I came here for a float during my solo childfree weekend and it was a really great idea. Parking can be challenging around this area, but I found a spot right outside on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't know what to expect from the float at all. If anything, I was intimidated by the idea of going into a dark capsule naked. The idea seemed claustrophobic but I quickly got over that. The location is clean and the instructions are clear although I did forget to put in my earplugs before showering... Clean, well-maintained location, great staff, pleasant experience throughout. Comfortable waiting sofa, clean washroom. Float tank room is spacious, well-maintained, and everything you need is provided - soap, shampoo, conditioner, ear plugs, face cloth and towel. They've really thought this through for an easy experience. The float tank is large enough for someone 6'3" and completely dark, and quieter than other float tanks I've been in. I've been going to Float Seattle for several years now. It always feels like my date with the Universe (or God or whatever word suits you). Meditating has never come easily for me, but in these float tanks it's a whole different story. I go to Greenwood, Greenlake, and the near downtown location, whichever is most convenient. They are extremely clean, the atmosphere at all 3 is quite ambient, and the staff always welcoming. The recently upgraded tanks at Greenlake are awesome. I recently returned to floating after a long absence and can't figure out why I ever stopped! The most common questions I get about it are: isn't it claustrophobic and what do you do for an hour? 1. The tanks are actually quite large. You might find yourself more attracted to the fancy orb, which are less slippery getting in and out, and give more lateral room to rotate while floating. I prefer the old school tanks because it seems like I remain a bit more static in the tank. The folks at Float do a wonderful job of orienting you to the experience and giving tips for adjusting to sensory deprivation. If you have concerns, ask about them. And, 2. Relax! We're so overloaded with stimuli these days; I can understand how it's daunting to imagine being without 1,001 things to distract you. But, that's the point. And, just like meditation, yoga, or other methods of mindfulness, it's a practice - your experience will evolve over time. The conditions at Float really help me disconnect from all the distractions and focus on where I'm storing stress and releasing it. Since returning, I'm finding it easier to notice and release that stress outside of the tank, fall asleep faster, and sleep more soundly. My dreams have been pretty epic, too, which is super cool because I feel more connected to how I'm processing life events. Float facilities are clean, well-maintained, and peaceful. They're well-stocked with towels and body wash/shampoo/conditioner, and other amenities like face wipes and ear plugs. Oh, and head supports if you're worried about submerging. Float staff are die-hards and there to help you have the best experience possible - don't be shy about asking them questions/sharing your experience. The location was a bit tough to find street parking for, but inside was quite nice and the gentleman at the front was easy to work with. I've been going to this location for years, and throughout that time 2 things have been true. 1. The facilities are always clean. I've never walked into a room and felt like it was gross (e.g sticky floors, slimy floors, stains on the walls) or had any fowl smells (e.g. sweat, cleaner, waste). 2. The faculty have always been nice. This past weekend, a man named Dean was working and he was a pleasant person. Every person has been chill. The isolations tanks are clean and maintained well. I have heard very faint motorcycle noise in my last session, but I think the building does a good job at insulating outside noises. One of my sessions I believe I could hear my blood circulating. I don't think that's ever happened to me before. Parking can be a challenge around Greenlake, but usually I'm able to hunt for a spot. Overall, I think Float Greenwood is fantastic and would recommend anyone to try this location. It's where I tried my first session 5+ years ago and it is a location that has been maintained well throughout this time. I think that says a lot. read more

