So, things have changed since my last review... they "solved" the issues with kitchen staffing by *closing* the kitchen. No more food at the bar unless you bring it yourself. (note: you can apparently order pizza, but only a whole pizza, at the bar) They also had been doing slightly better with bar staffing, with the bar being open more often than not, though still sometimes closing early and often 'temporarily closed' while the bartender went on break or on lunch. I guess the idea of having coverage is unknown to management here. BUT, now the bar has been closed for several days because "no one's been available to come in". I don't understand how management here is so incompetent with staffing. Bottom line: this place is good for beer (but not food) and terrible about being open. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they end up closing this taproom down like they did to several other Wholefoods taprooms. Sad really. read more

Well, because of the other reviews, I called (at 4:30 on a rainy Wednesday) to make sure they were open and assumed--incorrectly--that meant the kitchen would also be open. Nope! It ended well though: a couple killer semi-local IPAs (West Coast Offense, Cellarmaker, San Fran, and Cosmic Crocs, Humble Sea, Santa Cruz) and a slice of Whole Foods pepperoni and sausage pizza. All in an open and chill space. The beer's good, the tab's still open, and I think I'll be taking an Uber home. And if I get hungry again, there's a Whole Foods on the other side of the wall! read more

I've always walked pass Floodcraft Taproom when shopping at Whole Foods and decided to try a flight with my wife. Floodcraft has a wide range of beers and wines, so definitely a great place to explore. We came on a Friday evening so most of the individual table seats were mostly taken. We ended up sitting at the bar due to availability. Sadly there was only one person behind the bar so the time to get our orders in took some time. There was another staff member, but he was cleaning tables and going in and out of the kitchen. Staff was friendly though. Overall, good experience. Just needed a bigger staff on a Friday evening. read more

I've been here well over 10 times in the past couple of months and in my most recent visit, they denied my California Real ID because it was a vertical ID and not horizontal. They didn't even bother checking my birthday which shows I'm well over 21 years old. Next time I'll have to bring my birth certificate or passport and hopefully they will allow me to purchase from them. Also, their kitchen is almost always closed. The drinks were just okay and the food was whatever as well but the atmosphere was pretty good and the folks were kind. 8/17/23 Well, never thought I'd go to a pub inside of a Whole Foods (!?!!!????) Yup, in a WF. But it's bigger than I'd think, with I think half a dozen to a dozen tables, and a relatively large space. There's a bar up front where you order. The menu is online, and also displayed on TVs hanging above. They have a very good selection with artisinal craft beers predominantly from California, but a decent percentage from other states. But I guess as a bar, it kinda sucks. There was only one bartender so a line formed, and it didn't help that he seemed slow. And the vibe was just bad. It felt like you're drinking in a Whole Foods, and well..... who wants to feel like you're chugging beers in a supermarket? Good place to just come by after work for happy hour cuz since it's WF, you got parking but DEFINITELY do not make this your suggestion to friends to hang out.............. OH!!!!!!!! They're CHEAP! Located in the Whole Foods plaza with Flemings, Eureka, etc around. I came here Saturday around 5pm. Only indoor seatings. It wasn't busy. Only maybe 2 other tables were taken. It started getting almost half packed when we left around 7:30-8pm. The staff here is very nice to let you sample before you commit to a glass. They have wines, cider, beer, seltzer. The orange flavored creamy seltzer was really good, but weak of course. Ther's some good dark stouts/porters and hazys. Their red wines like cab and pinot noir weren't so good. The whites were good like sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. The staff said you can buy any alcohol and food from Whole Foods and enjoy it here. There's a water station for you to refill your water where the restrooms are. We saw a possible homeless man filling his big jug. read more

