Last minute change of plans left us celebrating our anniversary at Flint Creek Cattle. What a great decision. We were able to get a table last minute on a Friday night. Last reservation. We ordered drinks. I love going to a restaurant and giving the bartender loose guidelines and drinking great concoctions. They did just that. Hazy IPA was great as well. We sat on the lower floor by the windows. It is great for people watching and Amazon drivers rocking out at the light. We started our order with the sourdough bread and butter. The butter had an oil, Salt and lemon zest. There was a ton of flavor and was great. We asked for recommendations and went for the 8oz filet and the Hangar steak. Both were amazing but the 8oz filet was better. The sauce on top did it. We also tried the pommes dauphinois. Great potato side and the nutmeg cream Parmesan was tasty. For dessert we went with the Brûléed banana split. It was good. I didn't think it was as good as the reviews said. We wished the brownie had been warmed first. Overall the service was on par. The bill was expensive but think the quality matched the cost. The steak rivaled that of some Bellevue and Seattle steak houses. Most of all we appreciated that our food was locally sourced. FlintCreek salvaged a sad experience at their next-door neighbor, Bar Sur Mer. We dropped in on a busy Friday night on a wing and a prayer, no reservation, and the host seated us immediately (someone else's last minute cancellation was our gain!). Carrie, our very capable and friendly server, took care of us so graciously. She made thoughtful suggestions about the menu items, answered questions about the drink menu, and demonstrated a warmth that was really lacking at our prior stop that night. The food was great - generously portioned for sharing, well-cooked, delicious. The little touches really make the dishes there (fried basil leaves on the burrata, herb salad on the eggplant, whipping the butter for the Sea Wolf sourdough). *TLDR: We left feeling duped and had wished we spent our money elsewhere. It was the only disappointing meal we had from our one-week stay in Seattle* I heard this was place was phenomenal (from both yelp reviewers and locals) while my family and I were visiting friends in Greenwood during the summer. So, very late review bc life is busy, but I still think about this place as our experience stuck with me. One night during our stay, my husband and I decided to pop-in on our wedding anniversary for a special dinner. We didn't make reservations. We were walking around Greenwood searching for a place to eat. We passed up what were probably great places to eat but wanted to give FlintCreek a try. Thankfully, they had a table available at a high top near the bar. (With very uncomfortable seats!) I will start with the execution of the food. We spent $12 on rolls that were pretty mid. I feel that more often than not, bread is complimentary in restaurants, but I didn't mind paying if this bread was going to knock it out of the park. TBH, they were dry, pretty tasteless, and needed far more butter. The MOST I could see myself spending on these rolls is $8...and that is because the portion was generous. These were def overpriced IMO. Secondly, I ordered the duck confit, which was recommended by our server. Unfortunately, this $42 dish was DRY and TOUGH. Some parts were inedible for an already small dish that was nowhere near filling. The mustard cream sauce was delicious, although there wasn't enough, so I asked for more, and I happily was given a generous ramekin of it. I also enjoyed the lentil ragout (far more than the duck, which was meant to be the star of the show). This was a bummer since I was expecting the dish to be the highlight of my meal. My husband ordered the ribeye steak ($68). It was just good; nothing stood out compared to many other steaks we've had from other steakhouses around the country. It was on the smaller side, as well. The butter it was served with was unique and tasty to me, but my husband didn't like it very much and wasn't aware his steak was coming with a special butter, or he would have asked for both it and regular butter on the side. (Unsure if the menu stated this, so that could have been on us. Otherwise, it would have been nice to know at the time of ordering). The hospitality aspect was lacking throughout our stay. No one seemed very interested, enthusiastic, or friendly. Most notably, when we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, we were told they don't "do anything" for such an occasion. That's fine, although I was slightly surprised with this being a higher-end establishment. It was the uninterested tone and no effort to make the experience special anyway. No simple attempt of "Happy Anniversary!" or a quick "sorry about that!" ...just a "we don't do that." To be fair, I straight-up asked if a free dessert, or something of the sort, was offered--so that I could decide how I was going to order. (I may have wanted to save room or consider a "dessert cocktail" when ordering drinks, etc). Again, no one was rude or unpleasant, but we definitely