We had the best imaginable remodel experience with Leo and his team! I've heard so many horror stories about home remodels I was nearly terrified to do one. DO NOT GIVE LEO YOUR BUSINESS! We had a TERRIBLE experience with Floors By Leo from the beginning until the end of our project. Leo was incredibly unprofessional in the handling of our entire project from the moment the contract to install was signed. We actually consulted a lawyer at one point when we thought he might not complete the job correctly. We recently purchased a house and wanted to replace the old floors before moving in. We contracted with Leo to install tile throughout our downstairs floor and in the upstairs bathroom and to install hardwood in the stairway, bedrooms and hallway upstairs. The problems began with poor communication. First, Leo was resistant to picking up the hardwood flooring from our flooring supplier! He wanted them to deliver the flooring, but they don't deliver. I thought I was going to have to rent a truck and get it myself. After several confusing emoji text messages, I figured out that he would pick up the flooring. So he begrudgingly picked up the flooring after complaining via text emojis. What kind of professional uses emojis to communicate with customers?! It only got worse. His workers removed the old tile and carpet. Then they installed the hardwood upstairs. But, they did not wear shoe covers or cover the hardwood after they installed it. So, during the install they damaged the finish on some of the boards with their dirty shoes. Then, when they installed the tile in the upstairs bathroom adjacent to the hardwood floors, they did further damage to the hardwood that was left uncovered near the bathroom. The finish on several boards was worn off and some of the boards had thinset/grout ground into them by the foot traffic. It still gets worse! Downstairs, Leo confused my tile order and ordered the wrong color tile! Then, he proceeded to have his workers install two thirds of the floor with the wrong color tile! When I discovered it, he initially tried to blame me but the correct color tile was in the contract. Once he realized it was his fault, he tried to talk me into keeping the wrong color tile and offered to do a tiny bit of extra flooring in our washroom for free. Of course I turned down his offer. The incorrect tile he laid had to be removed and the correct color had to be reordered and installed. This pushed back our deadline by a couple of weeks. That was really inconvenient since we were waiting until the floors were completed to move into our new house. What a disaster! Once Leo realized he was going to lose money on our job, he became even more difficult to work with. When the downstairs tile was complete, I was able to get into the house and inspect the floors. Downstairs, I noticed that the tile was not laid flush in several places and the excess grout was not cleaned up in several places. The grout was also cracked in few spots. Upstairs, the tile in the bathroom was also not laid flush in several places and there was excess leftover grout. I also found the damage to the hardwood floors and immediately called Leo. He reluctantly came over and I pointed out the damage. Leo got upset, told me that he could not be responsible for all of the damage and he stormed out my front door. I have never seen such unprofessional behavior in my life! At this point, we contacted a lawyer for advice. We really weren't sure Leo would do the repairs since he stormed out of the house and was not responsive to phone calls. We were extremely disappointed in the quality of the work and that our brand new hardwood floors needed repairs due to negligence during the install. We were finally able to get Leo to agree to do the repairs after a couple of weeks. The repairs were not done completely correct but we were so fed up with Leo we just let it go. We just needed the disaster to be over. If you've read this far then you understand why I will never do business with Floors By Leo again! I will also never recommend him to anyone! read more

We are so happy with our gorgeous floors from Floors by Leo. From our first consultation, Leo was unbelievably honest, thorough, and helpful. He went above and beyond helping us select the right floor for our home, ordering it as a discount for us, and working with our vacation plans to ensure that the project affected our family as little as possible. He also suggested some upgrades to make our house look more modern which really elevated the project to a whole new look. The taller baseboards he installed went perfectly with the hickory floors. Leo did several extras for us including designing and rehabbing a very old and ugly fireplace into a beautiful new wooden mantel. He took out an old marble eyesore in our bedroom and repaired the wall inside and out. He also put in motion-sensing lights under our stairs which work great and are a nice safety feature in our home. Whatever the job, he always took the extra step. When we ran out of paint, he went to Home Depot for us to buy more and ensured it was a perfect match. He made a huge renovation project as easy as possible. Leo's assistants were top-notch. Jesus has worked for him for 25 years and is an amazing craftsman. His electrician was also excellent, putting new can lights and art lighting into our outdated family room. His crew was amazing at keeping the house as clean as possible