As soon as we walked in, they took us to our table and were immediately offered water. We ordered chefs special pizza (delicious) and French fries. I was surprised how delicious the pizza was and the ranch! Would ask for 2 sides of ranch to go with pizza. The lemonade was refreshing and my besti loved her cocktail. It got a bit loud due to other tables around us, but for sure would recommend it for date night. Was expecting to pay over $120 and the bill came out to be $90. Flint by Baltaire serves up wood fired contemporary American fare accented with coastal Mediterranean and bold Middle Eastern flavors. It's located across from the Biltmore Fashion Park. The Phoenix restaurant opened in October 2019 and is the second location after Los Angeles. The restaurant's décor is stunning - ultra modern, spacious, light colored wood throughout. It's been described like a room you'd find in a house in Malibu, overlooking the Pacific. It took a while to place our order. Not sure if our server was overwhelmed or what. But once we got the order in, the procession of plates came out at just the right pace. You can't miss the yummy wood fire aroma when you enter the restaurant. As a result, we decided to order literally every menu item with the phrase: Wood Grilled or Wood Roasted. There are so many, I circled them on the menu and handed it to our server. First up the Spicy Short Rib Humus, followed by the Wood Grilled Spanish Octopus and then the Wood Roasted Cauliflower. I'm not a big Humus fan, but I became one of that pulled short rib variety. The warm pita that accompanies it is so delish! Amazing what the wood grill adds to the already delicious taste of the octopus. It is served with smoky romesco sauce, pepperonata and salsa verde. For the second half, we start with the Wood Grilled Artichoke, followed by Spicy Fennel Sausage Pizza and then the Wood Grilled Lamb Chops. Family dinner to celebrate my daughters 21st Birthday. This time Flint was good, but not great. As my wife put it, "I'd come back, but it'll be awhile". Arrived early at 5:30 before another event we had and it was not crowded. We had octopus and the fried Moroccan chicken as apps. Really enjoyed the salsa verde with the dish for the octopus. The chicken was ok, could've been hotter at the table. I had the Filet, which was came out as ordered. I did ask for it to be peppercorn crusted, which I can get at most fine dining restaurants. My server told me they did not have peppercorns??? Had the little gem Caesar as well, but no crushed pepper was offered. Why do you have a Caesar salad on the menu, but no pepper. Bizarre? My daughter had the filet as well, her partner the tuna tartare and my wife the burger. I had a bite of the burger and it was really good. My wife said it was just the right size. The tuna we were told was amazing. They spoiled my daughter with donuts for dessert, but she is gluten free so we had to order ice cream from the dessert menu. The gelato came out in small dishes, but it was obvious it was prepared that morning or the day before because the gelato was as hard as a rock. We couldn't even get the spoon through the gelato. Now that's NOT how gelato should be served. While it came out very quick, and once it melted tasted great, poking at it in the dish like a hockey puck, uh no!!! Flint is a very happening place. I come here frequently for happy hour and the drink menu and service is excellent. Thought I'd try this for family dinner and was hoping for an amazing experience. I came here last spring with a few friends on a girls weekend and we enjoyed a sunset from the roof with the most amazing refreshing cocktails with a view. I just came back for a work dinner which I was hosting and Alexis made the evening run more smoothly than I could have imagined. We had a group of 12 so we reserved a private room And I pre selected some apps to come out as people ordered cocktails/wine which went very well. We had some hummus, chilled shrimp, a few marg pizzas, and the kale salad. The chilled shrimp were a crowd pleases and everything seems to be grilled so that pizza was spot on!! The Spicy Fennel Sausage Pizza was also good. For dinner we ordered an assortment of kabobs, which come served on a miniature grill, with sides of pita and hummus. So delicious, particularly the chicken kabobs which have a mint or cilantro sauce on top. The pita bread was very good. The only negative thing is some of the bread, pizza, etc was charred and also we got 1 pita bread for 6 kabobs so we asked for extra and they charged us. We spent $400 the least they could do is give us an extra pita bread for no charge. The cheesecake was interesting, not sure i would get it again. The shareable plates were a good size for my table. The meatball plate, and short rib hummus had so