expected more. No biggie overall but wanted to add these details as it paints a more nuanced picture of our experience. I also want to mention that the mocktails were almost just as much as a cocktail. Being a bartender in the past, I absolutely understand charging an appropriate amount for a carefully-crafted drink, especially ones made with fresh-squeezed juice/special ingredients, but if I'm not paying for a shot of alcohol, there should still be a larger price gap. I don't feel I should ever pay more than $10 for a mocktail. All-in-all, we didn't order more food even though we still had room. We had spent a lot of money (over $200) on food that wasn't that great and on a few drinks (both alcoholic and non). For such an expensive meal with a high reputation, we were hoping to be more impressed. We left feeling duped and had wished we spent our money else-where. The servers are nice and the atmosphere is loud, not like bustling energy loud but you're not going to hear your own conversation type vibes. I also very much enjoyed my drink, however the price tag for everything was very high but if you utilize the online payment system through their site they have a discount, and using it can also put more discounts to other restaurants. Which I really liked that idea. Only downfall is the parking situation. If you find street parking great! We just parked in the back of Fred Meyers lot not too far, and that didn't seem like an issue. Hopefully I don't lead others down a wrong path on that. It's a Friday night in January in Seattle, which means it is too cold and wet outside- perfect for a cozy steakhouse date. At 5PM it is already dark outside, which makes the warm glow of the restaurant even more inviting. We were seated in the upstairs dining area by the rail, giving us a really great view of the kitchen, which we really enjoyed. It was fun to see the staff move about, getting plates ready and seeing all the meticulousness that went into preparing the dishes. The two of us split the following: endive salad, bread and butter, charred savoy cabbage, rib eye, an apple pie for desert, and a bottle of cab franc. We left feeling satiated, but not overfull. We were already a cocktail and snacks in by the time we got to dinner, so I'm not sure how portion sizes would feel if we were hungry. The endive salad was the highlight for sure- the endive leaves were crisp, and the cheese and walnuts added a nice variety of texture and flavors that really worked well together. We weren't as impressed by the savoy cabbage; I'm not sure the romesco really worked on it, and I think we may have enjoyed it better if it was dressing-less. The steak was a perfect medium rare, and the tabs of butter on top added a nice saltiness to it. All in all, we had a lovely evening, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was good. If we lived closer, I could see stopping by regularly for a burger and a drink on a weeknight, but as we don't, I would consider this a special occasion place with a local friend or date. read more

I have been to FlintCreek Cattle a few times in the past 5 to 10 years for special occasions. In about 2014, my sister started exploring the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle (I was more familiar with it from outings with my friends growing up). This restaurant is her go-to when we want to do a family meal together and she is footing the bill or we are celebrating her and/or her husband's birthday. Depending on what time and day we have come, parking can be medium to difficult to find, however as long as we do not mind walking it is not much of a hassle. The food has been consistently good and their meat dishes have had high quality protein cuts. It is a little bit on the nicer side, so I have found even dressing semi-formal can result in glares from diners who have dressed formal as opposed to semi-formal. The noise from other customers does carry, so we tend to come early so we can avoid the rush and hear each other when talking. read more

The best meal I've had in Seattle this trip. What a fantastic dining experience. There was not a single dish that was a miss. Both our waiter and the gentleman who brought us some of our dishes raved about the Prosciutto di Parma and they were absolutely correct, it was divine. Our waiter recommended pairing it with their potato rolls and, quite frankly, the potato rolls were shining stars of their own! It was entirely worth it just to eat them on their own! Fantastically fluffy with the perfect mouth texture and the gorgeous coat of oil and salt--they were gone within minutes of being set on the table. I cannot recommend those bread potato rolls enough. Truly amazing. The hanger steak was cooked perfectly, true to the word of medium-rare, unlike other restaurants that shy away from the rare. And its marinade was delectable. Fantastic dish. I would recommend it from the mains. The other people at my table raved about the sausage, the tomato salad, and the bison gnocchi, so I'd recommend those too! Honestly, you cannot go wrong with the food here it seems. Everything is cooked to