    Chicken & eggs w/ mole
    Lawrence K.

I ordered the mole w/chicken. The mole was exceptional--I cleaned the plate. Because it was early in the morning, I asked for eggs and the server was willing to substitute 1 chicken piece for scrambled eggs! Their rice was jasmine flavored, and very fragrant. Was a good contrast with the heavy mole.

Service was fast and friendly for a weekday dinner! Ordered the La Tiayuda Tipica - huge tostada almost like a pizza covered in beans oaxaca cheese and 3 meats, 4/5 honestly the tostada itself was really good, but the 3 meats on top were okay, a bit dry and almost out of place. You could get it with or without the meats. Enmoladas - 4/5 - the mole here is amazing! I could drink a bowl of their mole. It has a hint of sweetness, not super bitter, and a bit earthy? Overall, it was great! I'll come back just to order more mole dishes.

An Honest review about the food. $60 for 2 people 2 beverages and 2 meals But first...This place has a gorgeous atmosphere, truly 5 stars for charm, décor, and overall ambiance. If you're looking for a lovely setting to catch up with friends or enjoy a quiet date, it's absolutely worth a visit for the surrounding. But food is ok. It doesn't have the homemade feel. It doesn't match the energy. I had high hopes, especially for the mole. As a chef and a regular at Restaurant Mary's off Main (where abuelitas are behind the simmering pots), I've been spoiled by deeply stewed, slow-loved mole. Unfortunately, the mole here felt rushed--more surface-level in flavor, and paired with a very mature, fibrous chicken that lacked tenderness. I give it a 2 out of 10. The chile relleno looked beautiful on the plate, but the flavor didn't quite deliver. Presentation was a 10, execution a 3. Service was kind, but considering we were the only guests, I expected more attentiveness. I give it a 3. Lastly, a heads-up: they use artificial dyes in their drinks (including red dye), which is something I personally avoid for health reasons. Final thought: Come for the atmosphere, take lots of pictures, but manage your expectations when it comes to the mole and relleno. Again, I eat mole from scratch so I'm very spoiled with homemade Mexican food.

Mole amarillo. Good but not as good as their mole negro or mole coloradito.

This place is amazing. Not only the best mole I've ever had (I'm not Mexican but I love mole and so will you if you come here), everything else was also amazing. The mole negro was perfectly balanced; just the correct hint of chocolate and just slightly sweet with all the other complex flavors you'd expect from a good mole. Mole coloradito was also very good. The chicken that came with the mole was cooked perfectly; tender and juicy. The rice was flavorful and not an after thought. The tortilla was homemade and fresh. I think this is my new favorite Mexican/Oaxaca restaurant and will be going back often. And service was very good too.

The place was almost full when I arrived and waited to be seated and ultimately was pointed to an open spot by another customer. Took a bit for the waitress to bring a menu and take my drink order. The place is a typical home style diner where mostly locals frequent. I ordered the Plato Flor de Oaxaca which is a sampler plate with various items from their menu. It was a bit bland and could have used more seasoning but was plentiful. All in all a good experience.

Hot chocolate made with milk. It can be made with water. The bread is light and delicious.

Small place with great food. Service is quick and helpful. Small wait time if there's a line outside. Parking can get tricky.

We had excellent mole here. Small shop with about 9 tables. Tried Amarillo and black mole with chicken. The hand made corn tortillas were delicate & tasty. Everything was like home made. The Amarillo is not my favorite - first time I tried it, resembles curry for me. LOVE the black mole. I agree with other reviews, pretty sweet. Service was good. They were very busy, Monday at 5 pm. Seems like locals like this spot. The ambiance was Oaxacan for sure. Clean and friendly staff.

Food was excellent, the service was on point, the ambience, a guy came in to sing solo spanish old school slow romantic music.

I had this place bookmarked for ages! The flavors were all amazing and there is a ton of variety. I had the Flor de Oaxaca and while I enjoyed it, the meat portions were small and just ok. The mole was incredible and I would order that again in a heartbeat. My wife had camarones de ajo (garlic shrimp) and it was good. We had the nopales appetizer and I thought it was pretty bland. If you like nopales, maybe you'll think differently. The service was fantastic and this place is a small gem located in Santa Ana. The parking lots is cramped and there were some shady characters in the lot. I'll be back and work my way through the menu and update this review.

    Delicias de Oaxaca platter

Going to an event at the Bowers so thought we would try something in the area. It's a small restaurant in a strip mall but service was prompt and pleasant. We tried the Delicias de Oaxaca platter loaded with different filled masa items and dried beef, marinated pork, chorizo and chicharron. There were also terrific red and green salsas and complementary chips with mole and cotija cheese. I also ordered the nopales salad and had to try the chapulinas, well just because. Ended with a warming cup of slightly sweetened and spiced cafe de olla which was just perfect.