Great place and wonderful concept, this is one relaxing place. Quick run down, this is a float tank that provides sensory deprivation meaning you will float in a controlled environment tank that will be dark and soundless. It's quite relaxing and I would go again as it's a nice unplug from the world. The session lasts an hour. Pretty straightforward stuff for any rookie reading this. The float area itself is very nice, modernish type of private rooms with showers, soap, shampoo, towels, and a few other items for your convenience. It's a very nice facility overall that provides a lovey atmosphere. Google and check out a few things on this type of experience, I learned about it from a podcast and wanted to try it ever since. Sauna/float combo is the highlight of my week. If I miss a week or two- I can notice the tightness in my muscles, discomfort in my joints, and worsened mood. They were really flexible when I mistakenly booked the appointment for the wrong day and needed to reschedule it with less than 24 hour notice, and then again when we got there too early they were able to see me sooner than my scheduled appointment. I've tried floating twice and found it be a unique and pleasant experience both times. On this occasion I was looking for some activities to entertain my boyfriend with who is currently immobile and on crutches. He had previously been unwilling to try this even though I knew after my first experience that he would enjoy it. He was fearful of the confined space and LSD like experience, but knew this would be a good way to relax his leg and enjoy some quiet time. He conducted the research and choose this location over others due the variety of tubs available, he felt that the design of the ocean float room tank would meet his needs and allow him to get in and out easily. It's nice that this location has 3 styles of tubs available, I tried the oasis float room, but would definitely want to check out all 3 styles if I made multiple visits. He had some initial difficulty with the online booking, but was able to get help and resolve it fast. Customer service was pretty great. Everything was explained in great detail. I really appreciated the advice to float with your arms over your head. The person working was really welcoming and non threatening. We were provided info about pricing and membership, but no pressure. The music came on at the end of the session in a very relaxing way. The water temperature was perfect and I loved that the showers provide actual hot water. I love the quotes on wall in the waiting room, and enjoyed reading the journal entries after my own experience. We also scored free Sunday parking right out front. I'd definitely do it again and would love to live next door and able to go every time I had a stressful day. Its so nice to just be quiet and able to decompress, but I am a yoga lover too. I'd suggest trying it once even if you think you won't like it. I'm a member and big fan of Seattle float studios. I enjoy all their locations. I'm a seasoned floater and had a bad experience being cheated out of my contract by a different studio years back. Understandably, when I joined Seattle Float I was a little apprehensive about what to expect but the owners seem to carry wisdom and virtue in their approach to business. While I never expected it, I will likely be with them as long as I'm in the area. Ive seen improvements in health in the short time Ive been with them and I hope to introduce my son to floating to carry on the tradition. I live in Everett so it is a very long commute for me but the service I receive is worth it. Not only does the team make you feel valued but everyone is genuinely kind. It feels more like a community than a business; it's pretty much everything every float studio poses itself as! The things that make this place stand out to me: ownership, community, authenticity, customization/flexibility, water-temperature, tank options, infrared sauna add-on, customer service! Amazeballs! In the first 15 mins or so I had the hardest time getting adjusted in the tank, but after I found my comfort level and get beyond my heart beating - OMG I thought I left my body. I was so relaxed; it was as if I was sleeping in my bed on my back instead I'm floating and sleeping. I haven't been this relax since my last massage. Alex was amazing he walked me through the entire process both at the beginning and the end of the float, how to replenish my liquids and what food to eat, which I believe is so important to know. I'm glad I tried Float. The concept of voluntary 'sensory deprivation' would have been strange 20 years ago, but now in a world where we're constantly stimulated, the idea of not having stimuli for an hour sounded really appealing. So here's how this works: You sign up for one of their six (?) float rooms. They open early and stay open late. I recommend the Ocean-sounding room because you can stand upright to step into it (versus climbing into a low-to-the-ground NASA water pod that looks like something between Abyss and Passengers.) Arrive a few minutes before your time so you can get the rundown: Get nekkid, shower, get into the ultra-salty epsom salt water. Don't touch your eyes/face once your hands get into the salt water or else you will regret it. PRO-TIP, use the ear plugs. Do it. They have ear drops for you to use after you're done floatin' around but trust me, do both. The salt is merciless and takes no prisoners. I was a bit trepidatious when I saw the photos of what appeared to be dirty tanks. I checked my tank and the few dark spots I saw did not come off. All good. I carefully step inside and float on my back (it's slick; be careful.) So there I am. Floating like Ophelia. It's dark, quiet -- but not sound-proof. Minutes slowly ticked by: 2: Enjoy floating, hands raised little above my head, totally suspended 5: Wonder how long it's been. Get salt in my eye 10: Use towel to clean salt off. Stay as still as possible 15: Drift toward a side MUST REMAIN IN STASIS! 