Had really good experiences the both times I've been to Flightdeck. In both cases, we did the Fox 1 basic air combat simulation. Pretty realistic for a simulation. You get to wear a flight-suit (if you choose), have basic cockpit training, a "grace" practice period, and then go through the "real" simulation. You get in cockpits that supposedly mimic F-15 cockpits very closely, and engage in air combat with the other 7 or so other people in your flight time. Then you have to land the jet - which I think is the toughest part (basically destroyed valuable government property during each landing attempt). You may learn the important life lesson - as I have - that you should NEVER be a fighter pilot because you'd be shot out of the sky like a clay pigeon during skeet shooting. Hoo boy.... The flight crew and everybody else here are really enthusiastic about their jobs and your enjoyment. They now have a very small snack bar where it looked like you could buy some candy and coffee, etc. Parking is plentiful in a lot next to the building, or on the street (it's in a warehouse-y commercial area). Very close to Angel Stadium and Disneyland if you wanted to fit those into your day/evening also. Highly recommended. Now go get 'em Top Gun! read more

This was a lot of fun its like a video game on steroids. The staff is really friendly and make it We arrived early and hung out in what they called the ready room. There they had snacks and refreshments for sale. Then you are fitted for a flight suit before you head to the briefing room, and then off to the flight simulators. The only thing I didn't like about the experience is that that there are no pedals which make turn more difficulty and the fighters less maneuverable. The price is high but I think it is well worth the price. read more

I attended my first session yesterday (and I say 'first' because I WILL be back) it was awesome! The instructor was BMW. He was very thorough and clear in his direction, especially for first-timers like me. They gave you an option to change into the flight suit if you wanted to. I totally suggest that you do exercise that option. For me, it made the experience even better. Plus then you can take a picture with you in your flight suit. :-) And don't worry about wearing the suit, they told us that they wash the suits after each use. You get a practice session once you are in the simulator itself and THEN, they turn on the actual session. That is when it gets REAL. You have a communication port so you can hear commands from the Flighdeck crew and you can talk to them as well, which was very cool! I landed in the water on my first attempt in landing, but did good on my second attempt. I got the highest score, By The Way... :-) I recommend you to try it out! Check Groupon for a deal. read more

We came here for our daughters 11th birthday and we all had a great time. The staff are really nice and helpful. The controlls in the cockpit feel so real and the screen is huge and detailed. The com system is nice to. The simulated air combat can be daunting but they will coach you over the com system to help you out. Would highly recommend. So we landed (pun intended) here for a corporate party/team building. I had no idea what to expect but it was nothing short of AWESOME, we are a decent size group around 40 or so. We had arranged for dinner, open bar (what could go wrong there :)) and some team building stuff while people were rotating through the flights. There quite possibly is nothing better than trash talking your boss right before you blast him/her out of the sky. As the night went on and the drinks kept coming the fun factor increased each moment. The staff was great and accommodating even during some sketchy antics and behavior. My husband and I was really excited about this, but overall, we wouldn't do this again if someone paid us to go again. Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. Suiting up and actually sitting in a simulated cockpit was fun. Cons: This is a two dimensional screen in which you are shooting the number of the aircraft instead of an actual aircraft. There was a glitch in the system so I had to leave the cockpit while everyone else was playing and sit out for 30 minutes so that they can get the system back up. The game crashed several times and I was the only one left where everybody else was finished. In summary, the concept of this was great; however, so much more could be done to improve the graphics and the game. read more

I used to have dreams of flight. Flightdeck Air Combat Center helped me realize my dreams -- virtually. The staff is great, friendly, and ready to give advice. The experience begins with getting suited up. Flightsuits are handed out to all attendees. We are then ushered into a classroom for a briefing on the basics of maneuvering our jets and how to fire off those missiles. Then it's off to the cockpits where you can let out the inner fighter pilot that has been dormant since the last time you watched Top Gun. The Fox-1 mission for first-timers is a fairly basic free-for-all dogfight that technically lasts 45 minutes. When the 45 minutes is up you have two chances to land your jet on a runway. The only way it would have been better would have been wrap around screens. As it is, your cockpit is stationed in front of one screen. A more immersive experience would allow you to try and look above and around you for your bogies. But it's a blast, nonetheless. I would definitely go again. read more

