I've had good teeth my whole life and I recently realized this dentist lied to me multiple times about needing fillings for cavities that weren't actually real cavities. He uses this light technology and convinced me that some natural grooves on my tooth were tooth decay and rudely answered that he knew better when I asked how he knew that wasn't just natural tooth texture. I came back for fillings and even his assistant looked confused when we were drilling as he overexplained the "cavities". I got skeptical and the dentist refused to show me the X-rays after he did the fillings. The next time I came he tried to convince me on getting more cavities filled but I did my research and pushed back and said I only wanted it filled if certain characteristics showed up in the X-ray only, and not his light tech. He also lied about nanohydroxyapatite toothpaste being able to fill carries when I asked. He just wants your money. I have 11 fillings over seeing this scamming dentist over the course of 3-4 years that I probably didn't need. Awful experience. Don't go here. read more

I went in for an emergency check up, which they told me it would be $60 to take care of my tooth pain. I immediately went before they closed and when I was about to pay, they told me it was $180. I was at their mercy and I had to pay. I went back for a tooth cleaning and they made my gums bleed which my gums have never bleed before and I've had many tooth cleanings in my life. They ended up charging me $200 additional because they had to put some sort of medicine under my gum. I would stay far away from this place because what they quote you is not what you end up paying. read more

I am so glad that I went here for my crown replacement. The staff here really went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the final result. It's not easy to get a perfect color match for a single front tooth, and they were very understanding and patient with me each time I expressed that I wasn't completely satisfied with the shade (we sent the crown back to the lab 4 times!). I was feeling bad about being so picky, but they were very honest, understanding, and - most importantly - generous with their time through the whole process. I've been going to this dentist for many years. I've realized after the last time beginning of June, 2022 that all this dentist wants is your money. He stays with the same laboratory for the past 20 years knowing that they rip him off and he just passes on their rip off to you. He comes up with his fees according to what his lab dictates. He drives around in a Lamborghini. The help he hires are a bunch of sweet talking puppets. I left because he wanted to charge me almost $8,000 for an implant and crown. He said that if I don't give him an answer right now. Meaning if I wanted to think about it and come back another time the price will most likely go up. I got this implant done elsewhere for $5,000. - That's a 37.5% savings and got better service. In December 2021 he did a full exam. Meaning when a dentist does an exam he's suppose to report back to the patient everything. What did occur he did an exam - told me I needed a tooth pulled and eventually needed an implant. He forgot to tell me about the other half of my mouth - 6 months later after I went somewhere else because he did not take my insurance. ( HMO insurance does not pay enough for him to service his Lamborghini. LOL ). He then tells me I needed 2 root canals at $2,000 a tooth plus another $1,000 for the crown. (times 2) If he would have told me when he first took the x-rays I most likely would not have to go thru that expense. If you are wealthy and like to throw away your money give him a try. However, if you would rather take a trip abroad go elsewhere. What you would save somewhere else could pay for your trip abroad. read more

Parking: There's a small lot in the back and street parking. Insurance: They take Blue Shield. Service: I'm always scared of the dentist, I gag a lot -_- and I am always afraid the drilling and pain. I started seeing Dr. Harmik last year for some teeth cleaning and I've had discomfort in my last tooth (#2) for a while. I've had a root canal 10 years ago and I knew something was wrong but denied it for at least 6 months :(. Dr. Harmik and his team are amazing, I was really afraid of opening up the crown to see what was under, but he had Dr. Lund (root canal specialist) see me and said that I needed a root canal re-treatment cause through the X-rays, he knew it was poorly done 10 years ago at my last dental studio. After 5 sessions here (removing the crown, re-treatment, tooth mold, and fitting the crown), my tooth is finally complete! I cannot thank Giselle more for her patiences and gentle care with me. I know I have been a really difficult patient but she's very kind, encouraging and VERY professional. And Carolyn who helped with the root canal re-treatment, so gentle, caring and professional! The office is equipped with all the most advanced equipment, and both the dentist/owner and his assistant (who has an alphabet soup of a suffix) were professional and friendly. My 3 stars are for the office staff, incredible service. The Dr. however was not willing to work with my denture problem. I was told that he was "unwilling" to help me because I needed super expensive implants and that I had no bone left to hold the denture in. This may be well and true but how does he know? He took no x-rays and said I needed a $250 CT scan just to find out. After my appointment I went to two other dentists who said my bone in my jaw was fine ( after x-rays) and I now am getting beautiful new dentures that fit awesome for only $2,000 not $20,000. I didn;t need a plate in my jaw at this time like the doc said. Don't get me wrong, this is a great place if you have the money to spend on un neccessary procedures, I'm sure everything he told me I could have used....just wasn't absolutely necessary, and he refused to even consider any alternatives. I felt like he didn't listen to me , nor did he really care about my problem. I found a better doctor so it pays to shop around. Who in the hell as a cash patient can sell their home to get dental work they really don't need??? When I asked him if the cost would be over 10,000 he looked at me and said.." oh yeah WAY over 10,000. I now have excellent dentures from another dentist for only $2,000, and can keep my home...lol! read more

