I can't rave enough about my moving experience with FlexBox. I scheduled their service just a day before I needed to move and Robert was extremely accommodating. He responded to me quickly via yelp. The quote procedure was succinct and I received a call confirming my moving not too long after. The band of 3 men that helped were hardworking and friendly. They allowed me work on other things and rest while they did the hard work. A small accident happened to one of my belongings and they fixed it free of charge. At first I was pleased with using Flexbox. Joe was very friendly and made me feel like this was going to be a pleasing experience.Weeks before the move I let them know that I needed to be done with my move by a certain time in order to take pictures for my best friends engagement. The following went wrong: - The truck was 2 hours late (they did not take responsibility for it). - Only 2 of the 3 movers showed up for the move. The third came hours later. - When I asked Jake to remedy this error with sending a 4th person to speed up the move he was willing to do so but only for the full charge of 4 people for the hourly rate. - They lost the legs of my couch. - I MISSED MY IMPORTANT ENGAGEMENT! The owner, Joe was very personable over the phone which ultimately aided in my decision of moving forward with his company. He communicated the move date and time well. Closer to the move date, we happened to have availability to move earlier which they were accommodating to since they had the day open however the date before the move, it was canceled due to a move that day which took longer than expected and the crew needed a rest. No problem if I got the email but unfortunately the email was sent to the incorrect email address. My husband took off work and had packed and taped everything anticipating the move to find out it wouldn't be til the day after. It was a bit inconvenient so this is the reason for the deduction in the star. Aside from that, the crew came as expected on the following rescheduled date. They were fast, efficient and safely transferred our items. They were even nice in taking time to position heavy furniture for us. read more

Of all the companies I've called for quotes, they've been the nicest, and have the fastest turnaround time. I can't review them for moving and storage - because for $1800 (their quote for a studio) I could pretty much give away everything I'm moving and replace it when I get out there. From the get go it seemed like a start up. The price for $69.95 listed on the website is apparently not their "summer" rate so I was quoted a price $20 higher per month then what I saw online. Fine. They were great about dropping off the box and taking my money, not great at picking up the phone. The voicemail box was full almost every time I called. I went a few months with them holding onto the boxes and called to have it dropped off. They dropped off the boxes at the new address and they were there for a few days while we unpacked. The township wrote a ticket for the boxes being placed on the street in a no-parking zone. There was nothing listed outside the house for the ticket, which is neither here nor there. What really irked me was that when I called to ask about how to handle the situation, if they expected the customer to pay the ticket (I expected so) the gentleman on the phone said I needed a permit for the area where the boxes were being dropped off. I signed no paperwork and no terms and conditions were mentioned to me upon the initiation of this service. What permit?? The icing was that by the time I got home from work to finish unpacking Flexbox had come to the house and picked up the boxes because the township had filed a complaint. They had my number on file, they did not call. They did not leave a voicemail. For a good 30 minutes I thought the boxes were stolen or towed. When we called about having them dropped off again they had the audacity to say that they had to charge us another $100 for the drop off fee AGAIN. In essence they took our stuff without our permission and said they they were being nice enough to not charge us for another month because of how long it took us to unpack. We had to go and pick up the rest of the contents of the box ourselves because mid-conversation we were hung up on and very unprofessionally dismissed. I would have rather paid for a storage unit and movers. Wonderful concept, poor execution. read more

At first I was really happy with my experience with Flexbox. I was helped very quickly and effectively with my things during my move out, and the storage costs were at a price I was willing to pay considering the length of time as well as the efficiency and convenience. However, when I was moving my things from my storage box in Philly to Manhattan, I was meeting the movers the same day they were driving into the city and my bus was delayed an hour. I was extremely worried that they would have to wait and I called and texted the minute I found out so that advanced planning could be arranged. (We never arranged a specific time before the breakdown, only a time frame because there were "two to three other people" who were also needing to move into the city.) So when I called I was told not to worry and that they'd come to my apartment last so the waiting time to be minimal. I made arrangements with my super so that the movers wouldn't have to be waiting outside the entire time and could move in before I arrived. After this the move-in went smoothly and quickly. I assumed like in my prior interactions that someone would follow up and that I would be properly invoiced. Instead, I was charged a very high amount on my credit card WITHOUT an invoice and have yet to be refunded or at the least have the situation explained to me (it's been over 3 months). I have called Joe's personal cell phone (no one picked up multiple times), left a voicemail, and sent emails as well as texts, as we would communicate via messaging for previous arrangements. My login with them has been deactivated so I cannot even access my online bill. I simply wanted a legitimate invoice so I could see what I was paying for exactly - I understand I was late but it didn't seem to be a problem in terms of incurring extra costs. Perhaps I will receive some type of invoice after this, but would not be surprised if I receive nothing. All I can say is that as with the other one-star reviews, Flexbox cannot be trusted when it comes to charging and taking your money. read more

