As a new parent, this kind of stuff scares me and it's so hard to find the right place or right pediatric dentist. We get overwhelmed when we do a search but thankfully we arrived here. We found Dr. Suh when our baby fell playing and had a cut inside her mouth. We called several local pediatric dentists but no one could see our little one quickly and then we found Dr. Suh. His office was able to help out immediately! From there, we were so grateful to him and his team. We established care here for our baby and he is extremely good at what he does. From simple things like explaining good preventive care habits for our little one and guiding us step by step on what is happening during the visit. My daughter had some fillings from her previous dentist, one of which fell out many weeks ago and they just could not get her in to replace the filling, which seems increasingly crazy the more I think about it. I finally decided to switch and found Dr. Suh, and what a difference! They were able to squeeze her in the next day, perform an initial intake assessment, take a new x-ray, replace the filling, do a cleaning, as well as perform molar sealing which the previous dentist should have done a long time ago as well, all in about an hour. We've been taking our children to Dr. Suh for almost two decades now and our boys absolutely appreciate his calm and patient demeanor. Dr. Suh thinks it's absolutely important that children don't grow up with a fear of the dentist and does his utmost to make sure children are comfortable. As soon as you meet him you can tell he is a reassuring and comforting figure and it makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE in the world. My younger son was just in today for a very rare cavity and he told me how much he marvels at how Dr. Sun is so deft with the needle he didn't even feel it. I was terrified of the dentist when I grew up, so I cannot tell other parents just how much I value his dentistry practice. I have told many mom and dad friends about Dr. Suh and I've never heard anything negative from those that went. So do yourself and your children a favor and see Dr. Suh. He speaks Korean and English and his office staff are always very polite and pleasant. There is a tv screen playing family-friendly movies, a train table in the waiting room and comfortable seating. Once you're inside the main office, there is another playroom as well. There are video screens above the chairs so kids can watch their favorite animated movie while they are getting their teeth checked. Been taking my 3 kids here for 17 years. Dr. Suh's affiliation with CHLA was my first impression and enough to extend my trust in his service. I still remember meeting him for the first time and learning how much thought he puts into ensuring that the kids don't associate fear with the dentist. I know that was my experience and to this day I'm still fearful/anxious to see the dentist. We've had three visits to this office. He was consistently rude, condescending, and impatient. And he makes you feel like you're doing bad parenting to top it all off. It's really laughable how rude this guy is. I was already annoyed as heck after the second visit but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and gave it a third try. He did not disappoint me. Same attitude. His staff is no better. They're clueless. I honestly want to ask him how and why he is a PEDIATRIC dentist when he has no idea how to handle young children and has no interest in doing so. Just all business. Go into finance if that's the best you can do. You're not fit for this line of job, sir. I suggest you not lecture a parent on parenting and do your job right. I didn't ask for this guy to perform miracles. Just don't scare off my toddler. I was willing to help him out and talk my toddler thru it. He wouldn't have it. Him and his ridiculously oversized ego wouldn't allow it. He said he can handle it on his own. And I am hardly overbearing. I just wanted my 3 year old to hear some reassurance from his mom as he was being treated. To let him know I was sitting right beside him. Because "I" know my kid and I knew he needed it. Was I wrong? I prepared my toddler for weeks prior to the visit with youtube videos of dentist videos with kids his age. Trying to make it look like a fun experience. He was ready and even excited. He was happy and chatting away lying on the reclining patient chair even! Long story short, he did fine and was even halfway thru the checkup when something suddenly triggered his fear again. He sat up and refused to continue. As a parent, I got desperate and attempted to talk him into continuing with whatever means was necessary, promising him all kinds of things afterwards. The doc? Hands off, and no idea what to do. And then tells me I'm doing it all wrong. That promising him treats and things are not helpful and also that my toddler telling me he is ready for a dentist should not be taken seriously. And showing him youtube videos to prepare is not helpful either. And that I'm just supposed to know when he is ready whether he tells me or not. I shouldn't believe my child is what he said. So I shouldn't even TRY taking him to a dentist?? Is that his suggestion? How would I know he is ready when I haven't tried? How would a toddler get better without being exposed to it and trying?? Just wow. I'll leave it at that. I'm not going back of course, and I will def not be recommending him to anyone in need of a pediatric dentist around town. read more

