My husband and I went out for date night and tried this place for the first time. We were not disappointed! The service was very quick and the server was prompt. Olive & Ivy had been on my list for a while as it's one of the most popular restaurants in Phoenix on Yelp. I finally stopped by for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Located in Kierland Commons on the waterway in Scottsdale, it's not easy to figure out why this restaurant is so popular. My friend made a reservation over a week in advance for 7:30. All they had available was 7:45 on the patio. I was a bit annoyed. With that being said, when I arrived, the restaurant was almost completely full. No fake hype here. I parked on the street a block or so away from the restaurant. You can also park for free in the parking garage. Ambiance (4/5): As a Fox Concept restaurant, I wasn't surprised that the ambiance is nice. It's a large restaurant with a large patio. They say that they're bringing the French Riviera to you. Maybe not quite, but still definitely a pleasant restaurant with nice decor and sophistication without being stuffy. Service (3/5): Service was a bit lackluster. Our waitress did a good job stopping by promptly in the beginning. Toward the middle of our dining experience and the end, she stopped by seldomly. One of those situations where you're actively looking for your waitress because she's not stopping by periodically. A little more attentiveness would've helped, but outside of that, she was friendly. Drinks (4/5): I had a long day at work and I was ready to unwind. They have an interesting cocktail menu and I was torn between two choices. I ended up going with the seasonal sangria. Normally, I don't go for basic cocktails, but this is not your basic sangria. Yuzu was in the sangria which I've never seen before. Hence the seasonal aspect. It was refreshing. Outside of cocktails, they have your typical assortment of wine, beer, and soft drinks. Food (4/5): Olive & Ivy is Mediterranean fare with a California twist. They started us off with some complimentary bread and pesto sauce. Always a nice touch! The bread wasn't my favorite but hey, free is free. They have an interesting menu, just not the most appealing for my tastes. Some entrees are pretty expensive while others are affordable. There was only one dish in my mind that stood out and that's what I went with: the lasagna Bolognese. And I'm happy I did! A fusion of two classic Italian dishes. It was quite good. Reasonable portion size, though I would've liked a bit more. Flavorful with spinach ricotta and melted cheese on top. Up there with some of the best lasagna I've had. And served with a slice of what seemed to be a French baguette with melted butter. Overall, very, very good. And here's a pro tip: they have a marketplace area of the restaurant which is more of a grab and go type of spot separate from the restaurant. $4 for one scoop of the Oreo Cheesecake gelato. This is a popular restaurant, and you can tell from the minute you walk inside! My favorite feature was the lighting, specifically the glass lanterns all along the ceiling. We were seated in a comfortable booth. We did wait until our reservation time, but were seated right away. Before we were seated, we decided to get drinks at the bar and enjoy them in their outdoor seating area in front of the restaurant. There's multiple tables and chairs just outside the entrance and they are well protected from any weather. We enjoyed their Espressotini (one of the best Espresso martinis I've ever had!), the La Flora (deliciously fruity), and the Old Fashioned. All were exceptional cocktails with beautiful garnishes! For appetizers, we shared the smoked salmon bruschetta (they kindly cut it into 3 pieces for our group), the arancini, and the Brussel sprouts. Our waitress, Barrie; recommended the Brussels sprouts, and I'm so glad she did--they were AMAZING! For dinner, we had the grilled artichoke flatbread (great crust!), the chicken scallopini, and the seafood medley with black pasta in a tomato broth-sauce. The flatbread was crispy with a good amount of cheese, and the dollops of goat cheese and piquillo pepper jam were the perfect toppings. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had lots of gooey cheese. The tomato sauce on the seafood medley was light but flavorful, and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. During dinner, we enjoyed a bottle of Sangiovese which was smooth and a light but bold red wine. My dad also had the spicy margarita, which definitely has a KICK but is tasty. Finally, we shared the lemon cake which Barrie kindly put a candle in and the plate said "Happy Birthday!" In beautifully piped cursive. We also had the creme Brulee, and even though it's not a go to dessert for me; it was fantastic! It had the perfect crunchy crack of sugar and an assortment of berries. The portion was a pleasant surprise too! We will definitely be returning! If you dine here, make sure to ask for Barrie -- she is so sweet and did an amazing job serving us! I'm not sure what happened, but the to-go section was a nightmare. There were only two people ahead of me, yet we still waited nearly 40 minutes--if not an hour--just to place an order. The staff are nice, but the service is extremely slow, and once again, the dish we ordered was not something I'd recommend. In closing: Parking is usually easy to find, as there is always someone pulling out but also there's a free underground parking garage here as well...which is super creepy to park in. This spot was always a favorite during my business trips, and it did not disappoint on this personal visit. In September 2025, we came down to Scottsdale for our anniversary and we were so lucky as it was also Restaurant week in Scottsdale! After some deliberation we decided to try Olive and Ivy. We were able to snag a 7pm seating so we took a Waymo there. The location is right by the canal, the sky still red from the sunset and lights wrapped around the palm trees twinkled in the early evening as we crossed the bridge toward the entrance. This is clearly an upscale establishment, with modern decor and courteous but casual staff who welcomed us and ushered us to the bar as our table was made ready. I had an Old Fashioned (yum!) and my wife had a spicy margarita. Both were outstanding, and before we could finish, the table was ready so we took our drinks and gazed around the interior on our way to the table. At eye level, it is upscale relaxed and when you look up, the ceiling is high and industrial but supplemented by large old-style bulbs which add some interest and add depth to the interior, which is quite spacious. There is a large area in one corner where the chefs prepare the meals, which I always find is a good sign as they are not hiding away somewhere. The restaurant week had an amazing 3 course meal we could not pass on. $55 per person which includes a glass of the wine. We of course did the upgrade for $15 per person to get 2 full bottles. You can't even buy this wine for $15, what a deal. The wine was Kari Hart Chardonnay and was fantastic. My starter was truffle arancini in marinara and did not disappoint, with some basil pesto and oodles of shaved parmesan cheese. My main was a perfectly cooked filet of beef with dauphinoise potatoes and asparagus. It was full of flavor, expertly seasoned and prepared. I had creme brûlée which came with strawberry compote and a few sprigs of mint leaves. My wife had mussels as a started and the sea bass with artichoke, tomato, olive and lemon caper butter. She enjoyed both of them very much. Overall, great atmosphere, fantastic fantastic service, perfectly cooked food and a very enjoyable place that we will absolutely come back to as soon as possible. read more

On a Sunday afternoon we decided to prop in for a light lunch. This was our first time at the restaurant but was keen on this location due to its extensive patio area. We learned during brunch time it's best to make a reservation around noon. Fortunately we were able to grab a great spot at the bar before it filled up! The salad was super clean: salad came with a buttermilk dressing but I required a lighter dressing. The gyro sandwich was good and came with appropriate sauce. As the portions were so big, we ended up bringing the sandwich home. We also had yummy fresh bread with a basil dip. The basil dip was excellent. To complement our meal we had a couple of cocktails. Cocktails were spot on and made to our liking. The restaurant offers a wide range of seating: the bar is a significant size, u shaped. Plus by the bar there is some couch seating. The bartenders manning the event bar were fantastic, especially Daniel! He kept the drinks flowing and even walked drinks over to our table when he saw ours were running low. We lucked out and got two seats at the bar. Bartenders were fantastic!! Dan was our main server and was exceptional. Started with old fashioned for each of us. Elijah Craig bourbon. Yummy. Had the lamb meatball appetizer which was great. My wife ordered the rock shrimp pasta and loved it. I ordered a bowl of soup and it was very nice. There is a huge patio which looked great.
