Now I know why this place gets 5 stars. One of the most pain free optometrist appointment I've had in awhile. The front staff is super courteous and asked me if I wanted water not once, but twice while I waited (for less than 10 minutes). They also made is super clear about what fees I would be available for paying. I completed the application online beforehand so no long forms to fill out at the office. Onto the exam experience....Technician was friendly and didn't try to upsell me on additional tests (e.g. retinal photos). Optometrist I saw was Dr. Wong - young guy but is very professional and easy to talk to. I explained to him my eye history which had lots of "baggage" but he knew exactly what treatment I underwent. He was pretty quick when he measured my contact prescriptions and updated it so I can see more sharply. On the way out, the staff gave me a recap of what my insurance coverage is for contacts/glasses but did not try to upsell me on anything. All in all, a great experience. Will be coming back next year for my annual exam. read more

A little bummed out about false information. After waiting for a few weeks for this appointment, it turns out they don't take my insurance at this location even though it's listed as a provider under my insurance. Last year, they stated the same thing but actually did my exam due to an error on their end. A year later, "they're still working on being removed from the list." I waited 3 weeks for this appointment and was looking forward to my visit. However, I don't think that this was very professional to wait until a day before your appointment to let someone know that their insurance isn't acceptable. For anyone interested in going here, I would recommend calling to make sure they actually accept your insurance. read more

In and out very fast, called to have prescription emailed, they even have a website for that, call they'll give you a login and you can download or email the prescription directly. Woot, woot, back with an update! So first things first - Dr. Cho has impeccable taste in choosing frames that suit your face shape and style - I still get compliments on these lovely Coach frames I have had since... October? My first review. Sometimes I get a little.. lazy? When I wear my contacts so I just walk around wearing my glasses and someone always seems to comment on my frames. (: Coming back after a few months I've noticed that she also has very friendly staff. It's nice to be greeted with a smile when you walk through the door. And also being offered water while I wait - that's awesome. I don't know if that helps much. Aha. A smile though, can go a long way, agree? As I've mentioned before in my first post - Dr. Cho is incredibly knowledgeable - she knows what she is talking about and she is really thorough in giving explanations about what is going on or what is going on during an exam. Some optometrists are very - A to B to C and that is the end. Very little to no clear explanation of what is going on. She is the complete opposite because she knows just how scary or nerve-wrecking it can be to get your eyes examined. She also has an awesome selection of sunglasses for you to choose from 'cause sunglasses will shield your eyes from the harmful effects of the sun - preventing cataracts and all that stuff that we don't want to get as we age.. lol. I was a little anxious about the process of going in for an eye exam (it's my first time needing glasses). The first optometry office I went to explained to me things in ways I didn't understand, failed to tell me BEFORE my appointment that I would need to get driven home following my exam as my pupils would get dilated, reacted to my prescription like it was a bad thing because it was "REALLY high", then immediately tried to upsell me saying I would HAVE to pay out of pocket for a different type of lens (like I had no choice) and HAVE to get another set of glasses EVERY 6 months when my insurance only covered one set a year. Like, what?! It all felt way off so I went back to the drawing board in search of a new optometrist. I came upon FLOE and they offer the type of experience EVERYONE should have their first time needing glasses. They understand that's it kind of a big deal! They go above and beyond to make sure your visit is a pleasant one and that you are comfortable with everything being done. They explain concisely the process you're going through, they lay out all your options and don't try to push anything on you that you'd have to pay for out of pocket, and with utmost patience and care they stay with you throughout the lens selection process. They use top-tier equipment too! They're the kind of place that if your pupils need dilating during your appointment, they would tell you in advance. They didn't need to dilate my pupils to find me the right prescription because they are THAT GOOD. Oh, and as it turns out, I also don't need a new set of lenses every 6 months. read more

This used to be a 5 star optometrist. However their QC has become horrible throughout the years. We really enjoyed working with the doctors and Daisy in the front but every time we get glasses there have been issues with frame color mixups, damage, and prescription issues. They have always been able to correct it or make it better, but it was always after a lot of back and forth. The most recent example, I had to wait 6 months for a frame I ordered and when they were finally shipped to me, they were damaged. This time they were not able to fix the issue so I waited that long for nothing. I'm sad to say after 5 years with FLOE, we will not be returning. read more