perfection with much care and attention to detail. That kind of attention is hardly seen these days. And the creme brulee banana split! This is why we came in the first place, after seeing a photo, and it did not disappoint. Phenomenal all around. The people here are amazing. Our waiter, Nathan, was incredibly welcoming and friendly and it was apparent how much he loved the food here, too. The waiter proceeded to make jokes about the restaurant being "the premier vegan and gluten free restaurant in Seattle". It was incredibly gross, inconsiderate and dangerous. What a great find! My husband and I were visiting and we wanted to celebrate our anniversary dinner somewhere special. Luckily I was able to find FlintCreek open for reservations a few weeks in advance through OpenTable, easy booking app. When we arrived the host sat us right away. I love the set up of this restaurant, very high ceilings. You can dress up or casual vibes. We started with the coastline bakery potato rolls, it was so good! Nice and soft inside breading with that salty outside layer, extra butter always. Yellowfin tuna tartare was refreshing, reminded me of various Vietnamese herb flavors. I loved the plating design, colorful and pleasing to the eye. The fennel braised wild boar shoulder dish was very filling. Gnocchi was well made, light, and squishy. The wild boar was so tender, the pieces fell apart so easily when my husband picked it up with a fork. Buuut the main event was the 21 day aged Ribeye - great beefy flavor mixed with all the fatty parts ribeyes are known for made for a perfect steak. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, tender and juicy, and the butter on top just made it extra flavorful. Service was a little on the slower side but she was really helpful with letting us try different types of red wine to make sure it paired nicely with our meal. It was really nice to have a small candle on our dessert to celebrate our anniversary too. We ended the night with the warm strawberry rhubarb crispy - came out with a nice vanilla ice cream on top, not overly sweet and crumbly just the way we like it. We came here for my partner's birthday and we decided to properly treat ourselves. The food was very good but overpriced. We knew it would be expensive going in, we just felt like it should then taste significantly better than cheaper fare. Service was good but somewhat confusing - we had multiple people waiting on us which is fine, they just didn't always seem to be communicating. There is only paid parking close by. And lastly, and this left a poor taste in our mouths, they didn't give a free dessert, drink or anything for his birthday. Every other place we have celebrated in the past tends to do something (beyond offer a candle), especially at nicer establishments. That is of course the restaurant's prerogative - I just appreciate when they go out of their way to make it a special evening. The Yellowfin Tuna / lime ponzu is a crowd pleaser with lots of fun fixings. Venison Pate is a bit big for a small plate, yet goes well with the grilled baguette. Mains and Veggies. Order the #3 Tomahawk, a 3 lb. steak that should be ordered at medium or medium rare for the optimal experience. The wild boar shoulder shines mostly because of the finely prepared Parmesan potato gnocchi (chewy carby bites that will also go well with the Tomahawk). Last, the grilled asparagus should not be underestimated. You will enjoy the rich aioli (mayo) underneath. Desserts. Went in without a reservation Friday night 2/6/26. Staff was helpful, humorous, and efficient. Our party of three was seated at the bar and the verrrry busy bartender Bruce was stellar, interacting with us and taking our orders while frantically keeping up with the drinks orders for the entire place. All three of us settled on the spider steak, which Bruce took the time to tell us a bit about, despite my continual jokes that it was made from freshly shelled tarantula. The dish was so delicious that each time one of us took a bite, that person in our party would bliss out for fifteen to thirty seconds. My wife asked Bruce to take a crack at a drink called the Bourbon Renewal, which he was unfamiliar with, but within two minutes of her request he had it up. The internet is a dang thing. I have only been here once, and it was for Happy Hour, so that's what this review will focus on. Happy Hour is from 4-5:30pm and is only available with "bar seating." It was a bit past 4pm so I was worried I'd miss out (I'm an anxious one)! Luckily when we arrived, we learned that the high chairs with tables next to the bar also serve from the Happy Hour menu. There was one table left. Score! The table was awesome. It even had a ledge alongside to rest my purse, and a hook underneath for my jacket. Anyway let's get to the food... Blue Cheese Burger: It was bigger than I expected! I took a bite and maaaaan that meat (medium rare) was tender & juicy and just wonderful. Now as for the toppings, there could have been a bit more cheese. Also, unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the bun. There was too much