I bought 2 Yelp deals for husband and son. When we got there, my husband decided he'd rather do the Boeing than the fighter jet; they allowed us to change it by paying the difference between the two flights, and both the guys had a fantastic time. I think this is going to be The Boy's next birthday treat with a friend. I enjoyed watching the fighter jets' flights on the monitors in the waiting room, and the pilot let me sit behind him and my husband in the "cockpit" of the 737 so I basically got to go along on that flight! Very interesting to see what flying a passenger jet entails. Well worth the coupons, and I think they'd both feel it's worth the full price as well. read more

This is a great facility with great staff. My friends and I came here to celebrate my husbands birthday over the weekend and we all had a really fun time. Scheduling the visit was very easy and the front desk staff was very polite and informative over the phone and in person. After arriving and checking in we were given flight suits to wear while in the simulator which everyone enjoyed and a briefing on how to work the simulator. Ray was our instructor and he couldn't have been more pleasant. He was very nice, informative and funny. He made everyone feel comfortable and was great at answering questions. We were then guided to the simulators which in our case was the fighter jet experience. The simulators felt super realistic and the experience was personal but also very interactive. We were guided by an instructor real time to get the most of the experience and were also able to talk to each other. Everyone had fun comparing scores at the end and everyone said they had fun. I would definitely recommend this place as a unique and fun thing to try in Orange County. read more

We kept crashing but had a blast. now i feel big headed and anytime i hear someone tell me they played a video game, i'll laugh. This is a MUST GO TO place if you live in the area, or visiting California. It is close to all the Southern California tourist attractions. The people that work there are the real deal, and SO KIND! The place is so real! You really are suiting up to fly JETS! I flew the 737, and it was so intense.... my heart was pounding. I got to choose ANY airport in the world to fly out of. When I was there, there was a group of pilots from Delta Airlines "dog-fighting" each other. IT was so fun to watch them fly, and they were having a blast!.... This place is a great place to take your husband, or boyfriend, but its also a GREAT place to go with groups, or work parties. The facility is pretty big. My heart STILL feels the adrenaline! I had a surprisingly great time here! I booked the Fox 1 for my bfs birthday and last minute decided to participate instead of just watching. The class was really informative and everyone grasped what the instructor was saying really well. I know because I was killed multiple times by everyone in my group so I knew that they understood what to do.. lol I had a lot of difficulty with flying/shooting/landing lol but the workers were pretty encouraging throughout and the experience more than made up for it. My son and I were testing this place out as a possibility for his next birthday party. We got the 1 hour flight that includes about 10 minutes of practice time (I needed this time for sure), about 40 minutes of dog fighting and then 3 different landings including a daytime landing on an aircraft carrier. For me, I would have passed on the landings and just kept on killing people. The dog fighting was a blast and once I got used to it I became a deadly killing machine. We had a full flight of 7 people so we broke up into teams - my son and I, another father and son team - 2 college kids from Philly and a ringer who had his name on the side of his simulator. It was great fun and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Even though it was a very hot day outside the simulator room was very comfortably cooled down. The staff are all top-notch. this was a blast! My wife bought me a coupon for this and I went down on a weekend that I had free. They put you in a flight suit, give you a rundown of flying 101 and put you up in the cockpit of an F-16! The wives/girlfriends can even sit in the waiting area that is filled with the screens of the action (including audio....). This place is a lot of fun. The staff are really engaged and make this a very well rounded experience. You have a brief intro with the team to review logistics. we were a big team bridling group so they broke us up in several groups. They have the place organized well and they have passion about their jobs. In the debriefing room, our instructor reviews the controls and is well engaged with the group. He answers questions and has fun with the group. It's a good 30 minute classroom session and TRUST ME it is necessary. The team helps you along even when you are in the sim and flying around. We had a blast watching the other teams from our group going through their sim on TV screens. It was pretty cool, pretty entertaining, and permitted a good amount of smack talking and jokes. This was a great team building experience and is worth the trip. read more

