One of the stations in the Southern Market Lancaster Food Hall. A smaller, to the point menu with a mix of mostly Moroccan and some Indian dishes. We ordered a couple of appetizers to try. The Chicken Bastilla with a ground Chicken filling was more sweet than the savory Pie billing given honey. The Organic Veggie pie was savory and the yogurt sauce played nicely with the Veggie and cheese filling. Both were tasty. For main, it was the Moroccan Chicken Tagine. Tasty Chicken dish with Saffron, Lemon and Olives complimented by the Basmati Rice. Regular size was enough for sharing. A few of the items are Gluten free. Service was friendly and actually we were served by the Chef which was a nice touch. Great find and we will be back. read more

If you're reading my reviews, by now I think you have realized that I'm feeling ornery and that's partly because, going to restaurants aren't cheap and when we dine out, we're anticipating good food and customer service - such was not the case with Flavors of Morocco. So, I've got kidney disease and my doctor says, eat less meat and more veg and so; here I am at FoM. I eyeballed the Chickpita and even asked for it, but the unsmiling lady behind the counter (rusty in understanding English), gave me the veggie sampler, instead (probably making my nephrologist, overjoyed) and hot mint tea. I must confess, I wasn't exactly pleased with my plate of diced beets, puree'd carrots, naked steamed green beans and canned, black olives. And the mint tea, was shamefully, absent of mint. read more

Was surprised by this one, and not in the best way. Would not go back. Road trip done, rolled through some local markets, and now the fam needed to eat. Dug around and found a highly recommended spot that boasted some of my favorite flavors, so we thought to check it out. We were a little shocked to walk into what was like a slightly more grown-up mall food court situation. Loud, with a bar in the center of the room, lined by a number of different offerings from pho to Halal, to schnitzel, to this spot. We would have left, but my teens were starving and liked they could get their own things...so mom and I toughed it out. So...now to Flavors of Morocco. The young lady behind the counter was not the most friendly and seemed bothered to be taken from her phone scrolling. It was fast, but that's because she popped the main dishes in the microwave. The food was okay, but that's as far as I'll go for a microwaved meal. I did order some of their baclava which was probably the high-point of the meal. It was seriously overpriced. For what they asked, I feel like I could have gone to a chain spot and got a better meal. Finally, I generally have issues with being asked to pay a tip for food I stand in a line for to order and pick up myself; I especially have a problem with a being asked for a tip for something that took about five minutes to reheat in the microwave. All in all, an exorbitantly overpriced "meh" meal that was nuked. read more

What a great find. It's located in the Southern Market on Green Street and is a great change-of-pace for Lancaster. There are numerous food stalls/kitchens around the walls. with a full service bar in the center. You order your food at the counter that interests you and are given a small device that lights up when your food is ready. We shared the large perfectly seasoned Chicken Shawarma, which came served over rice with string bean, carrot and beet salads. It was delicious. I watched as they poured a little drizzle of honey on the Baklava and couldn't wait to try it. It too was very very good. The staff (husband & wife ?) were very friendly and fun to talk to. When we pulled up in the driveway we weren't quite sure if we were in the right place. We parked and walked down into a beautiful Moroccan paradise! Outdoor seating only (covered) and located on their property, Flavors of Morocco is an absolute diamond in the rough! The coveted seating area is draped in colorful and inviting decor. For our appetizer, tried the mini potato samosas and mini naan with baba ghanoush. The samosas were cooked perfectly and paired well with the yogurt sauce. We loved the spices on top of the mini non-breads and the baba ghanough was flavorful and soooo good!! For our main course, I had the tandoori chicken and my husband had the Moroccan chicken. We both absolutely loved our meals. The sides of organic carrots, organic beet salad, and Moroccan style eggplant (Zaalouk), paired so well with the rice and chicken. Everything was so flavorful and seasoned well. The family works together and made our first experience wonderful! We have zero complaints. Beautiful ambiance, kind hospitality and delicious food prepared and served by a talented and hard working chef! We got the spicy potato samosas, chicken tagine and lamb tagine. They were all very flavorful and came with very fresh, healthy vegetable sides to balance out the meal. My favorite was the lamb as it was so tender but everything was great!! The chilled hibiscus juice/tea was also delightful and was refreshing and not too sweet! FYI, it is a little tricky to find as this restaurant is an extension of a residential home which is set along the Conestoga river (not a typical restaurant set up but that is what makes it an exciting culinary and cultural experience)! Amazing Moroccan food. I am Moroccan and used to authentic Moroccan food and can attest that their food is delicious. We drove 2 hours to try it. The atmosphere was beautiful and the vibrant colors were reminiscent of Morocco. The owners are extremely friendly and accommodating and always on site and the service is top notch. We celebrated my birthday there and they brought out a beautiful fruit bowl that was a pleasant alternative to the typical birthday cake (see photo). The backyard is big and overlooking water so we took many pictures and my baby got to run around. I feel like the reviews and website for this place are a tad misleading. Especially with the pictures provided. You will not be having a "Moroccan experience" if you decide to visit on a whim, as it is in the Lancaster market. You have to book a private event at the owners place to be given that treatment. We didn't realize this until we got to the address of the restaurant, which is a bit like a food court, but still decided to try it since the reviews of the food seemed good. With a price of 20 dollars for "chickpeas cooked with chefs sauce" vegetarian plate we figured the portion would have to be good to say the least... but unfortunately the food was subpar, and you barely got any of the entree itself. It was maybe a couple spoonfuls of chickpea in sauce over rice and a smallllllll serving of each salad. All presented on one plate. Barely worth 12 dollars max. We did try the Zatar naan as well, which is not authentic naan. I rarely write reviews. But after coming home and revisiting the website and the yelp reviews and seeing how misleading it truly was, I wouldn't feel right not warning others. read more