I was so happy after my eye exam yesterday. My exam for glasses and contact lenses was done within 30 minutes (perfect since I was on my lunch break!). I saw Dr. Wong last year and this year I had Dr. Cho. Both doctors were very kind and informative. The woman at the front desk was super nice and the intern who did my pretesting was nice too. They take my insurance VSP and my visit was so affordable! I received a trial pair of contact lenses and Dr. Cho recommended another brand of lenses for me and gave me a second pair to try! So awesome! The office is soooooooooo clean and pretty. At the end, I got a little goodie bag for coming back again this year. WIN!!! Also, I was informed that when I order my contacts, they usually will have them available by the next day. Much faster than Costco!!! My husband and I just got married and we were looking for a new local optometrist. Our old one was really subpar. The type who would say "everything is good!" each time we came in, with no really good feedback on the true health of our eyes. So, we were ecstatic when we met Dr. Cho. A true professional and so personable. She truly cared about communicating to us clearly about the shape of our eyes. I found out that my eye lashes were actually scratching my eyes to an extent (never knew that before!) and I needed to wear sunglasses more because of sun damage (also was never told that by my last optometrist!). When it came to scheduling, it was so easy to schedule an appointment. I appreciate how we were told up front how much our insurance covered and there were no hidden fees. In the end, it didn't feel like we were pushed to buy anything and when comparing the cost of buying contacts online or through the optometrist- we would save at least $100 buying through our optometrist. We feel really comfortable having Dr. Cho be our family optometrist and we completely recommend her to others. read more

I've been coming to FLOE for several years and have had horrible service for the past year. A year ago they gave me a prescription for reading glasses. I had that prescription filled and it was blurry and wasn't right. So I had to have another pair of lenses made with the correct prescription. Several months later I bought another frame so I could have a pair of glasses, one at home and one at the office. I called them and asked them to email the correct prescription, because they had messed-up in the past. They said they weren't sure which one in my file was the correct one, so I had to go back into their office to get retested. I took their new (3rd) prescription to another optometrist and had them make the lenses. Four months later, just last week, I bought some small, cheep readers at CVS just for reading menus and stuff like that to keep in my car, and they work fine. So here's the really frustrating part! I went in today for my annual eye exam and brought all 3 pairs of my glasses, and they had me use each one to see how well they were working. I hadn't compared them to each other up until this point, and was amazed that I could read much better with my $30 CVS readers than I could with their $350 lenses (just the lenses, not the frame). I was blown-away and they were very surprised as well, especially since they gave me a brand new prescription just four months prior. So after the full exam they gave me a completely different prescription from all of the previous ones. I let them know I was really unhappy because I had just spend hundreds of dollars four months prior. Dr. Chui said she felt bad and would "work with me" on it. So then she told me that I would now have to spend ANOTHER $700 ($350 each) for new lenses; however, they would give me a credit on a third pair of lenses that I don't need. I very clearly explained that based on all of their past mistakes and costing me over $800 as a result, I was very upset that I now had to spend ANOTHER $700 just to get the correct lenses. At this Dr. Chui said, "well that's the best we can do". We all make mistakes, but I shouldn't have to pay for their multiple mistakes. I find this to be extremely unprofessional and unfair, and incredibly expensive to me since it's a direct result of all of their multiple past mistakes. I'll never go back to them and would strongly recommend that no one else does either, otherwise there's a good chance you'll end up paying for their mistakes. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

