Really enjoyed Flint! Their space is a little tricky to find but it is beautifully open and I love the aesthetic! We ordered a few apps - short rib hummus, bone marrow and of course an extra pita and were so happy with all of our choices! My family and I all ordered something different for dinner! I ordered the skewers and carrots which is enough food to serve 2 people easily! They had a somewhat limited cocktail menu but their bar is huge and beautiful. We had a spectacular wood fired meal at Flint. Mediterranean cuisine executed to perfection. I had to have some hummus, and to my delight I was able to convince my wife to get the Short Rib option with harissa. It was excellent and came with a delicious piping hot pita. We also had the wood fired octopus that we liked. For our mains the lady had diver scallops and I had some lamb chops. Added a side of quinoa tabbouleh to round out our dinner. Loved it all! Let me start off by saying that FLINT by Baltaire is a beautiful restaurant!! Just beautiful! The ambiance is everything! My love and I were really impressed by the setup and decor of this place. We had a wonderful server who was very attentive to our needs and provided us with a great experience! We ordered some drinks to start along with the hummus, which was so tasty! and an order of shishito peppers. When I say we got a huge serving of peppers, I mean we got a HUGE serving of peppers. It was a bit much. Not sure if that was a usual portion or not. For entrees, we ordered the scallops and the wood grilled kabob (shrimp). The presentation of the entrees were fabulous! So appealing! The taste of them were on the okay side. That is why I rated a 3 star. The ambiance is a 5 but the food was more of a 3. We would go back and have some drinks instead of dining. Some pretty creative cocktails are offered here. A couple of drinks I'd recommend are the Aguita De Melon and For Whom the Bell Tolls. Absolutely amazing. The only thing that would have made the time here even better is if the rooftop was open. The food here was beautiful and delicious. If I had one little complaint it would be on the side veggies..just not cooked to my doness. The ambiance was nice and the decor fresh and modern. My girlfriend and I went for our anniversary and showed up 30 minutes early. They said we were able to head up stairs to have a drink at the first come first serve bar so we did, on a Tuesday night it wasn't too busy. We headed up stairs to sit at the bar to share the short rib hummus and a couple dirty martinis. The appetizer was amazing as were the drinks. As 7:00 rolled around we closed out up top and headed down where we were sat and shortly after greeted by our server, Eric. He was very happy to see us and introduced himself self immediately then asked for our drink order. I ordered a woodford otr while my lady got the old fashion off the cocktail menu, which she loved. Eric took great care of us throughout our time there while we both enjoyed the 8oz filet. It was our anniversary they offered a dessert on the house in which we accepted and enjoyed very much. They treated us very well for our special day between Eric and the GM Luke I would certainly go back just because of the outstanding service, great food and comfortable ambience. Wow is all I can say.!! We came here after two other failed attempts at going out for dinner. We arrived to a friendly valet and had the difficult decision of which restaurant to try. We walked into Flint and the vibe is upscale but oh so luxurious and yet comfortable at the same time...Like a cashmere blanket! We sat in some super soft leather chairs and were pleasantly greeted by the server. We ordered some craft cocktails which were so nicely presented! On to the food.. unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of our entrees but they were so delicious! I ordered the octopus plate and a side of broccolini. Hubby had the burger with fries and a side of brussel sprouts. We ordered a second round of drinks and were feeling pretty good by the time we finished. No room for dessert but maybe we can try it when we come back again soon! read more

My husband and I did a complete buyout of the restaurant for our wedding reception in November. I can't say enough about how amazing the experience was for us and our guests! Everyone raved about the atmosphere, amazing food and drinks and the staff! The staff went above and beyond making sure all 150 guests were enjoying themselves and accommodated. As the bride and groom, we were assigned an incredible server who ensured we had a drink in our hand, food on our plates and that we didn't want for anything (I wish I remembered her name, but she knows who she is!) Working with Flint's director of events, Alexis Jones was a pleasure! She went to bat for us with all of our special requests and was really the best liaison between us and the restaurant. Planning a wedding isn't always the smoothest process, but Alexis was supportive and rolled with the punches! Rafi our waiter started out ok. We both ordered a salad mine came with bread. Salad came no bread I was told NO salad comes with bread. I had time for another visit on my last trip. I had the Gem Salad and Ora King Salmon. The salad is so good. I love anchovies but don't be afraid, it's subtle. It's a lite vinaigrette that's more Cesar with lemon or citrus. It's superb. Don't forget the soft boiled eggs, chilled yet runny yolk, I'm going to try at home with my sous vide. Second, the salmon. Skin unbelievable crisp. Crunchy in fact, I'd normally pass, I'm so glad I didn't. Cooked perfectly. Medium rare warm center. The almond relish is spicy similar to Pico but including capers. Our server hardly came around to check up on us and at the end of our dinner we had to ask the server for a desert menu. