I am a white wine connoisseur because of my dietary restrictions with most ingredients in red wines, especially cherries and plum, that trigger my stomach pain and headaches. I have missed enjoying red wine because of this. I was hoping and praying that when my friends who are members of PEJU planned this wine tasting treat, that my stomach and head would be fine and to my surprise, my palate, tongue, stomach and heart were pleased with the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Fifty/Fifty, and more, including reserve reds Todd served and educated us about! I have NEVER enjoyed red wines like these I tasted at PEJU. Since the time of our outstanding wine tasting experience, I have recommended and raved about Todd and PEJU winery to friends and family who appreciate and value high quality wines and winery experiences. It felt like a vacation getaway being in the tasting room building, admiring the breathtaking stained glass art, all of the art inside and the beautiful art and nature views outside. I appreciate the PEJU staff and management team who welcomed us and were kind to us all the way to the end of our wine tasting experience when we left. This is the kind of treatment that makes us want to return. Napa is a special place for friends, family, and me, and PEJU is now an indelible memory in my Napa adventures! Todd clearly enjoys his important professional position, is passionate about wine and the wine experience, and brings so much joy to customers! I can't recommend him and PEJU enough! Todd went above and beyond to give us a VIP experience and even gave me a bag full of wine corks for my art project after I told him about this and asked for some of their wine corks we saw lined up in their wine uncorking and pouring area. We each chose different tasting flights so we could try a wider variety of wines, and Mike did a fantastic job walking us through everything. He was knowledgeable, welcoming, and made the tasting feel relaxed and personalized rather than rushed. During our conversation, I mentioned that I had never done a barrel tasting before, and Mike surprised me by arranging one for us on the spot. It was such a memorable touch and easily one of the highlights of our trip.

They've only been there for a year I believe, but from the outside to the inside, everything is purposely selected and placed. And the bathroom! Yes you read that right, the bathroom is impressive. Probably what stuck out to me the most was the wine glasses used for the flight tasting. These glasses are exquisite. While I don't remember the exact dollar figure, they use German glassware that was 100 a pop, and each glass was selected based on enhancing which wine was being tasted. The first glass on the left was what we started with, which was a white, and as you go toward the right you transition into the bulbous fishbowl type glassware typically used to drink reds. The flight tasting was 75 which is pricey, and their flagship red is quite expensive in my opinion. However, you like what you like and if you enjoy it then it's meant for you. This is a great place and I'll most definitely visit again when I'm back in Napa.

The standout is the George III that they cannot put on the label as such but it is silky, luxurious and well balanced. The cheese plate is amazing and very generous portion. Met the owner Matthew that tells us all about his passion project of building the tasting room (as you can imagine with Napa's rules it took years to execute).

Jerry quickly picked up on the fact that we prefer reds and changed the tasting list to accommodate us. That extra effort meant a lot. He knew the wines inside and out, but he was also warm and easy to talk to. The property and wines were wonderful, but Jerry is what made the experience memorable. We left feeling like our anniversary had been genuinely celebrated. If you visit St. Supéry, ask for Jerry.

We sat outside for the first time on this very busy Saturday and it got a little warmer than we like (low 80s is crazy for early April!). Next time we'll make sure to ask for an inside spot, where we usually are! Definitely go and enjoy our favorites like Dollarhide Elevation, Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, and Elu in the reds (ask if they have any RU3 to taste, too!!) and the Dollarhide Sauvignon Blanc or Rose for white wine drinkers.

Natalia, our hostess and educator, is absolutely amazing. She brings great energy, deep knowledge, and makes each tasting feel personal and memorable. The only downside from our most recent visit was learning that the complimentary cheese plate is no longer automatically offered to members of certain tiers. That was a small touch that really set The Prisoner apart from other wineries and made the experience feel even more special. It was something we genuinely looked forward to every time. We first stopped at Steele Vineyards into the Manor tour and tasting Andy's vibe, what he brought to the table we were able to try a different wine that he recommended and it made our experience a 10 out of 10.