much flavor. Totally obsessed with this new spot! It is just what the Valley foodie scene needed. Think upscale Mediterranean and all of the dishes are so flavorful. I really can't think of another concept like it nearby, which I love! Their wine list is fabulous and craft cocktails to die for. You MUST start with a cocktail. They all sounded amazing to me but I ordered the gin/egg white/lavender cocktail and it was dreamy. I probably drank it too fast. ha! For bites, start with the hummus! It is so flavorful and delicious. Next, they have a variety of salads and yummy small plates. We split their grilled artichoke and it was delish. I loved the lemon aioli. I ordered their filet kabobs for my entree (literally melt-in-your-mouth with the tastiest steak sauce on the side), along with their fries and wood fired shishito peppers and was in absolute heaven! This was my first time to Flint. I really wanted the kabobs but found out they only had pieces of protein and no veggies on them. I then thought I would get the salmon but don't like "skin on" salmon so I played it safe and got the burger. The burger was fantastic! I ordered it on a bed of lettuce since I knew I would not eat the bun. The Smokey bacon jam was to die for and the accompanying fries were the best I have ever had! I was disappointed that the dress code was not enforced if you were a skinny, beautiful blond. The gal beside me was in a tank top and Jean shorts. Granted she rocked it however, I felt like they pick and choose who can be invited in. My date had the filet which was great. The broccolini was undercooked and very difficult to eat. The cauliflower small plate was wonderful! Cheesecake was the best we have ever eaten!! All in all I would highly recommend. This placed checked ALL my boxes. It left such an impression. We decided to try this place and treat a friend to dinner at the same time. Centrally located so accessible to all. Ambiance- Incredible. I had two cocktails (sweet leaf and no one ever dies) sweet leaf was a little sweet for my liking but was enjoyable. I did prefer the no one ever dies cocktail. So starters we ordered the chop salad, the octopus, and the artichokes. The chop was unique and had a Mediterranean twist which I loved. It didn't feel so dense as a traditional chop salad. The chick peas added a nice crunch too. The artichokes and octopus were wood grilled so they had a delicious smoky element. Highly recommend the octopus. Great texture and flavor, again Mediterranean. The salsa on there complimented it quite nicely. Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The swordfish was amazing. A nice, generous portion served over a bed of couscous. The couscous really stood out to me because I've never had it like that before and I loved it. The fish itself was quite good and flaky for such a meaty/hearty fish. Only critique is MAYBE more of the salsa, I think a citrus/acid element would really bring it together. Was delicious on it's owns though. Lamb chops and scallops were also delicious. I will say the scallops only had 4 to an order so keep that in mind. Would make a nice lighter option. Everything is very Mediterranean and executed very well. We got the donuts as a dessert and the coffee mousse was amazing. Almost like a coffee Ice cream but light and fluffy.. Cost- So for 3 apps, 3 entrees, 6 drinks and a dessert, we spent 325$ before tip. That's like unheard of. For the quality, location, and experience I was expecting closer to 500$. Short Story- amazing atmosphere and good food but for people with very small appetites. Value is an issue here at lunch time....maybe dinner time is the sweet spot? Long Story- Flint by Baltaire is a contemporary restaurant that serves wood grilled foods with a slight Mediterranean twist. The atmosphere is beautiful and modern. They even have an all weather indoor patio. they serve things like hummus, dips, salads, laffa wraps, pizza, large plates and sides. They are located across the street from the Biltmore Fashion Park in the Esplanade. So that means that you have to park in the garage and get your ticket validated. We started with an appetizer so we shared the wood grilled artichoke ($14) It was delicious and was seasoned with the perfect amount of salt. We also shared a chicken laffa flatbread ($13) and a BIG PLATE (that isn't so big) of ora king salmon ($28). The chicken laffa flatbread that really is more like a chicken wrap. My half only contained a little bit of cabbage, one pickled red onion slice, one slice of egg, some tahini and one shred of chicken...it was only like two bites of food. I do think my husbands half was bigger but not much bigger than mine. It was delicious with the added harissa but I don't think it was a full portion of food....