It was done by a well known Dr, but unfortunately not correctly and started a cycle of TMJ. After several consultations with dentists and prosthodontists, I chose one to redo the replacement veneers. The temporaries were not aesthetically pleasing, and I switched to another cosmetic dentist, again well known with lots of examples of beautiful work on the website. This effort did not solve the bite issue, and a week after the new veneers, the TMJ was back and worse. By then the TMJ was affecting the musculature and visual appearance of my face. Luckily, an orthodontist friend introduced me to Dr. Kim. It was worth the five hour flights from San Francisco for treatment. Dr. Kim is extremely professional and patient. His first objective is the correct functioning of the jaw and bite. It took time to recover the natural bite and eliminate the TMJ. He patiently explained and answered lots of questions over an extended period of time, and gave me a lot of confidence that it would finally turn out right. Over the course of recovering the natural bite, we worked a lot on aesthetics. After the studying and experiences I've been through, I know what good teeth look like. He took into consideration the length, bulk, and size of teeth to make a natural smile and appearance when talking. The color is natural, and most importantly, the bite is good, the TMJ is gone, and the muscles on my face are getting back to normal. Thank you Dr. Kim !

It took me a few days to get over the trauma that Dr. Kirkwood put me through to extract those 2 teeth. I feel that he is some kind of a sadist, putting me through the pain that I felt from the needles he injected me with, without anesthetizing the area where the injections were going. As I was screaming from the horrible pain, all I was told that it would be over in a matter of minutes. I think he enjoyed hearing my horrible screams. It was quite barbaric. I definitely would not recommend them to anyone. If you feel apprehensive about your dental experience, definitely find another practice.

I have great insurance as a firefighter, and they have always told me how they love my insurance because it pays for everything. Since I became a firefighter and got my dental insurance, Advanced family dental has done a ton of work to my teeth. They have changed through numerous dentists here and many receptionists also. The only constant has been Ping, the hygienist. Ping has always been very professional and friendly and has taken care of my family. Today, I decided that we will not return to this place ever again. I came in for my appointment and checked in with the receptionist. This is their moment to check me into the system, see the service I am scheduled for, check that against my insurance, and let me know of any charges I will incur today. They didn't mention anything to me and told me I can take a seat. I have my regular cleaning with Ping, all goes well. Then a woman comes in and tells me that I owe $85 for the service today. I said, "that shouldn't be, I have excellent insurance, and they cover everything." They tell me I'm only allowed 3 cleanings for the year. If I would have been scheduled in January, everything would have been fine. But they checked me in, KNOWING that I would be charged, and didn't mention anything to me. I speak to the woman in charge, and she says, "All I can say is I'm sorry, since the services have already been rendered." They knew I was going to owe something and did not tell me until after they performed the service. I paid the balance and left. I will never return. They also cancelled my wife's previous appointment without calling her and explaining why. They just cancelled it and sent her an email saying she needs to make a new appointment. My wife had taken off work, and they cancelled her appointment. The management of this place is in shambles. It has changed many owners over the years, and it is a sinking ship. Get out while you can. ***ALSO...the orthodontics services received here are SUBPAR. I got Invisalign here and at the same time my wife went to APPEL Orthodontics for Invisalign.