A little hole in the wall and so glad I found it. The food was fresh and delicious! Service was great and there was even live music. Highly enjoyed my dinner

Wish they used another type of cheese, that melts. This cheese is better as a topping not for inside an enchilada

From the moment you sit down, the staff treats you with a level of warmth and attentiveness that immediately puts you at ease--you can genuinely tell they are happy to see you and appreciate your patronage. The dining room itself is stunning, featuring an elegant, home-welcoming atmosphere down to every last detail. The carefully curated lighting, comfortable chairs and tables, and the beautiful pictures lining the walls create an exceptionally warm and inviting environment. While I initially expected the standard chips and salsa, I was pleasantly surprised by the complimentary snack of crispy "cartwheels" drizzled with a tangy, flavorful hot sauce that hits all the right notes. As for the main event, the food is remarkably authentic and rich in flavor. I ordered the fish tacos accompanied by white rice, but the real star of the show--to my absolute shock--was the side of pinto beans. They are so incredible that I am literally planning a trip back this weekend just to order another side of them. If you think I'm exaggerating about a side of beans, you simply have to try them for yourself. Huge kudos to the cook and the entire staff for delivering next-level hospitality and an unforgettable meal. This place is a breath of fresh air, and I will definitely be back!

Thanks to Restaurant Week, we stumbled upon this gem, and we are so grateful. The hospitality alone would earn five stars. But then came the food. The tacos? Absolutely exceptional. The steak was tender and flavorful in a way that reminded me of eating throughout Mexico, you could actually taste the meat. A light, gentle pickle of vegetables on top, minimal cheese, nothing heavy or greasy. These are not the American-style tacos drowning in a pound of melted cheese. These are the real thing. The beans were lovely, the rice was solid, and my passion fruit winearita drink was genuinely a treat. Restaurant Week gave us the perfect low-pressure reason to try somewhere new, and we walked out with a new favorite. We'll be back for lunch. We'll be back for dinner. And yes, Taco Tuesday, we'll absolutely be back for that.

To make matters worse, one of our meals was completely forgotten. The service was extremely slow throughout the entire visit. Every time we needed something, whether it was a refill, an update, or assistance, the wait felt excessive. The restaurant may have potential because the food itself was flavorful, but it seemed like they were either understaffed or unprepared for the number of customers they had. Another disappointment was the drink selection. We were told they don't have a liquor license, so hard alcohol isn't available. Their sodas were canned, and when we asked for juice for the kids, they told us they were completely out. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is on the smaller side and felt more like a converted house than a traditional restaurant, complete with a fireplace and television in the dining area. The food had good flavor, which is the only reason I'm giving more than one star. Unfortunately, the long wait times, missing meal, lack of drink options, and poor service made the overall experience disappointing.

Then this happened. I brought my family here for dinner, and when we were closing out the check, the server failed to mention that gratuity was automatically added for a party of 6. I didn't realize it until I was about to sign and saw that I was about to leave ANOTHER tip on top of the automatic gratuity. I was like, oh HELL NO, I'm not tipping $80+ So I asked the server to refund the entire transaction and rerun the payment correctly. She told me she couldn't do that, but said she could refund the extra tip instead. I said okay, trusting that she knew what she was doing. We left. Fast forward about 4-6 months later. I come back with different family members, and the MANAGER comes over and tells me I have an outstanding balance of around $150. At first I genuinely thought he was joking. Nope. Apparently, when the server was supposed to refund the extra tip, she accidentally refunded the ENTIRE BILL and kept the tip. ‍ Now explain to me HOW that was my problem?! I specifically told her I wanted the entire transaction refunded so we could start over, and SHE chose to handle it differently. That was THEIR mistake, not mine. And the worst part? Instead of pulling me aside privately and explaining what happened, the manager brought this up IN FRONT OF THE FAMILY I WAS WITH. So now I'm sitting there being told I owe $150+ in front of my guests because of an error THEIR employee made months earlier. Talk about embarrassing. Thank God I'm in a position where I could afford to pay it, so I paid the outstanding amount AND my new bill that day -- over $300 out of pocket -- just to resolve the whole situation. I paid everything they said I owed for both visits, and I have never gone back since. And I WILL NEVER go back. Between the salty-ass food and the customer service, I'll take my money somewhere else. Just sharing my TRUE experience because I think customers deserve to know what happened.
