The store has a great selection but I found the sales staff completely unhelpful and rude. The first person told me they couldn't tell me any prices, the second salesperson disappeared for 15 minutes and couldn't direct me to the price point I needed. I then called the next day and the man on the phone seemed bothered by my call. When I inquired about prices for 'Naturally Aged' flooring he told me he didn't know. So I asked if he could please call the vendor and he said yes but whatever the price was, expect it to increase. Why have items on display that you don't want to sell? Why be a salesperson if you don't like helping people? They won't be getting my business. read more

We ordered a, what I thought, was an expensive carpet. Our friends have the same carpet and recommended Sonya at Floortex. She was lovely during the buying process and scheduling installation. Fast forward, we loved the carpet and the installers did an ok job, however they never vacuumed the final product, which we thought was odd, and when I saw a black spot they cut it out. We bought a Dyson (same one our friends use) and my husband vacuumed it today and it left a large pull in our new carpet. Beware because we called Sonya and basically she told us that we can not use a dyson or the power nozzle, also can not use our electrolux, because she said it is wool (not all wool btw), and residential not commercial carpet. First of all we had a residential carpet for 30 years that we used our electrolux power nozzles on. We asked her why she never told us this and she went silent. The installers are from their own company, not floortex and when you have a problem they send them. We are not happy with the customer service at all! read more

We recently added an office in our building. We needed some nice new carpet, padding and trim. The staff at Floortex were very helpful in showing us samples, explaining why one option was better quality than the other and what would look nice in our new space. Floortex was willing to work with me and install new engineered wood floors over a hydronic radiant heat system and on a diagonal to help our small home feel bigger! I was surprised there wasn't a smell from the sanding and finishing they did on site even a few days later. The floors are beautiful and soft to to the touch with bare feet & I love that I'm not blinded by glare/reflection when the sun comes in the windows! Buyer beware! Unethical biz. Unsupervised carpet installers severely damage our original custom hardwood floors and baseboard. The games they play to avoid repairing and downplaying the damage is disappointing; yet they expect to be paid top dollar! Oh and they won't talk to you - the consumer - (which is a trick to avoid dealing with damages), but rather the designer or architect only; yet you - the consumer - sign the estimate. They outsource unsupervised labor from outside of the area, which is another trick. Rudy cannot be bothered to actually go to the property to evaluate and do the repairs, as he said he would; yet tells you he is coming only to be informed right before he can't make it after you have driven 4-5 hours to meet him. read more

We just used Floortex Design in San Rafael to replace the well-worn floors in our home. From the moment we called to make an appointment with Floortex, we had a positive experience. Rudy, the owner, is super knowledgeable and helpful about the products and the process, and he was extremely patient in our selection process. Today FloorTex Design just finished installing a new hardwood floor in our master bedroom/retreat. It was a tough job because we were living in that room...two large clothes closets, a stereo closet, a fireplace with window seating, plus all the furniture, California King, night stands, ladies' dresser, cedar chest, couch and men's highboy. The installers came in, scoped out the job and went to work. They had to move all the furniture to one side of the room while they stripped out the old carpet and pad and baseboards. They did a great job and finished in less than two days. Excellent work and left the job cleaner than when they started.
