I was starting a renovation project and wanted to use a local business vs a big box store and asked around, Floors for Living kept coming up. They have a reputation for great work and have been in the area for a long time. I stopped in and was greeted by Sarah, a super friendly and amazingly knowledgeable young lady. She was able to answer all my questions and is a fantastic help finding the exact flooring for your project, whether it was wood, tile, or carpet, she showed me what was different about each brand and version. Sarah ensures you get a really good education about the materials which helps you make a choice that you will live with for years and years. That takes away a lot of the stress and gives you confidence in your selection. Once all that was done the scheduling of the job was a breeze, Sarah could get the installation team to the house exactly when I needed them. They showed up on time, did a fantastic job with the installation, went above and beyond to fix little details with the existing flooring to make sure the final job looked perfect. Red flag- the installer we had that tried to install our luxury vinyl flooring were contract laborers who could care less about the quality of their work and more about just getting the job done. Additionally, they undercut the door frames much that I now, I have to replaced the door frames. We hired Floors for Living back in March to replace our carpet with wood upstairs. After we paid, they told us we would have to wait a month or so to actually get our floors done due to the lumbar shortage. We understood those are circumstances you can't help. Finally, 2 months later, they told us they would be installing the floors the next week and needed the rest of the payment asap. Sounded fishy, but we paid the rest in full, and the flooring installers arrived on a Tuesday. I called Monday (the day before) to confirm that we were getting white risers on our stairs. They confirmed this after looking through the order. The last day of the project, Thursday, I decide to come home early from work to find the installers NOT applying white risers to our stairs. I asked why, and they said they didn't have the materials or that information. I called the store and they gave me the number to Jeff, the person in charge of ordering the supplies. He told me the white risers were only arriving next week and that they didn't give this information to the installers. The installers had to stop the job immediately, leaving us with half done stairs, exposed wood, splinters, and dust for several days. Did I mention we have a toddler? That did not make for a weekend. I was promised a call to let me know exactly when the installers would return. No calls and messages from them. Finally I reached out 2 days later, and still received no information on when to expect the installers or supplies to be in. We had no idea when to take the day off. Two days later, the installers call, saying they are on the way to our house (while we are at work). We told them we never received word when we would be coming, so we were unprepared for this. I reached out the store manager, Sterling, to complain about the lack of communication. I thought this would be helpful, but it wasn't. Instead, he was very rude and very matter of fact, saying it is what it is. He didn't take any accountability to any mistakes or errors in communication, which is surprising for a manager. He also, did not to provide any solutions or talk of any compensations to the several errors in this project. He stated he would call us after the project was over. It's been weeks and we still haven't received any communication from Floors for Living. I even filled out a survey the last day of the project, stating I wanted them to call me to speak about the poor communication. I will not be recommending Floors for Living to any family or friends. Save your money, and look elsewhere. read more

Stay away. A five day job has turned into 13 days and counting. The first crew did such a poor job that it all had to be removed and the job started over. I cannot believe how wonderful this place is. When we went it, quite by accident, we were greeted warmly and promptly. We told them what we were looking for, and Todd immediately showed us the PERFECT flooring. We had been flooded by Harvey, so we needed new flooring for the whole house. We wanted a wood look, but that could hold up in case it happens again. We had been looking for a month or so, but needed to match the wood beams and cathedral in our 30 yr old house. They had the perfect match!!!! I'm still in awe at the match!!! Then I became in awe at the installation!! They leveled each room!! And the leveling compound was totally FREE! No hidden costs whatsoever! This was the first flooring company that has ever done that for me!!! I cannot say enough good things about Juan and his crew. They were fast and efficient, paying attention to details and ensuring that the job was done properly. And I love my new flooring. I've been posting it on Facebook and friends and family love it, even asking what brand, etc. One neighbor came by yesterday after it was finished, got our samples to show his wife, who is wanting to put down flooring in her bedroom. We went with Coretec laminate in the Carolina Pine. They also supplied us with quarter round stained to match. We plan on doing our own baseboard and we've installed new unfinished wooden doors. We asked about the stain and Juan explained it was mixed, but we could take one of the left over floor board to Sherwin William's and have them match the stain for us. He did give me the stain colors that they used in their mix, but did not have exact measurements. But still, just knowing we get get a match is great!!! I'm still in awe at how wonderful it looks. Just beautiful. It looks so real. Far better than anything the big box stores sell and well worth the money. I don't think any contractor could beat this deal given all of the freebies. Before we came here, we had a consult with a contractor who wanted $4,000 more for inferior flooring. Please, if you are in a natural disaster, come to Floors For Living and talk with them before you agree with a contractor. They are far superior and this is what they do, and they take it very seriously. They go beyond any contractor, and they go beyond any other flooring company. My home was flooded during Harvey. We had to pull up all the laminate flooring in our home. We decided we wanted to install wood looking tile instead. My aunt suggested we call Floors for Living since her friend had used them and was very pleased with their quality of work. I met with Todd who was very professional and helpful as well as patient (I had a million questions and concerns) Despite the huge demand due to the disaster, Todd was able to schedule me within 3 weeks and even came out a second time to measure again since I had added a few extra requests to my order. I must say the install went smoothly. The manager called me the day before and said they didn't have my tiles in stock but could install the larger ones for the same price. I'm glad I went with the larger ones as it makes the my den and dinning room look so much larger. He answered all my questions and assured me that everything would be done at 100% to my satisfaction. He was right. The install crew showed up on time. The tiles were installed very well and the crew cleaned up after themselves and were very courteous. I'm very happy with the service that I was provided and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, good quality flooring and installation. Please see Todd Zachary. Strange actually. We originally spoke with a salesperson who was visiting from a different location, and he was fantastic, pleasant, knowledgable. Then the measurer came. He was pleasant too, but when he called with a quote, it was double the amount of the original salesperson's estimate. Ok - that can happen I suppose, the first one WAS just an estimate after all. So I asked him to send me a copy of the estimate. He said their policy was not to send estimates. Huh? Is that even legal? Anyway, I told him I needed to see the breakdown to see why it was double the original estimate. He said he'd see what he could send me, and I never heard from him or the store again. Guess what? The local national home improvement store did a great job on it instead, really efficient, great communication, for the amount that Floors for Living originally quoted!