(even if I ate the whole thing myself) Then we shared a BIG PLATE (that wasn't so big) of ora king salmon. The fish was prepared and seasoned well and came with a crisp skin. The plate also contained a small dab of olive-almond relish and a side of broccolini. I do have to note that the broccolini might have been the best tasting broccolini I've ever had. It was prepared to perfection and had a great tasting wood grilled taste. I really did like the food. I loved the atmosphere. Service was good. But in the end we paid $55 for lunch for two people (before tax and tip) and left hungry so I can't be a fan (4 stars) and must leave 3 stars. Outstanding. We went week one and again last night... when it was pouring rain (who does that???) Once inside, there was a crowd, so a bunch of like-minded men in the room!!! Open concept. Two fireplaces. Large bar area. The wait staff was great! Honey wanted blacken salmon, which isn't on the menu. The chef pulled it off no problem. It was nice, moist, and full of goodness! He had to remind me that it was HIS entree. I had the lamb chops the first time. They were very tender. This time, I tried the scallops. What a surprise! They were cooked to perfection. WOW I was blown away by this restaurant! I've heard a lot of hype about it and decided to spontaneously go on a Monday night. Although it was early in the week, a good amount of tables were filled and the bar was packed with guests - always a good sign! Our server was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable on the menu, she gave us recommendations that we ended up ordering that did not disappoint! We got the kebab platter (we chose 2 filet mignon and 1 chicken) and the lamb chops, both were phenomenal!! We also added a side of potatoes which were the best potatoes I've ever had. For every dish, the presentation was stunning, flavors were explosive, and portions were fair for the prices. Easily shot to the top of my favorite restaurants list in the Phoenix area. It's been a while since I've had an awesome conversation with the bartender while enjoying the awesome service too. His attention to detail about the menu was impeccable and undoubtedly knowledgeable. I ordered the fried chicken and I asked him to order his next favorite dish which was the tuna, perfect pairing for the wine that he also helped choose, the rose from France. Vibe - A few words that can describe the vibe ..modern yet warm Arizona sophistication. Everything work well together from all the open spaces to the private dining room and the outdoor seating area, get this, it's for the air condition so you can actually sit outside in the hot summer and being cool air conditioning. My girlfriend invited me for the soft opening party! They were very organized for a soft opening . Our server Rowan was on top of everything, answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable. They cleared everything promptly and everyone was very friendly. Loved the glass wall looking into the kitchen ! We had a fantastic dinner last Sunday in the open-air dining room on a beautiful night. The standouts were the bone marrow (flavorful and luxurious) and the swordfish (cooked to perfection). The service was attentive, friendly and professional; it cannot be overlooked because bad service can ruin a perfectly executed dinner. The only suggestion I'd offer is that the salads need a pop of acidity to awaken the palate. Overall, dinner was amazing in terms of ambiance, cocktails, food and service. We have been to Flint often, and love Flint Baltaire in LA. We were super excited about having one in the neighborhood. Last night service was a bit off. Our reservations were at 7:30 and we were promptly seated but we did not get our cocktails until 8:15. We didn't get to order our meal until 8:40 and only when we asked to order. It wasn't that busy of a night but it look steady. Our appetizers were great, as were our entrees but I believe it should not take 45 minute to get 4 cocktails. I was sharing this info with a friend who said they experienced the same things. VERY SLOWWWW service. Maybe Flint should consider having more bartenders. read more