I had to book something last minute and Joe the owner was very responsive. He answered all my questions and gave me a quote right away. Moving was quick and easy. They had all the equipments needed including cushions and plastic wrap to protect my furniture. I Would definitely recommend Flex Box and will call them again if I ever move in the future! read more

We hired these guys a few weeks ago for a move in Philadelphia. They were on time and very efficient. They didn't realize that we had actually booked for a 3rd floor walk up for our new place and they were nice enough to keep the rate the same. Here are all the reasons my move was bad. This is my first time writing a review and I am doing so just because of this bad experience: -Joe was difficult to get ahold of to schedule the move -The move itself, from one place to another in the same neighborhood with 3 guys, then with 5 guys took longer than my move from New York to Philly start to finish. We had the exact same stuff for both moves. And the movers from New York actually packed then moved all of our stuff in less time than these guys just moved it. -They left my floor length mirror wrapped in blankets and cardboard, though luckily it was not broken. -They did, however break our $600 TV, and Joe offered me $60 which is the legal amount he feels he has to pay. He said he did not know if it was broken before the move (which it most certainly wasn't) and therefore was not responsible. -Before Joe said this, the lead mover had offered to help us get it fixed, yet failed to show up twice when he said he was coming to pick it up. Then I had the above conversation. -They broke a dish, which is not really a big deal in all honesty. Wouldn't care except see above. So as to be balanced, I will tell you the positives also: -The movers, especially Dave, were very friendly and had professional attitudes. They were grateful for the water and pizza we provided, and it did seem like they were working hard. Overall, I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone and I will never use their services again. read more

Everyone I interacted with at Flexbox was helpful and kind. It was the perfect solution for my situation of having to store my belongings for a month before moving into my new house. The movers were professional and did a very nice job! I was impressed! Joe worked with me and was very helpful. I thought the price was fair. The only down side to my experience was the lack of communication, I had to reach out several times. They don't reply to emails very often (maybe they don't check them frequently?), and sometimes voicemails are not responded to. I'm sorry that I can't give FlexBox a better review. I prefer to support local businesses, but the office's general disorganization, and the rudeness on behalf of the owner don't speak well of the company. I moved at the beginning of the month and scheduled with FlexBox to have my stored items delivered and moved in by noon on the first. When speaking with the manager, I initially offered to pick a later delivery date, knowing that the first of any month is a busy time in general. I specifically tried to be flexible on this point, but the manager confirmed that the first would be possible. I agreed to this date and scheduled the rest of my moving plans around this confirmation. At noon on the first, the company contacted me and informed me that they wouldn't be able to arrive until the next day. When I spoke with the manager, he said the company would be unable to refund me the delivery and moving fee in spite of the rescheduling. I followed up with the business owner regarding this issue; his initial response was rude and unprofessional, and he implied that the scheduling issue was my fault, in spite of my initial repeated offers to select a different delivery date. Once I explained the nature of my conversation with the manager, the owner apologized, blamed his manager for the difficulty, but similarly refused to offer a refund in spite of the inconvenience. I would strongly recommend against working with this company. Again, they're a small, local business that I would like to support, but their disorganization, lack of professionalism, and rude communication really left a bad impression. read more