Words are not enough to express my gratitude towards Dr Chiu and her staff. My family and I, have been patients of Dr Chiu for a few years. From the first day we walked in, we have been treated by Miss Daisy (manager), with outmost care and respect, consideration and kindness. We have been treated as part of their family and not just patients. Furthermore, Liz has been unbelievably amazing both in knowledge and in helping us these years with our glasses. All the ladies are amazing and I can not say enough about them. Dr Chiu herself is an eye genius to say the least. This place is honestly a joke. Moving to Irvine recently, I was (and still am) in need of a good place for my eye exams. I came here because the reviews were great and when I called for my appointment they had the lowest price in the area for a contact lens exam. Here are the slew of issues I have had with this place: 1. On the phone the gal quoted me $50 for the contact lens exam. I verified this several times with her before coming. After my exam and it's time to pay, the bill says $60. While I'm not a penny pincher and $10 isn't that big of a deal, I said "I think you made a mistake. I was told the exam was $50." Instead of making things right, she literally argued with me about how I was wrong and she wouldn't have ever said that, blah blah. It was completely unprofessional. 2. After finally honoring the price I was originally told, she asked if I wanted to use my VSP allowance toward the contact lens exam, which I advised her no, I will pay cash. Not only did this office charge my credit card TWICE, but they continued to bill my insurance for the exam thus causing an issue when I went to purchase my contacts elsewhere about a month later. 3. The frames here are ridiculously expensive. This isn't really something that would have stopped me from going back, it just seemed very odd that it didn't seem like you could get frames for under $250 here. I went to target optical and got the name brand frames I wanted WITH the best lenses possible for under $250! Dr. Wong was very nice and knowledgeable, I actually really liked him. But given the lack of professionalism, the overcharging every which way they could and the overall experience with the rest of the staff I will not be going back here. Why would anyone want to be in the dark of how much something costs then risk being overcharged twice for the same visit? Certainly not me. read more

I waited for a while to write this review, specifically until after an issue I experienced was resolved. I had an exam here and it went fantastically well. The staff and facilities are equally first rate. I received my glasses back and one of the lenses was very distorted. They sent it back to the processing facility and had it redone. Unfortunately it came back distorted again. They sent it back again after completing another slot exam to make certain everything was ok with their measurements. They sent the glasses back and they came back perfect. The issue was with a difficult adjustment that needed to be made for my high astigmatism which was not easy for the processing facility to correct. The staff here really did a fantastic job following through and delivering excellent service in all respects. It is easy to recommend a place when everything goes well. I think For Eyes Optometry really showed their excellence by working through a problem to a great conclusion. They have a new long term customer in me! read more

We have been going to For Eyes Optometry for several years now and have had excellent service. My wife and I are able to book our appointments together which is perfect for our busy lifestyles. Dr. Cho is very knowledgeable and up-to-date with information regarding your eyes. On our most recent visit we learned about harmful blue light which is emitted from computer screens and personal devices that can increase your chances for macular degeneration if your eyes arent protected. Her staff can recommend lenses and filters to block. The facility is state-of-the-art and her staff has excellent customer service. Need we say more? Highly recommended with 5 star rating! Oh my! Where should I begin?! I went to this place to get eye exam on 12/31/2015, they were one of few places that still had appointment available for the last week of dec. Eye exam went fine, Dr Cho had great bedside manner and was patient and polite. I have had Lasik just 5 years ago and I guess now I have nearsightedness of 100 in right eye and 25 on left eye. Doctor suggested me to get TWO pairs of glasses, one for nighttime driving and one for computer. (Thought this was a bit excessive, to each their own) My biggest issue came with the glasses selection process. All their frames are pretty much $289 and above. Issues i encountered: 1) no explanation of different types of lens, I was basically told the lens copay was $73 and $61 (anti-glare). I was not offered different option for lens (I subsequently found out from vsp I could have gotten a plastic Lens for free, which was never communicated to me at this place). When vsp rep called them to ask why I was never offered the free option, the doctor and the billing lady both told vsp they had told me the free lens option (this is a complete lie), dr cho only spent a minute to comment on which glasses looked better on me, and I never even talked to this billing lady until 5 days after my visit when I had billing question. The one I did talk to was the office manager and she def did not tell me there was the free lens option! 2) rayban frame with msrp $160 are being sold for $289 at this place. I was being charged more than my friends who had prada frames!!! When I asked this place why are their prices that much higher than even the RayBan company website, I did not get a good response. 3) they accidentally charged my card twice! Yep, got charged $316.2 twice. I am not sure how that's possible but it happened. 4) overall I didn't have a good feeling about this place and in all honesty I am not ready to wear glasses again, only 5 years after lasik. So I asked them if I can cancel my order, they repeatedly told me they will check with vsp, they promised they will let me know, and every time they don't call me back, I had to call to find out and the answer was always no it's too late. So finally I called vsp and they were able to cancel it after I explained to them my issues with this place. I am very perplexed at all the great reviews on yelp! I suppose if u value service more than price, this place does provide great service. I am poor and cheap, so this place is not for me. I am relieved to be able to cancel this disastrous order, but I lost the ability to get glasses for 2015 since I procrastinated. That's a small price to pay. I am so relieved! read more