After enjoying a second evening dining at Flint, we decided to book our son's wedding rehearsal dinner in a private room called "The Arthur". We are so happy we did! OH MY! Flint hosted us and 28 of our guests, all friends and family, for a fantastic Friday evening meal. The room was very comfortable, and in line with the understated elegance of Flint's décor. Perfect for our event! We worked with Cali, their event planner, for a few weeks prior to the dinner, and she was very helpful, friendly, and enthusiastic about our big evening celebration. She listened to our vision and helped us bring it all together. Her guidance was excellent, and she was a joy to work with! The food was excellent all around! We chose Grilled Swordfish, Roast Chicken, and Filet of Beef, and we heard nothing but compliments on the food from our guests. Professional servers teamed up to bring the food hot to the tables. Our guests complimented the food over and over again. They truly enjoyed the main dishes, the salad and appetizer choices (the roasted and seasoned chick peas in the humus were so delicious!), and the fantastic assorted desserts that came as well. The kitchen really out-did themselves! Our lead server, Corinna (sp?), was very organized, cheerful and relaxed. I had a bad experience at Flint last year. I wet back recently with my friend and this time around, my experience at Flint was much better. I had a wonderful time. I actually tried their food, and starters and they were all wonderful. For dessert, warm donuts were served and it was soooo awesome, especially the Turkish coffee mousse was tasty! Highly recommend the flint chopped salad. My friend and I had the ranch on the side. I had the salad without the ranch and it still tasted great and refreshing. It slowly started getting packed so if you want to beat the crowd I recommend coming around then. Our server was Coreena and she was lovely. This was my first time coming to FLINT after a long awaited time. It was me and my friend and we decided to go to the bar and take advantage of some of their happy hour specials (4 - 6pm) Atmosphere: more on the upscale side, moody, romantic but still a perfect place to meet friends/family. Food: * bone marrow: served above charcoal so it is sizzling by the time it comes to your table. The marrow is served with bread and a salsa spread that went perfectly with the marrow *olives: I was a little hesitant to order this, but the olives were perfectly warm and doused in a beautiful, creamy olive oil. It comes with proscuitto as well so the pairing was delicious *short rib hummus: the short rib was very tender and went well with the fresh hummus served with pita bread *fennel sausage pizza: I'm not a lover of sausage in my pizzas but my friend assured me that it didn't have that sausage, gamey taste and she was definitely right The service was 5 stars and I can attribute that to our bartender Eli who was very accommodating and overall positive throughout our entire dinner. I must say we might've ordered a lot more than we ate and I think it was because we got a lot of bread. I would love to try the seafood next time! Overall, great food and atmosphere. On the recommendation of an Instagram post from a food influencer, I went to Flint for a birthday dinner celebration. Overall, I would say it was a rather disappointing dining experience for a few reasons: - The server was passively kind. Not quite sure how to describe it, but you know when you're upset with your partner but then they apologize and so you're trying cool down and check your attitude? It felt like that she was the partner trying to be nice to us after we apologized. It seems like her engagement with us was not genuine, and it left all of us at the table feeling rather cold not really welcomed. - the food was slightly overpriced and servings were small. I know that most fine dining places usually have smaller portion sizes but this one in comparison to the price could've been better. - The most disappointing aspect of the night was my kale chopped salad I made vegan by asking the server to remove the chopped ham and white cheddar. After consuming about 30% of my dish, I realized as I was chewing on bits of chopped ham pieces (eww) that the ham was not omitted as requested. When I brought this to the servers attention, she was not very apologetic at all, and simply asked to bring me a new one which I told her I was not interested in. -As far as the rest of the dishes from my party, two ordered the lamb chops, which were rough, and no steak knife was provided to cut it. another person ordered the salmon, which was prepared with the skin on which we all found to be quite unusual choice for fine dining restaurant and the the final person got kebabs which was reportedly great and my friend had no complaints. The hummus and the fries were also tasty. Even though our party of five was not happy very with the service or the food overall , we still left a 20% tip for the waitress. I am so glad we were able to get into Upstairs at the FLINT. I had seen pictures on Yelp and their IG page and it did not disappoint. The space is smaller than I expected but also more intimate, beautifully decorated, and has nice views. We came on a Monday evening and were able to get a seat at the bar without a problem. However I bet it wouldn't have been that easy had we come on a weekend. The service was fantastic as well. Our bartender was friendly and unpretentious (unlike