Perfectly convenient option for those who don't have the option to move out and move in all in one go round. Having the ability to both move and store is wonderful. Flexbox offers very competitive pricing with a personal feel. It's nice to see a small business making it in the big city. Their system for loading and unloading the boxes is pretty cool to watch, and they are able to load/unload/maneuver the boxes in tight urban conditions. The box fits into one parking space, which is incredibly helpful, and they're a lot bigger than they appear to be. I was most impressed by the fact that everything that was packed inside the box stayed in place despite being transported back and forth. Just about everything came out as it went in. The idea behind this company is great. It's very convenient, especially for university students. My friends and I used it last year without a hitch. My one knock against the company is that the service tends to be a little delayed. A few times, my friends and I have had to call multiple times and leave voicemails, which are often left unanswered. Great experience! I rent a storage box at the end of last term. Two nice guy came and helped me to put all my staff in it (full size bed, big desk, chairs, suitcases, tons of boxes and there are still extra space). Then I just went to my internship for the summer and never worried about them. When I came back to Philly, they sent my staff directly to my new apt. These guys make storing and moving sooooooooo easy! read more

For the price, I totally feel like I get my money's worth. They respond to my requests within 24hrs. My items are always in the same condition as when I placed them in there. I would give Flexbox 0 stars if I could. I'll give Flexbox the credit that they had great customer service BEFORE I gave them my credit card number. Christopher was very friendly and courteous when he came to pick up my boxes and store them for the summer. I go to a university nearby, and assumed that as a local business, Flexbox would pride itself in serving the local community. Boy was I in for a shock when summer ended and I needed my stuff back. First of all, when I checked my credit card, Flexbox had added over 200 dollars in additional charges that they've NEVER MENTIONED to my card. One of these was a second $79 in delivery fees, even when they said my first payment wouldcover all delivery. There was also ANOTHER delivery charge of $139 that they never bothered to explain when I called them repeatedly over the phone. The lady who picked up was extremely rude and refused to give me any straight answers. There were also sounds of kids crying in the background, making me suspect this is operated from a home, which is highly unprofessional. To top it off, Flexbox refused to deliver my items on the day we originally agreed upon. They said they were all booked up on the 5th and had to deliver on the 4th if I wanted my stuff back. On top of that, they also popped ANOTHER CHARGE, a $125 "permit fee" to drop off the box at the side of the road. I called my school police to ask about this, and they told me this policy has been enforced for a couple of years now, and that Flexbox had full knowledge that we needed these permits, but waited till the last minute to milk more money out of us college kids. They also informed me that there have been numerous complaints from other kids who got ripped off, but our campus police can't really do much to help us. Flexbox basically took all my storage as collateral as it strong-armed me into paying fee after fee. Here's the kicker: even after I gave in and paid the $125, they NEVER GOT A PERMIT. That's right, my box had no permit on it. A couple days later they took the box away and stilled charged me the $125. I am seriously fed up with their disgusting tricks and I'd never consider using them again. For those out there looking for a cheap deal. If you MUST use flexbox, MAKE THEM GIVE YOU A STATEMENT IN WRITING. QUOTES DON'T COUNT. After all this, I realized they never gave me a receipt, and they absolutely REFUSED to give me a statement in writing when I asked. I couldn't do anything about that since they already had my stuff. Flexbox excused their refusal as "that's not how their business works". I call BS. Let the buyer beware. read more