Dr. Suh has a screen on top of each children patients' chair, thus children will pay much less attention to the treatment they are receiving! No stress with my child's dentist visit, can you imagine? We took our two boys ages 2 and 4 for a check up. We definitely were nervous but it was such a wonderful experience. From front desk to assistants to Dr. Suh himself. They did it all to make our boys comfortable during the entire visit. Wish I could leave a positive review, but after bringing my children here three times, I have found his bedside manner to be rude and condescending. Also doesn't do a very good job of consoling and getting nervous children to feel comfortable in the chair. It's sort of a "throw the kid in the fire" mentality. Put them in the chair screaming while you hold them down and he looks at their teeth. I think maybe certain kids he is fine, but wasn't a good fit for us. read more

Dr. Suh is a great pediatric dentist that my son has been going to for at least 10 years. Actually, he was the third dentist we went to after firing the first two who shall remain nameless. One of the things I love about this office is that they will always fit you in if you have an emergency. This is a necessity when you have kids. I have called so many times at the last minutes and they have always made time. The dental hygienists are wonderful and the front office staff are too. For those who only have a few moments to read a review, the best word I can use to describe Dr. Suh is DISHONEST. Two more words are IRRESPONSIBLE and DANGEROUS. There are many others. Here is my full review: We'd been with our pediatric dentist on the Westside of Los Angeles for years, and loooooved him - so even after we moved to LCF, we continued driving to the Westside. Ultimately, schedules became too difficult to coordinate the long drive for a cleaning and checkup, so we started looking at dentists nearby. Makes sense. Dr. Suh was local and seemed to talk a good game, so we started seeing him. We saw Dr. Suh for a little over 2 years. In that time, we specifically requested that he put sealant on my daughter's teeth. Due to a medical issue, she's at an increased risk for cavities, and due to a heart condition, cavities can also pose a *serious health risk* to her. We explained this, and he seemed to understand. We were charged for the sealant (multiple times), and we believed that it had been applied. We were billed for it and paid for it, after all. However, after an appointment two weeks ago, and after we had been seeing him regularly for more than two years, he told us that our daughter suddenly has six (SIX!) cavities. All since the last exam! And this popped out of nowhere, he claims. With no warning. That didn't sit well with me. And that shouldn't sit well with anyone. I asked how that could have happened with sealant on her teeth. His staff (specifically, his wife, who is the office manager and is responsible for the records) finally admitted to us last week that he had never put sealant on my daughter's teeth. Ever. Even though we were charged for it. I can't begin to tell you how furious I was. Regardless of your line of work, this constitutes fraud. He literally lied to us, and - worse - put our daughter's health at risk, knowing the stakes and knowing her medical history. In his line of work, and because he also billed our insurance company for this service, it also constitutes insurance fraud. This is not something I want in *any* provider, let alone a medical professional on whom I rely for my daughter's health and well-being. After I started looking for recommendations to other local dentists, I learned from several other of Dr. Suh's former patients that this is a pattern for him, and a veritable business practice to line his pockets! Apparently, my experience was far from unique. These other families had also been charged for services not rendered, their insurance was charged for work not performed, and they were told their children had multiple cavities that had suddenly popped up - and they were quoted between hundreds and thousands for restorative work. Then, when they went elsewhere to get a second opinion, every single one reported that their child had zero cavities. Once or twice can be an accident, an unclear x-ray (although it begs the question why you wouldn't take additional x-rays if something is unclear). But the sheer number of people who have been lied to in this community suggests that there is something else going on. His fraud with respect to the sealant was reason enough for me to switch, but in light of the experiences of others, I also asked our new dentist to check the x-rays to confirm the diagnosis. Our new dentist took new x-rays and showed them to me. No cavities. And finally, a note on the record-keeping at this office: When we decided to switch dentists, I requested a copy of our file to take to the new office. I specifically asked that nothing be withheld, including our previous dentist's files, which had been sent to Dr. Suh's office three times (I know because I had to act as go-between), and of which Dr. Suh himself had confirmed receipt. He had even commented on some notes contained in those files, indicating that his office had not only received the files but that he had also reviewed them. When I went to pick up our files, his wife suddenly claimed that she didn't have any files from our Westside dentist and that I would have to get them from his office. I pressed her on it, and she insisted that she couldn't find any files from our previous dentist. This means one of two things: (1) Dr. Suh's office does not maintain good records, misplaces records, or is otherwise deficient with respect to record-keeping (which you can imagine very easily could pose an issue); or (2) Dr. Suh's office was just hard-timing me because I wasn't going to remain with them, and pay the hundreds they were asking for work that didn't need to be done. Neither is acceptable. And both of them are bad news for any patient. Don't go to this guy. I don't know what's going on there, but it's not good. EDIT: I can't reply to Dr. Suh's comment below, but it is the opposite of what others have told me, including HIS OWN OFFICE, our Westside dentist, our current dentist, and x-rays. I appreciate that he wants to do damage control, but the facts speak for themselves. read more
