I have used Flip Flop Pool Service off and on for more than 15 years, and he used to be pretty good. But I agree with recent postings that Steve goes MIA frequently, even more these days than in the past. It is especially frustrating when he is paid in full for his services, but drags his feet to correct faulty work/installation. Recently, Steve at Flip Flop has gone missing. Not returning phone calls, text or emails. Very concerning but even if his business got derailed you'd think he would have the courtesy to return a phone message to a 3 year loyal customer. Looking at some reviews it looks like he purges customers when he loses a pool guy. You'd think he would operate more like a business than a surf dude at his age. I have been doing my own service for 3 weeks just hoping he would have the decency to call me...but nothing. I am also going to let the BBB know. BUYER BEWARE. read more

With a name like Flip Flop pool service, how can you go wrong? I recently contacted Steve, the owner, about my not so healthy looking pool, that had been giving me problems, and on very short notice he got me a same day appointment. The first thing I noticed about Steve was his great customer service, he listened to my concerns and then offered me his suggestions. It was obvious this guy knew what he was talking about. One hour after letting him work his magic, my pool was up and running! There's no doubt I have found my regular pool guy. Flip Flop Pool lives to its name. A total flop. A service charge for making bad adjustments on our pump which now runs longer than before using more energy. He even turned solar off which was stupid. I would recommend not going with this flop service company. read more

Worst pool service ever. Incompetent and unresponsive. They had a 3 different guys to "service" my salt water pool. They obviously never communicated to each other. I noticed they kept putting large amounts of chlorine in my pool (salt water) not knowing the previous person had to. I asked each of the guys why and they each answered not to worry it was a one time thing, not realizing it was 3 weeks in a row that I noticed. They each said they'd let the owner (Steve) know and either didn't or he did not care to respond. I'd had enough when my pool was green. I tried contacting the owner (Steve) several times by phone, text, and email. This was not the first that it would take 2-3 weeks of multiple attempts before a phone call back. He sucks at responding, even when a text message says it was read. They still owe me money as I paid for a month of which I got one week of pool cleaning. I booked my consultation appointment with the owner who was willing to accommodate my crazy schedule in any way he could. I was utterly shocked by his pristine professionalism. My house is a tracked home built in the 70's and my pool has seen better days. He completely overhauled my backyard into a gorgeous oasis. The upgrades esthetically surrounding the pool are amazing! The best part about it is he cared about my wants, needs and desires. Upon the finish of my consultation there was a complete road map of the game plan. His knowledge of the proper care of the pool. Added bonus he fixed my old dead water fountain! I now have a properly maintained fountain and pool! I HIGHLY recommend this company to everyone whom has pools and fountains! I called Steve because I am new to pools and wanted to be oriented to our new pool. Steve was responsive, very knowledgeable and so helpful. He came to our new house and went through all features of the pool and explained exactly what I need to do and have to maintain the pool. I called to have my pool looked as we were going to be renting our home and needed maintenance. I spoke to the owner and at first he discussed that he would not service if the cover was on...the first sign. After going out to the house, he said pump was cracked (and indeed it was) and he needed to change out. After he spoke to me about it, I asked that he call my husband. Not even a call back - but he did manage to call and panic to my tennants related to a nonworking pump. We had another company come out and replace the pump - totally unprofessional and I would NEVER recommend. read more

This pool service cannot be beat! Reasonably priced with outstanding, consistent customer service. We have even called on the weekend with a concern and we were immediately assisted. Our pool is only 5 years old, but had some very bad calcium build up. Another service attempted to remove it and literally gave up. I was considering re-tiling, but then Steve came along and cleaned it to look like new. He also did an acid wash of the entire pool and sealing of the tile to prevent future build up. We could not be happier with the weekly service or the specialized cleaning. Highly recommend! read more

I found Steve thanks to other great reviews on Yelp and so glad I did! We recently bought a house and have a non-working/leaking fountain. Steve was prompt in his call back and messages. He suggested ways to make maintenance easy and helped us to get it back up and running. It continues to have some issues with leaking (previous homeowners did some funky things to build it so not straightforward or intuitive), and Steve has been wonderfully responsive in continuing to help troubleshoot and resolve it. One of these days we will also get a pool and hot tub and Steve will be the first person we call! read more