Located in the western end of the newly-remodeled Southern Market Lancaster, Flavors of Morocco is a great change-of-pace for Lancaster County, or a weekly must-eat for those who love their food as much as we do. The Chicken Tagine is a complex, "spiced-but-not-hot" dinner that is our usual go-to. We get that a lot. It's mouth-watering. Today we went with the Diafa: a lamb-shank tagine served with carmelized prunes, quail eggs and sesame seeds. Super-impressive on the plate. This substantial serving of lamb on the bone, surrounded by a generous quantity of the most delicious sauce. That was one plate... But then you also get the other equally-large plate, full of yellow basmati rice on one half of the plate, and then a small serving each of 3 cool separate salads: carrot, eggplant, and beet. The basmati rice was dressed with a very tasty yogurt sauce and then topped with black sesame seeds. The salads were each delicious, fresh, and light on the stomach. They paired nicely with the lamb. While visiting Lancaster from New York we tried Flavors of Morocco. We got the Lamb and Chicken and were blown away by the flavors and preparation. Complex without being overly rich, the lamb was a huge shank with sides galore. So tender and juicy just fell right off the bone. The chicken was also delicious as well as the numerous sides. I look forward to visiting again in the warmer months and hopefully participating in one of their nights on the stone farm. read more

I have been to Flavors of Morroco several times. When our son visited Lancaster with his fiancé, we asked Flavors of Morroco to hold a celebration for our extended family of 24 people. It could not have been better! Of course the food was so interesting and delicious. Bouchra also decorated the restaurant for our son and his soon to be wife. It was so dear! Everyone loved the entire evening from appetizers, salad course, main course, desserts and the amazing fruit cake and Moroccan tea service ending the lovely evening. We searched on the internet for an interesting place to eat while on vacation. The internet reviews were good. So we decided to give it a try. Now -- when you are driving to it -- SLOW DOWN, look for the orange mailbox, and red flag, it is a SHARP TURN into driveway! Go down narrow road, yes you are at the right place, park in the gravel lot. We were welcomed, shown to a side table. We relaxed and ordered appetizers. Then ordered entries. Deserts! All four of us throughly enjoyed every bite. Be prepared to stay a while and relax, talk to the proprietors, drink some wonderful after dinner tea. This isn't your typical sit, order, eat, pay and leave. It is a European experience, take your time. Yes, the hours are limited but you don't leave after the clock dings, for guest seated. When we saw that there was Moroccan restaurant in Lancaster we just had to go. We are so happy we did. Flavors of Morocco has created a Moroccan oasis in what is typically known for being Amish. The tent seating transports you to the riverbank restaurants in Morocco. The food made us feel like we were at home in (my husband Moroccan) eating at my mother in law's house. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent and you must not miss the mint tea. I can't wait for them to sell it to brew at home, I would buy it by the pound. I wish I could have taken more pics but my family could not wait to dig in to the food. We will definitely be visiting again. read more
