I love Bongiorno's quaint, small-town atmosphere. It's cozy sitting outside at their little porch. Their pizza is really good, good variety (though they don't vary), and I like their blue cheese dressing. The only problem is their inflated prices. Pizza is $4.50 per slice and their iceberg lettuce house salad is $9.00. Sorry, but $18+ for two slices of pizza and a bed of iceberg lettuce with some cherry tomatoes is just not right. A few suggestions (other than more reasonable prices): pay attention to dine in vs. to go. Offer different types of pizza every once in a while, or offer seasonal. Turn the music down a bit, off would do too. read more

Delicious and clean pizza place where you can enjoy both pizza by the slice or a whole pie. The prices are reasonable and there is ample seating (both indoor and outdoor) to enjoy your food. The staff is super friendly and attentive, welcoming you in as soon as you walk in. The pizzas in the display case don't have labels so the staff is helpful in answering questions about the ingredients. Tried a slice of the Rosso and a slice of the Verde. Both were so delicious! Delicious pizza and reheats well in the air fryer since the drive from Del Mar is farther for us. We usually will order and then eat a little while later so we love their pizza keeps and reheats well. Can't say much about the service and ambiance since we've only done takeout but I will say their toppings are top notch! Paid by Google Pay. Bongiorno's is located in a plaza and offers a lot of plaza parking. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and friendly cashiers. I went on a Saturday for lunch and didn't have to wait to order. I ordered 2 slices of cheese with bacon and 2 Hawaiian slices. Be prepared for a small parking lot for this shopping center, we regularly have to park on the main street. The staff is always friendly enough but you don't go here for the customer service, it's all about that pizza. They always have some great options for slices, ready to go. Our favorites are the buffalo chicken, "crime scene", artichoke, pesto and basic pepperoni. Something about their dough, it's crispy but chewy at the same time, with amazing flavor. Their garlic knots are elite and don't forget their homemade ranch dressing. Excellent location. Fantastic views. Very large, New York style pizza slices with a wide variety of toppings available to you. Their two slices and a soda is only around $11 - considering there's a place in downtown San Diego that's charging $25 for the same thing, I'm calling it a great deal. The service is very friendly - I did catch them during a football game, so they were a touch distracted at times, but I think that's to be expected. Singing Angels greeted me! What a great find, here for work and had time to kill, Thank You yelp! Excellent slice and a salad much bigger than I could eat. Excellent homemade dressings I tried the blue cheese and a little oil & vinegar both were delicious. Quality ingredients for sure. Lots of regulars in and out. Super clean and there must be about 10 patio tables cause that's how we do it in San Diego. Inside seating available too. Sweet little lady picking up meatballs for company says the meatballs are just like her moms! Next time I'll grab some for a meatball sub! One of my favorite slices of pizza in SD county! They do whole pies, pizza by the slice, strombolis, pasta, wings etc! So there is something for everyone. The prices are fairly reasonable as well - they have a lunch combo with 2 slices and a drink for about $10 which is a great deal these days. On my most recent visit I ordered a slice of their Pepperoni & Sausage pizza and it was delicious! I also saw their pile of garlic knots and had to get one of those as well. They heat everything back up for you when you order. Pizza had a nice crisp to it and the flavors were on point. Service is friendly and quick as well! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We've been going more to Buonasera (their sister restaurant in Del Mar) lately, because there's more seating and an ocean view. But they still have the same amazing food here we've enjoyed since they first opened & brought real NY pizza to North County. I went last night to a buzzy Italian bistro in Hillcrest. Food was not even close to the eggplant parm here. And the fantastic Italian roll that the eggplant sub comes on... perfection! Prices are so reasonable too. Bongiorno's & Buonosera still have the best NY pizza in these parts, plus other great choices like the ENORMOUS, delicious, eggplant parm subs. Had to be nearby to set up for a trade show and was early, so I searched for pizza on Yelp and Bongiornos was popped up and had very good reviews. After checking out the large variety of pies they had available as slices I was disappointed that there was not a classic white pie available. I wanted a cheese slice and a white slice. So, there was a white with spinach which I selected along with a classic cheese slice. My dream team for NY style pizza pies. The combo was 2 slices and a drink for $10.75. Damn good price these days. They took my request and popped the slices in the pizza oven. A couple of minutes later my slices were ready. They have some grated Parm and garlic salt in shakers on the counter. Also, I grabbed a little packet of crushed red pepper. Perfect for my cheese slice. The cheese slice was, well, a slice of cheese pizza. It was not as hot as I had expected and no chance of burning the roof of my mouth. Dang! It was OK. Small for a "slice of NY cheese pie" and not as greasy. Good greasy, that's what I'm talkin' about. The sauce was kind of bland. It was very thin, which is good. I would order a slice with sausage or pepperoni if I came back. Give it a chance of having more flavor. As is, a disappointing slice of cheese pizza. On to the white spinach slice. Again, not as hot as I expected. This slice had more character. It was tasty and the ricotta was delicious. As with the previous, the slice was not like a large NY slice like I would expect. If I'm back in the area and wanted pizza, I would try it again. If I was local I would try a couple times to gauge the overall quality. If I came back I would do the three slice combo since the slices are on the smaller side. Go. Try some decent pizza. HAVE FUN!! p.s. not really in control of the restaurant, the parking kinda stinks. I have a full size pick up and it was a fun challenge to back in so I could more easily get out. Not sure if there is alternate or street parking but I would look for that next time. read more

Came here on a Saturday night . Good food and nice selections of combos with a decent selection of draft beers. What a complete crap show sadly where they can't figure out a system of giving orders in priority of first come first serve. There was a lot of mixtures between dine in and DoorDash orders . However I had a dine in order where other dine in couples were being served who arrived after me. All we ordered were pizza by slices and they got the very pizzas I was waiting 15 mins for. I literally had to go to the counter to get their attention and expressed my dissatisfaction about this . How difficult is it to heat up pizza in order for your in dine folks? Honestly I am really picky and particularly with my pizzas. I use to work at a pizzeria and have high standards. Today I went in getting a pesto cheese pizza, pepperoni and basil, pepperoni and bacon. I got a combo with a drink and it was approximately $14 very great deal for the quality and I'm very content with what I got and the customer service was great! I was immediately help and the servers and cooks are so nice ! The indoor section was clean and well kept alone with the bathroom! The staff is super nice and very welcoming while also allowing for a fast and prompt service. Their house salad with their house dressing is a family staple. My best trick is to get a catering side for work events and it feeds many people at a decent price. Parking can be a challenge as it is in the same shopping area as other busy merchants.