22: Realize I can't tell if my fingertips are above or below water. Coooool 37: Tummy starts to rumble. Hope nothing bad happens 38: Think about all the people who have potentially passed gas in the tank 39 - 55: Try not think about it 60: Music softly plays to rouse me from my daydreaming about gassiness I *carefully* get out to shower. Crisis averted. (They provide shampoo, conditioner, soap, and towels.) After we leave, I noticed my back wasn't as sore. NICE. Although I didn't wear the earplugs and have had water stuck in one of my ears for two weeks now (wear the plugs!), I will say that my experience here was great. The room is clean, the showers nice, and the experience... much better than I imagined. And, really what surprised me was that, after the session (during which I fell asleep for about half the time), I felt just as relaxed as after a good deep tissue massage. I was FLOORED by that, since really all I did was float for an hour. But, I guess when you relax all your muscles, and the water supports you exactly where you need to be supported like the most perfect bed, and you relax enough to actually sleep... you TRULY relax. And, when you're stuck with your thoughts and think them through with (almost) as much focus as you might when journaling, you get your sh!t out of your head -- and again, TRULY relax. I went to Float Seattle for my first float session ever. I'd heard a lot about it. You're in a dark tank for an hour alone in your thoughts. I was expecting forced meditation of sorts. I showed up to Float via Classpass. I felt welcomed. The whole idea of float sessions are to do things at your own pace. There were not a lot of instructions. Here are a few things I wish I knew: (1) Use the earplugs, if its your first time it sorta feels weird. I jumped into the tank and then hopped back out to put in ear plug (2) Use the floaty pillow/noodle, it helped me relax my head more. At least throw everything in the tank with you and if you use them great, if not at least you don't need to hop out of the tank, as this is really disruptive (3) Do not condition your hair before hopping in, no one told me this. I totally washed my hair with conditioner. I read the sign after, this is my miss. You'll be showering before and after the float session, do your deep conditioning after. All in all I liked my float session. Felt very safe, I didn't see another person almost the entire time I was there. read more

Here's a review of my first time doing a float session at the Float Seattle Green Lake location. In short - I liked it a lot. I wouldn't say it was entirely relaxing, but it was really enjoyable. The fellow at the front desk said that it usually takes people about three sessions to be able to actually learn how to relax in the pod. The longer version - When I got there, the front desk fellow welcomed me and walked me through the equipment and the rules. It's a pretty chill place but there are some important things to remember: The pods hold warm water into which half a ton of Epsom salts have been dissolved. Epsom salts aren't dangerous, but they can burn your eyes and any open scratches or cuts you may have. [Warning: TMI approaching] Also, super salty water isn't necessarily comfortable on your lady parts. It does sting a bit at first but goes away. And if you leave any body fluids in the pod, they'll penalize you by charging you a fine of between $200 to $1000, because they have to empty, disinfect, and then re-add 1000lbs of fresh salt. PEE BEFORE YOU GET IN!!! They provide everything you need. You get earplugs, make-up remover, q-tips, and Vaseline to cover up cuts or scratches. I showered and climbed into the pod. (The pods at the Green Lake location look more like the capsule of an Apollo space ship than some of the more modern pods. There is a small square door and you climb in. Most pods at their other locations open clamshell style.) Inside the pod, there is a light that you can turn off when you're ready. There is also a squirt bottle of distilled water to spray into your eyes if you get salt water into your eyes. The water felt oily and it was very slippery inside. You're so buoyant that you literally can't sink, nor can you accidentally flip over. (I tried!) I got goofy and splashed around like a little kid for while then settled into floating and trying to relax. So they call these things sensory deprivation chambers but really, it's more accurate to say that they're selective sensory enhancement pods. Your hearing gets very acute and you can hear everything your body is doing, your heartbeat, your breathing, your grumbling belly, and you hear the water moving. You can also hear the air being circulated through the pod to keep the air clean. Rather than becoming instantly