I met Chuck today, the owner. He was very patient, through and honest with me. He came to my home and inspected my pool and tested a few spots with acid wash. He gave me his honest opinion and steered me away from new plaster or repair since he did not think I would be happy with the long term results. I was really impressed with his honesty and advice. He gave me suggestions on replumbing the pool equipment which I will speak to my husband about before proceeding. One of Del Rancho's Technicians came by my house today and decided that he could not wait until he got to the proper facilities to relieve himself. He opted to do it on some tools and a rag near the corner of my house. What is worse is that he saturated a rag that was on the ground and left it the for me or my wife to pick up unknowingly. To top it all off, when I caught the guy at the curb he tried to deny it until I told him he was on video. Del Rancho owner Dan Braun and Service Manager Kevin Gault decided to not do anything about it. I have been with them for a long time and this is how Del Rancho treats their customers. I understand this was a act by one of their employee/contractors but no responsibility was taken. So if you want to be urinated on then Del Rancho is your place. Chuck Grosse recently completed a pool remodel due to a leaking diving rock that was installed 20 years ago below the water line and a section of hardscape that had been sinking at the pool's edge over the years. Del Rancho removed the diving rock and failing hardscape and rebuilt the pool edge and created a rose garden where the hardscape had been. The resulting project looks like the pool was designed like this from the beginning! Chuck and his team showed attention to detail and had excellent craftsmanship. Chuck was easy to work with and combined his extensive pool design knowledge with a professional demeanor. We had Del Rancho Pool for years. They were good for the most part but they upped their prices significantly in the last year. Yes, I know everyone is doing this but they weren't the cheapest to begin with. Perhaps this is because they have to pay for a storefront. Recently I asked if we could change days because my gardeners come the day after the pool service and the pool gets stuff blown into it. Kevin the manager mansplained me to death. He said to tell the gardeners not to do that and that it wasn't fair to the tech... whah whah whah. His attitude was to try to make me feel bad and to basically deal with it. Well, I did. I found someone else that was willing to work with the right day of the week. When I called to cancel my service with DRP, the person answering was surprised that I was canceling because we weren't known as a "problem account".... whatever that meant. I explained that the manager Kevin didn't seem interested in working with us and that we found someone else. This person admitted that the manager Kevin was known to have a "salty" attitude. Reading other reviews, it seems that the manager has a reputation. Bottom line: There are better businesses out there for your pool service and cheaper too. read more

After 17 years of being a loyal customer the new service manager without logical reason doubled our weekly rate. Mike was a great, customer forward service manager. Since his replacement Kevin took over, the communication and the pool cleaning service greatly deteriorated. It's disappointing but couldn't believe how much he was suggesting we pay. Our new pool cleaning company is amazing and we already see a huge improvement in our pool after just 2 weeks. I contacted to owner to ask for a referral. He has a blog about building pools in Mexico as if he is a person to get to help build a pool in Baja area. He referred me to someone he worked with once. The guy ripped me off and has set me back on my project to the point where I can't move forward with anything. It's better to say no then to refer a bad person. Then to make it worse when I called to ask him about Steve Kipping he said it was my problem for hiring him. Not even nothing to say I'm sorry or maybe I shouldn't have referred him. He also called him and complained that I left a bad review. Maybe if he hadn't done all of that at least he wouldn't have also stood my money. OMG where do I start? We moved down here about a year ago. Hubby has been doing the pool cleaning to save a little money and keeps having different problems SO the hubby started calling around for a pool service company. He told me one day that a guy came out to give us a price on pool cleaning in house shoes. Really weird but whatever, he just did not hire that guy, NEXT. Next, hubby still having trouble finding someone and so he asked if I would bring some water to a local pool store for analysis. Sure, OK, I get to this store and what is the first thing ? A guy in HOUSE SHOES with his whole finger in his mouth, looking like he just rolled out of bed. I turned and walked away. There can't be two pool guys in house shoes, can there? Since it was Sunday, I fully expected to have to wait a couple of days for a reply. However, six minutes later, Chuck replied and asked me to contact him (via phone). During our telephone conversation, Chuck spent more than 10 minutes explaining the options I had to resolve my issue. The amazing thing was that none of the options he provided would produce any revenue for his company. It's not often that businesses offer free advice that makes so much sense, so I was extremely impressed. read more