I was looking for a moving company to move some commercial equipment into storage. I emailed the owner on Sunday night through Yelp. He instantly responded to my email. You do not get to many people responding to you on a Sunday night at 9:pm. I was impressed. We touched base on Monday and set up an appointment for Wednesday. The guys arrived on time and were professional and courteous, they had everything completed less then 3 hours. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them. Joe informed me of the cost per hour before hand.The price was very reasonable especially after checking around and finding other movers were double the price. When the guys were finished they gave me an invoice, I called Joe and paid with my credit card. No hidden fees were added. The price was the same as quoted to me before hand. To say dealing with these clowns was a train wreck is a total understatement. -They were 8 hours Late. -Then their fork lift broke down in the street and they left it there for 6 days. -At first we tried to leave them phone messages but their voice main was full for several days. -Once they cleaned out their voice main they still didn't call back. -The only time we were able to speak to them about the problems they said "this kind of stuff can happen there are a lot of moving parts here" Are you kidding me how tuff can it be to run a business that picks up and drops off boxes. A manufacturing plant has a lot of moving parts. A hospital has a lot of moving parts. Not a storage box delivery company. I own a construction company with 25 employees and if one of my people ran even the smallest part of a project the way these guys have managed this minor moving project I would kill them then fire them. Stay away from Flexbox. Moving can be a stressful event the last thing you want is to have the added stress of dealing with these guys. I have used Pods before for myself and they were great. The only reason we tried these guys is we were helping someone else move and they were paying for the storage boxes and Flexbox was cheaper. The boxes are still in the street and so is the forklift so I have had to call the police to get the boxes and the forklift removed from the street. We ended up moving everything in a truck instead. Supposedly Flexbox has restructured their management to address many of the issues that have been mentioned on yelp. Hopefully they can improve their service moving forward because I think West Philly needs a competitive mobile storage solution. *************************************** I rented a storage box from Flexbox for 10 months. Most important point is to make sure you are aware of the TRUE price you are being charged. Delivery of the box and retrieval from storage was excellent, they were very prompt when I called. The biggest problem I have with this company is the sales staff. 1) I tired to reserve my box online at $69/month, but the website was malfunctioning and would not accept any of my credit cards. 2) I was forced to reserve over the phone and they pulled my "reservation number" which provided them with all of my information except for billing. At this time, I'm expecting the price I see online, and there was no explanation about a price change. 3) The first bill arrived and I was being charged $80/month. 4) My emails to the sales staff were returned with the explanation that $69/month is only for online reservations. Oh, really! News to me since this is not indicated ANYWHERE on the website and I was not informed about this price difference when making my initial reservation. read more

DON'T DO IT.....I arrived from work and to my surprise a box was more than halfway on my curb right in front of my steps. When I called the phone number on the box and told the individual who answered what my issue was he hung up. I called back and was told by the same individual that he did not see that this was a problem. When I asked who would repair my sidewalk if it cracked he had no response and told me that he did not see it as a issue and hung up the telephone once again. Super informative website & a great rate if I drove my stuff directly to their warehouse. I stopped stressing and started calling them. And calling them. And calling them. For days. And they never answered the phone-ever! Their website even gives a different address than the one listed here on yelp and all over the web-what the hell!? Maybe they don't exist anymore? Whatever the case, SKIP this place if you are serious about your storage plans because this place seems to be a figment of the imagination. Every part of the experience was excellent. They arrived on time and were careful with fragile boxes and extremely efficient in the move. We were moving half our apartment into long term storage flex boxes and the other half of the apartment into a moving truck to be taken to a friends house. I had labeled everything to make sure things went into the proper place. The guys were extremely diligent and organized. If they weren't sure about a certain item, they always asked. Everything made it into their proper place. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Their prices were very good and within the competition. Elizabeth was my point of contact through the process and she did an amazing job of explaining everything. When I called or emailed, she always answered or responded quickly. There was a minor mix up on the invoice and she fixed it immediately. The credit showed up the day after the mistake. Great company and great concept. Would absolutely use them again. read more

So when I first called these guys they seemed very helpful and straight to the point. They dropped of the boxes no problem. When it came time for billing they failed to bill me every month and then at the end billed me all at once which was not was I told would occur. I had my boxes with them for a few months and when it came time for them to drop off I got my boxes but they failed to mention anywhere that you needed to file for a permit to have the boxes outside of my house so the township wrote me a ticket for the boxes. When i had left my house the boxes were out front and when I returned they had dissappeared. I called Flexbox but they did not answer so I had no idea what had happen to my boxes and I had a $1200 couch inside. When I finally got ahold of them they proceded to tell me that it was my fault that I did not get a permit, even though that was not something they provide when giving you the information, and then they tell me that in order to get my belongings back that they took with out calling me, when they had my number on file, that I will have to pay an additoinal $100. They then told me that they were going to drop them off the next day at 11am. They call the next day to tell me they won't drop off my belongings to me and when I was mid sentence the man I was talking to hung up on me. I called back and when I asked if he had just hung up on me he admited he did and proceded to hang up on me again. Not only did he hang up on me but threatened to charge me an additional month for causing him aggrivation. Not only is that unethical and I am pretty sure illegal. If you are looking to use a storage company, this is not the company I would use, their is no paper documentation, poor service, rude people who hang up on their customers and no information about you getting a fine for their stuff. Worst customer service ever, you never threaten a customer or hang up on them. read more