relaxed, I'd say that I became very alert and aware of all the sounds. It took me a while to just let go and relax. At one point I just sat up and sat cross-legged in the water, which was pretty funny, because I was floating cross-legged. I have ADHD, so one thing that the floating did was make me acutely aware of just how loud my own racing thoughts are without constant distraction. I suspect it will take a few more sessions for me to learn to relax completely in the pod. [Also, all the moving around I did inside the pod means I got water in my eyes and my mouth. Gang, Epsom salts taste horrible. SERIOUSLY HORRIBLE.] When the hour was up, the lights came up and soft music started playing. That was my cue to get out of the pod. Welp, gang, it was not fun trying to get this fat wet naked chick OUT of the pod, because the inside of the pod is deeper than the floor. I slid all over the floor of the pod trying to get out but eventually made it. I think the modern pods are probably easier to get into and out of. Luckily, the floor was pebbled so I didn't slip once I got out of the pod. (I think they need a small step stool at the entrance to these pod; it would help a lot for those with mobility issues.) Then I showered again, removed the earplugs, dried off, and got dressed. As soon as I closed the pod door, a cleansing cycle started inside the pod, and ozone was pumped into the pod to disinfect the air. (It kills coronavirus.) When I stepped out of the room, the front desk clerk greeted me again, offered me tea, and suggested that I sit and relax on their leather sofa for a little while before heading out. He also told me I'd need to drink a lot of water, because even though you don't feel it, you lose a lot of moisture in the pod. What I liked best about the experience was that my back pain was completely gone after floating in that pod for an hour. You can really stretch your back and decompress your vertebrae. I was physically and mentally relaxed afterward and it's lasted all day. I slept like a baby. that night, too. I will definitely do it again. I booked two more sessions. Try it! read more

Tried the sauna and cold plunge room for the first time and loved it! The IR sauna got hotter than I expected, which was wonderful, and the plunge was plenty cold. The rooms are super roomy and have their own personal shower. Really liked the privacy of having the shower, sauna and plunge all in one private room. The staff was friendly too! read more

OK so I am officially not a float virgin anymore! It took me awhile to finally decide on trying it out, I had a lot of unknowns that bothered me, especially when it deals with laying nekkid in a dark confined water tank for an hour left with only my thoughts to entertain me. When I booked my appointment, I received a handy email telling me where to park and this was great since finding parking on my own seemed like a chore in this area. While I was waiting, the owner Sean was there and he was really laid back and friendly and we chatted for a bit before I went into the infamous isolation tank dun dun dunnnnn... I was explained in really good detail of what to do and what to expect and so I followed their instructions and everything worked out just fine. When in the tank, the first few minutes was for sure interesting, taking in the whole thing took me a little bit to process but then things just sort of passed on its own and I went into a really calm and relaxing state. It was seriously like I was sleeping but I knew I wasnt..if that makes ANY sense hahaha. I have to agree with a previous reviewer that I thought I heard music as well so I got out a little early but turned out to be the tank in the other room because my tank finally started playing music a few minutes later. I was worried I wouldn't hear the music when it was my time, but now I know they play it loud enough to wake you up if you fall asleep in there. I will for sure be back and I'm even more excited to try it now that I know what to expect. The people there are great and they are so laid back and easy to talk to, it was very welcoming. read more

FLOAT On Brothers and sisters.. Whoa, tried floating and I am a fan so far! I am a person with a very busy mind, full of worries and monkeys smashing cymbals. I thought how in the heck am I gonna relax and float in a dark tank? My husband purchased a Groupon, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Your first float may take a bit to relax but once you do, whoa!! The Staff is very friendly and explain everything well! The website does too! Facilities here are CLEAN, ZEN and I like the spa quality light scent of the soaps and shampoos you use before and after your soak. Clean Towels, water bottle and ear plugs provided and there is a hairdryer in the main restroom here as well, but you will need to bring your own hairbrush. I think each float will be different, I was tired so I slept part of it even. If you hit REM like I did you will feel very disoriented after, I also felt like I had a chiro adjustment or something as well? I felt relaxed with that just cracked feeling as my neck relaxed! I love this place. I suffer from anxiety and chronic back pain. I've tried many other types of treatment for my back and this is the best one! My anxiety has reduced tremendously as well. I even floated while pregnant (up to 30 weeks until the baby got too big for me to be on my back) and it was so nice to feel weightless and comfortable! I highly recommend for people who suffer from anxiety, pain, expectant mothers or even if you just need a good hour of quiet time/reflection. It's great :) read more