I come here with my colleagues quite often, because they have good beer selections and good food. Service could be hit or miss, depends on which bartender(s) you'll get that day. Sometimes we would get someone who doesn't smile and quite mean when taking our orders. Hence, only 4 stars instead of 5. They used to have skewers as appetizers, which we liked a lot, it went well when having a few drinks. But they changed their menu and took away all the skewers. The only item I like on their menu now is their chicken wings (I don't like carbs too much). At first I thought it would be very spicy since it's in chill sauce, but it isn't at all (which I like), it's sweet and wings were cooked to perfection. I'm craving for them as I'm writing these. The last time when I went with mt colleagues, we were served by a gentlemen (who I believe) named Eric. He was friendly and patience when explaining the menu and what we might like; he also gave a few testers to my colleagues to make sure they had the drinks they enjoyed. This gem of a watering hole is located inside the Whole Foods near Great America. One of my favorite places to come on a lunch break or if I just need a quick getaway from work to think. It's ideal if you want a quick beer, but don't want the potential chaos of a full-on bar. Drinking does not to be a hobby where you get completely smashed or the music is way too loud. Quality beer can also be sipped slowly and enjoyed. I'm glad the Bay Area is catching on to that. Always a excellent selection of local rotating beers here. Very friendly service too. If you're hungry, congrats, you're already in Whole Foods. You can pick something up from the hot bar to go with your beer. But personally, I would recommend getting the burger and fries at the actual taproom. It is delicious. If you work in the area, how have you not come here already? 2023 has been a strange year, somehow me and my good friend both found gainful employment. And said gainful employment is a 12 minute walk from each other. So when you and the guy you drink with happen to be work neighbors, it only makes sense to go bar hopping during your lunch breaks. They have a 8/10 burger here, plenty juicy, plenty cheesy. And the fries arent bad. the ranch is different but also not bad but might not be what you're completely used to. Service was super nice here though, but I wasnt the biggest fan of the beers, felt the one from oakland had too many hints of curry flavor which really threw me off. The Whole Foods taproom is a great place to try new beers. That have 20 rotating taps and feature both local and imported beers. If you can't find anything you like on tap, you can also purchase single cans or a 6pack from Whole Foods and they will open it for you and give you a glass for no fee! In addition, you can order small bites off their taproom menu. The burgers are delicious, but the pulled pork nachos are my favorite. Again, you can purchase food from the grocery side (like chips and fresh salsa!) and bring it over to the taproom to hangout or watch sports. Staff is always friendly and happy to make recommendations. It is usually easy to find a few seats. Sometimes you need to flag them down to clear the table, but they are quick about it. Awesome place to come for some food and drink! It's connected to the Whole Foods so you can also pick up some food from the store and bring it over. They have happy hour from 4-6, Monday-Friday, but honestly the savings are not that much, so I don't mind paying full price (only $1 off appetizers and drinks). They have a variety of seating options, including bar seating, long high communal tables, and low lounge seating. I saw a sign for outside patio seating as well, but it was raining when we came so I didn't check that out. You line up to order food and drink with the bartenders and get your drinks right away (you can open a tab), but if you order food you get a pager that vibrates when your food's ready. They have a self-serve station with utensils and tap water that you need to get yourself. We came on a Friday night around 7pm, and it was pretty busy. We had to wait a bit for the food, but it wasn't too bad! (They have 6 TVs to keep you occupied.) We got the fries, eryngii, spicy tuna roll, and edamame. Our favorites were the sushi and edamame! Overall, a lively environment, friendly service, reasonable pricing, and good food. Would definitely come back! Short Story: The best while Foods ever! Long Story: This Whole Foods is the best one I've been to and I've been to a lot! What makes this one special is their selection. They have a much more expansive selection of meats and seafood. For example, they have much more smoked salmon, octopus, scallops. Etc. Their meats are much higher quality. The store is much bigger compared to other Whole Foods in the area. The customer service is also fantastic. The store had several other departments that are not seen in some Whole Foods such as clothing, make up, bar, ramen, and burritos stands. Verdict: I'm going back tomorrow! read more