a lot of the rooftops in Chicago) and the woman who seated us was also incredibly nice. I ordered the Aguita de Melon cocktail which was fantastic. It was a quality cocktail, one you'd expect from a nice cocktail bar. A lot of times rooftop bars have mediocre to poor cocktails since they know you're coming for the views/atmosphere but Upstairs at the FLINT did a great job all around. When you walk in, you are welcomed to an atmosphere that's definitely business-conducive. It's loud, and hopping. I ordered the Filet with Yukon Gold Potatoes. We also ordered Broccolini, Crispy Brussel Sprouts and Charred Sweet Corn for sides. The Filet was seasoned well and cooked to a nice medium temperature. The sides were delicious, and we definitely had our fill. For dessert, we had a sampler of ice cream, chocolate tort with caramel and a fruit pastry. All in all, it was a nice experience. I frequented this rooftop bar plenty before I was finally surprised and then later disappointed with dinner here. The rooftop bar is very beautiful and lively and the drinks are a considerable price with generous premium booze. It doesn't stay open that late which I think is a bust but it is great between 9-1030. The venue is beautiful inside and out. The lighting is intimate and inviting and the design very thought out. The menu is pretty eclectic so we ordered a little at a time to see how stuff was tasting. I would say it's defitnely for a more sophisticated palette or someone not afraid to venture out. The burrata was ok but the toast was beyond charred it was burnt. I noticed a pattern of intense charring throughout the meal. I thought it was peculiar the way the skin of the salmon was incorporated into the dish. It was crispy and added some texture but parts of it were also burnt. The broccoli that came with the salmon was not worth mentioning or finishing. I think we could have ordered more food but since we were not impressed we took our talents and wallets to Cheesecake Factory for sugary desserts. read more

Dined here last Saturday fi a shared birthday dinner. We were not approached for over 15 minutes , I finally flagged a host who started to take a drink and food order. Our server finally came and was an order taker , no explanation or enthusiasm. We had minimal interaction from then food was dropped plates were cleared no new silverware between courses. Ran out of water , had to flag our server again. No one followed up to see if we were enjoying things. Food was ok but ruined by such lackadaisical service. I am so torn over what to rate FLINT - I would rate it at 3.5 if halves exist. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. The place is perfect for date night, birthday dinners, you name it. Parking is very easy, and if you eat upstairs, you will get the best views of Camelback. Some items on the menu are amazing while some are nothing to write home about. The service has been consistently good during the first two times I've been here, however last night was a different story. My boyfriend and I had a reservation at 0845PM but weren't seated until around 9PM. We didn't get our drinks until 10PM and food at around 10:20PM. I regretted booking our reservation here as we were going somewhere else originally, however I wanted to eat somewhere with a nice ambiance and booked a reservation at FLINT last minute. There's really no one to blame for the extremely slow service as they seemed short staffed. For food, I definitely recommend the tuna tartare - amazing. The lavash with sesame on the side was a perfect accompaniment. The burger was okay - I did love the bacon jam. I recommend the wood oven roasted half chicken for some clean food. I've had the short rib hummus in the past as well as the lamb cavatelli which were delicious. The drinks are amazing. I always get the girl from ipanema, while my boyfriend gets their old fashioned. The highlight of our dinner was our amazing server ERIC. He is what every person in the industry should aspire to be. He was attentive, knowledgeable and personable. He apologized numerous times for the slow service and explained to us why there was a delay with our food and drinks being served. Service was amazing, the food was great although my scallops were salty. I think the chef was a little heavy handed. That being said I got the pound cake for desert and that made up for the scallops. I will def be back once the weather breaks, this a great spot. read more

Absolutely amazing! Let's start from the beginning. No dress code but it's more than likely business casual. Make RSVP or you can head up stairs if you do not have one. The manager, on her own, asked if we'd life complimentary cocktails in which we accepted. As for food, we ordered the Short Rib Hummus, Spicy Lamb Meatballs, and Lamb chops.