That being said, I absolutely adore Float Seattle. The people are amazing, atmosphere is perfect, and it's completely silent in the tanks. Lastly, if you're planning to float for the first time (which you totally should) I would recommend going more than once. Float Seattle has three float packages that are reasonably priced. Everything about my experience here was wonderful. First, when I called, I got an answering machine, but Matt took the time to call me back as soon as possible to help me schedule my first float. It was followed up by a humorous and helpful email on how to prepare and what to expect. I took my mother here for Mother's Day and it was the first time for both of us. The place is overall in a nature-themed minimalist style and dimly lit to suggest a relaxing atmosphere. There is a comfy vintage couch inside to wait before and after floating, so you're never hurried out if you're riding Cloud 9. The restroom is supplied with lotion, a hairdryer, hair ties, and tampons should you forget anything. This location includes an Ocean Room, which is a taller float pod, which I booked for my slightly claustrophobic mother. I decided on the Oasis pod since it was open at the same time. The pods can support one person and contain a mass amount of salts in 10" of water. You have a private room with adjustable lighting; a shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash; ear plugs (which I recommend) and ear wash; petroleum jelly to cover any owwies, and towels. You are advised to shower before and after your float. The float itself lasts one hour. Most pods allow you to turn off the light before you close the door. I spent a bit of time bumping into the walls but was able to steady myself. It was a little distracting but I did manage to transcend into this alternate state of reality in which I felt like I was cartwheeling through outer space. THAT was cool. I also got to a point where my retinas started putting on a gentle blue and black swirly show. I tried to meditate in there but as someone whose thoughts are crazy fast, I imagine this will take some practice. Not everyone can really get the zen going right away, and I think it takes some knowledge on how to relax to get a full benefit from floating. I was gently prodded to get out of the tank with some gentle music. I got out, showered, and realized that I no longer felt any pain. I was relaxed. I came out the door feeling like I had just come back from a glorious vacation. I felt lightweight and not burdened by tight muscles or sore joints. My mother, who deals with chronic pain, felt similarly. She was rather euphoric. The feeling didn't last forever, but it was so nice to experience that. I'm definitely glad I tried it, and I'll be going back, especially since I am cranky when I am overly stimulated and everyone just needs. a break! read more

This place is awesome. I booked and paid online, it was easy. The place itself was really cool and relaxing. The owner was there, he talked me through before the float, during the float and after. There are 2 tanks, I went with the smaller one. I spent the first 10 minutes or so just kind of moving around, trying to find the most comfortable position. It's hard to keep track of time in there, but it seemed like I went from getting comfortable to either asleep or really really zoned out. When the music came on at the end of my hour to let me know my time was done, all my senses kind of went crazy. I had a big rush of energy. Once I was done and left, I was totally relaxed, I actually wasn't sure what to do or where to go. Driving home, all of my senses were heightened, it seemed I was hearing every little noise, and seeing all the small details on everything I drove by. This lasted for a couple more hours. I'll be going back in for sure, might try the bigger tank next time. read more