Love this place. Really great food. Had lunch at the bar with coworkers. They use good beef, and will cook it rare. Really rare. Like bleeding red. (If you like it.) I tried the Brussels sprouts and they were wonderful. You can also get a decent affordable meal here quite easily. Three if us were really well fed for $50, which is a bargain in Si valley. The bar is a small one, and looks to have a decent whiskey selection. It was lunchtime so I didn't drink, but next time I'll come after work and have a few cocktails. They have ciders, wine, and cocktails to enjoy if you're gluten free and also some healthy-ish snacks to go with them. And if you come for happy hour between 4-6 they're pretty cheap! Just the beers and appetizers are available at the discounts though. I tried a couple wines when I went and was pleased with both of them. They also have a wine of the day that you can get a glass for just $5! My group ordered some snacks that I tried as well like the fries with aioli, fried chicken, and mushroom skewers. I had asked the cashier what was gluten free and he seemed to know that those were okay for me to eat, but I still left with some symptoms of eating gluten with the few bites that I had, so if you're watching that then get them to confirm with the chefs! read more

I just stopped for a beer on my last whole foods visit. The place looks very nice and has a good ambience. The beer I had (dark , salted coconut) was very good. It seems to be a nice place to have an after work beer with friends while watching a game. Having such a place is an interesting idea for neighborhood like this which mainly consists of offices. I could imagine coming here with coworkers after work an have a beer before going home. Lately we've been coming here on Sunday's to get a quick brunch or lunch from the prepared food section at Whole Foods. It's much less busy than other places with comparable selection and can be combined with getting groceries. Ok so... apparently this exists! And I feel kind of silly for not knowing about it. $10 for a flight of 4 beers (1.5 oz each) is a great deal! They offer a similar deal for a wine flight. There's a whole mess of beers on tap, wines, and appetizers. Fancy bar stools, a few couchy spots in the back, and walk-in access from both Whole Foods and from the street. It totally holds its own as a bar, without any association or connection to Whole Foods. The large artisanal beer selection is legit and includes a range of stuff I had never heard of (which is the fun part of course!) This is a great spot for a quick meeting if you're in the area, and in warm weather there's plenty of outdoor seating. The bartenders were really friendly and polite. The atmosphere was quiet-ish. There's no music or anything playing, and just the background him of light conversation. Nearby men's and women's bathrooms are very clean. Actually I can only vouch for the men's room ;) I was just stopping in to take a break from rush hour, and I didn't actually try any appetizers. The next day I'm kind of regretting it because they had these glazed meatball things that some other people were eating that I just can't stop thinking about. Oh and if you drink to the point where you get hungry you can always wander into Whole Foods and get some actual hearty foods. Plus side, you can buy your food and beer at the store and eat or drink it there. No too shabby. At this trip we ordered the appetizers $12 for 3 skewers, trumpet mushroom, shitake mushroom, and chicken breast. Uhhh where is this food??? Not impressed with the small portion size. I really wanted to like this Tap Room, as I love the Mission Creek Brewery Tap Room at Whole Foods in Downtown San Jose. The Good: Beer selection was great, had an awesome IPA from Hop Dogma Brewery in El Granada. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. 4 Stars for the beer and bartenders! The Bad: The food. High expectations, low delivery. Supposed to be a special menu from a Top Chef finalist. The menu looked good in concept, but everything we ordered (4 different items) was a ridiculous salt bomb! Come on, Whole Foods...you're supposed to be giving us healthy food, not high blood pressure. Cut the salt at least in half and maybe more. Also, lighting was way too bright for 8:00PM. I'm there to relax over a beer, not to be interrogated! Cut the salt, cut the lighting, and the place has some promise. I'm not a beer person, but my friends are. They have a large selection of beer. My friends enjoyed their flights, which btw imho were reasonably priced at $10! You can sample the beer for free, before you commit. I enjoyed their wine, at either $7 or $8 for a big glass, you really can't beat that, unless you get your own bottle and kick back at home. It is a perfect, leisurely, relaxed spot to grab a couple of beers or some wine. Along with hot food! Which you could order from the bar, or go around to their hot deli and bring it over to enjoy with your beverage. It isn't crowded, but there seems to always be a handful of other folks around enjoying their drinks. Restrooms are nearby. I think it's a great little spot to hang with some friends! Bar open until 9pm most nights, and maybe open until 10pm. read more