bun, and it was a slight bit dry. But overall, I think the burger was worth it. Pork Ribs: Very aesthetically pleasing. The menu description said there was gochujang in these ribs, so this half-Korean was expecting a burst of that red pepper paste flavor! Alas... it was lacking. Don't get me wrong, the ribs were good, but they didn't stand out enough for me to want to get again. The meat was ok but it did not compare to the rich and intensely luscious fat. I like when the meat has absorbed more spices and juices. Alcoholic drinks: delicious Negroni, strong old fashioned, the beer/cider is served to you with the can and a cold glass for you to pour yourself. Service was great! The staff was friendly and attentive. No complaints there. Love the big windows and high ceiling which gives the restaurant a nice roomy atmosphere. In terms of the total experience, parking can be slightly annoying if their lot is full and it's a busy Friday or Saturday night, but it only goes up - way up - from there. Their starters and small plates are outstanding. From their pickled veggies plate (which is amazing despite the boring description) to their pate, to duck confit salad and their sausage over cabbage. They really know how to make these tiny plates sing! I actually thought the pasta itself was the relative weak point, but something has to rank last. My daughter and I loved everything about out meal at FlintCreek Cattle. Light, airy atmosphere, excellent well-timed service, creative cocktails, well-curated wine list, and delicious food. FlintCreek was named one of Seattle's best steak houses in 2022. They have wonderful steak and chops, to be sure, but to call FlintCreek a steakhouse does not do justice to the breadth and creativity of its menu. Neither one of us got a traditional steak. We started with snap pea and radish salad, tuna tartare, and Seawolf Sourdough with salted lemon butter. The salad had a lovely lemon crème fraiche base with tender veggies studded with herbs. The tuna was fresh and well-prepared. And oh, the bread! It took all our willpower not to polish off every crumb before our entrees arrived. For our entrees, we had Wagyu Zabuton prepared with vegetables and balsamic, and fennel-braised wild boar with gnocchi. The wild boar was tender, richly sauced, with pillowy gnocchi. Fennel sage, and tomatoes complemented the rich boar perfectly. We ended with a lovely cherry crisp topped with a generous scoop of ice cream. We were seated almost immediately and we were seated well away from the door. Many a times restaurants place a small table directly where the main door opens, and we somehow get seated there. This establishment was arranged so that would not be the case, no cold breeze to ruin the night. Drink and appetizer orders were taken not long after being seated, service was attentive and lovely. The duck salad and burrata were fantastic, familiar flavors elevated in a unique and thoughtful way. The delmonico paired with the potatoes and mushrooms was a show stopper, that was one of the best foods I've tried. The side dishes were very memorable, unlike anything I've tried. Prepared to be loud. I can't speak to upstairs area but downstairs by the glass windows, loud. Obnoxiously loud, by the echo and way sound carries. So much so that our waitress moved us. Speaking of, great initial service. We had her, she was great. Receptive to our needs, saw my girlfriend wasn't having a good time in the space we were seated and very casually had us move. If we had her for the entirety of our night I probably don't leave this review and just earmark this place as somewhere we just don't go back to. But we didn't. Our new server, after we moved and started our entree, was cold. Nonexistent for most of night, good thing we were in view of the front host or else we would have been forgotten. Food was "eh". If I had to just rate the food 3 stars. Nothing blew me away but it was all eatable and was good on the palate. This is having the tomahawk, mussels, and a few other dishes. At the end of the day I won't remember the meal but in a vacuum free of everything it was Tuesday meal that you might have again next Tuesday. Okay. Before our waitress left (the original one) she was doing such a great job we wanted to make sure she was tipped properly and were informed it was an establishment that "pooled" tips. So just and FYI on this place, it states on the menu below the food allergen info and in the same small print, that it's an automatic 23%. What's not stated is since that is a line item for the restaurant that you as customers are now taxed on the tip as well. So the one great quality about this place, because I will say the ambiance is lackluster and previously stated food is "eh", was the great service we were receiving only for it to fall apart as the night ended. And then to pay a tip that frankly I didn't agree with the amount (least not in agreement that is should be split between my wait staff as it truly was the first waitress that excelled) and then to be taxed on that as well when if I go to any other restaurant I don't get taxed on my tips.
