Went with my sister and niece for 80 minutes massages. We were waiting in the upstairs lounge area by the fire and were having a conversation - like normal people do. And a massage therapist comes out from a door by the fireplace. She then proceeds to give us "dirty" looks and puts her finger to her mouth shushing us. First of all, we aren't 3rd graders - no need to shush us - you can speak to us like adults. Secondly, if there was a "sign" that indicated that this was a "quiet" sitting area, we would have obligated. So, with that said, I hope that they would change up their signage and teach their therapist to communicate like adults. This little building holds a big surprise-a beautiful day spa with gracious service and a luxury experience of relaxation and care. From the minute I booked our day, we were treated extremely well. On arrival we were ushered in, made comfortable in a beautiful waiting room with a fire, and then experienced a range of pampering treatments. The facial was amazing, and included handwarmers and gentle foot massage. The deep tissue massage could've been a bit deeper, but still left me feeling well cared for and relaxed. I heard other patrons talking about how amazing their hot stone massages were-so that will be on the menu for me next time!! The front of the building where Float is looks entirely unremarkable. I wanted to treat my boyfriend and myself to something nice and relaxing. We've never gotten couples massages before, so I thought this could be a nice treat for us. I arranged for a couples massage and a facial for him. The spa itself is very cute and cozy. We were greeted by 2 massage therapists who showed us in a private room with dimmed lighting and candles. As far as the massage goes.... Although my massage therapist was a very nice woman, this review is strictly about the massage that I received. The entire time, I was puzzled whether I was receiving a massage or just a soft pat down. There was no pressure applied, there was no actual rubbing or working the "knots" ... she would stroke my body part for a minute and then walk around the massage table to get some more lotion which would take 2 minutes for her to do that while leaving me pondering "what the heck is this?". In fact... the ENTIRE time, her hands never got warm...every single time she touched me, her hands were freezing. Not very pleasant. Then she wrapped my feet in hot towels and held my shoulders for a few minutes.... And that's that! Let's be frank here... this was NOT a massage... I have no idea what this was. Apparently my boyfriend received the same treatment from his massage therapist. We had a good laugh about this. Regarding the facial... I wasn't in the room, so I can't judge how the facial went. But he wasn't able to form an opinion about it, since he's never gotten one before. The esthetician did not explain to him what she was doing... thus it makes me think it wasn't a great facial. The prices were on a high side. 50 minutes couples massage and 25 minute facial: $300+ . Now, I don't mind spending money on pampering and such.. but I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the service at Float Spa... i felt as if i just thew that money away. A group of friends and I stayed in Santa Barbara and booked services for all of us last minute here. Float (especially Natalie) was so accommodating and despite the last minute request to fit six different people in for services, they were flexible and worked with us to find time for all of us to have massages and facials. Everyone in my group was extremely satisfied with the service they received. I had a fabulous facial from Tatiana. She is extremely knowledgeable, lovely to chat with, and gave an amazing facial massage. My friend also had a facial from Tatiana and gave her rave reviews. I also had a massage with David who was incredible- very friendly, made me feel very comfortable and the deep massage was the perfect amount of pressure and attention to the areas I asked him to focus on. My friends had massages with Derrick and Eric and were very happy with the massages they received. In addition to the great service, Float adhered to COVID protocols and the spa felt very clean, well-kept, and peaceful. Overall, I can't recommend Float more. I can't believe how much they bent over backward to accommodate all of us, and based on that alone I would have given five stars, but the massages and facials all lived up to our highest expectations. read more

Unfortunately I did not love my experience and would not recommend the facial for sensitive skin. I don't usually write negative reviews and low maintenance when it comes to spas (any relaxation is heaven for me!) but I hope my review is helpful for those on the fence/going in for a particular issue. I went in with some irritation / sunburn and thought it would be a soothing facial per their description online. When I arrived, the esthetician was super kind but didn't ask about any of my concerns so I assumed she had everything in front of her. Two things seemed pretty off for a sensitive skin facial: the cleanser used was strongly scented (it could have been natural but again, I knew nothing about any of the products used) and she used a physical exfoliant that felt like those St Ives walnut scrubs. Usually when I go into sensitive skin facials, rule number one is only use a gentle natural "chemical" (liquid/enzyme) exfoliant. Also they usually offer sunscreen after the facial since you just scrubbed a couple layers off, but that didn't happen here despite it being an early morning facial (i guess a plus side of covid is I had a face mask to cover?!) My skin has been pretty irritated since. There was also no extractions done, though that could be omitted from the sensitive skin routine? Again I have no idea what was used or done. I also added on a scalp massage and told three people: the women who made my reservation over the phone, the front desk when I checked in and my esthetician. At no point did they remind me that I couldn't shower after and that I might want to reconsider. Totally appreciate them wanting to be safe during COVID and they mentioned the no shower thing on their website but it would have been cool if someone brought it up because I spent the rest of the day with a super oily head. My sense is that this is an amazing place for massages and relaxation but this felt more like a chain spa and not a skin spa with real expertise. On the plus side, the facilities seem awesome and relaxing and the staff was really nice. The esthetician gave me an amazing neck and arm massage. I wouldn't mind coming back post-covid for a massage. read more

