After searching yelp for local florists, I decided on this one based on such positive reviews. I came in at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon to get a simple bouquet for my friend for her birthday. I had pictures ready to show the lady (didn't catch her name). She gave me suggestions and asked for a budget. Soon after, she was grabbing flowers and whipped together a beautiful sunflower arrangement. It was in a small square vase which was perfect for the occasion. My arrangement was priced very reasonably, coming out to be about $30. I think this is a cute little shop with a very friendly florist and staff. Flor De Monterey was our primary florist for our wedding with Carmel Fields by Wedgewood weddings. While the floral garlands and arrangements for our wedding arch display and sweetheart table setting was lovely, we were underwhelmed and disappointed by the centerpieces. We had sent in several mockup photos to be referenced as well as described to them in person of what we wanted, but their service fell short. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen, but we spent a lot of time providing detail on what we wanted that seemed to be discarded. The new owner and staff are quite nice, and allowed us to drop off our centerpiece hardware 6 weeks in advance which was very helpful. Just make sure if you book them, you are over the top clear on what you want and expect to ensure you actually get it. read more

Well I tried to give the owner a chance to call me back and explain what happened but just like the delivery it didn't happen. So here is the deal if you are looking for a delivery on a certain day this is not the florist to use. I had ordered 2 weeks prior to my mothers internment at the cemetery 30 balloons to be delivered to the cemetery. It's a tradition we do when we bury our relatives there in our family plot. We get to the cemetery about 40 of us and we are standing over moms hole in the ground waiting for the balloons. I call the florist and the women says we don't have an order and I ask how can that be I paid for it and she said well we don't have one and I hung up thinking I had the wrong florist. Still standing at the gravesite I went back and saw that they were the ones I ordered from. So I called again and they said well let me check. They came back and said I do see the order. Would you like them still. Well yea we're standing here waiting for them. So they said we will have them there in 15 minutes and I reaffirmed the cemetery, oh yes we know that. Great. 30 minutes later while still standing over my mother the groundskeeper gets a call. They delivered them to the wrong cemetery. You caused us to stand there an hour more then we should have waiting to put my mom to rest. So I called for an explanation and was told the owner would call me. That was two days ago and no call. DO NOT USE THEM If you want something important delivered. They won't show up read more

Vena and her team did an AMAZING job with the flowers for our wedding at Rancho Canada in September. I especially loved my bouquet, which had every flower I wanted and in the specific colors I had requested. We met with Vena 2-3 times in-person after corresponding back and forth over email for ~6 months. I sent her lots of photos of what we wanted, as I had a pretty specific vision in mind, and she always responded within a few days. She did a beautiful job and worked closely with us on our budget. The best part is that Vena cares about the quality of her work and that it turns out exactly as you requested. She even came the day of our wedding to help set up to guarantee everything looked perfect. She's very sweet. Vena herself admits that she works best with brides that can also come into the shop to communicate with her in-person. She has a strong accent so being able to sync face to face and with visuals is important. As we were based in LA and our wedding was in Carmel Valley, we tried to meet with her every now and then when we were visiting. This worked out well for the both of us. I recently ordered a bouquet for delivery to a business as a thank you. I chose one that was called "Make Lemonade" or something like that. It was to have yellow daisies, roses and lemons, yes actual lemons. At least that was what was in the description and picture. I finally saw what was delivered and it was not worth what I paid for it. The flowers were not arranged very nicely. It appeared as if they had been gathered together with no design in mind, plopped in a vase and considered done. There were no lemons at all so the message I left made no sense to the receiver. I was quite embarrassed. Sure, the flowers were pretty but not what I had expected at all. I had hoped for more given the positive reviews. I would have done better by going to Costco and buying a vase. I would have saved a ton of money and had a much better bouquet. read more

We are from out of town and had our wedding through Wedgewood weddings in Carmel. This flower shop is one of their vendors so we went with them which was the biggest mistake we've ever made. This owner was horrible from day 1. She was so hard to get hold of thru-out the planning, charged us so much more money then we first agreed on. We thought we were going to get what we ordered well we were wrong Not one thing showed up the way we ordered it and of course she never got back to us during the planning and has still not gotten back to us. Do not go through this company, and if you go through Wedgewood weddings, which was a dream to work with find your own floral venue. I had 2 challenges: an outdoor venue (I didn't want the flowers to overpower the natural beauty) and bridesmaids dresses that were just a bit off of the color scheme I had picked for decorations. Vena was very responsive to my emails through the entire process, and made very thoughtful and keen suggestions when we had our in-person consultation. I am not happy with my purchase. I chose this florist because of the star rating. I chose a birthday bouquet to be delivered. I chose this particular bouquet because of the bright colors. According to their policy if they need to substitute flowers they ensure the color scheme, theme, and style. This wasn't even close. The colors were pale and this had far less flowers which looked ridiculous with the brightly colored balloon and brightly colored curling ribbon attached the vase. It just didn't go well together. Vena is so sweet! She walked me through all the flower options and colors over the phone. I got an initial quote from her (that I ended up changing about 15 times) which was less than other florists in the area. She did an wonderful job on the flowers. I had a hot pink bouquet and received so many compliments on it. I initially didn't budget for the amount I ended up spending on the flowers, but the arrangements really did add something special to my special day! Don't be fooled by the name Flor De Monterey... They do linen and chair covers as well. And they charge less than the event rental companies in Monterey! Delivery: Since Vena did a great job on my wedding, I called her last week to request delivery for a bouquet for Grandma's birthday. WHY did I use FTD instead of Yelp to get flowers delivered? After a tag team effort btw FTD and Destiny's Precious Gifts to beat down my soul, Flor De Monterey saved the day. They were able to deliver the same day I ordered with a beautiful arrangement. As for FTD and Destiny's Precious Gifts, those guys are more like magicians, making things magically disappear, like my $85 and my mom's "Mother's Day" orchids. Unfortunately, they're not very good magicians since they couldn't make either of them re-appear. read more

I hate to write negative reviews, especially not knowing what happened. But I think this vendor is very good if you can walk in to the store or call her, but I was an international bride and could only communicate via email. Contact was sparse and often got no reply. I booked and paid through a third party wedding vendor, but still had to contact the florist about the details. I sent an email a few weeks before the wedding with a picture of my bouquet and asked for an arch spray that would compliment it. I sent another email a little over a week before the wedding asking for confirmation, and was assured it would be taken care of. I double checked with my coordinator the day before the wedding, worried because I hadn't heard anything from the florist at all, but she assured me it would be taken care of. Then as I'm walking down the aisle, I see that there is no floral on the arch. Luckily I had other decorations including draping that I'd provided for the arch so it wasn't the end of the world, but still was shocked at the complete lack of follow up with this vendor. Maybe things would have been different had I lived in the same place I was getting married, but I did not have that luxury. read more

WOW! My bouquet for my wedding bouquet was amazing. I worked with Vena to send her what I wanted and even provided some of the hem of my wedding dress and she was able to create this lovely bouquet and used the hem to tie it into the arrangement. I was very happy with my flowers and they were beyond reasonable. It was an elopement so I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for flowers and they were extremely easy to work with. Their bouquets really suck. They count on senders not to see what they actually deliver. On a picture you have this amazing flower arrangement and you buy the biggest size for over $100, but your friend/family member receives some joke worth $20-30 if you buy same flowers at Traders Joe. I walked into Flor de Monterey a few days ago looking to have a Christmas arrangement done for my mantel. I was able to describe what I was looking for and also be guided by what Vera (?