So let's start off with the fact that my eyesight SUCKS! I have known this for many years and have not found a single doctor that could truly help me..... until For Eyes! There are not enough words to express my gratitude to this office. Their office staff is amazing but more importantly Dr. Cho was incredible. This is one of those places you find by word of mouth. It's not in a strip mall. It's not a standalone business. It's in the MemorialCare parking lot, facing Barranca. It's also the kind of place that just gives off a positive vibe. You know, the second you walk in, that you made the right choice. Everyone is really nice and they have all the modern equipment (unlike a certain "optometrist" I went to years ago where the receptionist doubled as the exam specialist in some dingy back room). I wanted a real eye doctor and an office that had good equipment. For Eyes delivered. Dr. Wong was fantastic. Smart. Detailed. He made sure I felt comfortable. Do you hate to get your eye pressure checked by one of those machines that blows an air? Well I hate that, and here they don't use that machine, but they use different method to check it, which I really really liked a lot! I came here for my yearly eye check-up and wanted to order my contact lenses. My appointment with doctor Wong was good. He was very nice, knowledgeable and he was one of the calmest person I have ever met, which made my experience very comfortable. He was very patient and informative. I was looking for a new optometrist in Irvine near my home. After reading all the reviews I decided to take a risk and make an appointment. I called and got in the same day, it is a smaller business which is nice, not waiting, same day appointments, and thorough exams. The office is nice, small & cute. The staff are all friendly. The doctor was very thorough, and explained everything he was doing throughout my exam. He listened to all my concerns, and gave great advice. I felt comfortable, I felt I was being listened too, which sadly isn't very common in medical practices everywhere. Usually doctors are rushed, and booked all day and have a limited amount of time per patient. It was nice to have a easy exam without feeling like I was being rushed to make decisions. I ended up keeping my frames and added new lenses which only took one day to get back. AMAZING!! It's really nice to get my glasses back in such a short time! I was in need for some new glasses and found Dr. Cho's Office to be conveniently close to home. Dr. Cho was very knowledgeable and helpful. She was very friendly and took the time to explain things to me without making me feel like an idiot. I really like that her office hours extend past 5pm and that she gives the flexibility to come in even later as long as you make an appointment. My girlfriend and I just got our eyes examined by Dr. Wong last week. He is a considerate guy. My girlfriend wanted to get contact lenses so Dr. Wong gave her 5 pairs and told her to wear them for one week to see if they fit her. And at last appointment he gave her five more because she said they were not feeling comfortable in her eyes. And they were also free. I got my eyes checked last November but was feeling unconfident about the result because my eyes usually got tired with my old eyeglasses. Wong gave me a sample eye drop for eyestrain for free. Another problem was I just used my insurance last November and this time at Hannah Cho's I might not be able to use it again. But they helped me to communicate with my insurance company to see if I can still use it this time. You can also order frames if they don't have anything you like in store. Dr. Cho recently opened up her office here in Irvine. I got in contact with her and told her I was looking for some sunglasses. She politely told me the brands she carries and said that she could order a specific model if I had anything in mind. I told her I didn't but that I was just looking for the wayfarer style frames. She suggested the new wayfarers from Ray Ban and let me know she had a new shipment of them coming in soon. Once she had the new frames come in, she contacted me and let me know that I could stop by anytime to take a look. I went to her office which was conveniently located near Jeffrey and Barranca. Her office was clean and well organized. There weren't too many things in the waiting area which I liked a lot. I had been to many medical offices where there was just too much to look at and it just gave me a headache. She showed me the frames and explained the different color, frame size, and polarized/non polarized lens configurations that were possible. I made my decision without being pressured or being rushed. Had a great experience at Dr. Cho's office. I am a novice to glasses and eye exams. Dr Cho was very patient in answering all my rookie questions and did a thorough job doing the exam. It really gave me confidence that my prescription would be correct. It is a lot of pressure to try to give the right answer to, "lense 1 or lense 2?" Dr. Cho double and triple checked to make sure all was right. Her staff was also very nice and helped me choose the right frame from their vast selection.