Don't use them. Always someone different, they forget to pass the gate key to the workers and many weeks we don't get cleaned but still charged. Extremely nasty manager, Kevin, to deal with even when they are in the wrong. They can't keep their books straight and always double bill us and then get rude and abusive about it. I clean and maintain my pool myself. The shaft seal on my pool pump motor went bad one day with water spilling out in all direction. I needed the shaft seal replaced. So I called around all the major pool service shops including the big national chain, but to no avail. They did not even know what I was talking about. Instead they all tried to sell me a whole new pump that would cost hundreds of dollars. It seems that when those stores advertised their repair service, they only meant replacing service. I went ahead and bought a shaft seal for $25 and attempted to replace it myself. It all went very smoothly until I encountered the step to remove the impeller, which I had no way of doing. Out of desperation, I happened to call Del Rancho Pool & Spa to see if they could remove the impeller for me. The gentlemen who answered my call knew exactly what I was trying to do, and to my delight said they would be able to remove the impeller for me. I showed up at their store with the motor half dissembled and the last hope of fixing the pump without paying big bucks to replace the whole pump. The gentleman who worked there immediately went to work on my motor. Apparently removing the impeller required special tools and quite a lot of labor, because it took two guys in the store over 20 minutes to have it done. I was so happy when they handed me the motor with the impeller lying apart from it and was more than happy to pay for their service. But they refused to accept payment for it, saying they usually don't charge anything for this type of work. The rest of the repair was easy once the impeller was removed. I brought the motor home, replaced the shaft seal, reassembled the pump motor to the pump wet end and turned on the power. Voila, the pump sprang right back into action. That was a year ago. My pool pump has been working nicely ever since then. Not only I got to repair my pool pump at a mere cost of $25, I got to keep using the same pump motor instead of throwing it away and thus creating more junk for mother earth, thanks to the nice and extremely knowledgeable professionals at Del Rancho Pool & Spa. read more

So we live in Florida and I was searching online for some ideas to help us deal with a crazy pointy corner we have to deal with in our pool remodel. I found a similar corner condition on Chuck's website. I took a chance and emailed him to see if he had any ideas for us not expecting any response. BUT HE EMAILED ME! Right away even. WHAT? And knowing that we're already doing our pool and that we wouldn't be a potential customer he still answered my question. I didn't think anyone did that kind of thing anymore. I have a 360 degree infinity knife edge pool at my house that has been leaking thousands of gallons of water and I needed to do something about the leak fast. The builder who did my pool years ago disappeared and is known for shoddy work. Multiple leak detectors said they could not locate the leak without ripping up concrete. I talked to several pool construction/leak repair companies who said they would have to change the design of the pool completely in order to fix the leak. People in my network mentioned Chuck Grosse @ Del Rancho Pools for construction work and spoke *very* highly of his integrity and high end pool knowledge so I decided to give him a call. Already having a good impression of Chuck, it only got better when I talked to him and I knew right away he was the guy I should go with. Chuck needed to get creative because the builder did something very dumb in that they did not install a proper "curb" for drainage in the infinite edge channel all the way around the perimeter of the entire pool. Chuck came up with a very creative and cost effective solution by installing a sealed waterproof barrier to keep the water flowing properly into the plumbing. Now that the leak is fixed and my water bill is back to normal I want to thank Chuck and everyone at Del Rancho pool for resolving the leak and keeping the pool with the same beautiful look. They get 8 stars as the owners is seemingly a blessed soul. My good friend was at the donuts shop with his adorable 3 year old daughter when it was realized they only took cash, not card. The owner of this pool company stepped right up and offered to pay for the donuts so this little girl could have her treat. So many others would of been annoyed at a crying kid as this world has become a bit hard of late, but this gentlemen showed great caring and compassion to this situation and that says a LOT about someone. I was so thoroughly impressed with Del Rancho Pool and Spa's Employee Chuck. We recently built a pool through San Diego Dream Pools (NEVER EVER USE!) and they left us hanging dry without teaching us how to use our pool equipment. We had a kids birthday party that weekend that we were so excited to use the pool for...but wanted to heat it up a bit. Not knowing how to do it, we asked our pool safety fence guy who then his friend Chuck to ask how to heat the pool. He could have easily told him over the phone...but instead came out to our house within 15 min of calling and thoroughly went through the whole pool equipment with me and taught me everything I needed to know. He spent his time showing me all of this on his way home from work...and didn't charge me a dime. We are now using the same company (different department/person) for our weekly pool service.