Took my father here for his birthday. Cost was about $59.00 per person, we had a 3 person crew. Overall, the experience was pretty cool but I think for what we received it was a bit high in price. Technology wise I was expecting more of a VR (Virtual Reality) experience with a bit more interaction. The craft does not tilt or move at all so you are basically staring at a large screen which was COOL but at the end you wish for a little more.. The instructor we had that day was so-so , you would think for the $ spent they would make the lesson (about 30 minutes) before the start of the "flight" a little bit more fun and engaging. Best part was the interaction between pilots and air traffic controller. Not sure if I would go back but glad I stopped by. read more

From start to finish, Flightdeck was great. Lindsey at the front desk is very friendly and accommodating and wait time was pretty much nonexistent. It's the little details that set experiences like this one apart, and I definitely want to commend Paul for the attention he put into them. The dim lighting in the briefing room, the constant radio chatter overhead and the jumpsuits add a lot to the overall vibe. Flightdeck does a great job of blending fun and realism to appeal to every age group. The ambiance and detailed instrumentation inside the cockpits makes it easier to suspend your disbelief. So while I would have been absolutely blown away by Flightdeck as a kid, I still loved it as an adult. Abby and Josh have such great personalities and really made the experience that much more entertaining. I'd definitely recommend Flightdeck to anyone who asked me about it. read more

Worth every dollar! You choose between flying a jet or a commercial plane. Price start around $50 and about 2 hours of entertainment. You must call and schedule add yourself to the list before coming. Before doing the simulation, you get some basic understanding on how everything works. Well worth the drive down from Santa Monica. Wish there was one closer. When they say an experience, they really mean it. after you check in, you sit and wait listening to the people currently on the simulators, and then you get called up for briefing. They take you through basic aircraft movements (if you have ever played any flight simulator video games, like Ace Combat you will pick this up in a snap) and what the basic buttons do. Before you know it, they are seating you in the cockpit and letting you explore for a few minutes before a dogfight. Being able to take off and adjust was really neat. after bouncing around the sky for a few minutes, its fight on! so much fun turning and burning. For me the hardest part was landing. constant throttle adjustments and manuevring while that slow was intense. Over all great experience. I took my two adult children for the afternoon. I had a blast, as did my daughter. My son overestimated his abilities, because he is a video gamer. He was a tiny bit humbled that he didn't excel to the level of his expectations, so not as enthusiastic about his experience as we were. But that was about him, not Flight deck. The joy sticks were quite sensitive. I have pretty serious ADD and it was too much multitasking for this brain. But I didn't care, so my EPOCH fail didn't interfere with my fun. I actually found it so real, my body really reacted as though it was real. My kids did not have the same physical reaction I did. My daughter had the best overall experience. She played better than she expected, and all around great time. The instructor, Steve, was awesome. He had a sense of ownership, although he is not the owner, which impressed me as being unusual in a very good way. The space was clean and very comfy including the bathrooms. I would probably go back, (my only hesitation being only that I won't ever play even remotely well) and I know my daughter plans to go with her bf. Video gamers, it's not gonna be like you think. Great experience! Our (4) adult children joined us in celebrating my husband's 61st birthday celebration. They all joined in and took both session 1 & 2! The instruction was explained well and easy to comprehend. The instructor was witty and personable. Our family learned maneuvers and how to use the fighte rjet bombs and guns. During session one, they learned to maneuver the jet and activate the bombs. In session 2, they engaged in air combat & need-less-to-say, they loved shooting each-other down with the bombs and guns. It was a great exercise in teamwork and in sibling rivalry. Everyone had a great time. Lots of laughter and we would definitely go back for the next level of training. read more

I got a gift certificate for F16 flight sim. The place came highly recommended and after my experience I would have to agree. They took the time to take you through pre-flight instructions to teach you stick controls. You could communicate with all the other planes that you are fighting against, trash talk is encouraged (for the most part). Afterwards they have a debriefing of the total stats for the dog fight in the waiting room where there are flat screens displaying all of the dog fight action.