during construction. Leo was always willing and able to make things right. Like any job, we encountered some unexpected hiccups (typical of a 30 year old house, I suppose!). He repaired a very creaky front step which wound up being a lot more work than anticipated. Whatever the issues, Leo always handled them with grace and did a great job with the repairs. Leo's work is great quality. Years ago Leo had installed hardwood floors in our kitchen and family room. This time we hired Floors by Leo to install new tile and baseboards in our entry, dining room, hallway, hall bath and laundry room. The floors being replaced ranged from tile to carpet to linoleum, all original floors that had somehow reached 29 years old. The removal of the old floors presented some surprises that we were concerned might increase the cost of the job, but Leo stuck with his original estimate. Our house has lots of 45 degree angles, so the tile install required lots of cutting and custom fitting. Overall the job took six days, but it was well done and looks great! So My husband and I just had our second experience with Leo and his team. I mean't to write a review last time around and just got busy with life. So second time around?? Just as good as the first! What a nightmare, where do I begin!!! If Yelp had a negative star rating Floors by Leo would deserve it. We contracted on a roughly 950 sq ft hardwood flooring project with him. We were told it would only be 2 to 3 days, it became 7 days. Leo had one workman doing the job by himself and only dropped by the project 2 to 3 times for about 5 minutes each time. But when the work was over, was when the real problems began. It was about a week later we noticed the edges of the flooring chipping away and splitting. Over the past year and a half we have had 3 separate independent floor inspectors come through the house, all to conclude that it is due to improper installation on the installer's stapling. At this point in time Leo still has not made good on his work or his promises. If you like a good story or want a headache call Leo! He will tell you a bunch of stories, none you can believe. I searched for a company to tear out linoleum floors in my kitchen and laundry areas. I got 4 different companies in the area to give me an estimate for the job. Floors by Leo was the best priced bid. I checked Yelp and saw Leo's overall review rating was high. So I let Leo know he got the job. His crew started last week, and finished in 3-4 days. Leo's employees showed up to work on time every day. They were absolutely respectful and professional, and their quality of work is fantastic. They tore up the linoleum and sub floor, they installed the backer board, set the tiles and put in the grout. Once the grout set (72hrs) they came back a couple days later to seal everything. And they left me the extra grout sealer so I could re-seal it next year as needed. That was nice. Everyone worked hard while they were at my house, and they ensured I was happy with the work before they left. I didn't learn everyone's name that was at my house, but I want to acknowledge Frisco for his work. He was the main tile installer on my job. Frisco was fantastic! OK, here's a bit of an update. I'm not really taking away from my initial review regarding my work, but more so giving Leo a 1 star review based on his commitment to his customers afterwards. I began to see some separation of the laminate flooring panels (visible gaps forming) and so I called Leo up to see if I could talk to him about it. Get his opinion as to why this was happening. It could be the installation or it could be because of the product, who knows? That's why I called him. Well, he didn't answer the phone so I began to leave a detailed message about what I was seeing. Leo called me right back, during the time I was leaving him my message in fact. I finished my message and then saw that it was Leo who was calling me. Oh perfect! I thought. So I called him back again but he did not pick up. No worries, he's busy, I thought. He'll call back again when he has some free time. No call back all day. My wife called him the following day and so did I. No return call. My wife called again the following day and again no return call. WTF?! Not in one of our messages did we accuse Leo of being the reason for what we were seeing and had just hoped he might stop by take a look at the issue and make a recommendation. If it was defective material, he would know and could help give us advice as to how to deal with the vendor possibly. If it was something to do with the installation, we would understand it has been 2 years later and of course we would have to pay for the repair, if he said it could not be done for free. But for goodness sake, we don't understand why he refused to call us back at all! He called back right away while I was leaving a message, thinking I was calling to give him immediate business. But after hearing my message, he must have thought he did not want to deal with our issue. I knew I had more flooring to do in the house and I figured I had a go to flooring guy to call. I am sad to say that I am wrong about that. Leo clearly doesn't regard his past customers as family, based on the way he just chose to ignore our calls. I have to say my last review is too high. Because of the stellar reviews here and on Angie's List, I contacted Leo to do 1000 sq feet of engineered hardwood flooring, most of our