosting was to die for. I may have eaten 2 lol (and my stomach regretted it later, but it was #worthit) They are a little pricy, but honestly it was totally worth it. I will definitely be ordering cupcakes from here for years to come :) My only slight complaint: when I called to order, I asked if they could make the turtle dove cupcakes even though it was a seasonal flavor (winter), because none of the ingredients are impossible to get throughout the year. Maybe it was because I ordered the wrong thing, but I was not impressed, especially for the $3 price tag!? I got the peanut butter chocolate one and it was such a disappointment... The chocolate cake was really bland - no chocolate flavoring at all, and quite dry. The "frosting" was pretty much just a lump of peanutbutter on top...The peanut butter "frosting" came off the top and I could see the top of the cupcake itself. The top of the cupcake was flat not slightly rounded light muffin top-like, which makes me think that there was something off with the cake recipe. Perhaps they need more of the leavening agent to make it light and fluffier?