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER?!? Well, at least as far as I can remember. I don't recall ever getting so angry that I felt like I needed to quickly take more blood pressure medication. My son and his girlfriend love this place so I suggested we go there for the "last night of spring training" dinner with another friend. It all started out well enough. The first course went fine. Then, well, then there was no main course...at least it seemed like it was never going to come. I'm not used to timing my meals so I don't know if it was 40, 45 or 50 minutes that we were waiting. I do know that, at various points, the waiter apologized, the manager apologized and said she would be standing in the kitchen waiting for our food then the waiter apologized again. What happened next made my head spin. Two desserts showed up. A bowl of cinnamon rolls and some kind of pie with gelato. At first I think I said, we didn't order that - figuring they had the wrong table. No, for some inexplicable reason, the manager thought we'd like some desserts before our entree. In all my life (including when I was a restaurant manager) I'd never seen this before. Why not a) ask us what we'd want to hold us over until our entrees (finally) arrive? or b) maybe send some french fries or bread? c) maybe just bring us our entrees? Then the manager came back to apologize again and I pretty much asked "What the heck were you thinking?" and she said some people like sweets while they wait? HUH??? If I'm waiting for filet why would I want cinnamon rolls or gelato? Have you ever ordered dessert before your entree??? Well, the food finally showed up. The manager comp'd the drinks and the desserts we never ordered and some sort of bread showed up. Unfortunately, I was so pissed off at that point that I'd pretty much lost my appetite. Frankly, the entire meal should have been comp'd, or at least the entrees. I pointedly suggested to the manager that "my son and his girlfriend love this place, maybe you could give them a gift card" but that apparently didn't register. I have to admit my guilt that I did not tip the waiter. It wasn't entirely his fault this evening was a disaster but I couldn't bring myself to spend one dollar more than necessary...our meal was still over $200! I think Flint strives to be a great restaurant. Everyone has their off nights I suppose but I would have expected them to do a better job of making things right. So, Flint, what do you have to say for yourself? Is that the best you can do? UPDATE: The day after this experience, Flint called my son (who made the reservation) to apologize, ask for feedback and offer a gift card to cover part of the cost of our dinner. Pretty bummed about our experience here last night. My husband and I have been waiting to try this place and he surprised me with a reservation last night. We came super hungry and ready to be blown away. Unfortunately, that did not really happen. We were seated right away by the friendly hostess but waited at least 8-10 minutes for our server. She finally came by but was not really friendly. My husband ordered a cocktail (we forget the name but it had melon in it). He said it was ok. We waited patiently for our server to come back to take our starter orders. Several minutes pass and she finally comes back. We ordered two starters--the bone marrow and the short rib hummus. Both were ok... the hummus was underrated but the short rib was actually pretty yummy. When it came time to take our orders, we were so ready! My husband ordered the lamb chops and I was going to order some kebabs but was surprised to learn that each skewer was at least $18 and you had to order three... I know this is a pretty chic restaurant but what...? So $54 dollars for three small kebabs? I changed my mind and was ready to let our server know my new choice but she walked away before I could even speak and said "looks like you are ready to order, I'll give you more time to decide". We waited another 10 minutes for her to come back. I ended up getting the swordfish. My husband loved his lamb and said it was perfectly cooked (hence the three stars) and the sword fish was very delicious. Our server didn't really come to check in but that was ok because we were finally enjoying our dinner! It had already been an hour and a half since we arrived. After our server took away our plates, she just dropped down a desert menu... didn't say much at all and walked away. We had heard the deserts were pretty yummy so we decided to give one a try. We got the butterscotch desert and it was pretty ok. Didn't even eat half of it before our server asked if she could take the plate. Never asked us how any of the food was and was just overall not very personable or friendly. We were pretty much over the whole experience and was ready to call it good and go home. After all, it had been over two hours since we arrived. We waited another 10 minutes for our check. Our server didn't come back for the card for another 5-7 minutes and when she finally came back to give us back our card, I saw her almost accidentally give our card to another table! Thankfully, she realized and brought it back to us. I guess I just expected more. Food was good but I can't really say it was worth the high prices. The service was just not great at all. We started with the Spanish Octopus and grilled artichokes...both were delicious. The octopus was so tender! We got the lamb cavatelli and margarita pizza to share and the flavors were outstanding. The pasta had the perfect ragu...thick, creamy, savory, umami, you get it. The pizza was perfectly wood fired and the portions were great. We had plenty of leftovers. The place has a great ambiance. Food was ok nothing spectacular but not bad. Our waitress was a very rude old woman, not sure restaurant still suck old people as waitress . She never smiled the entire time we were dining and drinking, also always made us feel like we did not order the food items or sequence of order just the way she wanted us to order. We ordered normal water with ice not bottled water and she made a gesture to us like we were cheap . We wanted to order the kabob as that's the only menu item looked any good or unique but she mentioned I have to order 3 such orders per person just cannot order one skewer even the menu had price per skewer. It was strange and we ended up just ordering pizza for which we could have just gone to any pizza place. Overall it ended up as a super over priced ordinary pizza dinner for us. I want to love this place. The food is good to great, wait staff attentive and friendly, setting beautiful. But the ambiance leaves me so I can't wait to get out the door by part way thru the meal. The background music is so loud that everyone is screaming to be heard, which amps up the noise level even more. The gorgeous hard surfaces that decorate the place ensure that the noise level bounces around making it worse. If I'm spending this much on a meal (pretty average cost for Phx/Scottsdale these days unfortunately) then I want a relaxing experience.