downstairs except the kitchen. He came and gave me an estimate, worked with me to make sure the discounted product I was buying (Brazilian Teak) was of good enough quality. He scheduled me for a start in 2 weeks. The crew he sent was professional, courteous, and turned out to be true craftsmen. When they tore out the carpet it became evident the previous owner had filled in the split-level sunken living room with cement, and hadn't done a good job getting it level and even. No problem. Leo has the tools and experience. They ground it and leveled it with some new cement, and were back on track the next morning. The floor looks beautiful. The job went quickly and smoothly, overcoming several smaller hurdles without adding cost or time to the project. The invoice came in based on the estimate, with a reasonable hourly-overrun for the cost of grinding and leveling the living room, and putting in new baseboard moulding. I plan on having Leo do the upstairs as finances permit. I highly recommend Floors by Leo for your residential or even commercial needs. When we decided to add new wood flooring to another area of the house we somehow landed with Carpet One in San Ramon. We knew we should have called Leo but the ball was rolling and we went with it. If the second review by Rob G was available about 3 years ago,I would of not hire Leo to do my floors. I too had to pick up all of the materials, thank goodness I had a van. I had laminate and tiles installed. I was not fond of the fact that as the new laminate wood were installed, they were being stepped on by the workers' dirty shoes. So when it was completed, I found little nicks here and there on the laminate wood. I also found that the grout in certain areas of the tile work were coming loose. Leo had his worker come back the next day to patch up the loose grout and place some sort of putty in the nicks. Okay whatever, the work was done and I was just happy to have my house back. So as the months went by, I noticed that the laminate wood panels in certain areas of the room were starting to separate! As more time went by I saw more areas developing the same problem and the cracks due to the separation grew wider! They were so noticeable! Finally, I contacted Leo and asked him to come by and take a look at them. He never got back to me! After three attempts I gave up. We recently had Leo and his crew install engineered hardwood floors to our downstairs. We found him through the awesome reviews on Angie's List. Leo was quick to come over and provide an estimate. He is extremely reasonably priced and we liked the fact that the quote included everything. We found other places had upcharges left and right. We were amazed how quickly Leo and his crew came in and completed the job. We did have to put in new baseboards due to the way our previous ones were installed. We had the impression that the baseboards would be painted prior to installation, but they were put on with just the primer. I do not think this was Leo's fault, just a miscommunication. When we talked to him about the paint he was able to get someone in the next day and took care of it. The painter did an amazing job as well. We definitely had to keep in contact with Leo throughout the process mainly because of the baseboards. He did do a walkthrough at the end with us and answered all our questions. we just had new floors put in our living, dining, stair, hallway and master bedroom areas. We have a household that is tough on floors, so I had done extensive research and testing on products before calling Leo. By the time we called Leo, we had decided on a product that is only available at Home Depot. Leo came out and measured, and told me exactly what to order from Home Depot. I even called him from the store to clarify something. When the flooring arrived, his crew picked it up and delivered to our home a few days before installation was to begin. Once the job got underway, they ran in to some problems due to the way the carpet had been laid on the stairs before we ever bought the house, so they worked to correct it. The other small glitch was that Leo had forgotten to include an odd part of a stair landing in his measurements, so we ran out of stair nosing. I typically find working with contractors a frustrating experience. The whole process from trying to get a quote to the job getting done on time and to your expectations. I felt compelled to write this review for Leo because he made the experience so easy and the best part, he did it at a fair price and the job was done PERFECTLY. We had them install large porcelain tiles in our family and laundry room and the floor came out gorgeous. Everything perfectly aligned, the grout he recommended could not have been any better and the compliments I get....everyone who sees it raves about it. I made arrangements to get the floor installed while we were going on vacation and my Mom was going to let the worker in. She said Juan a member of Leo's team was always on time if not a little early, worked a real full day starting around 7:30am and worked into the afternoon each day and you can tell by the finished product that Juan is a perfectionist. There were no delays, drama, problems, nothing. It was a great experience from start to finish. I wish they'd expand their business and do more than floors because I'd use them for anything construction related...you can't go wrong, Leo and his team are the best. read more