Scheduled a deep tissue massage here right before Christmas to help remove some of the holiday season tension. Was greeted with a friendly smile and really enjoyed the sitting room with the fireplace. My massage was great but not as relaxing as I hoped. I found the room and massage cream to be a little to cool to really relax. I also was disappointed in the cool in temperature locker room which was not extremely inviting. All though there were products to use; what I really needed was hairspray to somewhat manage my hair after my massage. The hairspray bottle did not work; when I mentioned it to the receptionist her response was "Oh that still isn't working, we have been having trouble with that". No movement to correct the problem though. I did not give 5 stars because for a place that's on the higher end pricing the quality wasn't there. read more

The masseurs were excellent (asking what level of chat you want beforehand is a stroke of genius), and the rooms were well appointed with just the right amount of sound, scent and ambiance. Massage was great from Daniel, highly recommend him ! I had mellow mama, only thing I would suggest is to not be afraid to put pressure on a pregnant women. I think a lot of therapist hesitate, but pregnancy puts a lot of pain in your body and we need the extra pressure. I asked my therapist to provide more pressure and he did fantastic ! Thank you ! Very restful and zen- like. We especially enjoyed the back patio area with the reflecting pool and fountain. Took my friend here for her birthday and both of us definitely walked out of their knowing we'd recommend this place and come back ourselves. The women's locker room is small, only one toilet, shower, and a wall of lockers with robes and flip flops but very nice with scents and light music. The waiting area is very lovely with a fire place and comfy seating. Complimentary teas, water, and snacks (trail mix, dried fruit, chocolate). I got the Float Signature Massage and just upon laying down on the heated massage table was put in a great mood. All 50 minutes were very relaxing and worth the cost. I treated my friend to the Signature Facial and said it was too overall a great facial and experience. Although a higher cost than some spas in town it is well worth it. Amazing experience. I was visiting from Long Beach, CA and decided to give this spa a try. It exceeded my expectations. I got the Float 50 minute massage with an add on foot scrub. My masseuse Jasmine was kind, explained everything she was going to do and did exactly what I asked. You are warmly greeted as you walk in by the front desk staff. Our massages were fair, I've had much better ones and far more relaxing. When it came to get our facials we were told that these hadn't been scheduled as part of our service. I haven't been this relaxed in a very long time. Tanya's skillful hands and gentle energy added to the experience. She gave me a wonderful massage, using a lot of warm damp towels to enhance the sensations. I highly recommend the warm coconut scalp massage as an add on. Prepare to look like a grease head after so bring a hat. Even though I specified the add on in my order you have to tell your masseuse you requested it because it didn't seem to be communicated to her. My mom neglected to check with her masseuse about the add on she requested ahead of time and didn't receive it. I also recommend the foot reflexology (in addition to the massage). I don't think I got the full 25 minutes I paid for as it was left to the end, so make sure you specify you would like the full 25 minutes and what you might skip if she runs out of time. Especially since its's pricey. This was not at all like the aggressive foot reflexology you get in Chinatown in NYC. This was much more gentle and focused just on the pads not on the toes. Despite the limited time on that, she did spend time giving me a very gentle massage on my belly which I requested. The warm blanket over my belly at the end was divine. Overall, it was truly a deeply relaxing cathartic experience and I would highly recommend FLOAT and ask for Tanya! You will walk out of there feeling like you are FLOATING on air! read more

Although everyone was lovely and accommodating, the spa overall was disappointing in terms of facilities and mishaps. As a luxury spa, I would of enjoyed a better experience. There was only one shower in the locker rooms which made it very crowded. The massage was great but the noise from the outside made it hard to relax. They also made a mistake with my booking. I didn't receive my facial, but they did try and give me a complimentary service which I appreciated and compression boots + sparkling wine. I had a massage today that was the easiest best massage I have had in my life. Daniel not only is a very friendly and welcoming but he knows what he is doing. I work at a computer all day and my neck is wrecked. He was able to get all of my knots out and additionally it never hurt and felt so good!!
