Pizza tastes just like any other pizza and and hour long wait for cheese pizza is inexcusable. Not to mention my husband was left on hold for 15 min and had to call back to even place the order. Won't waste my time again. Pizza on it own would have gotten 3-4 stars but the service was terrible. Employees were rude to my husband on the phone and couldn't care less about the excessive wait time and were annoyed when I got up to ask an hour later. We received a gift card to Flippin' Pizza recently and, after a long day of moving into a new home, decided to give it a try having never been there. They did not disappoint. We ordered a simple pepperoni pizza. Their pizzas come in one size consisting of 8 large NY-style slices. It was delicious! Great NY style pizza. Tried the Brooklyn with sliced meatballs on it and it was very yummy. My son had the kid's meal which is a bargain for one slice and a drink. I like the thin crust. This place simply does not get it! The pizza is sooooooo dry, with the bare minimum of toppings and sauce. The pizza has next to no flavor due to the lack of ingredients used. The product is 100% overpriced, borderline a rip-off for what you get. This place is your typical California empty nest owner (Jason) who refuses to make changes when he receives feedback from his customers and lets a bunch of kids run his shop while he is off doing other things. The employees are confused and the product is inconsistent depending on who is making your food. All this is a recipe for one star on Yelp and a dying repeat customer base. One of my favorite delivery places in Encinitas. Chewy, authentic East Coast thin crust pizza served quick and piping hot. I always ask that they cook mine well done for that extra bit of crispiness. My dogs and I will polish off a large one and two days. That's right, my dogs love it too. One pizza will easily serve three adults, maybe four if someone is on a very strict diet. The garlic knots are very good and they don't cheat you on the garlic, so consider this if you're inviting someone over for date night with pizza and a movie. So many other local places deliver sloppy, greasy lukewarm pies but Flippin' is never too greasy. The only downside is that because it is so good, Flippin' is pretty busy on weekends and during football games, so delivery times can be 45 minutes to an hour. Plan accordingly and enjoy! read more

My fiancee and I stopped by Flippin Pizza for a quick dinner the other night. It's close to our house and they advertise a special for 2 slices and a drink for $6. We weren't starving so we simply decided to split it. The deal itself isn't bad, nor is the pizza. I wasn't overwhelmed by the pizza itself but it wasn't bad either, just somewhere in the average realm. They did have some other items (garlic knots and some sort of croisant thing) that looked good but we didn't try them. The location itself was fairly plain and straightforward, again not displeasing but thoroughly non-descript. Prices for entire pizzas seemed $2ish more than bigger chains but certainly in the ballpark of other local joints. Overall not a bad place but it doesn't rank up at the top of my favorite places to grab a slice. read more

I thought this place was pretty good. The crust was nice and thin and not too greasy. But my pizza could have used more toppings as well as sauce and cheese. I wasn't really a fan of the meatballs on the pizza and that seemed to be most of what my toppings ended up being. I would definately give it another shot and I am interested in trying one of their white pies. They looked great on the display. The garlic knots were good but there were only a few in the order. My sister, mom, and I were fighting over them. Our salad was on the sad side...and their house dressing was very oily. Once we doctored it up and poured out 2/3s of the oil, it wasn't bad. read more

The pizza is good for take out. The two times we've been here however, the vibe is so negative. It seems that the staff is always bickering with each other and while I tried hard not to care, it's out in the open and it's just awkward. "Vibe" or ambiance may not be a big deal to some customers whose goals are to stuff their faces with pizza -- but the environment in which I'm consuming my food also matters to me. This is pretty decent New York style pizza. The crust is nice and thin without that blast of sweetness that everyone else seems to like to add to their crusts around here (what's up with that?). The toppings are simple and tasty--nothing fancy or too gourmet, but it's real cheese, real sausage, etc. They do what they do well. This place probably deserves more of a 3 1/2 star kind of rating, but I'm giving Flippin' four stars because after living in Encinitas for the past fifteen years I'm just THRILLED to have pizza I'll actually eat. The crust, which is made from hand-made dough ( with no HFCS or oil!) hand-tossed by masters at their craft! The sauce, flavorful and savory signature sauce made daily! Went in for lunch with my wife and two kids around 3pm. Only one employee working (Christian) and he managed the floor like a pro. He helped us and about 8 other people while answering the phone and making new pizzas. It's hard to find someone that's genuine and really likes interactions with customers. Yeah, another 4-star review for Flippin Pizza. They should be proud. I am stingy with stars when it comes to pie. This chain keeps it simple and manages to still feel kinda local despite having a Dubai location and about a dozen in SD County. They do straightforward and anatomically correct NY Style Pizza and serve a small and perfunctory menu of other Italian dishes that I'd bet no one ever orders. I didn't try the garlic rolls but they looked bomb. I doubt this place will ever achieve a fifth star despite their kind and competent employees, they just don't use the same quality of ingredients as the top places. But for what they do, Flippin PIzza does it well and if you don't like their pie, go next door and get an order of pão de queijo at Sabor de Vida! read more

I was on crutches and called in 45 minutes in advance to get to go order before an afternoon meeting and was on time schedule. called early and asked what time I needed to order to fit my schedule. i was informed by Houston that a 45 minute time frame would accomplish my goal. Called in at 3:25 PM to order and confirm order pick up. When I arrived at 4:10 no one acknowledged i called at 4:15 advised here and waiting(added 5.00 tip to order) at 4:20 (running late) I was informed the printer didn't work and it would be another 5-10 minutes before order would be ready. I asked to cancel order not charge or refund $$$. Card was charged that was 5/23/19. as of 6/3/19 no refund. Horrible service no apology and no refund. read more