The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and willing to help those floating for the 1st time or the 100th time (yes, I love this float studio so much that I've gone over 100 times now). The rooms are clean and well stocked with fresh towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and ear plugs. All you need to do is arrive ... they have taken care of everything else for you. Afraid of small spaces? No worries here! Book the "Ocean" room that has a high ceiling or talk to the staff about floating tips. This place has unfortunately gone downhill since my last visit in 2014 (which, granted, was 3 years ago). The staff is less friendly and helpful than my previous visit and it felt like I received a rehearsed speech in 2 seconds flat. When I asked a few simple, basic questions the staff member responded in a very flippant way that told me he was not interested in offering a good customer experience. I was annoyed by the time he left me to myself, which did nothing to enhance the entire float experience. He also gave me the wrong instructions for the buttons on the tank (one of which is a light, the other of which is a heater). He said "heat, feet" so I'd remember which was which. It is the tail end of summer right now so it was fairly important that I did not brulee myself. The only problem is he must have remembered wrong.... because I hit the light button like 6 times (the one closer to my head) before realizing that the button was turning on the heater instead of the light. "Heat, feet" my butt. The final issue with this experience was the shower. I don't know what kind of incredibly white patrons visit this space but the showers are NOT designed for those of us with ethnic hair. The water pressure is SO LOW that I couldn't wash out all of the shampoo and conditioner. I felt incredibly unclean and needed a rinse when I got home. ATTN FLOAT SEATTLE: people DO want to be able to wash themselves properly. I promise it would conserve water because I wouldn't spend 6x as long in the water trying to clean myself. The float session itself was wonderful and I can't complain about the pod itself. It was a great float, the salinity of the water felt appropriate, etc. I only opted for 3 stars because even though the staff and shower left something to be desired, the float itself went as expected. It's been a long time since my last float...did it to prep for back surgery back then and it worked. and then didn't after the surgeries and why? I doh't know...BIG MISTAKE!!! I have been dying to try floating, so my girlfriend got us a Groupon to Float Seattle. They offer free parking, which is awesome, but it's not connected to the facility itself. We didn't find that the website made the location of the lot very clear, but I will totally chalk that up to user error. This place is very muggy, and smells a little bleachy. Our explaination of the facilities was pretty quick, but seemed adequate. We were shown the tanks (they were both very different. One looked like a large horizontal freezer, the other was it's own small room), told how to get into each, given instructions on showering and applying Bag Balm to cuts and scrapes, and told to float with our hands up. Seems simple enough. I got a float room with the light. The entire concrete floor was wet, and there weren't any mats, which is a little unsanitary. I found a clump of hair in the shower drain, which grossed me out, but I figured it wasn't a big deal. As I was showering I noticed pink mildew in the corners of the shower, as well as mildew on the rubber partition that separates the shower from the rest of the room. I told myself that it was just due to the wet environment and got in my tank. Once in the water, I laid back, went to push the button to turn off the light, and it was completely SLATHERED in Bag Balm. I was now grossed out, because it clearly hadn't been cleaned between the last user and myself. I really wanted to relax and enjoy my first float, so I tried to get over it and just lay in the water as instructed. It was very comfortable, but after a few minutes I heard running water, and then shuffling that sounded like it could have come from whatever business was above Float Seattle- which was really distracting. A few minutes later I could hear footsteps and a door opening and closing. It sounded really close (I had earplugs in and my head submerged in water and could hear it). I immediately sat up to check if someone was in my room, and suddenly my eyes were burning. I wasn't warned that the saltwater would burn if it got in your eyes- I was just told that there was a spray bottle of fresh water to spray your face with as you sat up. I reached for the bottle, and it, too, was slathered in Bag Balm. I wanted to make sure I wasn't just hearing things due to sensory deprivation, so when I heard footsteps outside my door again, I took my earplugs out and listened. I was definitely hearing someone walking around outside of my room. When I opened my tank again (it's actually really scary to be naked and earplugged in the dark and have it sound like someone has entered the room you're blindly floating in) I noticed that there was a big crack under the door, so I had no soundproofing from the lobby. The rest of my float was punctuated by the ceiling-shuffling noises, water running noises, something that sounded like a motor, and the really distracting sound of someone walking around and doing stuff in the lobby with what I assume were flip flops on. It's not really a sensory deprivation experience if you can hear a bunch of stuff, and after getting scared by thinking someone was in my room and just HAVING