Found this place through a flyer they sent out. I couldn't find any real reviews on the place so I just decided to check it out myself, because they had all the state of the art equipment. Sadly, I really loved the place and didn't end up going here, because of the billing. The staff: Super friendly and helpful. They seemed to have bottomless patience and that's a HUGE plus when finding a dental office. The dentist seemed knowledgeable and friendly. He explained everything I needed and eased my fears. (I have a HUGE dentist phobia) Minus a Star: The billing. They have a set up where you pay first and then you get whatever your insurance covers in a few weeks. Not good when dealing with a $4,000 dental bill. They do have a payment plan, but I wasn't going to pay interest on my dental bills while waiting for my insurance check to arrive. The highlight: BEST DENTAL HYGIENIST EVER. No really. I wish I could remember her name, but I was so impressed by her. I always have an enormous problem while taking x-rays. It was even worse here, because the x-ray mouthpieces are big and don't bend, because they're taking digital pictures. Needless to say, she needed help to get my x-rays, because it was so difficult for me. It took AN HOUR just to get them. I was super embarrassed, but she was awesome. She remained positive and kind throughout the entire process. She deserves a major raise. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting top-notch service and who has the cash or doesn't mind having a dental loan for awhile. AWESOME. read more

I found Dr. Harmik through a flyer that was sent out. I read a few reviews and was a little skeptical because one reviewer complained about the billing and the need to pay up front. Considering that money clearly does not grow on trees I decided not to let that deter me from finding out for myself. The website and the professional of the staff that answered the phone really made me comfortable in securing an appointment. Upon my arrival I was greeted with nothing but smiles (thank Jessica and Erika). I was given a tour of the facility and I must say I was thoroughly impressed not only by the facility, but the entire experience and I had not even seen Dr. Harmik yet. Dr. Harmik took the time to address my concerns prior to taking xray. Upon review of my xrays, Dr. Harmik outlined a treatment, but explained exactly what needed to be done and why. That really spoke volumes to me compared to other dentists that I have been to, that were just all about the money. Dr. Harmik agenda was simple: "you can't lose anymore teeth". I found Flintridge Dental Studio because I was looking for a Doctor who performs the WaterLase cavity treatment. Of course I went to Yelp first, and everybody seemed to like Dr. Derhartounian quite a bit. Wow. This place was SO nice that I started to worry that my insurance might not cover it. Hah. Yes, my insurance DID cover it. The staff are all extremely friendly and personable. They explained everything to me and were sure that they had answered every question that I had satisfactorily. Dr. Derhartounian takes the time to get to know every patient, so plan ahead when making an appointment. I expected to only be at the office for 2 hours--I wound up staying for 4. This *isn't* a bad thing. We chatted in a back room about my dental history, and even made pleasant small talk. Not only did I learn that my last dentist had wanted to perform an unnecessary procedure, but Dr. Derhartounian wanted to charge LESS than crappy Newport Dental in Covina. I let him fill a few teeth and he was without a doubt the best dentist that I've had. Oh, and Brie just the sweetest person in the world and really great with people's kids. Just amazing. This dental office is extremely friendly and professional. I've been coming here for over two years and although I have moved over 30 miles away, I still haven't switched dentists. Every staff member takes the time to get to know you and they actually remember you, unlike other offices. Every treatment and cleaning I have had, has gone great. Dr. Harmik is the best. Highly skilled - he has corrected poorly-done implants for my husband. He also has the latest equipment for early identification of decay, mouth cancers, etc. (Great chair-side manner too!) Even my teenage daughter, with braces, likes going there. My hygienist noticed subtle damage to the top of my teeth, that somehow my past dentist hadn't seen. I didn't realize I was clenching my jaw all night. I got a night guard (and just tried Botox for TMJ) and my morning headaches have gone away. Front office staff is always accommodating and friendly.