I visited the Tap Room during Happy Hour (4-6) this past Friday for their "Local Tap Takeover" event that I found out about on their Instagram. The place was pretty crowded since it was the first Friday since they had opened. We entered our name and email for a $200 WFM gift card raffle and got a free bag, glass, and bottle opener! My boyfriend and I shared 2 beer flights, 2 wine flights, fries, edamame, meatballs, enoki bacon skewers and chicken miso skewers and paid ~$35 per person including tax and a generous tip. Pretty good right? In addition to being able to bring in whatever you want from the market side, everything on the bar menu is pretty cheap. For example the fries are $3 (regular price) and you can get a glass of Chianti for $5 or even a half a bottle of Loleo Sangria for $5. During HH, appetizers and drinks are $1 off. Beer flights are 4 x 4oz pours for $10 and wine flights are 4 x 1.5oz pours for $10. My boyfriend opted for the flights so that we could try the more expensive sour beers and get a better deal by ordering a flight. So glad that I can add this bar into my HH rotation! Our initial bartender was named either Angela or Alicia, unfortunately I forget which. Upon our initial arrival things weren't to busy. She was washing dishes, took my order and started making drinks. I happened to notice that she picked up glasses and would place her hand over/on the rim of the glass. When I ordered a shot she grabbed a shot glass, turned it over, and held it with her index finger inside the shot glass. I didn't say anything since her hands came straight out of the sink of soapy water however.......This was not the case when I ordered our second round. She was helping people in front of me, handling cash, giving change, taking the pen back from people signing the credit card slips, and no hand washing at all! She then handled the glasses again the same way. After I paid I walked to the end of the bar and had the manager replace them all. It is an unsafe food and beverage handling practice to touch the inside of glassware! Bacon Burger was decent, but the weird mayo they serve it with is a pass. Nice tap room. Love that they have beer flights. The beers can be hit and miss but because of the flights, you don't have a lot invested and it is fun to try different beers. The food is pretty good for a tap room. The Tokyo Burger is really good with caramelized onions, shiitake mushrooms and a spongy bun. It doesn't come with fries but they serve regular fries with a citrus mayo. My favorite appetizer is the Karaage (fried chicken pieces). It looks sort of yucky but it tastes really good. Trust me, it tastes 100 times better than it looks. The lemongrass meatballs are OK. I like the flavor but the texture is too soft so it doesn't taste like beef. The mushroom skewers were good (especially the enoki mushroom wrapped in bacon. I was not too thrilled about the chicken skewer. read more

YUMMMMMY - went here at lunch with my coworkers. I was told "they are the best burgers in the area". That is a tall order - but I was pleasantly surprised, the burger was absolutely delicious and the fries were fresh, tasty and a good portion. I am excited to go back for a happy hour when I can try more of the food items and perhaps a beer flight? Or adult beverage! We sat outside too, it was quite pleasant! One of the bigger, more spacious Tap Rooms in the WF Bay Area, they have TV's on every wall and a food menu to match the beer, wine, and the Moscow Mule cocktail thing that they were serving a week ago. This location also participates in Beer Week specials and promotions which is great for those of us who like to go to brewery sponsored events. This place can get crowded as there are a LOT of businesses and workers who come here after work. Even on weekends, families, groups, and youth sports teams congregate here as well. The outside patio has a lot of seating so on a non-sweltering heat day, it's pretty pleasant to sit out there. Few small nagging details: the bathrooms are the bathrooms for the entire store so everyone has to walk through the bar to get there. As mentioned, the bathrooms get a lot of heavy usage so don't be surprised if there is no soap or toilet paper in one of both bathrooms. Overall, a great place to meet and drink and eat than eating at the neighboring restaurants. read more

I had no idea Whole Foods was such a versatile place. Groceries, food AND a bar? Apparently I've been living under a rock. I was pleasantly surprised with the bar. Fairly good variety of beers to choose from, and from the looks of it they rotate their selection quite often. I opted for the the Seoul burger (with bacon of course), a beer flight, and some sushi to share. We also had some delicious fries for the table. Nothing to complain about regarding the food/beer/wine. There's definitely something left to desire in terms of atmosphere. Although, to be fair, the place is located in a fairly corporate environment so not much to expect either. Not exactly the place to hit for your night out on the town, but for a weekday happy hour?