to check and make sure four times, and burning my eyes, and getting more second-hand Bag Balm on my hands I decided to get out. I reached up above my head and felt a slimy layer around the edge of the tank. Like, a really dirty-feeling slimy layer. At that point I couldn't get out fast enough. I got out of the tank, showered, and took a flash photo of the inside of the tank, since it was too dim to see what was in there on my own. When I looked at the picture I was appalled. I never would have gotten into the tank in the first place if I had seen the thick layer of green buildup along the edge of the water. I showered again and got dressed, and showed the photo to the guy at the desk, who basically said 'That's normal- it's not anything growing because the salt would kill it, it's a buildup of iron from the salt. We clean the tanks once every day and filter them between customers, but it's really hard to get in there to scrub that off'. Now, logically, that seemed like bullshit to me. It looked like what happens in a pool if you neglect to clean or filter it. It felt like it, too. I've tried to find some information on the supposed iron buildup online, and am at a loss so far. I also don't think just filtering it is adequate, especially if every need-to-touch surface in the tank can end up slathered in grease between clients. My girlfriend heard my shower from one room over inside her tank and got out because she thought she missed her cue, so the soundproofing is not the best. I've since floated at Urban Float, and was shown a detailed instructional video with many positions to float in and what to expect, the tanks are lit/visible and CLEAN, the space was clean, silent, dry, and well-ventilated, and there was a really nice waiting area with couches to rest after. In a word? Nope. Poor execution on every aspect of what I have come from to expect from sensory deprivation tank experience... and I didn't even get into one. I really don't know how I can be in one part of the country floating and have such an amazing experience, and then come to another location and it can be ruined by so many factors... I'll try and remember them it in its entirety. First, my float was for a "gifted groupon" that a friend of mine couldn't use. It seemed like I was I instructing the person on the phone how to perform a frontal lobotomy, when all I was trying to do was use the gifted groupon....maybe too much epsom salt in the air?? Anyway, upon my arrival time, wouldn't you know it, "I'm sorry we don't seem to have your reservation in our system...." Now, on any other day I wouldn't have been so pissed about this, but I ended a meeting earlier and violated various HOV laws in order to make it on time (my some float tank gods, no tickets).... my response was nonverbal blank stares of "unacceptable..... I'm not going anywhere....get me in a tank"..... That seemed to to be unacceptable to the front desk person, as they then continued to ask me if I would like to rebook for another time... ?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!? In the process of trying to explain what I had been through to make this appointment, a girl came out and complained of unsanitary conditions in her tank... I took that as a sign that I would "regift my gifted gift" to a frenemy, and save my next session for when I'm in LA for work @ Float Lab Technologies. Float Fail. read more

The experience is awesome! I don't understand reviewers that have nothing bad to say, but only give four out of five stars. I am aware that there is a hipster-induced subculture of Yelpers that would never give highest ranking to anything, but If you are not going to give this place five stars, it might be time to reevaluate your view of the world. My point is that someone is finally doing this right, and the owners have focused on creating an experience that is obviously something they feel passionate about. I was so impressed that they didn't try to push products (or even have any to sell for that matter), that I signed up for the membership immediately following my first float. In addition, there was not the awkward "should I tip?" feeling so often associated with any type of modality. I have had many a massage/bodywork experiences ruined by the product push and infamous weird tip exchange (often the tip ends up feeling like a consolation for the fact that I am not interested in a $50 bottle of over-hyped, "organic" oil or similar product). All of this in a clean, modern, and relaxing environment; simply put, no BS to counter the surprising physical and mental "reboot" I felt after an hour in the tank. If you do the math, it is probably not making the owner's rich to provide this incredible experience, so please return the favor of support. Parking is often a pain at Greenlake, but I don't hold it against "Float" as they are not in the parking business. Make sure to give yourself a little extra time for this or you're going to spend the first half of your time in the tank trying to release the stress of finding a parking spot.
