Imagine my disappointment when I returned home to Richmond, Va and found I had taken two right flip flops to the counter to purchase. I called the next day and Ann could not have been nicer about shipping me my left flip flop - and overnight at that! The owner of this store is named Billie, but Jean us not her lover....okay, ever since Billie sang a small portion of that song, it got stuck in my head. I don't know how many times I have been in this store, but come this September, this store will be closing its doors forever. The Coronavirus outbreak really put things in perspective for Billie and will close some time in September. So "Try to remember the kind of September When life was slow and oh, so mellow. Try to remember the kind of September When grass was green and grain so yellow." If you do remember this place after September, it will be in memories...yes all your troubles will be do far away. No shadows hanging over you... Okay, my mind is going in all different directions. Billie has a good store here and a fun crewmembers. It is a shame the store will be closing its doors this year, but Billie does sell cool clothing and other accessories. I enjoyed our talk with Billie. We had picked up a shirt that we were going to buy and she came up behind and took it and then continued to speak rudely. We were surprised with that reaction so we left. My friends later went back in to ask why they were treated that way and she denied it (very rudely) and then went on to say that "wouldnt be the first time i've caught someone", to clarify we were wearing tank tops and jean shorts and were absolutely not trying to steal...if she thinks that she can rewind the tapes. It was just so rude.

I have visited all of the locations including most recently, the Duck store. Like the flagship store in Jarvisburg and the other locations, the Duck location is a multi-level maze of little rooms full of fun stuff. When I was a kid I remember The Cotton Gin having lots of boring cotton stuff - bedspreads, runners, placemats, towels and such. As an adult, I appreciate all of the nice quality cotton products they carry and I love shopping the other merchandise they carry. The Cotton Gin carries a fun variety of stuff from clothing, housewares, ornaments, home decor, souvenirs, jewelry and such. Its rare that I leave empty handed and even my husband likes shopping here! When I visit the Duck store in April the employee working was super friendly and welcoming which I really appreciated!
